The Voice Season 8 Episode 2 Recap: Errrbody Get Turnt (Around in Chairs)

The Voice Season 8 Episode 2 saw a crop of aspiring singing sensations compete for the musical attention of Christina, Pharrell, Blake and Adam on NBC. After The Voice Season 8 premiere introduced us to some of the spring campaign’s most promising stars, the sophomore installment did more of the same. Let’s meet them, shall we? Anthony Riley can get on up to join Team Pharrell thanks to his performance of James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good).” All four judges turned in seconds! Blaze Johnson joined Team Adam with a rendition of The Fray’s “How to Save a Life” that managed to get two chairs turned, even if it was a bit uneven. Brooke Adee and her cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” earned a spot on Team Blake. Might we have another teenage star on our hands (she’s 16))? Gabriel Wolfchild won a place on Team Christina, shunning Adam and Blake,  after his take on a folk staple, Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” Mia Z performed B.B. King’s “The Thrill Is Gone,” a cover that needed work but featured enough range, tone and power to win a place on Team Pharrell. Deanna Johnson put her all into a rendition of Kodaline’s “All I Want,” and the returning auditioner got it done this time, securing a spot on Team Adam. Joe Tolo is now a card-carrying member of Team Christina, choosing Aguilera over Blake Shelton after belting out The Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody.” Tonya Boyd-Cannon and her prison choir background (seriously) made the bold song choice of Pharrell’s “Happy,” and was more than happy to join … Adam’s team. And there you have it. The Voice Season 8: Top Blind Auditions 13. Rob Taylor View Video Rob Taylor is a 22-year old from Louisiana. He caused three of four chairs to turn around during his initial audition for The Voice. 12. Meghan Linsey View Video Love hurt for Meghan Linsey on the first night of The Voice. This Nashville native drew the attention of all three mentors with her opening audition, as seen here. 11. Sarah Potenza View Video Sarah Potenza is a 34-year old from Nashville. She went all Sam Smith on judges and viewers with her rendition of “Stay with Me” on opening night. 10. Sawyer Fredericks View Video Sawyer Fredericks is only 15 years old! Taylor Swift Donates $50,000 to New York City Schools

Taylor Swift is on her way to a FOURpeat. The singer has been named Most Charitable Celebrity alive three years running… and her latest endeavor makes it pretty clear she’ll nab this honor in 2015 as well. The Department of Education revealed yesterday that Swift has already donated $50,000 to the New York City public school system via proceeds earned from the single “Welcome to New York.” “We’re deeply appreciative of this kind gesture to donate her proceeds of the single ‘Welcome to New York’ to benefit NYC public schools,” Devora Kaye, the press secretary for the Department of Education, tells E! News. Swift pledged to give away all money earned from this track during an October appearance on The View. “It’s selling really, really well,” the crooner said of her Big Apple-themed anthem. “Which is good because I’m donating all my proceeds to New York City public schools.” And she’ll continue to do so until the end of time, insiders confirm. Since moving to New York about a year ago, the singer has made no secret of her love for the iconic city. “It’s amazing. It’s the greatest place ever,” the transplant previously gushed on The Late Show, telling viewers they should “drop everything” and go there as soon as possible. Taylor Swift, of course, has grown well known for magnanimous actions such as paying off the school loans of a fan and bringing another supporter backstage with her at the Grammys . Chris Brown: BANNED From Canada!

It may be cold in the Great White North, but it certainly won’t be Breezy! Chris Brown has been denied entry to Canada and forced to cancel scheduled shows in Montreal and Canada. Brown broke the news yesterday in a tweet addressed to his Canuck fans: “Good people of the Canadian government won’t allow me entry,” Brown tweeted. “I’ll be back this summer to see all my Canadian fans!” So why might the people of Canada want someone like Chris to remain south of their border? Oh, so very many reasons: For one thing, it’s a miracle that the singer is able to tour at all. Brown’s probation was revoked  in January after a series of violent incidents at his concerts. But Chris Brown isn’t banned from Canada due to the tiny little problem of  people getting shot at Chris Brown concerts . No, our neighbors to the North want to keep their distance from Breezy simply because he has a rap sheet a mile long, and the Canadian government reserves the right to deny anyone admittance on the basis of their criminal record. Remember when Chris went to jail  last year for violating his probation? We know – he has so many scrapes with the law that you can’t keep them all straight. But Canada never forgets. There was plenty to dislike at the 87th annual Academy Awards. Neil Patrick Harris failed as host… Sean Penn made an ill-timed Green Card joke … and Joan Rivers was snubbed during the In Memoriam segment. But at least Lady Gaga’s tribute to The Sound of Music was universally beloved by all who saw it. Well, almost everyone. Giuliana Rancic to be FIRED From E! Following Zendaya Comments?!

During a recent episode of E!’s Fashion Police, Giuliana Rancic remarked on Zendaya’s hair with a joke that’s been criticized as disrespectful, offensive, and even racist. While discussing Zendaya’s famous dreadlocks, Rancic speculated that the 18-year-old “smells like patchouli oil…or maybe weed.” Yesterday,  Rancic apologized on camera after Zendaya and an army of her fans took to Twitter to complain about the comment. The public admission of guilt may have come too late, however, as it’s being reported that many at the network believe Rancic should be fired, including her Fashion Police co-stars. “The entire cast of Fashion Police is done with Giuliana, and they are hoping that she will not only be kicked off the show, but also off of the network,” one E! insider tells Radar Online. “The network does not condone racism in any way, shape or form, and they know that their reputation is now at stake.  “The staff of E! is comprised of many different races, and everyone is pissed off. Giuliana cannot take her words back, regardless of what she tweets, or how many times she says she’s sorry.” Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne has tweeted that she’s “questioning staying on the show” and is giving everyone involved 24 hours to “make it right”…though it’s unclear what that means in this situation. It seems to us that the best way to prevent something like this from happening again would be for E! to stop airing programs that are centered entirely around harshly criticizing the appearances of celebrities, but that’s a discussion for another time. 2015 Oscars Fashion: Who Looked Best? 1. Is Brandi Glanville getting fired by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?! This recurring rumor is circulating rapidly following a string of recent events … Brandi getting the boot by Bravo is a story that’s surfaced before, but amounted to nothing, but sources tell Us Weekly that this time it’s a real possibility. That is, if the reality star doesn’t make an exit first. According to a RHOBH insider, Eddie Cibrian’s ex “has stirred s–t to get attention,” which everyone who knows her knows, but lately, “it’s backfiring.” In fact, even executive producer Andy Cohen is fed up with her antics. “He thinks her actions aren’t a good look for the show,” another source alleges. The reality that Brandi Glanville is feuding with cast members Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump and Lisa Rinna lately isn’t doing her any favors, either. Rinna has labeled the mom of two an alcoholic, while Kyle hates her with a passion, and has said that she has no regard for human life . So to speak. A third source close to the star, however, says, if anything, it’ll be Glanville who chooses to leave because she can’t deal with the decline of her image. Seriously, this is apparently a concern for her. “She’s furious at how she’s been portrayed,” says the insider of the firebrand , model and author. “She thinks they made her look like a train wreck.” Not exactly a tall order. Michael Phelps has struck gold once again… … when it comes to love! The Olympic sensation confirmed via Instagram on Saturday that he’s engaged to Nicole Johnson, posting the following photo of the couple along with a caption that reads: “She said yes.” “I’m gonna be a Mrs. @m_phelps00,” Johnson wrote a short while later. The engagement comes just a week after rumors surfaced that Phelps has cheated on Johnson , the former Miss California, not just once but with many women. In addition, The Hollywood Gossip broke the story last fall that Phelps spent at least one night with Taylor Lianne Chandler , a middle-aged woman who was born a man. She was allegedly with the swimmer the night he was busted for his second DUI, after which the 29-year-old athlete checked into rehab to “find himself.” Then, when Phelps left rehab late last year, he rekindled his romance with Nicole Johnson … much to the chagrin and anger of Chandler and other side pieces. Dustin Diamond: Not Insulted by Saved By The Bell Reunion Snub!

To some, fans, doing a Saved By The Bell reunion show without Dustin Diamond, a.k.a. Samuel “Screech” Powers, feels like doing an Alf reunion without Alf! But that’s exactly what Jimmy Fallon did earlier this month, when the Tonight Show invited all the cast members of Saved by The Bell to the studio for a sketch. Except for Diamond and Lark Voorhies. who played Lisa Turtle. Diamond spoke with Fox 6 News about not being asked to do the reunion with Fallon: “It would have been fun, but I don’t see it as a personal insult.” Well that’s good, cuz everybody else does. But Diamond is in a different place now than in recent years, during which his conduct has been … well, suspect. He’s older and more mature, he says.” “Here’s the way I look at it. I walk a very honest and humble path, and I know what kind of person I am. I’m very comfortable where I fit in life.” “I want to have a family. I want to have kids and I want to raise them right. I’m playing comedy clubs. I’m not rich, but I make a living. I’ve tripped and fallen many times in my life.” “If you don’t, how do you learn?” Saved by the Bell Reunion on The Tonight Show Well, he’s certainly had a lot to learn from. There’s the infamous Dustin Diamond sex tape from 2007, which received poor reviews … even for a porn. He later went on to claim that the tape, in all its Dirty Sanchez glory, wasn’t real, that it was all staged and that he was even doubled by a male model. To which all we can say is: Really?! Does it matter?! He was also the resident baddie during his season of Celebrity Fit Club. He says in the Fox interview that he ASKED to be the bad guy, because it “paid more”. Warren G was originally going to do it, but he was too nice and soft spoken. Again, it was all staged for our benefit. The only minor detail of his life which he leaves out of the interview is that pesky little stabbing incident that happened in December. Perhaps that was all staged too? Hilary Duff Files for Divorce from Mike Comrie

This will teach Mike Comrie to possibly proposition a waitress for sex in Beverly Hills… One day after The Daily Mail reported Comrie got wasted at a restaurant and offered a woman he just met $600 to sleep with him, Hilary Duff officially filed for divorce from her estranged husband. Duff originally announced a split from her husband of three years in January of last year, though no paperwork was filed at that time in the court system. The couple got back together a few months later and tried to make things work, but Duff has now hired noted attorney Laura Wasser and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for the divorce.
