Maria Menounos Eliminated From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Despite Perfect Score

Remaining three celebrities — William Levy, Katherine Jenkins and Donald Driver — will continue competing for mirror ball trophy next week. By Kelley L. Carter Maria Menounos and Derek Hough on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC The truth is, anyone’s name could have been called to head home from ABC’s hit show “Dancing With the Stars” on Tuesday night and it would have been a shock. On Monday night, most of the contestants scored well with the judges. Although opera singer Katherine Jenkins has been a top performer on the show all season, she made a few missteps in one of her Monday night performances — and subsequently beat herself up about it. So folks may not have been too surprised to hear her name called as this week’s eliminated dancer. Instead, it was one of the night’s top scorers who got the boot. It ultimately came down to TV journalist Maria Menounos and her partner Derek Hough and NFL star Donald Driver and his partner Peta Murgatroyd. Menounos was the one to go, despite having a near-perfect score on Monday night. The judges salivated over the Argentine tango she performed as her first dance, rewarding her with perfect 10s all around. For her second performance, she took on the jive, and the judges actually named her the winner of the night — and possibly the competition itself. When her name was called Tuesday night, Menounos said, “I learned so many things — how strong I was, to persevere … I want to thank everyone here. I want to thank Derek and my family and everyone who voted for us.” Next week, the remaining three celebrities — Latin heartthrob William Levy and his partner Cheryl Burke, Driver and Murgatroyd, and Jenkins and Mark Ballas will compete for the mirror ball trophy.

Kris Jenner Slams, Promotes Tabloid Label of "Monster Mom"

Kris Jenner is simply incensed that a new tabloid cover screams that the Kardashian sisters are all DITCHING THEIR MONSTER MOM. Just how enraged is the family matriarch over this claim? She’s posted a photo of the cover in question on her personal website . That won’t drive sales or mask the obvious relationship Kris has with In Touch Weekly or anything! The story alleges that Jenner threw a party in NYC late last month in order to celebrate the clan’s $40 million deal with E! , but Khloe left early, Kim skipped the event and Kris “started a fight with [Kourtney] about how she was raising her son… Kourtney was telling her to mind her own business. She said Khlo

Rihanna and Darren McFadden: New Couple Alert!

Are Rihanna and Darren McFadden of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders dating? The singer made no secret of their connection during a late-April trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, during which she also promoted her film, Battleship . The question is whether it’s a real relationship or just a typical fling. In any case, it sounds like the two hit it off quite nicely there. “Rihanna rushed into the ocean, but Darren had to be coaxed,” an onlooker reveals. “She kept calling his name, and at one point, she discreetly flashed him. That did the trick. He ran into the water, and they started kissing.” While they’ve only been “dating” a few weeks, the couple was spotted holding hands in the lobby of their hotel, The Kahala Hotel & Resort. Later, they were dancing at a club and cuddling in a lounge chair. But a source also says that there could be other motivations … like getting in Chris Brown ‘s head: “She’s using Darren to make him jealous.” On May 2, she made a point of wearing a Raiders shirt to a strip club, and tweeted numerous pictures in the hopes that Chris would see. Maybe she just likes silver and black attire? [Photo: WENN.com]

Sharon Simmons, 55-Year-Old Cheerleader, Tries Out For Dallas Cowboys’ Squad

Sharon Simmons has wanted to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader since her 20s. Now, at 55, the fitness model is finally reaching for her dreams. “I thought about this when I was about 22 years old. I was a single mom, and I wanted to do it,” said Simmons, a grandmother, in an interview. The 55-year-old cheerleader planned on auditioning decades ago, but money, time, and raising a family delayed her dream for half a lifetime. But last weekend Simmons finally tried out . Joining hundreds of others over the weekend to audition for the squad at Cowboys Stadium, she said: “It literally has been about the journey.” “I’ve met incredible people, I’ve learned so many new things.” Fox reports that Simmons has written a book about ageless fitness and has won several competitions in her successful career as a fitness model. She said: “I don’t see a number… If I do, it’s just a number. It’s not that I can’t keep up with [younger women] in the physical part of the training.” If Simmons makes the team, she will be the oldest cheerleader in the league. She won’t be, however, the only grandmother in the NFL, though. Suzie Sanchez of the Oakland Raiders is also a grandma … though Sanchez is only 37. Laura Vikmanis is currently the oldest NFL cheerleader at 42.
