Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp Premiere ‘The Tourist’ In New York City

‘I thought it was a challenge for me to be a girl, a real girly girl,’ Jolie said on the red carpet. By Jocelyn Vena Angelina Jolie at “The Tourist” premiere Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp warmed up the red carpet outside the Ziegfeld Theater in chilly New York City Monday night for the premiere of their sexy new flick, “The Tourist.” The duo was joined by co-star Paul Bettany, as well as Jolie’s hunky beau, Brad Pitt, and Bettany’s wife, actress Jennifer Connolly. “It was wonderful,” Jolie, dressed in a creamy Atelier Versace gown, gushed to reporters about working with Depp on the flick. “He’s as wonderful as you expect him to be. He feels like he’s of a different decade. He’s extraordinarily creative and extraordinarily kind. There’s no one else like him.” Jolie said that she was also drawn to the project by her character’s feminine wiles as well as the opportunity to work with Depp. “I liked that she was a real lady, a real European lady, and I’ve never played that before. I thought it was a challenge for me to be a girl, a real girly girl,” she said. “Living in Italy for a few months was pretty hard to resist. And I’ve been dying to work with [the director] Florian [Henckel von Donnersmarck] and I’ve always wanted to work with Johnny and never met him, so it was a great. Everything was great about this project.” The movie’s director was equally charmed by his leading actors and likened the premiere’s madness to the kind he experienced shooting the film abroad. “Well, now you can imagine what it was like every single day,” he laughed to MTV News. “And we had about 30,000 [people] standing behind the barricades whenever we tried to do an intimate scene, so it was quite adventurous.” He added that working with the two stars was pure joy. “It’s exciting,” he explained. “There’s a reason why we’re all so fascinated with these people. It’s because they are so fascinating and they’re fun, very creative people. … Actually, I think they’re not too far from what they are onscreen in this film. … Johnny is as funny and as cool as he is onscreen in real life. I’d say there’s very little difference. … He’s everybody’s idol. “And Angelina’s the same way,” he continued. “She’s just so elegant and feminine and just exciting … it was quite an experience working with them.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Tourist.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Drake’s ‘Fancy’ Is MTV News’ #7 Song Of 2010

The ode to getting ready for a night out, featuring Swizz Beatz and T.I., is on our Top 25 of the year. By Kyle Anderson Drake Photo: David Becker/WireImage All it takes to break into the hip-hop game is one hot guest appearance or a buzzworthy mixtape track. The difficult thing, however, is maintaining that sort of energy and interest. Drake proved that he was up to that task in 2010, and the fact that “Fancy” — which comes in at #7 on MTV News’ Top 25 Songs of the year — was not even a single and still managed to have the impact that it did is a testament to the 24-year-old Canadian’s skill and prowess. When he first became the man of the moment in hip-hop, it was uncertain whether or not Drake would manage to keep up the buzz after the surprise success of “Best I Ever Had.” But Thank Me Later turned out to be one of those rare hip-hop albums that appealed to just about everybody. If you like sharp lyricism, you like Drake. If you like smooth R&B sounds, you like Drake. If you like gritty production, you like Drake. If you like dancing in a club, you like Drake. He’s everything to everyone, and yet somehow still a unique talent as comfortable with crooning as he is with freestyling. Produced by Swizz Beatz and featuring guest vocals by Beatz and T.I., “Fancy” may just be the definitive Drake track. It takes a hypnotic, radio-friendly beat and crams in some killer couplets (“I’ve always liked my women book and street smart/ As long as they got a little class like half days,” and “Time heals all but heels hurt to walk in/ But they go with the clutch that you carry your lip gloss in,” for example), a catchy chorus (the line “Oh, you fancy, huh?” has become a catchphrase) and a little something for the ladies. “It’s like preparation rap,” explained MTV News hip-hop writer Jayson Rodriguez. “It’s like when the girls are in the mirror and getting ready, and this is the soundtrack to that moment.” The song is especially unique because it becomes almost a completely different song just before the three-minute mark. The beat slows down to a hazy crawl and Drake shifts into his disarmingly sweet baritone for some seductive crooning. By the end, all that’s left is the hum of the keyboards and Drake’s heartbreak. What begins as a triumphant club jam becomes something of a mournful dirge, and Drake manages to pull off both at the same time. “Fancy” had its big moment at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, where Drake channeled the Rat Pack and turned the stage at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles into the Copa Cabana for a few minutes. It zeroed in on Drake’s main export: Sharp, undeniable cool. “Fancy” happens to be the clearest expression of everything great about Drake. “[‘Fancy’] encapsulates the Drake swagger that girls love so much,” points out MTV News pop writer Jocelyn Vena. Swagger is something that a lot of rappers talk about, but few walk the walk as well as Drake. For a song called “Fancy,” the message is pretty simple: Drake is unblinkingly cool. Where would you place Drake’s “Fancy” among the top songs of 2010? Let us know in the comments! MTV News’ Top 25 Songs of 2010 countdown continues. Grammy Nominations Concert: Katy Perry And Justin Bieber Perform, Earn Nods

B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Train also hit the stage for the nominations special. By James Montgomery Katy Perry performs during the GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! in Los Angeles on Wednesday Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Even though the Grammy Awards are still more than two months away, Eminem should probably start getting his acceptance speech ready. Or, more specifically, acceptance speeches. Em landed three huge nominations during Wednesday night’s (December 1) Grammy Nominations Concert at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles — Record and Song of the Year for his massive hit “Love the Way You Lie” and an Album of the Year nod for the equally big Recovery — making him the early favorite to take home the hardware February 13, when the Grammys will be handed out. Another early favorite is Cee Lo, whose “F— You” scored noms for both Record and Song of the Year and — of course — country juggernauts Lady Antebellum, who matched Eminem with nominations for Record, Song and Album of the Year. Both Eminem and Lady Antebellum were expected by most to pick up nominations in the so-called “big four” categories, but that doesn’t mean the Grammy nominations special was without its fair share of surprises. Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream picked up a nod for Best Album, along with Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster and, in the night’s most unexpected twist, indie stalwarts the Arcade Fire and their disc The Suburbs. All of those categories figure to be close, but the Grammy for Best New Artist appears to be a race between two Canadian heartthrobs: Justin Bieber and Drake, who are the presumptive favorites in a field that also includes Florence and the Machine, Mumford & Sons and Esperanza Spalding. Bieber — who appeared live via satellite from London — couldn’t contain his excitement (or find the right words, for that matter) after learning he’d been nominated, telling the night’s host, LL Cool J, that “It feels amazing … I can’t believe I’m in this position! I don’t know what to say!” Of course, the nominations were just half of the show. In true Grammy tradition, the telecast also featured a host of high-profile performances. Perry kicked things off with a holiday-themed take on “California Gurls” (meaning she wore some ornaments in her hair) and was followed by Bruno Mars, who strummed his way through “Just the Way You Are,” backed by a trilling string section and a pianist. Train performed their massive “Hey, Soul Sister” — which, rather shockingly, was shut out of the Big Four — Bieber reappeared for an acoustic version of “My Favorite Girl,” and Mars teamed up with B.o.B to put a lilting spin on “Nothin’ on You,” which picked up a nomination for Record of the Year.
