Is Bradley Cooper Seriously About to Become The Crow?

The hits keep coming on Remake/Adaptation Tuesday, with a report that your new Crow has been found in the perennially sun-tanned, jovial, frat boy-friendly Bradley Cooper, which makes perfect sense… right ? I mean, who can’t picture the star of such nightmarish genre visions as Valentine’s Day and All About Steve as Eric Draven, the iconic rock star at the center of The Crow who rises from the ashes to avenge his lady’s murder in the role previously portrayed by the late Brandon Lee?

Nerd Alert! Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern Movie Is Actually Happening

In news that might have caused my fifth grade self to break out in an awkward dance of joy, there is actual movement on a long-attempted adaptation of Anne McCaffrey’s The Dragonriders of Pern series. X-Men writer David Hayter will reportedly adapt Dragonflight , the first novel in McCaffrey’s celebrated book series set on the planet of Pern, where generations of humans form telepathic links with fire-breathing dragons to defend themselves from a deadly enemy known as Thread.

Peter Jackson Explains Why He’s Filming The Hobbit at Groundbreaking Frame Rate

Writing from the set of The Hobbit , Peter Jackson took to Facebook Monday to blog his thoughts on filming at 48 frames per second — the increased frame rate championed by folks like James Cameron, who will use it to blow minds in Avatar 2 and 3 . Jackson is currently filming The Hobbit in 3-D at 48 fps instead of the industry standard 24 fps, and as a result, the Lord of the Rings follow-up will be the first wide release to pave the way into a brave new digital world of filmmaking — whether or not theaters around the world are ready for it.

TRAILER: Could Passion Play Be the Megan Fox/Mickey Rourke Trainwreck You’ve Been Waiting for?

After a troubled, 20-year road from script-development to screen, Passion Play is coming to select theaters. Then, just in case you blink, it will hit DVD three weeks later . Word of mouth out of Toronto was that the film was a disaster, and the theater-to-DVD release window pretty much backs that up. But after watching the trailer, I can’t help but wonder: Can a film with Mickey Rourke falling in love with an angel played by Megan Fox while trying not to get killed by Bill Murray be totally worthless?

Ethan Wayne, the son of John, has announced that John Wayne Enterprises will be auctioning off a huge collection of John Wayne memorabilia this Fall. True, the prices are expected to reach amounts as high as $50,000, but in comparison to say, a life-size Darth Vader, many of these items are actually functional and practical, and could potentially improve the owner’s life many times over! A teaser trailer for The Woman In Black , Daniel Radcliffe’s first post- Potter film role, has popped up online and there’s not a whole to say about it. Kneel Before Michael Shannon! Boardwalk Empire Baddie Is General Zod In Zack Snyder’s Superman

Are you there, Zod? It’s me, Michael Shannon. I may have my doubts about Zack Snyder as a director for the upcoming Man of Steel Superman reboot, but his casting has been right on the money of late. After casting Henry Cavil as the titular hero and Amy Adams as spunky girl reporter Lois Lane , Warner Bros. announced today that Academy Award-nominated actor Michael Shannon will be stepping into the black satin tap pants of General Zod.

Tyler Perry is a Hero: Homebuilding Edition

Movieline’s favorite purveyor of black stereotypes, Tyler Perry, has secured himself a place in heaven this week by tackling his own real-life house of pain project. The prolific writer/director/playwright rebuilt and furnished a home for an 88-year-old woman who lost her Georgia house in a fire a week before Christmas. After hearing about the story, Perry vowed to reconstruct the dwelling for her and her seven grand- and great-grandchildren who live with her. Perry and the family celebrated the finished product with a ceremony today in Coweta County. Congratulations. [ AP ]
