Game of Thrones: Officially Most-Watched HBO Show EVER!!!

All hail, Game of Thrones , King of the Andals, first of its name and all-time ratings champion! Yes, the numbers for season 4, episode 8 of Game of Thrones are in, and the wildly popular series has officially surpassed The Sopranos as the most-watched series in HBO’s history. Game of Thrones Characters In Real Life 1. Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen Clarke plays Daenerys Targaryen on the hit series Game of Thrones. The show’s fourth season debuts April sixth. No small feat for a show based on a series of door-stop books written in a genre that was previously associated with anti-social nerds and aging cosplay enthusiasts. For its peak episode in 2002 The Sopranos drew in an audience of 18.2 million viewers. GoT beat that number for the first time last week with 18.4 million tuning in. Prior to the acclaimed mob series that launched in 1999, no premium cable program had ever amassed an audience  close to that size. To put things in perspective, the much-ballyhooed Breaking Bad finale of last year drew a meager-by-comparison 10.4 million viewers and that aired on a network that doesn’t require a paid subscription. It’s a well-deserved honor for a show in the midst of what many critics consider its finest season to date. Of course, last week’s increase in viewership may have had something to do with episode eight’s much-anticipated  Oberyn Martell vs. Gregor Clegane battle , but considering the writers left us with a cliffhanger, much of the record-breaking audience may hold on to see if the powers that be will carry out the execution of Tyrion Lannister on this week’s GoT. It’s a possibility that’s already inspired some epic memes:  Whatever happens, the remaining two episodes of season 4 are sure to pack plenty surprises and continue to enjoy unprecedented popularity.  If you’ve shamefully fallen behind in your viewing , you can always watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic, and for your daily dose of horrific carnage be sure to check out our gallery of GoT’s most shocking deaths below: 9 Shocking Game of Thrones Deaths 1. For Discussion: Group Of Black Pastors Say Sentencing More Black Criminals To Death Will Stop Violence In The Community

Black Pastors:Sentence More Black Criminals To Death A group of African-America Florida community leaders made up of mostly pastors from the Jacksonville area say increasing the number of black criminals sentenced to death is the only way to stop black-on-black crime. via First Coast News There’s a problem in the black community and community leaders say they have had enough. They want to see an end to black-on-black crime and they are calling for harsher penalties. A number of Jacksonville’s black clergy say if the death penalty is used more often, when it applies, it will send a clear message. ”The message is black life does matter,” said Pastor Ken Adkins. Adkins is an ex-offender and father of 14 and has had it with what he calls the rising number of black-on-black crimes. “When you don’t value life,” he said, “I personally don’t believe you have the right to live.” Bishop Terrence Calloway said he has eulogized several young men under 40 and the genocide has to stop. “I don’t only speak as a pastor,” said Calloway, “I speak as a citizen, I speak as a father.” Even if their position seems to go against the teaching of forgiveness, their position is full of mercy. “The death penalty is warranted for those who have no regard for human life,” said Calloway. Pastor Adkins said during the 500 days between the death of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of George Zimmermann, there were 11,000 incidents of black-on-black crimes nationwide.  The pastors said the numbers are unacceptable. The pastors hope their tough stand will lead to a change in how the black community views black-on-black crimes. Do you agree that more death penalties for black criminals will help alleviate the violence in the black community? Let’s discuss. Continue reading

Jenny McCarthy: Not Getting Booted from The View

Jenny McCarthy is not going anywhere, ABC viewers. Following just over a month as co-host on The View , this bubbly blonde’s job status was called in to question this week when Radar Online quoted an anonymous production source who claimed producers were unhappy with McCarthy. Jenny McCarthy on The View “ABC has begun doing deep research on Jenny’s work on the show and the initial findings are that viewers want to tune out the second she opens her mouth!” the report alleged. “The data has revealed that she is far more off-putting Elisabeth.” But while it is true some critics have questioned giving McCarthy such a platform due to her anti-vaccination beliefs (the words ” homicidal maniac ” have been used to describe her), it is NOT true that she’s on the outs. HOWEVER, the numbers don’t back up the claim that The View is suffering in McCarthy’s presence. It is averaging just over three million viewers per episode this season, which is a tick below its previous season numbers. E! News reports no evidence to back up the assertion that Jenny is in trouble. Have you been watching? What do you think of Jenny McCarthy on The View?   Love her! She’s alright Hate her! View Poll »

Must Be Nice: Oregon Bartender Receives $17,500 Winning Lottery Ticket As Tip

Some people have all the luck. Bartender Receives $17,500 Tip Can we hold a stack? According to The NY Daily News Last week at Conway’s Restaurant and Lounge in Springfield, Ore. an unidentified male patron, who routinely gave bartender Aurora Kephart unplayed Keno tickets as tips, on Tuesday night asked her to select a pair. Kephart chose wisely. When she checked the numbers, the 25-year-old bartender found she had two winning tickets — one for $5 and one for $17,500. “The look on his face was incredible,” Kephart told the Register-Guard newspaper. “I automatically handed it back to him. It was his ticket.” The patron refused to take the ticket back and made Kephart sign it to seal the deal. “The bar is 80% regulars, so everyone knows everyone,” she told the newspaper. “People were so excited for me.” Kephart was able to keep her composure and finish her shift. She gave the patron a percentage of the winnings and plans to save most of the rest of it. She does, however, have her eye on a new couch. “I never realized how expensive couches were,” she said. “Instead of waiting till Christmas or later, now I can buy something I really need.” He knew he wanted to take that ticket back though. Race Matters? Survey Shows 1 In 4 Men In Asia Have Sexually Assaulted A Woman

Does this explain the sexual assault phenomenon in India ? Via N Y Daily News reports : Nearly one in four men surveyed in Asia say they have sexually assaulted a woman at least once according to a disturbing new report. Among men interviewed in Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka 1 in 10 said he had forced sex with a woman who wasn’t his partner. The rate rose by 24 percent when partners were included. Researchers behind the study published in The Lancet Global Health Journal on Tuesday said they hoped to deepen the understanding of men’s use of violence against women in order to prevent it. Through their efforts, 10,000 men between 18 and 49 years of age were interviewed in private surveys that never used to word “r*pe.” Instead, the men read sexual and/or physically violent scenarios and were asked if they had ever acted that way either toward a partner or non-partner. A little under half admitted to having forced sex more than one woman, with the numbers drastically rising or falling by region. Among the nine sites surveyed within the countries, the most men admitting to being physically violent and/or sexually violent with a partner were in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, where an overwhelming 80% of men admitted to such behavior. Papua, Indonesia came in second with 60% of men. In contrast two other Indonesian sites described simply as “urban” and “rural” contained the survey’s least amount of men that admitted to such behavior. Among the reasons cited, the most common reported was men’s claimed sense of sexual entitlement. That was followed by claims of motivation out of fun or boredom, anger or punishment, and lastly drinking. More information about the report and gender-based violence prevention can be found at Partners4Prevention.org. SMH this is a damned shame. It sounds like a whole lot of women’s rights education needs to be done in other parts of the world. Hell, we could use more here too! Facebook

Texas Woman Convicted Of Killing Up To 46 Infants To Be Released From Prison After Only Serving 1/3 Of 99 Year Sentence!

What type of bullisht is THIS?!? Texas Woman To Be Released After Convicted Of Killing Up To 46 Infants Via ABCNews A nurse convicted in 1984 of killing an infant and suspected of murdering dozens more will be released from prison without completing her 99 year sentence because of an expired Texas law that grants a “mandatory release” to inmates with good behavior. On May 14, 1984 Genene Anne Jones, now 63, was sentenced for the murder of 15-month-old Chelsea McClellan in 1982 in a small-town pediatric clinic where Jones was a nurse. “I was holding Chelsea, she was facing me, and Jones gave her the first shot in her left thigh. Immediately Chelsea had trouble breathing. Chelsea was trying to say my name, but she couldn’t. I was extremely upset,” Petti McClellan, the victim’s mother, told ABC News. Jones began injecting the child with a lethal dose of the muscle relaxant succinylcholine while the baby was still in her mother’s arms, according to McClellan and court records. Jones was also convicted of injuring a child in another attack in which the child survived. She was sentenced to 60 years on that conviction, but it was ordered to be served concurrently with the 99 year sentence. Ron Sutton, the criminal prosecutor who won the murder conviction, estimates that Jones is responsible for the deaths of between 11 and 46 infants in Bexar County from 1978 and 1982. “I was present when all the investigators were adding up the numbers and, 11 to 46… I can confirm that that’s what it was,” Sutton told ABC News. WTF?! McClellan was meeting with Texas State senators in the early 1990s when she discovered that Jones would be scheduled for early release. “A congressman came up to me and as I told them Chelsea’s story he stopped me and asked when Genene Jones was sentenced,” McClellan recalled. He then told McClellan he would be back in a minute and left. “When he came back he looked upset and he told me, ‘We have a problem’,” McClellan said. “That’s when he told me Genene Jones would not serve her full sentence. I couldn’t believe it.” “I was stunned, sad, and so, so, angry. Probably the angriest I have been since Chelsea died. This makes no rhyme or reason. Not just for me and my family, but anybody who suffered. There were so many other victims,” McClellan said. “This is going to happen. There is nothing we can do. Nothing I can do,” Petti McClellan, continued. “This has nothing to do with the parole board, the courts. Genene Jones is going to walk free.” Jones will be released because of a Texas law called Mandatory Supervision. Enacted in 1977, the law allowed all convicted criminals to be automatically released on parole after they complete a certain amount of calendar time and good conduct time, which includes participating in work and self-improvement programs, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice parole and mandatory release guide.
