The Curse of Mel Gibson: Liam Neeson Cut From The Hangover 2

Man, all that time in Thailand for nothing. Director Todd Phillips has revealed that Liam Neeson’s tattoo artist cameo in The Hangover 2 has been cut from the film. No, Zack Galifianakis didn’t organize another protest ; this time the culprit was Clash of the Titans 2 . Neeson was too busy reprising his role as Zeus to join reshoots of his tattoo parlor scene, so actor Nick Cassavettes has filled in for the bit role. I’m sorry if you were hoping for the phone to ring, Mel Gibson. [ E! ]

Is Jessica Biel About To Get Her Ass To Mars?

When last we checked in on the Colin Farrell-led remake of Total Recall , Bryan Cranston had been cast as baddie Vilos Cohaagen (as in “Gif de peeple der ahhr, Cohaagen”) and the movie would actually have precious little to do with Mars, centering instead on “Euromerica.” Well, the worm has turned, Mars could be back in play and Jessica Biel may join the merry crew.

David O. Russell Considering Buddy Cianci Biopic?

Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal said that David O. Russell is considering directing an adaptation of former Providence mayor Buddy Cianci’s book Politics and Pasta , which follows the author’s years of busting mobsters and landing in jail on racketeering charges. Could Rosenthal partner Robert De Niro, who reportedly made a deal with Cianci back in 2008 and may appear in Russell’s Uncharted , help seal the deal — and, perhaps, star as the notorious politician?

It’s hard to believe but people are still talking about this year’s Academy Awards — not because of the upsets or moving acceptance speeches but because of the abysmal hosting abilities of James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Precious: Andy Serkis Will Act as Second Unit Director on The Hobbit

As if reprising his role of Gollum in The Hobbit wasn’t enough for Andy Serkis, the motion capturing actor will also work as second unit director during the New Zealand film shoot. “I think I understand Peter’s sensibility and we have a common history of understanding Middle Earth,” Serkis told THR . “A lot of the crew from The Lord of the Rings was returning to work on The Hobbit . There is really a sense of Peter wanting people around him who totally understand the material and the work ethic.” No truth to the rumor that Serkis will also handle the costume jewelry on the set. Robert Redford to Star in Biopic About the MLB Exec Who Signed Jackie Robinson

Robert Redford’s reemergence in film will involve the very sport he highlighted in The Natural , which is a welcome surprise, wouldn’t you say? The 74-year-old Sundance king says he will play Branch Rickey , the executive who signed Jackie Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1945, in an as-yet-untitled film written and directed by Brian Helgeland ( L.A. Confidential , Mystic River ). But does Redford’s first quote about the project shed a dubious light on his reasons for joining?
