BREAKING NEWS: Heavy D Confirmed Dead At Age 44

Heavy D reportedly passed away this afternoon at a Los Angeles hospital. Via TMZ : We’ve learned a 911 call was placed from Heavy’s Beverly Hills home around 11:25 AM to report an unconscious male on the walkway . When help arrived, we’re told Heavy D was conscious and speaking — and was transported to a nearby hospital. He died a short time later. Cops are investigating the death — and so far, there are no obvious signs of foul play. Heavy D had several massive hits — including “Now That We Found Love.” He also wrote and performed the theme song for “In Living Color” … and appeared as an actor in the movie “Life.” Heavy just performed at the BET Awards in October — and appeared to be fine Update: The International Business Times just released comments from the L.A. coroner, but they still provide very little information about the cause of death: A spokesman for the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office spoke to the International Business Times Tuesday evening about Heavy D’s cause of death saying, “All we know is he was taken from a location in Beverly Hills on the 400 block of North Maple Drive to the emergency room at Cedar Sinai Medical Center and declared [dead] there,” Spokesman Craig Harvey said. He said the L.A. Coroner’s Office is looking into the cause of death, and that an investigation is under way. “It’s in its infancy stage right now. We don’t have a lot of other information,” Harvey said. “Our guess is that the examination could occur as early as tomorrow, and any final cause of death would be deferred pending a toxicology test.” This one is hard one for any 80s/90s Hip-Hop kid. Jay-Z, Kanye West Throne Show At MSG ‘Unreal’

‘There’s no other experience,’ one fan tells MTV News of the Throne’s first stop in Jay’s hometown New York City. By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Kanye West and Jay-Z in “Watch The Throne” tour (file) Photo: The Washington Post/Getty Images Jay-Z and Kanye West brought their much-heralded Watch the Throne Tour to New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Monday night after two shows at New Jersey’s IZOD Center over the weekend. After kicking off the eagerly anticipated jaunt last week in Atlanta, the Throne began their trek north, stopping in North Carolina, and now they’ll stay put for one additional show at the Garden on Tuesday night (November 8). MTV News headed to the show on Monday, where the allure of seeing Jay and Kanye run through their catalog of hits at the World’s Most Famous Arena wasn’t lost on fans who filed into the newly renovated stadium for a 9:30 p.m. start time. Sticking to the script of their previous shows, the duo opened up with the WTT bonus track “H.A.M,” but “Welcome to the Jungle” hit a soft spot when Jay-Z spit his line, “Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5.” The reference was especially touching just hours after the guilty verdict in the Michael Jackson manslaughter case was finally passed down. As expected, Jay and ‘Ye performed their #1 single “Ni–as in Paris” multiple times during the show’s final minutes, adding in a mix of Jay-Z’s early hits like “Lucifer” and “Money Ain’t a Thing,” along with Kanye’s “Get Em High” and “All Falls Down.” And post-show, fans who spoke to MTV News were still brimming with excitement. “This is where it all started,” said one excited fan, referring to Jay-Z’s first hometown stop on the tour. “This is where he’s gonna start, this is where he’s gonna finish, so this is the best feeling ever. If you’re a Jay-Z fan — or anybody’s fan for that matter — you’ve gotta see them in the Garden. There’s no other experience.” “It was unreal to watch them together, feeding off each other’s chemistry,” another fan added, after watching Jay and ‘Ye throw it down. “Watching them own the stage like they did — it was ridiculous.” The Throne will perform one additional show at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night before they head to Florida. Adele To Return With Live Album, DVD In November

Release of Live at the Royal Albert Hall comes on the heels of singer cancelling a slew of shows due to vocal issues. By James Montgomery Adele Photo: Stefan M. Prager/Redferns Vocal problems may have forced Adele to scrap her U.S. tour , but next month, she’ll return to the States … with a live CD and DVD. Due out November 29, Live at the Royal Albert Hall was recorded during Adele’s rousing September show at the iconic London venue, and features her full 90-minute performance, which includes her biggest hits from the 19 and 21 albums, plus covers of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the Steeldrivers’ “If It Hadn’t Been for Love.” The film, directed by Paul Dugdale (who has previously worked with the Prodigy, Florence and the Machine and, of course, Adele herself), also contains exclusive behind-the-scenes content shot throughout the day. The CD/DVD package is currently available for pre-order through Adele’s website , and fans might want to pick it up, as it’s probably the last time they’ll get to see the British belter for a while. She’s been battling vocal issues for months, first postponing her North American tour in June due to laryngitis, then rescheduling dates before announcing in early October that a vocal hemorrhage would force her off the road entirely. Of course, none of that has slowed the success of her massive 21, which will once again top the Billboard albums chart next week and has sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S. alone since February. She’s also one of the most-nominated artists at next month’s American Music Awards (no word on whether she’ll attend, though), and her latest single, “Someone Like You,” currently sits atop the Billboard Hot 100. Steven Tyler Injured In Hotel Fall

Aerosmith singer’s accident causes postponement of band’s South American show. By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler Photo: Getty Images Whenever Steven Tyler falls down, chances are Aerosmith is going to get some time off. The latest tumble by the 63-year-old rock and roll icon and “American Idol” judge took place on Tuesday in Paraguay, when Tyler reportedly slipped and fell in his hotel bathroom, ending him to a local emergency room. According to a Reuters report, Tyler spent four hours at La Costa medical center in Paraguay’s capital and received emergency dental work and stitches to repair cuts to his face and the loss of two teeth. The incident forced Aerosmith to cancel Tuesday night’s show in Asuncion, Paraguay, which was part of their current Latin American tour. The outing kicked off on Saturday in Lima, Peru, and is slated to hit La Plata, Argentina, on Friday and swing through Brazil, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador and Mexico before heading to Japan in late November. “Mr. Tyler had a small accident that prevents him from staging the concert tonight,” said Marcelo Antunez, a spokesperson for the show’s promoter. “He is fine, he’s in his hotel but he’s not able to do the concert.” The concert has been rescheduled for Wednesday (October 26) night. Another spokesperson for the promoter, Nicolas Garzia, tweeted that Tyler had been dehydrated and was suffering gastrointestinal problems before the tumble. The last time Tyler fell was in August 2009, when he slipped off a stage in South Dakota and was airlifted to a hospital, which forced the postponement of the group’s North American tour. The inter-group tension that followed almost resulted in the Rock Hall of Famers breaking up as the band briefly weighed searching for a new singer . Related Artists Aerosmith

Moammar Gadhafi: Dead!

Notorious Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, the most wanted man in the entire world, has been killed, the country’s rebel government and ABC News claim. The tyrant who terrorized the North African nation and much of the world during his 42 years of rule was cornered by insurgents in the town of Sirte, Libya. Moammar Gadhafi was born and maintained a stronghold of his supporters there, but word that he is dead sparked celebrations in most of the country. The White House and NATO have yet to confirm reports of Gadhafi’s death . The National Transition Council said Moammar Gadhafi is dead following a battle in Sirte, which finally fell to the rebels today after weeks of tough fighting. Gadhafi, 69, had been on the run for several weeks after being chased out of the capital Tripoli, the capital of Libya, by NATO bombers and rebel troops. He had been believed to be hiding in the vast Libyan desert while calling on his supporters to rise up and sweep the rebel “dogs” away, but to no avail. NATO said its fighters struck a convoy of Gadhafi’s loyalists fleeing Sirte, but could not confirm Gadhafi was in the convoy, the Associated Press reported. Still, many accounts claim that one of the world’s most notorious tyrants – if not the most, after Osama bin Laden was killed – has been knocked off. More details to follow as the story develops … UPDATE : We now have photo and video to confirm the story. Be forewarned that both the image and footage of the dictator’s death are graphic.

Christopher Columbus Did Not Discover America

Excerpt from:

Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492 and we celebrate him each year on Columbus Day. At least that is what all elementary school children were always taught: “In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue.”Here is the problem, it’s not really accurate. Myth: Death Penalty Does Not Deter Crime Columbus never did “discover” North America, and the regions he did explore were already inhabited. He only discovered them from the viewpoint of the Europeans. Yet his first voyage did prove one thing for sure, that the earth was not only round, but that it was bigger than he had thought. One of the first known celebrations marking the discovery of the “New World” by Christopher Columbus was in 1792, when a ceremony organized by the Colombian Order was held in New York City honoring Christopher Columbus and the 300th anniversary of his landing in the Bahamas. Then, on October 12, 1866 the Italian population of New York organized the first celebration of the discovery of America. Three years later, in 1869 Italians in San Francisco celebrated October 12 calling it C-Day. To mark the 400th anniversary of Columbus’ voyage, in 1892, President Benjamin Harrison made a commemorative proclamation. But it was Colorado, in 1905, that became the first state to observe a Columbus Day. Since 1920 the day has been celebrated annually, and in 1937 President Franklin Roosevelt proclaimed every October 12 as Columbus Day. That’s where it remained until 1971 when Congress declared it a federal public holiday on the second Monday in October. What Is Halloween? Columbus and 90 crewmen boarded the three ships that were to make the first voyage to the New World, the Niña , Pinta , and the flagship, Santa Maria . On October 12, 1492, Columbus first saw the islands of the new world, landing in the Bahamas. Later in the month, he would sail to Cuba, and to Hispaniola (now Haiti). He thought he had reached the East Indies, the islands off Southeast Asia. On Christmas Day, 1492, the Santa Maria sank off Hispaniola. Columbus departed for Spain on January 16, 1493 on the Niña , arriving there on March 4. Columbus made three additional voyages to the New World. The second voyage set sail in September, 1493, with 17 ships. During his expeditions, he helped to colonize Hispaniola, and discovered the South American mainland. He did not , however, see mainland North America during any of his voyages. Watch the video below for an understanding of Christopher Columbus:
