Gym Class Heroes Call ‘Ass Back Home’ Video ‘Gritty’

Travie McCoy says the clip, featuring Neon Hitch, shows the ‘struggle’ of a long-distance relationship. By Christina Garibaldi Travie McCoy in the Gym Class Heroes’ “Ass Back Home” video Photo: Fueled By Ramen Life on the road can be tough for a musician — just ask Gym Class Heroes . On Monday, the group premiered their video for “Ass Back Home,” the third single from their latest album, The Paper Chronicles II. The clip was shot while the group was on tour and shows frontman Travie McCoy struggling with a long-distance relationship while spending his life on the road. MTV News recently caught up with Gym Class Heroes at Z100’s annual Jingle Ball concert , and they told us how they came up with the concept for their latest video. “It’s us on the road and it’s shot really gritty,” McCoy said. “So it kind of gives people a behind-the-scenes at what it’s like to be on the road, traveling nonstop and also that tension, that struggle of trying to keep a relationship afloat.” Bassist Eric Roberts added:” I remember when I was watching some cuts of the video, I totally just lost thought of the song, and I was just paying attention. I was like, ‘Oh, it’s kind of like a movie.’ ” Playing McCoy’s love interest in the video is British newcomer Neon Hitch, who also sings the chorus. The electro-pop singer, who describes herself as a “free spirit,” was the perfect choice not only for the song, but for the video as well. “They just thought I would fit the song perfectly,” Hitch told MTV News. “So it just happened magically.” It seems like Gym Class Heroes couldn’t agree more. “The song was actually produced by Benny Blanco, and Benny’s worked with Neon in the past,” McCoy said. “I think if anybody gets the song and as far as the message of the song and what the song’s about, it’d be her, because she’s kind of in the midst of all this. Not only did she go above and beyond the call of duty as far as singing it, but it’s something that she can totally relate to, so it’s perfect.” Last month, Gym Class Heroes were forced to cancel the remaining dates of their North American tour due to illness, but fear not, GCH fans: They are planning to get back on the road in the new year. “We wrapped this year up with all the Christmas shows and top of the year, next year, we head overseas,” McCoy said. “And then we come back here to destroy the U.S.” What do you think of Gym Class Heroes’ latest video? Coldplay Announce 2012 North American Tour

Band will kick off Mylo Xyloto tour on April 17. By Gil Kaufman Chris Martin Photo: John Shearer/ Getty Images They’ve teased us all year with spot festival dates, but beginning April 17 Coldplay will launch their first proper North American tour in three years when they hit the stage in Edmonton, Alberta to promote their latest, Mylo Xyloto . With three Grammy nominations under their belt — two for “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” and one for “Paradise” — the band will be on the road from April through August in the U.S. and Canada, currently slated to wrap things up at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 11. Before they pack up their road cases, they will drop the third single from the album, “Charlie Brown,” which goes to radio later this month. They will also appear on the first-ever 90-minute episode of the world’s longest-running live music TV series, “Austin City Limits” .
They’ll ring in the new year on the program, which will air on PBS station nationwide on December 31 beginning at 11 p.m. “Coldplay New Year’s Eve: An Austin City Limits Special” can also be viewed on demand on www.pbs.org starting at 11 p.m. ET that evening. If you didn’t get a chance to catch any of Coldplay’s festival appearances earlier this year, singer Chris Martin promises that the new Xyloto songs will fit in with their soaring catalog, but might also feel a bit … different. “It’s definitely a schizophrenic album … it keeps changing sounds,” he told MTV News. “That’s why we called it such a strange thing, Mylo Xyloto . Because we felt like so many people have already made up their minds about us, both good and bad, that we can sort of start again from scratch and try and reflect all the music we listen to and we love.” And while you may not see album guest Rihanna hop up on stage with the band during the outing to sing “Princess of China”
, there’s a shot you might see them do their take on her current hit, “We Found Love,” which they covered on BBC Radio 1

Get into the Habit with Infernal Nuns’ Emmanuelle Collinet [VIDEO]

Grindhouse ‘s fake exploitation trailers have spawned more than their share of imitators, but as long as they remain as eye-poppingly topless as Infernal Nuns star Emmanuelle Collinet , then we’re not complaining! This Teutonic beauty has appeared on German TV and in several short films, but is just now making waves overseas with this fake exploitation trailer, a film school final project which has played at festivals across Europe and North America. Emmanuelle makes her nude debut as Sister Marie Claire , whose mission of divine vengeance begins when an evil plague doctor tricks the innocent nun into offering the ailing Pope the holiest of waters….her breast milk! We’re pretty sure her suckle stalks will cure what ails you, too. We’re praying this one goes the way of Machete (2010) and Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) and gets a full-length rendition soon. We’d certainly like to get another glimpse into Emmanuelle’s Holy See… Fast forward to 00:38 for the good part. Nice chalices, sister! Want more skinful sisters? ‘Breaking Dawn’ Passes $500 Million Mark Worldwide

Movie hits half-billion mark in less than two weeks. By Gil Kaufman Photo: Summit “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1”
looks to dominate the box office for a good long time. After two weeks atop
the list of top-grossing movies, the penultimate film in the vampires and werewolves epic has already raked in more than $508 million worldwide. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the movie is the ninth film this year to push past the half-billion mark globally, hitting the mark in just 12 days of release. So far, the movie has grossed $223.4 million in North America and $285 million internationally, for a grand total of $508.4 million. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the success of this film and a franchise that the fans have continued to support over the past several years,” said Summit Entertainment co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger in a statement. “Thank you to all involved with the films from the actors, filmmakers and Stephenie Meyer to the most important group of all, the global fan base that continues to drive a desire for more Edward, Jacob and Bella.” MTV News asked experts how long this domination can go on, especially since the only competition this weekend is the NC-17-rated full-frontal indie flick “Shame.” “It’ll be close between [‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’] and ‘The Muppets,’ because [‘The Muppets’] has much better word of mouth,” said Boxoffice.com’s Phil Contrino, noting that it was too soon to say which would come out on top. He also predicted that the movie should finish its domestic run in the $300 million range and stay near the top until such holiday blockbusters as “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and “Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol” on December 21. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on November 16, 2012. Jenelle Evans Cops to Positive Drug Test at Hearing

Teen Mom 2 wreck Jenelle Evans appeared in a North Carolina courtroom this morning and admitted that she tested positive in a drug test in July. The 21-year-old, who has been in and out of trouble with the law, told a judge that she did indeed fail the drug test, as reported, back on July 15. She has been tested every week since then, however, and hasn’t had another positive test … which is actually a fairly impressive feat for Jenelle. “Jenelle is doing really well,” her lawyer Dustin Sullivan said after today’s hearing . “She completed her parenting class and her anger management class.” She does not have custody of her young son Jace back yet, but when she’s not beating the crap out of other girls , she spends time with the tyke daily. After a wildly successful stint in a California rehab center, Jenelle tested positive for THC (found in marijuana) and she will remain on probation until April. Her trials and tribulations can be seen on MTV starting next Tuesday when the show that made her a star returns. Watch the Teen Mom Season 2 trailer !

Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce U.S. Tour

Band’s first Stateside shows in four years kick off in January. By James Montgomery Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers Photo: Getty Images The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced their first run of U.S. shows in more than four years, in support of 2011’s (don’t-call-it-a-comeback) disc I’m With You. Currently in between runs of shows in the U.K. and Europe, the Peppers will return to the States for a trek that kicks off January 25 in Charlotte, North Carolina. So far, just six U.S. dates have been revealed, but according to a spokesperson for the band, more shows will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Tickets for the first six shows go on sale December 3. For more information, check out the band’s official site . The 2012 arena tour will mark RHCP’s first full-scale tour of the U.S. since 2007, when they wrapped their massive Stadium Arcadium jaunt — and subsequently went on hiatus — and their first with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer as a full-fledged member of the band. (He served as a backing musician on the Arcadium tour.) The Chili Peppers recently unveiled the Raymond Pettibon-influenced video for “Monarchy of Roses,” the second single off I’m With You, which was released in August and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 229,000 copies. When MTV News spoke to the band on the eve of the album’s release, they told us that, more than anything, they couldn’t wait to take their new songs out on the road, especially since their handful of warm-up dates — including a headlining slot at Japan’s Summer Sonic fest — had gone swimmingly. “It’s very dynamic, so we really have to focus on letting each song exist unto itself with all its beauty. There’s a lot going on,” frontman Anthony Kiedis said. “We felt pretty good about everything that we had done in terms of writing and recording, but no one really knew [how the warm-up shows would turn out] and it was just as good as one could have ever dreamt of … It was like being 21 years old and not being able to sleep the night before a show.” The first dates for the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ I’m With You tour are as follows:

Red Dawn Remake Finally Sets Release Date

That poor Red Dawn remake just has not been able to catch a break, what with the MGM bankruptcy that stalled its initial release, the hubbub over digitally changing its baddies from Chinese to North Koreans, and the uncertainty in the air as it sat, waiting, for a new slot on the release calendar. But! It’s finally set to see the light of day November 2, 2012 — nearly three years after it was filmed — giving stars Josh Hutcherson , Chris Hemsworth , Isabel Lucas , and Adrienne Palicki more time to get even famous-er. Foo Fighters Opener Joy Formidable Talk ‘Surreal’ Tour

‘We’re loving every single minute of it,’ Welsh rockers tell MTV News of playing large venues. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker The Joy Formidable Photo: Getty Images Shortly before Welsh rock band the Joy Formidable took the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden to open for the Foo Fighters earlier this month, they sat down with MTV News to discuss what a great experience the tour has been for them. “It’s such a delight being on tour with the Foos and Social Distortion,” lead singer Ritzy Bryan said, giving a shout-out to the tour’s other opening act. “The Foos heard a track of ours on the radio and really liked it,” she explained of how they came to be on the tour. “It just happened really naturally, you know, picking up on a band, supporting new music. [They] invited us on tour on the back of that. “It’s very surreal,” she added. “We’ve been playing some really big venues.” Though the band is accustomed to playing larger venues back in the U.K., all three members, including bassist Rhydian Dafydd and drummer Matt Thomas, agree that playing Madison Square Garden really means something special. “When you talk to people about Madison Square Garden back on home soil, it’s like, ‘Wow, what an iconic venue,’ ” Dafydd weighed in with a big smile. The already chipper musicians all lit up even more when we asked them what’s next for them. “We’re very, very busy now writing our next record,” Bryan said. “[We’re] just losing ourselves in that at the moment. We’re very, very happy to be here and loving every single minute of it.” The Joy Formidable are currently headlining their own leg of a North American tour. Visit their website for dates. Kelly Clarkson Announces Stronger Tour Dates

Singer will hit the road with opener Matt Nathanson in January. By Gil Kaufman Kelly Clarkson Photo: MTV News Kelly Clarkson won’t have much time to nurse her New Year’s Eve hangover, as she’s slated to hit the road in early January for the first North American leg of her world tour in support of Stronger. The trek will kick off on January 13 with a show in Mashantucket, Connecticut, and is currently slated to run through an April 10 date at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. Clarkson — whose fifth album recently landed a #2 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart — will be joined by singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson on the outing. Though she came in behind Coldplay during her first week in stores, Clarkson was more than happy to square off against the British group for chart supremacy. “My album came out this week, Coldplay came out at the same time, and people were like, ‘Oh my God, are you kidding? Coldplay is going to kill you!’ I don’t care if they kill me,” Clarkson told MTV News of the rock band, whose Mylo Xyloto topped the charts with 447,000 copies sold. “It’s more like, how many people are going to buy their album, and then my album is right there, ’cause it’s out too,” she said. “I always think competition is healthy.” She’s not sweating it, since Clarkson has already said that she feels Stronger is her best album to date. She’s now getting ready to drop the second single off the LP, “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger).” “I think we might be going with ‘Stronger,’ the title track,” Clarkson said. “It’s just a great song, so I think we might go with that one.” As a bonus, Clarkson also expects that the song will be a blast to play in concert. ” ‘What Doesn’t Kill You,’ I can’t wait to perform that live,” said the singer. “We’ve already rehearsed it, and it’s so much fun. It’s like this big dance anthem.” Tickets for the tour will go on sale November 18. Dates for Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger tour:
