Demi Lovato Hopes To Inspire Others With Her ‘Honest Journey’

Singer explains why she chose ‘Skyscraper’ as her first single instead of ‘just another dance song.’ By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato at the 2011 VMAs Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage Demi Lovato proclaimed her inner strength on the emotional power ballad, “Skyscraper,” the lead single off her album, Unbroken, which drops later this month. The track immediately connected with her fans, who have stuck by her side over the last year as she’s battled personal issues. Their support of the track, Lovato explained to MTV News last week, has given her newfound strength as she sets out to launch the next phase of her bustling music career. “When the song came out, it went #1 on iTunes instantly and it was so surprising to me,” she said at a fan meet-and-greet in Los Angeles, where Lovatics lined up for blocks to meet Demi . “I wasn’t expecting that at all. It’s been such a whirlwind, and I’ve been so blessed and so thankful for it.” In “Skyscraper,” Lovato confronts her issues — the ones for which she sought treatment last fall — because, she said, she wanted to keep her fans in the loop about her growth as a person. “I’ve been pretty honest,” she said. “My whole journey has been about telling my story and hoping that when I share my story, it inspires somebody. So, when I decided to come out with a single that was honest and about my journey and about standing strong and tall like a skyscraper, I hope that it inspired people. “I thought that there was a bigger opportunity for me to come out with a song that would inspire people, rather than it be just another dance song on the radio,” she added. Sure, “Skyscraper” has a message, but there are also some fun tracks on the album, Demi promises, including her Missy Elliott/Timbaland collabo, “All Night Long.” “The song that Missy and I did together, Timbaland’s actually on it, too, and it’s fun,” she said. “It’s about staying up all night long and singing it to the boy that you like, and it’s flirty and fun and it’s not too grown-up, but it’s grown-up enough.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers Feel The ‘Love’ On I’m With You

Chili Peppers reveal secret to their longevity — and their brand-new album — to MTV News. By James Montgomery Anthony Kiedis and Josh Klinghoffer of Red Hot Chili Peppers Photo: MTV News You would think, given everything that went into the making of I’m With You, that perhaps the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be content to ride off into the sunset. After all, their place in rock history is more than secure, and, really, at this point, why would they endure another hiatus or departure from the fold? Then again, if you really think that, then perhaps you don’t know the Red Hot Chili Peppers. To them, calling it quits has never been an option , and, recharged by the addition of new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and their brand-new album, they’re raring to go another 28 years. “I feel as excited or more excited about this period — from the writing to the recording to the playing to the anticipation of going on tour — as I’ve ever felt about anything that we’ve done, from the beginning,” RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis told MTV News. “Sitting here, doing these interviews, listening to Josh — I often just go into a daydream of playing these songs live. And it’s the same feeling I got in 1983, when I couldn’t sleep the night before a show, and if I did fall asleep, I’d have a surreal little dream about the show itself, and, you know, I still have that feeling about this record … it’s a good feeling.” And really, that feeling is the key. Because unlike the thousands of bands that have risen, peaked and crumbled during the Peppers’ career, they’ve never faltered, even during their darkest hours (and there have been plenty of those). But ask them to explain their rather remarkable longevity, and they’ll chalk it all up to one basic feeling: love. It’s what’s pushed them to remarkable heights and pulled them back from the brink more times than they’d care to count. And with I’m With You, that love remains stronger than ever. “There’s probably 1 billion keys, but love could be the strongest: love of what we do and each other,” Kiedis explained. “And just being fortunate enough to create a band that survives this long kind of generates its own sustainability.” “And trusting yourself enough to be yourself and to take yourself as far as you can go,” bassist Flea added. “Not ever trying to do any kind of art to fit in to anything else and just being yourself. We’ve gone out of being real cool, not real cool a bunch of times. So believing in that love: That’s the key.” Related Videos MTV First: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Teen Mom Recap: Learning From Our Mistakes

On last night’s Teen Mom, there were no major bombshells or blowout fights. Just a lot of family moments we can all relate to. Well, for the most part. Clearly, Catelynn’s family situation is unique, while Amber’s entire existence is complete upheaval. But this episode was more about the little things for all. In which case, bravo, MTV. Let’s break down last night’s Teen Mom: “I’m just excited to have one of my stable parents around again.” – Catelynn Lowell. Minus 7 for the fact that the bar is set so low. We’ve arrived at the point where “stable” means non-incarcerated and relatively non-insane. Plus 4 , though, because at least Dave trusts Catelynn’s judgment. Despite not seeing Catelynn in four years, Dave, who’s in Michigan for a job opportunity, proclaims Tyler a “good kid” and seems accepting of his daughter and where she is in her life nowadays. All in all, it could be worse. Plus 8 . “I’m trying to learn from my mistakes, and you can call me anytime and I’ll talk through the night,” he says. “If she loves you and believes in you, then I do. I’d be proud to have you as my son-in-law.” Sniff!! Plus 6 . Farrah Abraham is somehow still on this kick about moving far, far away to go to school, or do whatever it is she plans to do. Somehow we don’t think she can afford these places in L.A., or Scottsdale as the case is here. Minus 5 . “This is becoming a huge waste of time.” – Farrah. Indeed. Minus 9 . Maci Bookout laments that she will lose time with Bentley if she signs up for classes. Well, sure. But education does have its benefits. Like helping you GETTING A DECENT JOB TO SUPPORT HIM DOWN THE ROAD. Minus 15 for even having to say that. “Don’t look at it as something you hate and don’t want to do. Look at it as something that you’ve got to do to do anything else.” – Maci’s mom FTW! Plus 6 . Kyle’s got this, we feel like. He’s gonna see her through. Plus 3 . Also, Plus 5 because at least this put an end to that baby talk . Ryan even did some light bonding with Bentley. Plus 3 . On this episode, Amber Portwood is dating Clinton Yunker ! We remember that guy! This show is like watching a retrospective on THG sometimes! Plus 4 . Gary Shirley tells his brother he and Amber “may not belong together right now,” but he wishes they were together. Makes absolutely no sense. Minus 10 . Watching Leah’s face light up when Amber plugs in the tree is pure magic. Enough to make you forget what a mess they are, if only for a moment. Plus 9 . EPISODE TOTAL: +9. SEASON TOTAL: +1.

Last night was the second episode of “Lala’s Full Court Life” on Vh1. On this episode, Lala helped celebrate her Bff Kelly Rowland’s 30th birthday. Lala, Kelly and Po released some stress at the gun range and then Kelly got her very first tattoo with her bff’s Lala and Serena Williams by her side. Lala then let us into her personal life and showed us that even for a super star like her, booking gigs and getting auditions is not easy and requires hard work! She took us behind the scenes as she was getting ready to host the red carpet at the “Critics Choice Awards” and even let us in on her “wardrobe malfunction”. Lala also touched on Carmelo’s NBA trade and the rumors that he wanted to leave Denver and head to New York only because of her. I absolutely love Lala’s show because it shows such positivity relationships with love, family and friendship. It’s great to see a positive black couple on reality television for a change with minimal drama! What did you think about this week’s episode? Will you tune into next week’s episode? “She Want Me!”: Best Moments From Last Night’s “The T.O Show” [RECAP]

Last night was the second episode of “The T.O Show.” Terrell is still recovering from his traumatic surgery and his doctors tell him that it will be challenging for him to play football in the upcoming season. Terrell becomes even more motivated from the doctor’s words and he puts his plan into action to be ready to go for the season. Kita reluctantly becomes Terrell’s “nurse” and tries her best to help him get better in the best way she can. She attempts to cook him a meal which turns out HORRIBLE and according to T.O had “strands of hair and weave all up in it!” Kita then goes to pick up Terrell’s black and yellow sports car from Alabama and blast’s Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” all the way back to Florida before getting stuck in a ditch! The show ends with Terrell and Kita having a playful/ flirtatious argument which makes it so obvious that they like each other!! LOL Did you enjoy last night’s episode? Will you tune in next week? My name is Seante. On Justin’s birthday, rumors surfaced…

My name is Seante. On Justin’s birthday, rumors surfaced that Justin is actually a really rude person. Well, I personally couldn’t believe it. So I decided to do research. I came across this podcast where Justin was promoting his Never Say Never DVD . It seemed as if Justin’s remarks to the interviewer were very snappy and sharp. There was a point that the interviewer said, “I’ve never seen the movie” and Justin commented back was, “How are you going to do an interview with me about my movie and you’ve never seen it? It’s not even that expensive, you can catch a matinee it’s cheaper.” Immediately stopping the video there, I was very upset that the down to earth guy I saw in Never Say Never, wasn’t really down to earth.  Taking my anger to Twitter, I tweeted how I feel like I’ve been duped. Saying things like, “I’m done. I’m deleting my Twitter. I no longer Justin Bieber, but I LOVE his music, so I will support his MUSIC only.” Right before I went to delete my Twitter, I sent a tweet to Justin Bieber saying “@justinbieber wow. i guess you’re movie was a lie. you’re not that sweet down to earth person. you’re RUDE.” (I was on Twitter for iPhone, so I  couldn’t  deactivate right then) I was really hurt, and it wasn’t hard to tell by my tweets. Minutes later, my DM light came on. I don’t know, but I took a while to finally look at it because I kinda had a feeling it was Justin and there it was. A DM from Justin himself saying, “i was not rude…was joking around with them and they took it the wrong way. Their was a delay…i could barely hear them. IM NOT A BAD GUY!” Beliebers knew that he had DMd me because after hours of not following anyone, he followed me. It was 12:07am ON A SCHOOL NIGHT. I really needed to go to bed, but after that, I couldn’t. Anyways, being as stubborn as I am, I immediately tweeted how I got it wrong, but I’m not sorry for anything I said. My mentions were blowing up! A few minutes after Justin DMd me, he tweeted “having mixed feelings on my birthday”. That’s when I started to feel really bad. I know I wasn’t the only one tweeting Justin about being rude, but when I mentioned how Never Say Never was phony, it stuck a cord in him. I started to feel terrible. I just decided to go to bed. When I woke up the next day, I immediately checked my Twitter. The DM light was on again. I was scared to open it, but I did. Being the creeper Justin is, he had been creeping. And four hours later at 4:21am, Justin had creeped my tweets, and DMd me again. It said “u dont need to be sorry. just no im not bsing you. im not changing. i care and im not rude to my fans or others. i try and will always try”. Justin had stopped me from deleting my Twitter. I felt on top of the world. The person that I spent my days supporting, notice ME. Out of 9 million people! I felt important. I felt that Justin cares so much about his fans that he wouldn’t want to lose a single one!  I really respected him for that. There’s so many celebrities who say how they care about their fans. But the difference between Justin and them, is that he doesn’t only say that he cares about his fans, he shows it.  -@iBieberCheer Here is the original post: My name is Seante. My Bieber Experience was on November 11, 2010 (11/11 ironic…

My Bieber Experience was on November 11, 2010 (11/11   ironic huh?). Basically I’m know for being obsessed with Justin and my family knows it more than anyone so when we heard Justin was coming to town, I basically had to get tickets. It took my dad a couple months but in like October/September he came up with some and I was beyond excited. I also had two extra tickets to take my two friends. I was so excited, I had a countdown in my assignment planner and it was all I talked about! I started a membership on Bieberfever.com and entered to win meet & greets. It was 1 week before the concert and I was walking home with my friend. We were talking about the concert and how I had entered to meet him. We ended our conversation at my house. I walked inside and my whole family was sitting in the family room, which is a VERY rare occasion. I was like um hey what’s going on and my dad handed me a large envelope. I was like what is this and he just said to open it up. There was a printed out email inside and the first words I saw were DAVE REYNOLDS (shoutout to @davereynoldscba). I dropped to the ground and sobbed! I knew what it was. My dad told me to read it out loud and it happened that the radio guy my dad got tickets from happened to have extra meet and greets. Inside were the instructions for the meet and greet. I of course called my friends and we were all psyched! We kept it quiet for a while but on the day of the concert, word started getting out that we were leaving school earlier to go down to the Wolstein Center. We made our way to an overhang above Justin’s bus. We saw/talked to Kenny, Ry Good, and all of  Justin’s  crew but there was no sign of Justin! Pattie came out, the cutest most adorable mom ever, and said Justin was taking a nap and he would be out soon! We saw him a couple times and we waved and I almost fainted. Dave Reynolds posted a vid of us (to the left in the purple!)   Soon it was time to meet Justin! I was having a heart attack in the line watching him take pictures with people through the black curtain. It was our turn to go in and Justin and Dave had just finished taking a picture. The first thing I saw were his eyes and he lost me there. I faintly remember him saying hi and putting his arm around me. At one point the camera wasn’t working and he was just laughing with us. We took our picture and I was just like thank you! Bye! He told us to enjoy the concert and it was nice meeting us! I was starstruck the rest of the night, I was shaking and my friend Lia cried after we met him! It was so funny so I taped it!  T he concert was amazing, I laughed and cried, mostly sobbed! Ry Good gave me a hug in the middle of ‘Never let you go’ as I was sobbing! It’s been almost 10 months since MBE, and I know it wasn’t insanely cool or extravagant  but I will NEVER forget it! Honestly and wholeheartedly, NEVER SAY NEVER! Thanks JB -@maddi_cin Read more here: My Bieber Experience was on November 11, 2010 (11/11 ironic…
