Hope you're ready for a good old-fashioned fit of unnecessary rage, because it's coming! See, Netflix is making this new show called Dear White People. They just released the trailer yesterday. The show is about a group of minorities attending a mostly white college and the racism and discrimination they face. And that's fine, right? Sounds like an OK topic for a TV show. Except, according to several white people who took great offense to the trailer, it's not fine at all. Believe it or not, there are many, many people who are angry about the title alone, which again, is Dear White People. It's not called Dear White People Who Are All 100% Terrible, it's not Dear White People, You Are the Worst. It's just called Dear White People. And that's enough to set plenty of people off. “Netflix had the gaul to launch a show called Dear White People,” one person tweeted. “I say F-CK NETFLIX.” “Dear White People,” another person wrote (see what they did there?), “If you waste 1 second watching this absurd, racist show, you're dumber than the #Netflix clowns producing it.” Many people are threatening to cancel their Netflix accounts because of this “racist” show, but the thing is — surprise! — it's actually not racist. Remember when everyone couldn’t get enough of “Blurred Lines”, and Robin Thicke was thought to be the Next Big Thing? How a couple years, a reputation-damaging lawsuit, a cheating scandal, and a seriously ugly divorce can change things. Not long after Thicke blew up as the one-hit wonder of 2013, his carefully crafted public image began to fall apart. Thicke’s wife, Paula Patton, filed for divorce , citing the singer’s infidelity, drug use, and abusive behavior toward herself and her son. These days, Thicke and Patton are battling for custody of 6-year-old Julian, and it seems that every time they square off in court the actress levels a shocking new allegation against her former husband. In early January, she accused Thicke of beating her repeatedly throughout their marriage. Later in the month, at a second hearing, she told the court that she could not allow for unsupervised visits, as she had witnessed Thicke abusing her son on more than one occasion. Now, Thicke is fighting for the right to spend time with his son without a court-appointed monitor present. Sources close to the case say Patton is doing everything in her power to convince the court that Thicke is a threat to young Julian’s safety. “Robin wants to spend as much time as possible with Julian, and he was upset because the monitor was trying to cut his visit time short, so his team went and filed to change to a new monitor, which was denied,” an insider tells People magazine. Thicke insists that there’s no need for supervised visits, telling the court “I have never done anything to harm Julian, and I never would.” The court found in Patton’s favor, and denied Thicke’s request for unsupervised visits. Patton’s team tells People, that she could have denied him visitation rights altogether, but chose to allow supervised visits for the sake of her son: “Paula did not have to request that the court grant Robin court-appointed monitored visits with Julian three days a week but did so with the belief that maintaining a relationship with the father in the presence of a monitor to ensure his safety and well-being would be in Julian’s long-term best interest,” says a member of Patton’s legal team. Thicke says his request for unsupervised visits was prompted by a recent incident in which the court’s monitor unexpectedly ended a visit between father and son a full six hours early. Thicke says he fought the decision until the monitor “indicated that [he] really did not have a choice.”
Back in December, several media outlets reported that Flip or Flop hosts Tarek and Christina El Moussa were separating after a bizarre confrontation that included a gun and an alleged suicide attempt. Usually, in high-profile celebrity splits at least one side is eager to set the record straight. However, Christina and Tarek have been tight-lipped for one simple reason: They want to continue making their show , and no one wants to watch lighthearted HGTV real estate porn knowing there’s real darkness bubbling just beneath the surface. One source says that the stories about Christina cheating on Tarek are true, specifying that he caught her sending explicit text messages to a man named Gary Anderson, a contractor previously employed by the couple. In the fight that ensued, Tarek reportedly pulled a gun on Christina. Even after word of her infidelity got out, however, very few who knew the couple blamed Christina for the dissolution of their marriage. Sources say Tarek made a habit of demeaning his wife in public and seemed to enjoy chastising her at work. “When she said the wrong thing and they had to do a retake, he got pissed. He often made her cry,” an insider told In Touch. Sadly, it seems such treatment was no uncommon, and crew members simply learned to look the other way. “Tarek found humor in humiliating his wife in repeated verbal attacks,” one source close to production claims. “Some of his bad behavior was even caught on camera [in footage that never aired]. Obviously, many have been left wondering what could have gone so disastrously wrong in Costa Rica to cause a peaceful family vacation deteriorate so rapidly. According to Us Weekly Scott popped the question to Kourtney – and got shot down. “Scott proposed to Kourtney,” a source close to the Kardashians tells the tabloid. “Not with a ring. He just said, ‘Let’s get married.’” To the surprise of absolutely no one except for Scott, Kourt wasn’t having it in the slightest. “She told him no,” says the insider. “Scott was embarrassed, upset and angry.” A blowout fight reportedly ensued, and Scott jetted off to Florida. Insiders claim Scott was especially upset (not that one needs additional reason to be upset after proposing and being shot down) because he says he’s devoted the past 18 months of his life to cleaning up his act so that Kourtney would take him back. Unfortunately, it seems that it was a case of too little, too late. “Kourtney is over being with him,” says the source. Kourtney kicked Scott to the curb after he was caught cheating with Chloe Bartoli during a trip overseas in the summer of 2015. In the months that followed, Scott and Kourtney seemed to tenuously reconcile several times, but never fully committed to giving their relationship another shot. The couple has three kids together, and Scott has been notoriously resistant to the idea of marriage for the entirety of their time together. So why propose now? She left her three little girls at home, and apparently that was wrong of her. “Leaving your kids behind super mom,” one of her followers commented sarcastically. How ridiculous is that? Because Leah is a mother, she’s never, ever allowed to leave her children? Is that how this works? Fortunately, several of Leah’s followers stood up for her on this point, but unfortunately, this next point is even worse. You know how Leah has been looking a bit thinner than usual lately? According to these strangers on the internet, her weight loss could actually be because of drugs. She went to rehab in 2015 for what she said were mental health issues, but for what everyone else claimed were drug issues. And some people think those issues might be making a comeback. “I sincerely hope you’re off the pills,” one person told her. “Your children need you, and the last few months you’ve looked dangerously thin.” “Take care of yourself, so you can be a role model for your girls.” One person wrote that Leah “looks buzzed” in recent photos, while another stated that “Leah comes from dysfunction she can only do what she was taught.” “I have noticed some signs of possible medication use. The reality star shared something her four-year old son, Kash, brought home from school this week, bragging to her followers on Snapchat about all the things Kash loves about her dad. For example, according to the following image of a school questionnaire, Kroy Biermann is 51 years old. He likes to ride his four-wheeler. His favorite food is steak. His favorite drink is Sprite. His job is to play football. And Kash loves his dad because “he lets me hold his real gun.” Wait… WHAT?!? Biermann lets his four-year old child hold his real gun? Moreover, this is something Zolciak wanted to tell her followers all about? As you can see below, Kim wrote as a caption to the photo, “I [love] this!” But social media users didn’t exactly feel the same way. Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of a generation of a schoolchildren. Moments ago, Betsy DeVos – Trump’s pick as U.S. Secretary of Education – was confirmed for the position in a vote so close that a tie had to be broken by Vice President Mike Pence. The 51-50 vote officially makes DeVos one of the controversial cabinet members in American history. And why are so many unhappy about the appointment? Well, there’s the fact that DeVos will be in charge of our nation’s public schools, despite the fact that she never attended one, worked in one, or sent her children to one. And the fact that she favors privatizing public schools, despite the fact that such systems promote racial segregation and fail to benefit others besides wealthy CEOs like herself and Trump. Or how about the fact that openly bought her post through millions in campaign contributions to Trump and many of the Republican senators who voted today. Here’s a helpful look at how her cash was distributed. Little Marco must be tough to buy off! Two Republican senators did vote against the appointment, proving that there is some opposition to Trump’s billionaires first agenda. Just not enough to make any real difference. This is far from the only controversial cabinet appointment made by Trump, and the president seems intent on privatizing or eliminating any of federal programs and services. There were cries of outrage when Rex Tillerson was appointed Secretary of State because the Exxon-Mobil CEO seems to have been chosen for no other reason than that he’s a close business ally to Vladimir Putin. Millions were infuriated when Rick Perry was chosen as Secretary of Energy because he admitted to being clueless as to what the department does, and had previously spoken of doing away with it. Then there’s Scott Pruitt, tapped by Trump to head the Environmental Protection Agency – which he spent his entire career as Oklahoma’s Attorney General at odds with, and often suing. And yet the DeVos nomination somehow seems even worse. Almost like the people of this country care about their children’s future. Did Trump overplay his hand with this one?
