Unarmed Black Man Killed By California Police Was A Morehouse Man

Q uestions were going unanswered in the case of a Nigerian-American man who was killed by sheriff’s deputies in San Mateo County, California, earlier this month. The family of Chinedu Valentine Okobi  criticized the cops for using excessive force in the Oct. 3 arrest of the man who they said suffered from mental illness. SEE ALSO:  Legal Claims Are Piling Up In Stephon Clark’s Shooting Death But No Justice Has Come Yet A memorial service for the 36-year-old father was planned for Tuesday at the San Francisco Christian Center, The San Francisco Chronicle reported. Okobi was walking in and out of traffic before two deputies tasered him multiple times to subdue and place him in handcuffs, authorities said. The violent arrest sent him into what tuned out to be a fatal cardiac arrest. All five officers involved in the incident were placed on paid leave. “All I know is a young man’s dead and he was in custody of the police. He was unarmed, not engaged in any serious crime,” stated John Burris , a civil rights attorney who’s representing Okobi’s family. Burris demanded transparency, calling on the district attorney to release more information, including police video. VIGIL FOR CHINEDU OKOBI, UNARMED FATHER KILLED BY POLICE TASER! He was also a spoken word poet who had strong views on issues and always well-dressed. About 10 years ago, he began to struggle with mental health issues. Okobi’s family suspected that he may have stopped taking his medication earlier this year. “This was a heavy-handed approach against someone who very likely was laboring under mental health conditions. They may have not known that up front, but observations should’ve alerted them that something was going on,” said Burris, who was also involved in the high-profile cases of Oscar Grant and Rodney King . Okobi is the latest victim in a series of several police killings of mentally ill Black men. The growing list includes Shaheed Vassell , Jontell Reedom and Marcus-David L. Peters . Wagstaffe expected the investigation to take between eight to 10 weeks. An autopsy report has not yet been completed. SEE ALSO: Where Is Kierra Coles? Nah Remy Ma, It’s Not OK For Non-Blacks Folks To Use The N-Word

Source: Santiago Felipe / Getty Wasn’t it just a few weeks ago when Remy Ma did the absolute most saying that she believed racism was behind Bill Cosby’s  2018 rape conviction and that not all of the 60-plus women accusing the fallen star of sexual assault were telling the truth? Well, apparently she’s back with more utter nonsense. This time’s she addressing the N-word and how she believes that non-Black folks can totally say ni$%a with no consequence. Apparently during a recent taping of the popular Revolt TV show  State of the Culture , the topic turned to Latino (but white-looking) rapper  Lil Xan, who recently got caught yelling the N-Word at a man in an Indianapolis mall food court. “I’m rich ni**a, I’m rich,” he screamed in a video TMZ published. “You broke ass b*tch!” Other folks on the panel including Scottie Beam and Brandon Jenkins weren’t here for the tomfoolery. Scottie said a word stressing that “Everybody wants to be an n***a until they’re a n***a.” But given Remy’s recent basic and contrarian behavior, to no one’s surprise, she had a different take. “I don’t usually get offended, regardless of what your nationality is if I feel like you’re not using it as a racial slur,” she said. “I hear it so frequently from people who aren’t black people. Like Fat Joe, he’s the blackest Spanish guy on this planet earth and I’ve never questioned did it.” Yeah, she tried it. SIGH…GIRL, WHET? Given the amount of nonsense here, there is a lot to unpack. Listen…I get that as African-Americans, we don’t all see eye to eye on whether we should use ni**a with one another or about one another, given the white supremacist nature of where the word derived from. While some of us, especially those in hip-hop, believe that we have reappropriated the term, stripping it of its negative connotation and making it ours, others continue to see it as a destructive racial slur and a means of bringing us down as a people. But even in that age-old debate, at least most of us (minus Black folks like Kanye  and Stacey Dash  pandering for white approval), can agree that whether or not Black folks choose to use the word, IT’S ONLY FOR US TO USE. POINT, BLANK, PERIOD. That simple philosophy is as understood as leaving your Pops the big piece of chicken, but for whatever reason this cultural norm refuses to register on Ms. Remy’s radar. But let me be clear: Regardless of whether artists, including those of color such as Fat Joe have been heavily influenced by Black culture and surround themselves with Black people, I could care less if you don’t think non-Black folks aren’t using the n-word as a slur. Why are they using the word at all? Better yet, what about you not being Black, or claiming your Blackness, makes you feel entitled to use the word in the first place? That, and quiet as it’s kept, it’s exhausting to witness folks bite off our culture for monetary gain and street cred, then simultaneously harbor anti-Black sentiment and co-sign of colorism as too many of us sit back and smile, saying nothing. But let Remy tell it, if it’s her homies and they “Black” in her eyes, it’s OK. No ma’am. You’ve let folks get too comfortable and we cannot afford for people to be this damn comfortable, especially living in Trump’s America. It’s become even more crucial for us to put our foot down on this issue, which includes you too Remy. Yes, we love you sis, but you’re one slip-up like away from joining the #CancelKanye tour if you don’t get it together. So please, stop giving non-Black folks a pass to use the n-word. We’re begging you. Best Way to Cure Anxiety is Sunday Scaries of the Day

You may be wondering what Sunday Scaries are…..as I’ve had banners FOR SUNDAY SCARIES on the site for the last two weeks. They are offering you a deal at checkout. 10 percent off using code DRUNKEN at checkout. Take advantage. Along with being our great partners, Sunday Scaries the anxiety that sets in on Sunday nights with the impending return to the office, school, or work….. I used to have a different kind of Sunday Scaries, that came from drinking too much until all hours of the morning….where my alcohol induced depression, my debilitating hangover, my extreme panic attacks and agoraphobia would set it….they were actually fucking scary. It wasn’t a “sad to go to work”…it was a empty pit in my stomach….that my brain thought was me fucking dying.. Whatever it is that makes you feel down and out on Sundays…or any day of the week..we’ve got the cure….I mean not an official cure…but something that will take off the edge…and definitely help. You may not know this, because I’m so fucking cool, laid back, normal via this site….but I used to have really fucked up anxiety and panic attacks. I’d go to the Emergency Room thinking I was having a heart attack, I wouldn’t leave the house for days because of Dizzy spells, I have been prescribed all kinds of anti-depressants I refused to take, because I hate pharma, I hate the idea of being a mindless drone, I feared losing my edge, my anger….so I worked through it, figured it out, decided I didn’t care if I died..and now can have a terrible anxiety inducing hangover without much freaking out….But it took years of effort, years of work, and I hate work…. So I’ve been open minded to all natural remedies, like I was Selena Gomez, anything to avoid big Pharma and Kidney Transplants to be able to keep up my shitty lifestyle, to just settle my mentalcase of a mind, and live my best, most focused life staring at the wall. I’ve been excited about all the CBD that’s been coming up. It’s a huge industry for a reason. It’s weed without getting high, since weed that gets me high gives me fucking crazy anxiety. Ultimately, it works. It’s anti inflammatory, it’s calming, it’s pain relieving lab tested. It’s from the earth and natural. It is crazy that it is or ever was ever illegal. Some weird government conspiracy to promote opiates and fuck up the world I guess… The world is an unsettling place, America has gone nuts, everyone is out for themselves in some weird self involved insanity, while they are out for blood from each other. Social media is crazy and ruining our souls, there’s so much noise, we are “on” all the time”…and anything to help remedy that is worth it for me…. So Thanks to SUNDAY SCARIES for bringing us the most fun way to take CBD…in the form of GUMMIES. They are offering you a deal at checkout. 10 percent off using code DRUNKEN at checkout. Take advantage. Who the fuck doesn’t like GUMMIES as a way to take your vitamins? They are fun, they taste good, like candy really, and they will help you. If gummies aren’t your thing, you can always get the good old fashioned TINCTURES I am not a doctor, I am not a snake oil salesman, I just think if you’ve got anxiety or depression, this can help, as it has helped me….but always do your own research and consult with your own doctor….and figure it out for yourself. It’s up to you to live your best life….not me… Here are some CBD loving girls to inspire you The post Best Way to Cure Anxiety is Sunday Scaries of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

Read Kanye’s Full White House Rant In The Oval Office, Word For Sunken Word

Read the original:

Source: Pool / Getty K anye West delivered the rant heard ’round the world on Thursday, when he visited his leader  Donald Trump in the White House. The meeting was billed as being about criminal justice reform in Chicago, seeing as Kanye’s hometown made a cameo appearance this week in the president’s speech to the nation’s police chiefs about the unconstitutional practice of stop-and-frisk. However, once Kanye was given the floor of the Oval Office, he took it and ran [amok] with it, mostly speaking inaccurately on everything from that revolting MAGA hat to the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery. Read the full text of Kanye’s latest rant below, courtesy of a transcription from New York magazine’s Vulture: “Here we have Larry Hoover’s lawyer with us today and it’s a prisoner that we’re focused on. He has six life sentences and they have him next to the unibomber doing 23 and 1 … Really the reason why they imprisoned [Larry Hoover] is because he started doing positive for the community. He started showing that he actually had power, he wasn’t just one of a monolithic voice but he could wrap people around, so there’s theories that there’s infinite amounts of universe, and there’s alternate universe, so it’s very important for me to get Hoover out because in an alternate universe, I am him. And I have to go and get him free because he was doing positive inside of Chicago, just like how I’m moving back to Chicago and it’s not just about, you know, getting on stage and being an entertainer, and having a monolithic voice that’s forced to be a specific party. “You know, people expect that if you’re black you have to be Democrat. I have conversations that basically said that welfare is the reason why a lot of black people end up being Democrat they say – you know first of all, it’s a limit to amount of jobs, so the fathers lose the job and they say, ‘We’ll give you more money for having more kids in your home.’ And then we got rid of the mental health institutes in the 80s and the 90s and the prison rates just shot up. And now you have Chiraq, what people call Chiraq, which actually, our murder rate is going down by 20 per cent every year. I just talked to the superintendent, met with Michael Sacks, that’s Ron’s right hand man. So, I think it’s the bravery that helps you beat this game called life. You know they tried to scare me to not wear this hat, my own friends, but this hat, it gives me power in a way. “You know, my dad and my mom separated, so I didn’t have a lot of male energy in my home. And also I’m married now into a family that, you know, not a lot of male energy going on, it’s beautiful though. But there’s times where, you know, it’s something about, I love Hillary, I love everyone, right, but the campaign “I’m With Her” just didn’t make me feel as a guy that didn’t get to see my dad all the time, like a guy that could play catch with his son. It was something about when I put this hat on, it made me feel like Superman. You made us Superman, that’s my favorite superhero, and you made a Superman cape for me. “Also as a guy that looks up to you, looks up to Ralph Lauren, looks up to American industry guys. Non-political, no bullshit [looks at media members] – put the beep on it, however you want to do it, five seconds delay – and just goes in and gets it done. Right now, you gave me the heart to go to Adidas. When I went in, in 2015, we were a $14 billion company losing $2 billion a year. Now, we have $38 billion market cap. It’s called “The Yeezy Effect.” And went and I said, “You have to bring manufacturing on-shore. Not even on-shore, into the core. It’s not about the borders. The core of Adidas, and Chicago, is the core of middle America, and we have to make middle America strong. “So, I had the balls, because I have enough balls to put on this hat. I mean, this Adidas thing made me a billionaire. And I could have lost $200 million walking away from that deal. But even with that, I knew it was more important for me to take the chance of walking away from that deal, than to have no fathers in Chicago, with no homes. And when we do have prison reformation, not rehabilitation, because they didn’t have the abilities in the first place. We never had anyone who taught us, they didn’t teach us. Then any specific deal, anything, that we bring jobs into America. And that we provide a transition with mental health and the AmeriCan education curriculum that Jim has worked on. Larry Hoover also has a curriculum that he’s worked on. We have Montessori curriculums that we worked on. WeWorks has beautiful curriculum. The Waldorf establishment has a curriculum. We have meditation. “There’s a lot of things affecting our mental health that makes us do crazy things, that puts us back into that trap door that’s called the 13th Amendment. I did say, “abolish,” with the hat on, because why would you keep something around that’s a trap door. If you building a floor, the constitution is the base of our industry, of our country, of our company. Would you build a trap door that if you mess up and accidentally something happens, you fall and you end up next to the Uni-bomber, you gotta remove all that trapdoor out of the relationship. The four gentleman that wrote the 13th Amendment, and I think the way the universe works is perfect, we don’t have 13 floors, do we? You know, the four gentleman that wrote the 13th amendment didn’t look like the people they were amending. Also, at that point, it was illegal for blacks to read, or African Americans, to read. So, that meant if you actually read the Amendment, you’d get locked up! And turned into a slave. Again, so what I think is, we don’t need sentences, we need pardons. We need to talk to people. “I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I was connected with a neuropsychologist that works with the athletes in the NBA and NFL. He looked at my brain, it’s equal on three parts. I’m gonna go ahead, drop some bombs for you. 98 percentile IQ test, I had a 75 percentile of all human beings when it was counting eight numbers backwards, so I’m gonna work on that one. The other ones, 98 percent, Tesla, Freud. So, he said that I actually wasn’t bipolar, I had sleep deprivation, which could cause dementia 10-20 years from now, where I wouldn’t even remember my son’s name. So, all this power that I’ve got, and I’m taking my son to the Sox game and all that, I wouldn’t be able to remember his name, from a misdiagnosis. What we need is, we can empower the pharmaceuticals and make more money. That’s one thing, I’ve never stepped into a situation where I didn’t make people more money. So, we can empower pharmaceuticals, we can empower our industries, we can empower our factories, we can bring, not only Adidas on shore, we could bring Foxconn and set up a factory in, I think, Minnesota [corrected by Trump that it’s Wisconsin]. “Yeah, Wisconsin. They have 4,000 jobs, people making 53,000 a year. And one of the things we gotta set is, Ford to have the highest designs. The dopest cars. The most amazing. I don’t really say, “dope,” I don’t say negative words and try to flip ‘em. We just say positive, lovely, divine, universal words. So, the flyest, freshest, most amazing car. And what we start with, is – I brought a GIF with me right here. [Scrolls through iPhone to show Trump.] This right here is the iPlane 1. It’s a hydrogen powered airplane, and this is what our president should be flying in. We’re gonna have Apple, an American company, work on this plane. “What I need Saturday Night Live to improve on, or what I need the liberals to improve on is, if he don’t look good [pointing to Trump], we don’t look good. This is our President. He has to be the freshest, the flyest, the flyest planes, the best factories. And we have to make our core be empowered. We have to bring jobs into America, because our best export is entertainment and ideas. But when we make everything in China and not America, then we’re cheating on our country, and we’re putting people in positions to have to do illegal things to end up in the cheapest factory every, the prison system.” SEE ALSO: Kanye West ‘Can’t Say’ If Abraham Lincoln Was Black Or White Snoop Dogg Rips Into Kanye For Loving Trump: ‘F**k You!’ [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3831284″ overlay=”true”]

Catelynn Lowell: SLAMMED By Fans For "Selfish" and "Unsafe" Behavior

Catelynn Lowell has endured a number of hardships and setbacks in recent years, and the honesty with which she's addressed these struggles has made her a favorite amongst Teen Mom OG viewers. But the show documents every part of its stars' lives, so perhaps it was only a matter of time before fans began to see aspects of Catelynn's character that they didn't find quite so endearing. Many feel that the current season of Teen Mom OG has portrayed Catelynn in an unflattering light. Some have even accused of her endangering her unborn baby. Here's what viewers have to say about the new and not-so-improved Catelynn Lowell:   1. Better Days For years, Lowell was regarded as one of the most down-to-earth and relatable stars of the Teen Mom franchise. 2. Hard Times Fans rooted for her as she endured mental health issues, a tragic miscarriage, and other hardships that put her marriage and her psyche to the test. 3. The Baltierra Bond Catelynn and Tyler have endured difficulties that would have driven any young couple to the brink of divorce, but they’ve stuck by one another throughout. Or have they? 4. An Uneven Partnership Part of the reason Catelynn is receiving so much blowback this season is that viewers believe she’s failing to properly support Tyler the way he’s supported her in the past. 5. The Low Point In the past, Tyler happily assumed the majority of the parental responsibilities while Catelynn checked in for extended stays at in-patient treatment facilities on two separate occasions. 6. Failing Her Family? Now, some fans feel that Catelynn is not only neglecting her husband’s needs as he attends to his own mental health issues, she’s also failing to keep up with her own treatment.
