Brian Stukes/Getty Images Dutchess Says She Was Suicidal After Leaving “Black Ink” Dutchess Lattimore is speaking candidly on what really went down after she left her VH1 reality show. The former “Black Ink” star turned full-time entrepreneur recently visited Sister Circle TV and told hosts Rashan Ali and Miss Quad that she overcame a bout with depression. According to Dutchess, she was suicidal after leaving Black Ink and was harassed by cast mates who’d call her tattoo shop and taunt her mother. Not only that, she was publicly humiliated when the new season aired and she was once again the topic of discussion. “When I first walked away from the show I wanted to kill myself,” said Dutchess. “I went through a serious depression. I went through getting harassment from cast members, death threats… they would call my shop and tell my mother the most heinous things that they were going to do to me if I came back to New York. It got to a point where I didn’t think I would ever escape it. This is 2 1/2 years ago and the new season of the show starts nd I’m the topic of discussion every episode and I’m not even there.” Not only that, Dutchess said she felt like an outlier on the program because of several factors including her background and education. “The show wasn’t in line and in tune and conducive to the woman that I want to be. I had to learn that the hard way. First of I’m from North Carolina, I’m the only person that’s not from New York that was on the show. Then I’m a black woman in a male-dominated industry being a tattoo artist, then I went to an HBCU graduate so I’m the only college educated one on the show, I’m the only one that came from a two-parent household.” Luckily Dutchess has overcome her depression and she’s flourishing in Charlotte, North Carolina. The tattoo shop owner is also a radio host on 92.7 FM. Watch the full interview below.

Courtland Rogers has had quite a tumultuous year. Just 12 months ago, it looked as though things were finally looking up for Jenelle Evans’ troubled ex. Courtland was released from prison , and he stated on social media that for the first time in his adult life, he was clean, sober and determined to turn his life around. Sadly, Courtland’s period of self-improvement turned out to be short-lived. In February, Rogers was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute. He spent a little time behind bars, but at some point, he was released on bail awaiting trial. However, Courtland was apparently unable to keep his nose clean yet again. According to Starcasm, Rogers is currently being held in North Carolina’s Brunswick County Detention Center on charges of parole violation and being a habitual felon. The jail’s site says there was “no bond” in his case, so it’s safe to assume Courtland is still locked up. “The probation board has up to 10 days to have a hearing with Rogers for the violation,” says a BCDC spokesperson. “He will be released depending on what the probation board rules.” So it sounds as though Courtland won’t be held until his trial. However, it also seems unlikely that he’ll get out of this mess without serving some hard time. Starcasm was able to speak with Courtland’s pregnant wife, Lindsey Rogers. She says there’s not much she can reveal about the specifics of her husband’s case, but she’s confident that everything will work out in her family’s favor. “I don’t want to say too much as of now,” Lindsay tells the site. “The whole situation is a misunderstanding and a lot more to the story than what people read online “In the end, the truth will come out. We have hope that he will be home before our son is due. I love my husband and I know the facts and God is in control.” Here’s hoping Court is able to turn things around for the sake of his wife and child. Image via Astrid Stawiarz/Robin L Marshall/Getty Compton Mayor Aja Brown To Run Against Stacey Dash For Congress Last week we reported that bum azz Stacey Dash will be running for California Congress in the 44th district. However, she will not run unopposed, in fact, the clueless soup cookie sympathizer will have to defeat one of the most popular politicians in the state. According to TMZ , Compton’s mayor Aja Brown has decided to throw her name in the hat in order to keep Stacey from destroying some of the most beloved areas in SoCal like Compton, Watts, North Long Beach and San Pedro. Brown is the polar opposite of Dash in every way imaginable. She’s a Black woman, she embraces hip-hop culture (gave Kendrick Lamar key to the city) and she has real ties to the community as her mother was raised in Compton. It is reported that Brown had no interest in Congress until Stacey announced her plan to run. Subsequently, a flood of phone calls came into her office urging her to oppose Dame Dash’s cousin. A private source says that Aja believes that Stacey is “running for notoriety”. Stacey is in big trouble. Continue reading →
Shae Harmony Wins “Fresh Cuts Showcase” If you’ve been keeping up, you already know that Snow Hill, NC native Shae Harmony is the winner of our latest Fresh Cuts showcase. Her journey to becoming the champion wasn’t easy, she actually is a return contestant who claimed the crown this year after coming close in last year’s competition but falling just short of the crown. “I almost didn’t want to try again,” Shae Harmony tells BOSSIP of her decision to re-enter the contest. “But the feedback the judges gave last year was very helpful. That down-to-earth critique gave me something concrete to focus on and I knew I had grown in the time from the last one so I decided to give it another go.” Courtesy Shae Harmony Shae, who works full time as a third-grade teacher in Atlanta’s public school system says she’s glad she came back, because she had a real connection with the other contestants, especially Triumph who hails from her same city in North Carolina. “Triumph’s dad David Payton was an accomplished playwright,” Shae recalled. “I actually sang Beyonce’s “Listen” in his play “You Betta Put That Woman First” when I was in high school so it was really good to reconnect with her.” Another bonus to the competition was the African Pride sponsored makeover — something that helped her feel at ease on stage. “I loved the makeover, everything about the wardrobe was so ‘Shae’,” the singer tells BOSSIP. Shae admits her biggest battle has always been nerves. The southern beauty says she’s always been one to sing around the house, but her shyness held her back from fully shining when she was young. Shae Harmony “I guess I was probably 8 or so when I did my first performance for church,” Shae recalls. “I was so shy, but after that the y MADE me join the choir.” “My family really pushed me to use my gift growing up and constantly reminded me that my God-given talent shouldn’t be wasted.” She may have gotten her start in the church, but both her look and sound has been amplified with a confidence and sex appeal she wasn’t afraid to show. Nerves may have gotten the best of her in last year’s competition but there was no stopping her this time around! “I just really worked on being comfortable,” Shae said, revealing that the battle round was another tough challenge. “Songwriting is something you either have or you don’t. I just tried to think about what black love, which was my theme, meant to me. I definitely did my best but that was one of the things I wasn’t sure about because the competition was really strong as well.” With the competition behind her, Shae’s got her sights set on even bigger challenges. Her first single “Be Careful” is currently on iTunes and she’s planning to shoot a video in March that will also be released this month. Shae also says she’s at work on her first EP which she hopes to release this spring.
