Parks & Recreation star Rob Lowe will portray a lawyer in the upcoming TV movie about last summer’s Casey Anthony trial, according to reports. Lowe, who previously played Drew Peterson in the Lifetime original film Drew Peterson: Untouchable has been cast as prosecutor Jeff Ashton. The movie, tentatively titled Prosecuting Casey Anthony , will be based on Ashton’s book about the case, Improper Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony . In a case that captivated the country, Anthony, 26, was charged with and later acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee in 2008. The not guilty verdict set off a firestorm of criticism (and head-scratching, or just plain outrage) across the U.S. Anthony has been in hiding since. She hasn’t won over many since last summer. In fact, the family that hid her after the verdict recently left this scathing voicemail for Casey Anthony . “We’re thrilled to have Rob returning to our network, after his amazing star turn as Drew Peterson,” Lifetime executive V.P. Rob Sharenow said. “He’s one of those rare stars who can do it all: comedy, drama, heroes, villains.” [Photos: WENN.com, CNN]
Lady Gaga is under fire in Korea – and not even from the Northern half. Christian groups in South Korea called on Friday for the pop star to cancel her concert there, saying it’s “pornographic” and pro-homosexuality. South Korea’s government has already bowed to public pressure and banned people under 18 from attending, but certain protesters said that was not enough. “Even adults can’t see her performance which is too homosexual and pornographic,” said Rev. Yoon Jung-hoon, organizer of “Civilians Network against the Lady Gaga Concert.” “Some people can simply accept this as another culture but its impact is huge beyond art and debases religions.” The singer’s hit song “Born This Way” celebrates the empowerment of gay men and women, something that many in South Korea, which is the second most Christian country in Asia after the Philippines, say is an immoral lifestyle. No word if they’ve even heard the Lady Gaga hermaphrodite rumor. The star has been in Seoul for close on a week as she kicks off her Asian “Born this Way” tour. So far, the backlash doesn’t seem to have fazed her. “Nervous for tonight. Hope I make little monsters happy and proud,” she Tweeted a few hours before the concert kicked off. Yoon’s group claims to have collected 5,000 supporters on Facebook against the concert and some have also called for a boycott of the sponsor Hyundai. “The Christian Council of Korea with 12 million Christians and 55,000 churches will take all kinds of measures such as boycotting Hyundai to root out this kind of obscene culture,” the council said in a statement. Yoon said he would attend the concert to “monitor” the much-anticipated performance for homosexual content that could corrupt young people. Have fun with that.
We are very sorry, Jessica Sanchez . But your version of ” Bohemian Rhapsody ” was only the second best we’ve heard this week. That’s because the video of a father and his three adorable children has gone viral in which the family rocks out to this Queen hit as if they were characters in Wayne’s World . It’s apparently a morning tradition for the quartet, which makes its drive to school as enjoyable as human possible everyday. Sorry, other dads around the world, but this guy is setting the bar awfully high. Watch now: Father, Kids Sing “Bohemian Rhapsody”
Fox News is determined to prove the Mayans right. For reasons that defy comprehension – even more than how Gretchen Carlson still has a job – the network has invited two guests along with it for Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner: Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan. Moreover, they will be seated at the same table. Yes, readers. Prepare for the Apocalypse. Sources tell TMZ that Kim and Lindsay actually get along well, so don’t expect any fireworks at the event. But will Kardashian and Lohan actually meet President Obama?!? Will their photo op equate to this amazing one of a bar patron and Obama ? “No way. The President almost never mingles with the guests,” an insider says. Other stars, with actual talent, expected to attend on Saturday include: George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis, Charlize Theron, Eva Longoria and Daniel Day-Lewis. [Photos: WENN.com]
Despite her recent nightclub altercation (and the other, strikingly similar recent nightclub altercation ) Lindsay Lohan is set to star as the legendary Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime original movie Liz & Dick, the network itself confirms. Filming will begin in early June in Los Angeles, with LiLo as Liz. For nearly a quarter of a century, Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty and the fiery romance they shared was often called “the marriage of the century.” It was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. Swarmed by press, Taylor and Burton’s love affair was one of the first romances to play out in the public eye … something celebrity gossip staple Lohan can relate to. Says Lifetime of the film and its lead: “Despite their roller coaster romance for the public eye to see, Taylor and Burton shared an undeniable love greater than most people could have dreamed.” Regarding the announcement, Lohan said: “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor . She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well.” “I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.” “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor,” added the network. “She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.” With any luck, she’ll also stay sober throughout! ‘I am very honored to have been asked to play this role,’ Lohan says of the Lifetime movie ‘Liz and Dick.’ By Kara Warner Lindsay Lohan and Elizabeth Taylor Photo: Getty Images After a few months of will-she-or-won’t-she debate as to whether Lindsay Lohan would actually appear in a made-for-TV biopic about Elizabeth Taylor, we finally have confirmation that she will officially take on the role of the Hollywood icon in the Lifetime movie “Liz and Dick.” According to the network’s official announcement obtained by Deadline , the story will revolve around the torrid and headline-grabbing romance between the blue-eyed beauty and Hollywood leading man Richard Burton. The two megastars were the original Brangelina, and their tempestuous relationship was the most infamous celebrity love affair of its day. “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor,” Lohan said in the statement. “She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.” This isn’t the first time Lohan has portrayed a legend. She’s done a few Hollywood pinup-inspired photo, including her Marilyn Monroe-esque photo shoot for Playboy, which garnered record sales when she graced the cover. “We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor,” Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming for Lifetime Networks, said in a statement. “She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.” Principal photography on the movie will begin in early June in Los Angeles. Trayvon Martin’s Brother Jahvaris Fulton Speaks On His Behalf With all of George Zimmerman’s well connected defenders clamoring to his defense, it’s good to hear Trayvon Martin’s big brother Jahvaris speaking up on his behalf! A lot of conflicting statements have been made about the night Trayvon Martin was shot to death by volunteer neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman. Martin’s big brother doesn’t want any of them to cloud the memory of the bright, positive teen he’d been close to. In an interview with CNN’s “A360,” 21-year-old Jahvaris Fulton said Zimmerman’s description of the fatal night –and his claim that he acted in self defense– doesn’t match the Trayvon he knew. “Based on what I heard, with the 911 tapes and all the evidence, he tried to get away from the situation,” ” the soft-spoken college student told the network on Friday. “He wasn’t violent. So for him to actually jump on someone he doesn’t even know, to me that’s not him. He’s smarter than that.” Fulton’s comments echo what he told local media in late March, shortly after the shooter’s father and brother took to national television to bolster Zimmerman’s self defense claims. “I was listening to Zimmerman’s father speak yesterday, and he said something like, my brother was on top of his son and said ‘You’re going to die tonight,’” Fulton told Miami’s CBS 4. “That doesn’t sound like my brother at all.” In his interview with CNN, Fulton said that Martin was an honor student who couldn’t wait to go to college after visiting his brother at Florida International University during spring break. “I would like to remember him as… someone who’s positive, happy, bright future ahead of him,” Fulton said.”He was probably going to be somebody.” We’re glad Jahvaris is helping to keep his brother’s memory alive.
