Unhappy girl in a bedroom Mother Speaks After She Left Her Kids On The Side Of The Road This is sad! This North Carolina mother , Jennifer Westfall, 38, says she was exhausted being a single parent, so she decided to leave her children off an elementary school campus. She says she watched a woman grab her children by the hands and walk them inside. The kids are 9-year-old and 19-months-old. Apparently, School administrators alerted the school resource officer who in turn called Child Protective Services and she was arrested. SMH. Westfall spoke to a local news station, clarifying that she was just tired and she thought what she did was “legal”. Hit play to see what else she had to say about the incident.
Photo by Paras Griffin/Getty Images for 2016 Essence Festival Oprah To Produce The Color Purple Movie Musical With Steven Spielberg It looks like The Color Purple is making it’s return to the big screen, along with some help from all the right people. According to an exclusive report via Collider , Oprah Winfrey has signed on along with Steven Spielberg to produce a film adaptation of the critically acclaimed Broadway musical. This report comes more than thirty years after the duo originally worked together on The Color Purple film, which was based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The book told the story of Celie, a black Southern woman who struggles to overcome the pain of extreme poverty and abuse throughout her entire life. Spielberg directed the film, while Oprah portrayed the character of Sofia Johnson, along with some help from Whoopi Goldberg as Celie. “ The Color Purple was a seminal moment in my life. I read the book when it came out,” Oprah told the Collider back in 2014. “I got the book and read it, in one day. And then, I went back, the next day, and bought every copy they had. I would hand the book out to everybody that I knew. I passed it around to everybody in the office. I became obsessed with the book. I moved to Chicago and I would literally walk around with a backpack filled with books because I didn’t have a book club, and I would just start a conversation with people and say, ‘Have you read The Color Purple ?’ And if they hadn’t, I’d say, ‘Here, have a copy, right here.’ I was literally obsessed with it.” Sticking with the project, Oprah would later produce The Color Purple musical, which debuted in 2005 and go on to win multiple Tony Awards. As for the movie, Quincy Jones and Scott Sanders will produce the upcoming Warner Bros. film alongside Oprah and Spielberg. But a far as talent goes, there are no details about casting, writers, or a director as of now.
Bad Boys for life! After years of chatter and teasing a long-awaited second sequel to the 1995 film, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have come together to officially confirm that Bad Boys 3 (or Bad Boys For Life , as it is tentatively titled) is on the way! It’s not clear how far along the film team is into production, however, seeing these two together for a formal announcement probably means that principal photography is starting soon, if it isn’t already underway. Newly widowed, taking care of her teenage daughter and ailing mother (Telma Hopkins), Brenda is the sole beneficiary of her husband’s assets, which include millions of dollars, property, and most importantly, a secret file that she has yet to discover. Brenda finds out from her husband’s closest friend, Cain (RonReaco Lee) that the file is hidden inside their home, so they think, when they are all taken hostage at Brenda’s Summer home by two masked men, who are now threatening to kill them all one by one if they don’t turn over the file. Having no answers, Brenda, her daughter, mother and Cain are tied up and held hostage until these masked men get what they want. With time running out, Brenda has to do whatever she can to ensure her family’s survival and fight for their lives. The film premieres on BET on Nov. 17 and then goes to digital/VOD on Nov. 19. After starring in “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Baggage Claim” Trigga is starring in “Blood Brother”, a crime drama airing On Demand streaming services November 30. According to an official press release, Trey plays a police officer who turned his life around after a life of crime and must now takedown a childhood friend.
