The New York Times advertises itself as “all the news that’s fit to print,” and they found NUDES fit to print last Friday as they re-printed a spoof ad featuring Linda Evangelista lathering up in the shower. Titled Lavez les-bien (translation: “wash them well”), the fake ad (above) touts the benefits of a non-existent body wash, but we’re more interested in what appears to be a a nip slip (underneath her left arm) from the skingy supermodel. The paper included the ad in an article on the Fashion & Style section of their website, and if the NYT ‘s eagle-eyed editorial staff noticed the nip before publication, they let it pass without comment. What’s black and white and red all over? Mr. Skin’s palms when there’s nudes in the newspaper, of course! Aaron Eckhart and Giovanni Ribisi also talk about writer Hunter S. Thompson’s impact on the film. By Ahsika Sanders, with reporting by Kara Warner Johnny Depp in “The Rum Diary” Photo: FilmDistrict From the first few moments of the trailer’s island music, bright colors and eye-catching castmembers, “The Rum Diary” looks like a whimsical vacation to paradise realized onscreen. Based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson during the author’s own travels to Puerto Rico in the late ’50s, the film casts “Pirates of the Caribbean” leading man Johnny Depp as the alcoholic, struggling writer-turned-journalist Paul Kemp, who struggles to find a balance between work, play and the island’s increasingly tumultuous politics. When MTV News caught up with the film’s stars, they explained how the film is a fitting tribute to Thompson’s final story, as well as to his legacy. “The whole thing is really a love letter to Hunter,” Depp said, whose friendship with Thompson led to the discovery of the late author’s unpublished manuscript and eventually the idea to make it into a film. “The film from the very inception, opening that cardboard box and finding the manuscript to ‘The Rum Diary’ and saying to Hunter, ‘What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you publish this?’ and him saying, ‘Well we should produce this,’ the chain of events that happened over the years and then us trying ignorantly to drum up the money was just a very funny experience,” Depp said of the story’s journey from page to screen. “Even though my partner is not right next to me, we’re going to still produce this film together, and ultimately we did,” Depp said of deciding to move forward with the production after Thompson’s death in 2005. “Even if his presence, if he wasn’t visible, we still produced the film together.” Aaron Eckhart stars alongside Depp in a second villainous role since his stint as Harvey “Two-Face” Dent in “The Dark Knight.” Depp’s love and passion for Thompson and his work made the film a more meaningful experience, Eckhart said. “I think that Johnny has taken up the mantle and has preserved his legacy and is now offering all those people out there who have never heard of Hunter, an opportunity to be familiar with his work,” he said. “Hunter was always there. He always had his chair, his empty chair on set with us, and Johnny and [director] Bruce [Robinson] had a ritual that they did everyday … but his spirit was always there.” “Avatar” bad guy Giovanni Ribisi added that for him, the story was about “having a voice and maintaining your independence and your individuality” and that Thompson’s perception of that ideal is universal and timely. “I think Hunter S. Thompson was such a strong factor in a time in the sixties, he was almost the fulcrum for that [time], where people were waking up,” he said. “It was about a rebellion against this capitalist structure and the mise en scene in the story. In the book you know where America is coming and really doing its thing to this beautiful culture Puerto Rico, that setting is just incredible. That for me is what it’s about. I think, as much as I hate to say it, I think it’s very apropos to today’s psychology.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Rum Diary.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . In this world, time is literally money, and when your time runs out, you die. In the spirit of making the most of time, although in not quite as serious a manner as is portrayed in the film, when MTV News caught up with the cast of “In Time,” we asked a series of rapid-fire questions pegged to getting the most out of everyday scenarios: “How do you make the most of your time, when … ” 1. On a plane? “Oh, I like to read or do crossword puzzles,” said Vincent Kartheiser, whom “Mad Men” fans will recognize as bad guy Pete Campbell. “I sleep, normally,” Amanda Seyfried said, “but [I like to listen to] audio books or knit.” 2. On hold with customer service? “When the [customer service rep] comes back, I like to completely change voices,” Timberlake revealed, changing his voice into a deep, serious baritone. ” ‘Hey, I’d like to speak to your supervisor,’ and then [ changing his voice into a high-pitched, younger voice ], ‘Hey, man, listen, I had a problem,’ ” he play-acted for us. “I put [the phone] on speaker and get some work done,” Matt Bomer said. 3. God forbid, when the Internet goes down? “You should read a book,” Bomer advised of this worst-case scenario. “Maybe the newspaper, get caught up on current events.” Seyfried told us she’s trying to cut down her internet use. “It gets to be time consuming, so when it goes down, you just have to read the newspaper,” she said. 4. When waiting at the DMV? “Power through,” Bomer advised of the always long lines at the Department of Motor Vehicles. “Whatever you can get done. Maybe Sudoku?” “I like to look for the one person who’s like, ‘I hate this place! I’m never coming back!’ ” Kartheiser said. “Google whatever the state legal limit is for blood alcohol concentration, because that’s usually why I’m there,” Timberlake added with a laugh. Kim Kardashian just showed us. A day after she turned 31 and we mocked this reality star for scarcely accomplishing anything in life that didn’t rely on her large boobs and marketing-savvy mother, Kardashian has landed a major movie role. She will play one of the leads in The Marriage Counselor , Deadline reports , the next project written and directed by Tyler Perry. It is based on a play by the same name and centers around a twist on The Wedding Planner : Jurnee Smollett will portray a marriage counselor who excels in her job, but not in her relationship. Kardashian will take on the role of this character’s friend, Ava. The movie starts shooting next week in Atlanta. Justin Bieber continues to make all other boyfriends look bad. A month after the 17-year old sensation rented out the Staples Center – yes, the entire Staples Center – for a private screening of Titanic for him and Selena Gomez, The Winnipeg Free Press reports that Bieber pulled a similar romantic stunt Friday night in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This time, the couple enjoyed an emptied-out theater and watched Real Steel together. According to the newspaper, Justin and Selena had a cheese pizza delivered to the theater and were whisked away in black Lincoln SUV after the showing. This is the least Bieber can do, really. Newspaper is questioning numbers cited in actor’s anti-prostitution campaign. By Jocelyn Vena Ashton Kutcher Photo: Joe Corrigan/ Getty Images Ashton Kutcher is engaged in a war of words with New York newspaper The Village Voice. The actor and the paper have been going after each other on Twitter in connection with PSAs that Kutcher and wife Demi Moore , made in order to shed light on underage prostitution. The newspaper questioned statistics that the celebrity uses in his campaign in an article published this week called “Real Men Get Their Facts Straight” (a play on “Real Men Don’t Buy Girls,” the name of Kutcher’s campaign). The actor took to Twitter to respond, making reference to ads that appear in the paper’s classifieds section. “Hey @villagevoice speaking of data, maybe you can help me … How much $ did your ‘escorts’ in your classifieds on backpage make last year? Hey @villagevoice speaking of Data … How many of your girls selling themselves in your classifieds are you doing age verification on?” The article cites Kutcher’s statistic that between 100,000 and 300,000 children are involved with child prostitution, calling it a “statistic [that] was hatched without regard to science. It is a bogeyman.” Kutcher fired back at those claims on his Twitter. “Hey @villagevoice if you want to dispute the online data I’ve collected about the consumption of child porn or the hard facts from [National Center for Missing and Exploited Children] lmk,” he wrote, later adding, “Hey @villagevoice REAL MEN DON’T BUY GIRLS and REAL NEWS PUBLICATIONS DON’T SELL THEM.” Eventually the newspaper responded to Kutcher’s criticism of its analysis, firing back on Twitter. “@aplusk Don’t spout phony statistics which are then used to justify millions in spending for ‘awareness.’ Victims need beds and counseling,” read one tweet that appeared in between a sea of retweets from readers on the paper’s side and reminders to read the article. “Still sort of doubting that @aplusk actually read our story, but don’t make that same mistake!” Whose side are you on? Tell us in the comments!

Let’s all hope there’s still time for Rhys-Meyers to find his way.
