Might cozy there guys… Michael Strahan’s “Live” Debut Boosts Ratings 44% Michael Strahan’s debut alongside Kelly Ripa on ABC’s syndicated TV program “Live With Kelly and Michael” boosted the audience by 44 percent from a year ago. Yesterday’s show with the former New York Giants football player as co-host was the most-watched daytime program in 14 of the top 15 television markets, Walt Disney Co. (DIS)’s ABC said in a e-mailed statement, citing preliminary Nielsen ratings. ABC tapped Strahan as the permanent replacement for Regis Philbin, who retired from the show in 2011. The program had relied on guest hosts for the last nine months. Strahan, who played with the Giants for 15 years culminating with a 2008 Super Bowl victory, will continue as an on-air commentator of “Fox NFL Sunday.” Produced by Disney’s WABC-TV in New York, the number of viewers who watched the program in that market more than doubled from September 2011, and was more than twice that of its nearest competitor, NBC’s “Today” show, according to the statement. Disney, based in Burbank, California, climbed 3 percent to $51.16 at 1:15 p.m. in New York trading. The stock had gained 32 percent this year through yesterday. Congrats to Michael and Kelly (that sounded like the just had a kid together), it’s a beautiful day in America when a swirly morning show tag-team can get the people excited. Hank Williams Jr. repeated his anti-Obama tirade at a concert in Texas on Sunday. Performing at the Stockyards Music Festival, the country singer went on an extended rant against the president. “We’ve got a Muslim for a President who hates cowboys, hates cowgirls, hates fishing, hates farming, loves gays, and we hate him,” Williams Jr. bellowed. As the Dallas Sun reported, the crowd responded with a loud cheer. This is the second time in recent weeks the singer has used heated language when describing his distaste for the president. A late August concert featured Williams Jr. doing the same bit, though the dig at homosexuals appears to be a new addition to his schtick. When a Twitter user told Chad they “feel bad” for him and his situation, the NFL player replied: “Don’t feel bad, my black a** messed up, I made the bed now I gotta lay n it.” Yesterday, Chad took the first steps towards his new future by deleting his bio on Twitter, and when a fan questioned why he did so, he replied: “I got to start life over and create a new one.” It was revealed this week that Chad faces a year in jail if found guilty of domestic battery . It’s been quite a week for Chad Johnson. To recap, the NFL star has been released by: The Miami Dolphins, who cut Chad on Hard Knocks no less. VH1, which sacked Ev & Ocho before it even premiered. Evelyn Lozada , who filed for divorce after 41 days of marriage. An arrest for domestic violence is never good, but was it the nail in the coffin for the 34-year-old “Ochocinco” and his already declining career? Being charged with domestic violence for head-butting his wife means a serious legal issue hanging over his head as he searches for a new job. Will an NFL team actually offer him one? Clubs are increasingly focused on avoiding any individuals who have personal problems or who are distractions to the team, regardless of their talent. Johnson’s consistently outrageous antics, reality TV career and prolific oversharing on Twitter raised red flags long before last Saturday’s events. Combined with his inability or unwillingness to learn plays in New England last year, it may all be too much for him to overcome going forward. What do you think? Is Chad’s career done?
