Rapper T.I is being released from halfway house. Where he’s spending his last days after serving a year sentence for violating his probation last year. When he gets out he’s going to do it BIG! He’s inviting exclusive VIP guests to his welcome home party on Sunday October 2nd at an undisclosed location. Talks are that the party’s already estimated at $100,000! Here’s what TMZ is reporting: “T.I. is re-writing the book when it comes to welcome home parties — because the recently-released rapper isn’t throwing himself a nightclub bash … he’s having a brunch in Atlanta! But don’t expect tea and crumpets — we’re told good pal Diddy is personally shipping in 150 bottles of Ciroc, one for each person in attendance. We’re told the whole bash will cost around $100K, with $20K just on food and additional $8K on dessert. The big surprise of the night — reps from AKOO Clothing, T.I.’s clothing line, will measure the VIP guests for custom-made clothing gifts. It’s set to go down on October 2, two days after T.I. gets released from the halfway house”.
Young Money MC will appear alongside host Anna Faris on October 15 episode. By James Dinh Drake Photo: Getty Images On October 15, Drake will make his “Saturday Night Live” debut in an episode hosted by Anna Faris. NBC made the announcement Monday (September 26), also revealing that Ben Stiller and musical guest Foster the People are booked for the October 8 show. Drake’s appearance will come just before the release of his sophomore effort, Take Care, which hits stores October 24 (also his birthday). It also marks the second time a Young Money artist has graced the late-night sketch show this year; Nicki Minaj served as musical guest back in February. News of Drizzy’s “SNL” gig comes just days after the rapper took to his October’s Very Own blog to unveil his Take Care LP artwork . In addition to the visual, Drake also wrote a short note to his fans, in which he admitted his anticipation about finally dropping the project. “Feels like it’s been so long,” he wrote, before asking a series of questions about awaiting special moments. “Maybe our anticipation is justified by the fact that we genuinely cannot wait to share a moment again? Either way, your life and mine are scheduled to meet on October 24 … I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Drake told MTV News early this month that the LP’s lead single, “Headlines,” was the perfect tune to launch the project. “I think it’s great; the purpose of that record was solely to deliver a message,” he said. “I could’ve gone with the record that was sort of super radio-friendly, but I really just wanted to talk to the people with the first record.” “Headlines” is just one of many tunes the OVOXO star has released to appease fans’ appetites. Just a few weeks ago, the hip-hop heavyweight dropped even more new material, including “Club Paradise,” “Free Spirit” and a remix of Waka Flocka Flame’s “Round of Applause.” Are you excited to see Drake on “SNL”? ‘To come and sell out Irving Plaza real quick is great, man,’ the ‘Donald Trump’ MC tells MTV News before Thursday night concert. By Rob Markman Mac Miller Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — What a difference a year makes. Last year Mac Miller hit the intimate S.O.B.’s to perform his first show in the city, but on Thursday night, the Pittsburgh rap phenomenon returned to the much-larger Irving Plaza to begin his Blue Slide Park Tour before a sold-out crowd. “The transition is crazy, like seeing how things build,” Mac told MTV News just hours before taking the stage on Thursday. “In New York, in S.O.B.’s, I was freaking out about that, man. I was like, ‘Man, there all these people here for me.’ So to come and sell out Irving Plaza real quick is great, man. That’s why I do what I do — to keep on growing and building.” The young energetic crowd of teens and 20-somethings, who were mostly dressed in Miller’s “Most Dope” T-shirts, welcomed the opening acts, but as the clock ticked, they grew impatient. With the stage lights dark, the throng of supporters held their thumbs up (a hand signal Mac Miller and his fans share in a sign of solidarity) and began to chant “Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac.” Finally, at 9:22 p.m. ET, the charismatic rhyme dealer emerged onstage from a cloud of smoke. Miller began rapping as the tinkling from his “Best Day Ever” track filled the concert hall. “I never take a day off/ Work around the clock my engineer getting paid off,” he rapped, taking center stage in a New York Yankees snapback and a blue zip-up hoodie. The stage design matched Miller’s Blue Slide Park album theme. There were street lights, a park bench and Mac’s DJ’s booth was set up to look like an ice-cream cart. Performing fan favorites from his K.I.D.S. and Best Day Ever mixtapes, Mac breezed through songs like “Get Up,” the Al B. Sure-sampling “Ride Around” and “Senior Skip Day.” When the Empire of the Sun-tinged “The Spins” dropped, Mac didn’t have to say a word as the crowd performed the song’s opening lyrics for him. “Wanna get a mansion, a Jacuzzi, a theater to watch my movies,” recited concertgoers from the front to the back of the venue as the 19-year-old MC sported a Kool-Aid smile. With the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand, MM turned from rapper to rock star when he pulled out a white guitar for the mellowed-out “Another Night Alone,” which he strummed onstage for the first time ever, much to the crowd’s delight. At the end of the song, Miller screamed proudly, “Yeah mother—-er, I play guitar and sh– too.” Tracks like “In the Air,” “Good Evening” and “All Around the World” brought the energy back up as fanatics bounced up and down with their hands waving in the air. There were also dedications to his deceased grandfather (“Poppy”) and his mother, who was in attendance (“I’ll Be There”), but the biggest thrill came at the end. After performing the rambunctious “Knock, Knock,” Mac abruptly left the stage only to re-emerge for an encore. And the hook to the set-ending “Donald Trump” couldn’t have been more fitting. “We gonna take over the world, while these haters get mad,” Mac Miller sang. Maybe he hasn’t taken over the world just yet, but last night Mac certainly conquered NYC! Related Artists Mac Miller

Lakers star — now known as Metta World Peace — couldn’t cut it in week one. By Kara Warner Peta Murgatroyd and Ron Artest Photo: ABC Networks As much as the studio crowd might have been rooting for World Peace, they didn’t get it. Basketball star Ron Artest — now known as Metta World Peace — couldn’t garner enough votes with his cha-cha and was the first to go on season 13 of “Dancing With the Stars.” The field of 12 competing couples was trimmed down to 11, and the L.A. Lakers player and partner Peta Murgatroyd were sent packing. The first elimination round was action-packed. The professional dancers kicked things off with a sizzling group number set to an amped-up version of Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory,” followed by the gradual, performance-interspersed reveal of the couples named to the bottom three: Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke, Metta and Murgatroyd and later Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus. The headlining performers for the evening included musician/actor Harry Connick Jr. and self-described party rockers LMFAO. Connick wowed the crowd with his soulful rendition of the titular number from his upcoming Broadway revival, “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.” The expectedly energetic and colorfully dressed LMFAO kept it classy for network TV with a medley of their new single “Sexy and I Know It” and their summer dance club sensation “Party Rock Anthem.” Despite receiving one of the three lowest scores on the first night of competition, Italian TV host and George Clooney ex Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmerkovskiy were voted through. And the biggest cheers of the night from both the audience and dancers occurred when Chaz Bono and partner Lacey Schwimmer were safe. Looking at the leader board moving into week two, the couples with the highest scores are Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani and J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff. It should also be noted that MTV alum Kristin Cavallari and partner Mark Ballas are not far behind. Were you sad to see Metta/Ron voted off in week one? Let us know in the comments!
It’s a slow week for marquee nudes on DVD and Blu-ray, with the non-nude Bridesmaids, starring Kristin Wiig and Rose Byrne , leading the pack. Genre fans will have a much slappier week, however, as a barrage of scary skin flicks including sorority slasher The Initiation (1984), gastropod gorefest Slugs (1988) , and Ozploitation opus Dead-End Drive In (1986) hit DVD. Also new on DVD and Blu-ray, sink your teeth into the lady bloodsuckers of Vamp (1986) and We Are the Night (2011). More after the jump!
Singer says ‘it got bloody’ when he was attacked by a group of young men last month in New York City. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker Gavin DeGraw Photo: MTV News Getting ready for the release of his fourth studio album, Sweeter, singer Gavin DeGraw dropped by MTV News’ studios to discuss his excitement for the album, his upcoming tour with “American Idol” alum David Cook , and, of course, to give us the full story behind the unfortunate “incident” that landed the singer in the emergency room last month. “I’m so excited about touring for this record,” Gavin said, bursting with excitement. “I think that the music on this record is going to make for a really exciting show.” The always-smiling soul/rock singer of smash hits like “I Don’t Want to Be,” “Chariot” and “In Love With a Girl” is excited to bring together all of his music for one epic show when he hits the road with Cook this fall. Judging by his hearty laughter and great enthusiasm for his new material, you’d never guess that the soulful rock singer had recently taken a severe beating by a group of unidentified men in New York City’s East Village late one summer night. Gavin had a night off in New York City while touring with Maroon 5 and Train and decided to spend it with a few friends at the National Underground, a New York City bar he co-owns with his brother. “I had a few drinks, and I put them in a cab,” Gavin recalled. “Typically, when I’m at that place, I’ll walk home afterwards. I walk a few blocks, and then I cross paths with some people who had something to say to me. Gavin explained that is where details became hazy and “it got bloody.” When the attackers fled, Gavin was left to get himself to the emergency room, but the misfortune didn’t end there.” “I ended up having to go to the hospital in an ambulance,” Gavin said. “What they think is either I got hit by a cab or I went over and grabbed the handle of the cab to get in and this guy just saw some bloody dude trying to get into his car and hit the gas, which knocked me off into the sidewalk.” Despite the terrible night, Gavin remains very positive about his relationship with his family, friends, fans and New York City itself. “I happened to have a rough night in New York,” Gavin said in defense of the city that never sleeps. “But the whole night wasn’t rough. Actually for the most part, the night was amazing. I just had a rough couple of minutes at the end of it.” Gavin likened the poor circumstances of that night to gambling. “If New York was a casino, the odds are pretty good. I’ve had thousands of great nights out in New York, and I lost at the roulette wheel one night, but I usually win big money.” Gavin had a word of advice for people who know someone who finds him- or herself in similar circumstances: “If something does happen to a friend of theirs or a loved one, it does go a long way when you just even send a text message out to somebody. Just the distraction of having someone reach out to you is actually pleasant.” Related Artists Gavin DeGraw
