Hov’s Roc Nation partners with luxury brand for exclusive pre-show event. By Kelly Marino Jay-Z at the Gucci and Roc Nation pre-Grammy brunch on Saturday Photo: Charley Gallay/Getty Images LOS ANGELES — With the 53rd annual Grammy Awards less than a day away, glossy industry parties have been underway as some of music’s biggest names take over Los Angeles. And there’s no better way to kick off the weekend than to sip on some mimosas and enjoy an early brunch with entertainment’s biggest entrepreneur alongside fashion’s leading luxury brand. Held at the Soho House in West Hollywood, Roc Nation founder Jay-Z along with Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini, joined forces Saturday afternoon (February 12) to host this year’s pre-Grammy brunch, celebrating the art of music and the special-edition collection of Gucci Grammy watches and jewelry items. “I was looking for a partner, a very strong one, the day before the Grammys,” Giannini explained of her decision to pair up with this year’s six-time Grammy nominee. “I think Jay-Z is the boss of this industry. He is a very iconic person, and I think he is the best. So as a designer, I always say I find an incredible inspiration coming from musicians who are in the music industry. Fashion and music, they have always been together because I think we are looking to musicians and musicians are looking to fashion.” Last November, Gucci Timepieces and Jewelry announced a three-year partnership with The Recording Academy inspired by the Grammy Awards. This new partnership is part of a celebration of Gucci’s 90 -year history of the brand’s commitment to the arts as well as to their most loyal clients — some of whom include artists and producers in the Roc Nation family. “You can’t put a real value on [fashion],” said hitmaker The-Dream, who is already a two-time Grammy winner. “It’s so infused in our culture…you know, big ups to Gucci for supporting Roc Nation and Roc-A-Fella and the whole movement, because we used to have to fight for these things. We used to [not be able to] get sponsors, and now it’s like almost automatic, you know, [that] it’s gonna appear. So I’m pretty impressed.” As were all the other A-list celebrities invited, which included Grammy nominees, performers and presenters such as Rihanna, Kings of Leon and Sean Garrett, as well as actors Ryan Phillippe, Adrien Brody and Ellen Pompeo. As the stars casually arrived to the three-hour event, they were treated to food, beverages and tunes provided by DJs Mark Ronson, Samantha Ronson, Solange and D-Nice. While some dodged the red carpet before entering the venue, others were happy to take a moment to have their pictures taken in their finest attire and speak out about the legacy of fashion and art. “As a celebrity, as an artist, fashion plays a very, very important part in your imaging and who you are as a person,” Ne-Yo explained. “Everyone wants to dress like the hottest celebrity, so for them to line up with Gucci, which is one of those brands which is very versatile, they can be street and they can be dinner-party. They have all of that in their brand. So I think it’s very important.” Don’t miss “Snooki & Sway: Live From the Grammys,” a red-carpet live stream kicking off Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on MTV.com. ‘He had a mild allergic reaction while they were wrapping up last night on the set of ‘CSI,’ ‘ Bieber’s rep tells E! By Kara Warner Justin Bieber on the set of “CSI” Photo: CBS Justin Bieber is really committing to his acting — so much so that it landed him in the hospital Wednesday. According to E! Online , the 16-year-old superstar developed breathing trouble while filming scenes for his upcoming appearance on “CSI.” But never fear, Beliebers: The Best New Artist Grammy nominee is just fine. His breathing trouble was apparently caused by an allergic reaction, for which Bieber received insta-treatment at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, on Wednesday evening. “He is fine,” Bieber’s rep told E! on Thursday (January 13). “He had a mild allergic reaction while they were wrapping up last night on the set of ‘CSI.’ His doctor met him at the hospital to make sure everything was OK. He was released within the hour after his doctor declared him fine. He is back on set working today. All is well.” Judging by Bieber’s tweets last night — in which he made no mention of a hospital visit and instead posed a series of random questions to fans — he wasn’t too bothered by his earlier troubles. “If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be?” he tweeted. Followed by: “Ok ok…if you could be the greatest athlete or the greatest entertainer which would u be? tough one.” Then: “And the toughest question of the night….fresh sheets or fresh socks??? #epicquestion.” On Thursday, he tweeted this confident missive about being back on “CSI”: “Ok last day on the set as a #badass. Gonna get deadly today.” Apparently all is indeed well with the Biebs. Phew. What are you expecting from Bieber’s return to “CSI”? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Justin Bieber

Madison Square Garden concert also featured Enrique Iglesias, B.o.B. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber performs at “Jingle Ball 2010” Photo: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images NEW YORK — At 7:30 p.m. on the nose, the house lights went down, the girls went crazy, and Jingle Ball 2010 got the party started Friday (December 10) for a rousing night of music and fun at Madison Square Garden. Kim Kardashian, in a white body-hugging dress, kicked off the night’s festivities by noting that it was her first time ever at MSG, then bringing Taio Cruz to the stage. He played “Break Your Heart” and “Dynamite,” and for his track “Higher,” he was joined by Travie McCoy, though the song usually features British pop princess Kylie Minogue. Jesse McCartney was on hand to proudly invite Bruno Mars to the stage. The Grammy nominee played drums for an excited crowd. He played “Billionaire,” and the entire room sang along as McCoy joined him for their ode to getting famous. The crowd ate it up. He then slowed it down with “Grenade.” The set ended with “Just the Way You Are” to the delight of the crowd. Jay Sean beat-boxed, then helped introduce Paramore to the stage. The band brought some loud, boombastic rock to the show thanks to a set that included “Brick by Boring Brick.” “Anybody else care to join the party tonight?” frontwoman Hayley Williams asked the crowd before blaring out “Misery” and inviting a fan onstage to sing with her. They finished it off with “The Only Exception.” B.o.B was next to the stage. The rapper got real with his track “Don’t Let Me Fall.” Then the crowd went insane for “Magic.” As if that didn’t get the girls hyped enough, Bruno Mars returned for “Beautiful Girls.” “Everybody put your hands up,” B.o.B told the crowd before playing his massive “Airplanes” with Williams by his side. The crowd went nuts when Flo Rida introduced Selena Gomez for her dance-tastic performance of “Round and Round.” Gomez looked like a true disco queen in her little black dress and heels. She thanked Katy Perry for her next track, “Rock God,” then got trancey for her song “A Year Without Rain,” and ended her set with “Naturally,” crediting it as the reason she got a spot on the radio tour. The show took an adult contemporary and old school turn when Michael Buble arrived to croon tunes such as “Hollywood” and “Haven’t Met You Yet,” and for “Let it Snow,” he got in the crowd and paid homage to the season, dusting MSG with snow confetti. Katy Perry brought the girl power in her performance, which featured ballerinas, Christmas trees, Santa Clauses and Perry popping out of a gift box in a latex toy soldier costume for “Hot n Cold.” “This is Madison Square Garden!” she shouted to the crowd. “This is something I’ve dreamt about for a long time.” “This next song is about falling in love with a foreigner, like far away … Not even in England,” she said to introduce “E.T.” After a jazzy version of “I Kissed a Girl,” she proudly proclaimed, “Let’s dedicate this West Coast anthem to the East Coast right now,” ending her performance with “California Gurls” as red and green confetti fell from the ceiling. Pauly D prompted the loudest screams of the night when he introduced Enrique Iglesias. The Latin pop star played the clean version of “Tonight,” followed by older jams such as “Escape” and “Hero,” serenading a girl from the audience. With the swooning complete, Iglesias ended with fan favorite “I Like It.” Kardashian returned, telling the crowd, “I think I’m catching a fever,” before the night’s most-anticipated performance: Justin Bieber. In a plaid top and khakis, the teen star got his party started with “Somebody to Love.” Bieber was in full swagga mode, dancing like a seasoned pro and getting the crowd hyped. “The last time I was here for Jingle Ball, I had a broken foot, and this year, I’m here and both my limbs are working,” he joked. “We shot a movie here, and it’s coming out in February, and I think we should show you a preview.” The trailer transitioned to “Never Say Never.” Bieber even brought out a surprise guest, Jayden Smith, to join him. “I had someone who’s really special to me, and I decided to bring him out,” he then announced, calling for Sean Kingston for “Eenie Meenie.” The girls went crazy as the pals went back and forth on the cut. “I think I want to slow it down a little bit. My acoustic album had an extra song on it that’s really important to me. But first, I need everyone to close their eyes and ‘Pray,’ ” he said before the inspirational ballad. He then teased the excited crowd, saying, “I think we should do one more song,” and listing some of his track names. He settled on “Baby.” “Who wants to be my baby?” he asked. He ended the night with showers of fireworks and confetti, saying, “You guys are amazing.” Did you go to Jingle Ball 2010? Give us your review in the comments below! Seven-time Grammy nominee joins short list of producer/songwriters like Kanye West, Ne-Yo and Keri Hilson to see solo success. By Gil Kaufman Bruno Mars Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images In music, the producer and/or songwriter is usually some anonymous professional who toils away in the studio at all hours crafting the music and words that go into the mouth of the flashy star who then goes on to pick up all of the hardware at the annual awards show. But sometimes that off-the-radar studio rat has so much material that he/she gets in the studio and earns some shine time of their own. Case in point: Bruno Mars . On Wednesday, the 25-year-old Hawaiian native became a Grammy Awards darling when he racked up seven nominations for his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, as well as his work on songs by other artists, including his production and songwriting on Cee-Lo’s “F— You.”

The following is NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center (MRC) founder Brent Bozell’s statement regarding news of James O’Keefe’s sting operation attempt to embarrass CNN. The MRC unequivocally denounces James O’Keefe for his attempted assault on CNN. It isn’t just childish and immature; it’s ugly, dishonest and filthy. There is no place in the conservative movement for this type of behavior and that’s exactly what I warned about in a commentary piece I submitted to CNN.com just two days ago. “Could the Citizen Journalist abuse the public trust?” I wrote in this piece that should run in the next few days. “Hypothetically, of course. Conservatives must all guard against this. Let there be scrutiny, by all means.” And I repeat: there must be scrutiny. Bottom line: We want nothing to do with O’Keefe or his dirty antics.
