Amy Winehouse Tribute Steals Show At ‘VH1 Divas’

‘VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul’ featured performances by Kelly Clarkson, Florence Welch, Jessie J and many others. By Jocelyn Vena Jennifer Hudson,Kelly Clarkson and Mary J Blige perform onstage during VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Glittering clothes , big voices and sassy songs about love, loss and everything in between ruled the night during “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul.” The concert was filled with booty-shaking, sing-along performances from Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Florence and the Machine , Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Jessie J and others, who rocked the Hammerstein Ballroom for the show, which aired Monday night (December 19) on VH1. With an assist from the night’s house band the Roots, it all kicked off with Hudson, Clarkson and Blige channeling the Supremes for “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” before launching into a medley of their own tracks, “Spotlight,” “Real Love” and “Since U Been Gone.” The performance set the tone for the night, which not only paid homage to the women in the room, both legendary and up-and-coming, but also the cities that birthed some of the most soulful songs in music history, including Chicago, London, Detroit, Philadelphia and Memphis, Tennessee. Through the night, divas from all walks of life, including Erykah Badu, Estelle, Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, Martha Reeves, Marsha Ambrosius and Ledisi, as well as a few divos (Boyz II Men and Travie McCoy), sang some of the biggest hits from soul music’s lush history. The set list included a sampling of tracks like “Nowhere to Run” by Martha and the Vandellas, “Walking on Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox, “I’ll Take You There” by the Staple Singers and “Ain’t Nobody” by Khan herself. When the cities themselves weren’t being honored, the divas were, with solo performances that demonstrated the ladies’ killer vocal prowess. Florence Welch, Clarkson, Sharon Jones, Jessie J, Scott, Hudson and Blige each took the stage to give some shine to their own tracks and pop styles, proving that soul music is a genre that is still alive and well. The Amy Winehouse tribute was the culmination of the night. Although “VH1 Divas” was all about the living performers who belted out songs at the concert, the presence of one diva gone too soon was certainly felt. Instead of focusing on the loss suffered when the British songstress died over the summer, the show focused on a celebration of her music. “What’s up New York?” the tribute’s MC, Nas, asked the room. “When the legendary Amy Winehouse sang about me in her song ‘Me and Mr. Jones,’ I was so honored. Amy Winehouse was my true soul sister.” The two worked together on her Lioness: Hidden Treasures track, “Like Smoke.” “I’m here to honor a woman who had enough soul to last a lifetime,” he added. The presence of his “home girl” was felt in the room thanks to her game-changing music as reimagined by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings (the latter of whom worked with her on her Back to Black album), Florence Welch and Wanda Jackson. The medley included her soul-killing breakup track “Back to Black” and her sassy anthem “You Know I’m No Good.” Related Artists Amy Winehouse Kelly Clarkson Jennifer Hudson Florence + the Machine Mary J. Kate Middleton Dazzles in Alexander McQueen Dress, Honors Heroes

In case you thought Kate Middleton got any less stylish over the past few months, you were mistaken! Not that anyone in their right mind would think that. Anyway. The Duchess of Cambridge turned heads this weekend at London’s annual military awards show designed to recognize servicemen and women throughout the UK. The 29-year-old wife of Prince William wore a beautiful black Alexander McQueen gown as she and husband William attended “A Night of Heroes.” Take a look … Yes, that is Prince Harry creeping in the background . The gown, which appeared to be strapless and black velvet, was accessorized with sparkly earrings and a necklace that she reportedly received as royal wedding gifts. Kate’s wedding dress, of course, was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The girl definitely has her favorites … and exquisite taste, if you ask us. Wills, meanwhile, looked dapper in a classic black tux at the event, part of a busy week for the couple, who will spend Christmas at the palace and with her family. All in all, they make Britain proud with each public appearance. Check out our gallery of Kate Middleton pictures for more fashion highlights from the past year! [Photos: Fame Pictures]

Florence And The Machine Call Illuminati Rumor ‘Ridiculous’

Florence Welch talks about occult accusations surrounding ‘No Light, No Light’ video: ‘In a weird way, it’s slightly complimentary.’ By James Montgomery Florence Welch Photo: MTV News By now, you have probably seen Florence and the Machine ‘s video for “No Light, No Light,” and perhaps even read a few online comments about the clip, which seem to focus on its rather-heavy use of religious iconography and how that is irrefutable proof that frontwoman Florence Welch is either a practitioner of the dark arts or a full-fledged member of (dun dun dunnn!) the Illuminati. Of course, all of this was news to Welch herself, who laughed off the accusations when she sat down with MTV News last week — even if she did find them oddly flattering. “That’s ridiculous. Really? So people [think that?]” she asked. “I heard Jay-Z and Beyonc

VH1 Divas Bring Style, Soul To Red Carpet

Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson sparkle at ‘VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul,’ airing tonight at 9 p.m. ET. By Christina Garibaldi Jennifer Hudson Photo: Getty Images Some of the industry’s biggest divas brought more than just soul to “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” on Sunday night: they also brought style. The annual show, which this year celebrates the birthplaces of soul music, is set to air Monday (December 19) at 9 p.m. ET on VH1. MTV News hit the red carpet at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom, where we got to preview the fashion. Jennifer Hudson showed off her stunning figure in a skin-tight Francesco Scognamiglio dress with a ruffled neckline. The Oscar winner completed the look with thigh-high rose-colored boots, also by Francesco Scognamiglio. Mary J. Blige worked the carpet in a champagne-colored, crystal-embellished gown from Michael Kors. Champagne seemed to be a trend for the night, as Florence and the Machine ‘s Florence Welch also opted for a nude color in an embroidered Antonio Berardi dress. Welch was on hand to honor the late Amy Winehouse . “It’s a real honor, actually, to be counted amongst these amazing female performers,” Welch told MTV News on Friday. “It’s really special for me, because I am still a relatively new artist, and to be up there with these really established singers is amazing for me … I’m really grateful.” British songstress Jessie J, who never shies away from taking fashion risks, bared almost all in a sheer black dress with gold detailing, complete with shoulder pads and a black panel bottom. The boys also held their own against powerful divas like Kelly Clarkson and Jill Scott, as Travie McCoy and Boyz II Men took the “Divas” stage. Tune in to “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” on Monday, December 19, at 9 p.m. ET on VH1! Related Photos ‘VH1 Divas’ Celebrates Soul In New York City Related Artists Jennifer Hudson Mary J. Blige

Michelle McGee Sex Tape: So Real. So Wrong.

Michelle “Bombshell” McGee , the tattooed, fame-seeking floozy who broke up Jesse James’ marriage to Sandra Bullock in 2010, apparently starred in a sex tape. Shocking, we know. McGee got down and dirty with two equally-tattooed sex fiends earlier this year, and the private XXX liaisons were all caught on tape. Seriously. TMZ has a pic . Unlike the Tupac sex tape, which was just sold to a private collector, the Michelle McGee sex tape is now in the hands of a giant porn company. Yeah baby. The Bombshell footage documents two separate sexual encounters: 1. With a tatted-up dude; 2. With a tatted-up woman. Both were filmed in the last year. It’s unclear how, but we’re told the tapes were acquired by porn giant Red Light District (of 1 Night in Paris fame) which plans to release the footage next year. Somehow we don’t imagine that will be a big seller, even if it is a hot 2-DVD box set. McGee, for once in her waste of a life, could not be reached for comment. [Photo: WENN.com]

‘VH1 Divas’ History: From Katy Perry To Kelly Clarkson

This year’s show, airing at 9 p.m. ET/PT Monday on VH1, will feature Florence Welch and a tribute to Amy Winehouse. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Getty Images Sunday night (December 18), some of the music industry’s most-soulful divas will be taking the stage for the latest installment of “VH1 Divas.” For some, like Kelly Clarkson , it’s a return engagement, but for others, like Florence and the Machine leading lady Florence Welch, it’s the chance to display diva-like prowess for the first time. Since the show kicked off in 1998, it’s had a long history of getting some of the biggest female performers in the world on the same stage belting out some of pop’s best tunes. That first show gathered Aretha Franklin, Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Mariah Carey, quickly becoming a pop-culture milestone. It even prompted the ladies of “Saturday Night Live” to poke fun at the over-the-top singing styles and personalities of the women chosen for the show. In the 11 years since the premiere episode of the concert special, everyone from old-school belters to new-school singing sensations have been billed as “divas.” The show ran annually until 2004, after which it took a break for several years. By the time the show was re-launched in 2009, a whole new crop of pop superstars had emerged. In ’09, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, Adele and Miley Cyrus proved their diva status, taking the stage and ushering in a new era. A year later, in 2010, Nicki Minaj, Sugarland, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Keri Hilson, Paramore and Katy Perry brought some new-millennium glamour to the show. That year, the show was dedicated to supporting soldiers and billed “VH1 Divas Salute the Troops” event. This year’s show, airing at 9 p.m. ET/PT Monday on VH1, will bring Clarkson, Welch, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott and Jessie J to the stage. In a tribute introduced by Nas, Welch, Wanda Jackson, and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings will honor late soul singer Amy Winehouse . VH1 also will pay tribute to the prominent birthplaces of soul music, including Chicago, Detroit, London, Philadelphia and Memphis, Tennessee. The divas are expected to pay homage to these cities and the genre with their own soulful tracks as well as some of soul music’s classic tunes onstage at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. And the celebration is not exclusive to women: The Roots have been confirmed as the event’s house band, and ?uestlove is set to pull double duty as musical director. Boyz II Men and Travie McCoy also will perform. “VH1 Divas” airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT Monday on VH1. Tank’s Sexy Guide: How To Make Love To A Woman!

Original post:

There comes a time in every woman’s life when she realizes that all her previous sexual engagements, weren’t really as great as she thought they were. It usually occurs after you meet a man more interested in pleasing a woman than he is in pleasing himself. He takes the time to caress you, hold you, and pays attention to every crevice of your body. You are his focus and nothing else matters more than taking you to the highest level of sensation. It isn’t always about the size of his tool or the location in which the action takes place, but more about the anticipation a mature man knows how to induce and fulfill. We caught up with R&B artist Tank who gave us his “How To” guide for properly making love to a woman. Who better than a sexy muscular man who prides himself on being a savior to women? The mosaic of a man, recently released a new mixtape – Diary Of A Madman , which is the perfect soundtrack to the perfect night! Sex is all about the appetizer , it’s got to start off right. The appetizer has to consist of mental stimulation more than anything. There has to be a sexy conversation about what you like, what you don’t like and what things have made you want to explode until you scream. Moments of getting close and not going there, moments of going out on a date and spending time with one another–by the night, you want to do it so bad… but you settle for a hug and a kiss and keep it moving. A couple weeks of the build-up, the anticipation becomes so crazy. Finally when you get to that point there’s already magic in the air. Once you get in there , you get your soundtrack together ( Tank-Diary Of A Madman ) make sure Rick Ross doesn’t come on at any point and start with the little things. I’m all about the extremities: the hands, the feet, the legs, the Achilles tendon, back of the knee and behind the neck. Right above a woman’s butt there’s a spot… if you just lick there. You have to take care of all of these things, it is called prepping the ham before it goes into the oven. I’m a pleaser, I like to take control! Then it’s about what your working with and how you stroke it . 4 Quick Questions: If you were forced to get a tattoo at gun point what would you get? “Thuglife” on my stomach [Laughs]. If they got a gun I got to show them I’m hard too. What secret urge do you get often but never act on? To jump off a building and try to fly. For some reason I want fly really bad.” What do you look for in a woman? First, I look for pretty feet. I’m a feet man. If your feet aren’t up to par, you gets no run! Are you single? Yes! Stay tuned for Part 2 where Tank dishes on his new album, gives us a groupie tale and tells us his future plans!

The honor is the culmination of an insanely busy year for Perry, but she still found a few minutes to send a big “thank you” to everyone for her incredible success over the past 12 months. “Hi everyone at MTV! So thank you so much. I really appreciate it.” Perry was all over the radio in 2011, thanks to hit singles like “E.T.,” “The One That Got Away” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” She appeared on the big screen in “The Smurfs” and the small screen hosting “Saturday Night Live.” She hit the road for her California Dreams Tour, kept us captivated with videos like the VMA-winning “Firework” and “E.T.” and always had us talking, whether it was about what she was wearing, tweeting or saying.
