James DiMaggio, the California murder suspect who allegedly kidnapped 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, was shot and killed by the FBI in the Idaho wilderness. Anderson was rescued alive nearby. Hannah Anderson Rescued, James DiMaggio Killed She appeared to be uninjured and will be reunited soon with her father at a hospital, where health care providers and crisis counselors were assisting her. “We will make sure she gets as much care as possible, physically and emotionally,” said Andrea Dearden, a spokeswoman from the Ada County Sheriff’s Dept. The shooting came after officers spotted James DiMaggio’s campsite from the air and an FBI hostage recovery team trekked to the site deep in the woods. “No one really knows where an investigation like this will lead,” said Mary Rook of the FBI’s Salt Lake City division. “In this case, our team faced a very challenging situation.” It marked the end of a days-long, multi-state manhunt. The bodies of Hannah Anderson’s mother, Christina, 44, and the teen’s 8-year-old brother, Ethan, were found in DiMaggio’s burning house outside San Diego. DiMaggio was close to the family. Christina Anderson’s husband, Brett, has described him as a best friend and said the children thought of him as an uncle. Authorities have said DiMaggio had an “unusual infatuation” with Hannah Anderson, although the father said he never saw any strange behavior. An Amber Alert was issued when he abducted her, and tips led investigators to Oregon after DiMaggio and the teen were reportedly spotted there. But it wasn’t until an Idaho horseback rider called in a tip that investigators found a major lead – DiMaggio’s car, hidden under brush at a trailhead. About 270 law enforcement officers from the FBI, local Idaho sheriffs’ offices, Idaho State Police, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Border Patrol swarmed the roadless area. San Diego County Sheriff William D. Gore announced Hannah Anderson’s rescue and DiMaggio’s death from a news conference in California Saturday.

Amanda Bynes’ mother was granted a temporary conservatorship over the troubled actress yesterday in court after a judge extended her psychiatric hold . Amanda Bynes’ Mother Granted Conservatorship The judge based his decision on the findings of an investigator appointed to evaluate Amanda’s mental health, which he found she is “gravely disabled” by. Amanda Bynes was not even fit enough to travel to court in person. Her lawyer told the judge at Friday’s hearing that she’s spoken with the star several times and Amanda opposes a conservatorship, believing it’s not necessary. The judge disagreed, and her mother will be in charge of Amanda’s personal well-being – as well as her medical treatment and finances – for now. Sad as this is, it may be the only recourse left at this point. Amanda’s behavior not only became dangerously erratic (the driveway fire was the tip of the iceberg), but her $4 million savings have been rapidly depleted. It’s not even clear what she’s been spending money on. The judge cautioned parents, Lynn and Rick, not to make any financial moves without consulting with Amanda’s lawyer, but they do call the shots now. The temporary conservatorship will last until September 30, at which point the judge will hold another formal hearing on whether to make it permanent. Amanda and the judge will hopefully meet face-to-face between now and then, in the hopes of gauging her progress (or lack thereof) first-hand.

When The Bachelorette star Desiree Hartsock accepted Chris Siegfried’s proposal Monday on the season finale, the pair began envisioning wedding bells.
