It was already over? That certainly seemed to be news to Apollo… As we all saw on last night’s episode of RHOA, Phaedra may have plucked Apollo fresh out of the prison system, but she is certainly not “ride or die.” Many fans were critical of Phaedra’s decision to stay at a hotel and not even contact her husband on his sentencing day, so she took to Bravo’s blog to explain things from her own perspective. Via BravoTV : Words cannot express the turmoil this situation has caused our family, and I can’t even begin to articulate how hard it has been. When you face a situation like this, you can choose to either break down or stay strong; I chose to stay strong because I have two young children that need a parent to give them stability and keep the ship sailing. I’ve been criticized for not being at Apollo’s hearing, but the truth is I had been there for him in so many ways for such a long time. By the time all of this went down, it was apparent the marriage was over and my focus needed to be exclusively on the wellbeing of our children. I don’t think there’s a parent out there who wouldn’t agree. We guess that’s why she says Apollo’s declaration that he wanted out of their marriage came as no real shock: I have been on such an emotional rollercoaster that there really isn’t anything that would have surprised me. After a while you reach a point where you are so numb that nothing fazes you anymore. And again, by that point my attention was exclusively on the children’s needs and doing everything I could to minimize the impact of this on their lives. My children’s health and happiness will always be center stage. Well nobody would know better than Phaedra what was going on in her marriage. Oscar’s day of reckoning is finally here… Oscar Pistorius Sentenced Bladerunner Oscar Pistorius is going to prison for five years for the death of his girlfriend Reva Steenkamp. Despite being found not guilty of premeditated murder , the Olympian was found guilty of culpable homicide. BBC News reports: South African athlete Oscar Pistorius has been given five years in jail for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. In court in Pretoria, Judge Thokozile Masipa also gave Pistorius a three-year suspended sentence for a firearms charge. Pistorius has now been taken to the cells. Prosecutors had called for a minimum 10-year term, and the defence argued for community service and house arrest. Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide but cleared of murder. Defence lawyer Barry Roux said his client was expected to serve 10 months in prison, with the rest under house arrest. The BBC’s Andrew Harding, in court, says the parents of Reeva Steenkamp, Barry and June, tell him they are happy with the sentence and relieved the case is over. Hmmmm…five years for culpable homicide? Is that fair or foul????
