My name is Reiko, and on February 13 2012, I met Justin Bieber. It all started when my two friends, Emily & Angeliesse found out on a school day that Justin was here in NYC. We quickly decided to go to his hotel. It was around 9am when we got there and there was only one other girl. After waiting around half an hour or so, we saw his Escalade come and a few minutes later, Justin came out. We knew we had to keep calm and not go crazy and run to him or jump and freak out, so we walked towards him, calm . He was with Selena, and she was already in the car. He took pictures with three girls, then left. While doing this, Justin was getting SUPER annoyed at this one paparazzi who was all up in his face. After Justin went into his car he opened it a few seconds later and told the paps to “Stop it” and the paps just replied rudely “What?! No!” So Justin opened the door once more and said, “Can you stop it” The paps weren’t respecting Justin’s privacy and kept going at it, so lastly, Justin opens it again and says, “Go away!” As he said this, my friend Emily pushed the paparazzi and said, “JUSTIN SAID TO STOP IT, ALRIGHT!!” and we knew Justin saw this because it was right in front of his side of the window, and although we couldn’t see him from the tinted window, we hope he knows us beliebers got his back! My friend and I was devastated that we didn’t get a picture with him, but we were so glad that Angeliesse did because she went through so much to meet him and finally did. We then decided to wait until Justin came back to the hotel. While waiting, we saw Kenny and we asked, “Can we get a picture with you? We love you!” He was SUCH a nice person, he came up to me, put his arm around me and took a picture. Already meeting Kenny was the best way to start the day. Also, we met Moshe , people know him as white Kenny, and he was so sweet too! He took pictures with everyone, so did Kenny. After we waited for a few hours at around 2:00pm, Justin’s car pulled over and he got out and was talking on the phone. He then quickly waves, and told us, “I’ll be back outside soon” and went into the hotel. We were all then so hyped up, especially how close he was. He was beautiful. After half an hour later, the hotel staff started to put up barricades, there were around 40 people there by that time. Around 3:45pm, he came outside and he went to the other side of the barricades first, and took pictures with everyone. He also asked to take a group photo as well. In the beginning, we didn’t know if Justin was going to come over to this side, so everyone said, “JUSTIN! Please come over here!”. We all got really happy. As he came over, everyone started to ask for pictures with him, so I went up to him. I tapped his arm and asked, “Can I please get a picture with you?” He put his arm around me and then I snapped the picture. Those few seconds of my life was the best thing that has ever happened to me. After a few minutes, he said, “Can everyone please move back a little bit, I’m claustrophobic” and everyone moved back a few steps. As I quickly told him thank you, I realized that Emily didn’t get her picture yet so I nudged her towards Justin and they got a picture. After Justin took a few pictures with the rest of the girls, he went into his car. Afterwards, all the girls just hugged each other and screamed “OHHH MYY GODD WE JUST MET JUSTIN BIEBER!!” I made a heart with my hands to the car. Everyone was so greatful for what just happened. Although some people may say that Justin doesn’t care about his fans, he DEFINITELY does. He didn’t have to come outside and take pictures with us, he could’ve just went into his car and left. He really cares, a lot. I’m going to be honest, I’ve never thought I was going to meet Justin and I did. We have tried so many times to meet Justin, at Dolche and Gabbana, Today Show, and more. Also, Angeliesse has been through so much while trying to meet Justin (she had to get rushed to the hospital during his Today concert) so I’m really glad she finally got the chance to meet him, you deserve it. This whole experience was amazing. I met new really sweet beliebers and I am just so grateful to have the chance to meet him. Thank you, Justin. – @itsreikooo Read the original here: My name is Reiko, and on February 13 2012, I met Justin…
Ahem! Billy Bob Thornton wants to clear something up: “I would never make a movie about my best friend, either, or any other ex of mine, or something. That’s not my bag. I don’t mind exposing myself, but I’m certainly not gonna make a movie about someone else. If she came to me, or any of my friends came to me, and said, ‘I would like for you to write a film about these experiences I’ve had,’ then I would consider that. But no — we don’t even know how that happened.” Alas. [ Vulture ]
Can’t wait for Sam Raimi’s star-studded, mega-budget Oz: The Great and Powerful ? How about a low-budget, modern-day twist on the L. Frank Baum classic featuring Dorothy as a children’s book author (and Kansas transplant, natch) in Manhattan and co-starring Lance Henriksen, Billy Boyd and Christopher Lloyd? Oh. Well anyway, here’s the latest on Dorothy and the Witches of Oz , the erstwhile little-seen mini-series that by all appearances this weekend should become a little-seen theatrical release. Writer-director Leigh Scott’s film reportedly has one of the more roundabout broadcast/distribution records of any recent movie (save for Margaret , perhaps), but will finally come to theaters Friday. By “theaters,” I mean ” four venues in Arizona ,” with three more to follow Feb. 24 in Kansas and Kentucky. The film itself, meanwhile, appears pretty deeply NYC-centric — because no one’s ever imposed that twist on the Oz legend before: It does kind of look better than This Means War , right? And in “glorious 2D”! Well-played, team. Arizona, you are in luck! [via Big Hollywood ]

‘We’ve lived a lot of life,’ Kevin Jonas teases MTV News about what to expect on their first LP in three years. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Jonas Brothers Photo: MTV News It’s been nearly three years since the Jonas Brothers released an album together. And a lot has happened for the trio, both personally and professionally, since they dropped 2009’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times. Now, with all of that life experience under their belts, the guys are ready to hit the recording studio again. “In the next few weeks, we’re going to be going to New York and we’re gonna start writing for another project,” Joe told MTV News. The NYC trip probably has something to do with visiting little brother Nick, who is currently starring in Broadway’s “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” “It’s going to be, I think, our best record yet. I’m so excited.” The JoBros have been teasing fans for some time now about getting the band back together, and those plans seem to be coming to fruition. Kevin noted that they have a lot to say this time around. “We’ve lived a lot of life. … Joe and Nick have just released amazing projects and I’m so proud of them for that,” Kevin said. “They’ve had things in their hearts they wanted to put out there [and] now it’s going to be great. We’re all doing different things, living different parts of life and getting to experience it all together again. It’s going to be lots of fun.” As for when fans will get to hear the new album, Kevin promised it will drop “when it’s ready.” Joe, however, had a more definitive time frame for the highly anticipated release. “We want to be able to do things this year,” he said. “We have plans that nobody really knows about yet, performances that are already lined up and we have music already recorded too … our [aim] is probably close to the end of the year or next year.” Are you eager for new music from the Jonas Brothers? Clive Davis discovered Whitney Houston at a NYC nightclub when the singer was 20 years old. It was therefore eerie and appropriate that the artist passed away, possibly from an overdose on prescription drugs , just a few hours prior to the music producer’s annual pre-Grammy Awards party at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. The somber event did proceed as scheduled – with attendees including Britney Spears, Miranda Lambert, Brandy, Tom Hanks, P Diddy, Kim Kardashian and Mary J. Blige – and Davis opened the shindig with remarks abut Houston. “So, by now sadly, we have all learned of the unspeakably tragic news of our beloved Whitney’s passing. I don’t have to mask my emotions. Not in front of this room full of so many dear friends,” Davis said. “I do have a very heavy heart and I am personally devastated by the loss of someone who has meant so much to me for so many years. Whitney was so full of life. “She was so looking forward to tonight… She loved music and she loved this night that celebrates music.” A moment of silence followed, with Diana Krall, Tony Bennett and Alicia Keys later performing. On tonight’s Grammys telecast, meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute to Whitney.
Bachata star tells MTV News his first solo tour will present ‘nearly every single song on my new album, Formula, Vol. 1 .’ By Christina Garibaldi Romeo Santos Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images For over 15 years, Romeo Santos was the lead singer of the popular bachata group, Aventura . They performed across the globe, won 21 Billboard Latin Music Awards and released six studio albums — but now, Santos is stepping out on his own. The Bronx, New York, singer is returning to his hometown to play three sold-out shows at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden, a venue he sold out numerous times with his former band. “I love performing in New York,” Santos recently told MTV News. “Just something about the energy that the crowd gives you, you give it back, a lot of interaction. I’m looking forward to it.” Yet, this time, it will be a different experience for Santos, since he will be performing on his own. This past November, Santos released his debut solo album, Formula, Vol. 1 , which mixes his famous bachata style with R&B. On Friday (February 10), Santos will kick off his tour at MSG, performing for the first time in over a year. So, what can this sold-out crowd expect? “A lot of energy,” Santos said. “I don’t like to plans things a lot. It’s gonna be a show with a little bit of everything. You’re gonna hear some of my Aventura classics, nearly every single song on my new album, Formula, Vol. 1 , and what I do is I go onstage and I just ride it out. I don’t like planning what am I gonna say to the crowd. Sometimes the show takes a whole different twist.” Santos, who said he’s more anxious than nervous to take the stage without his Aventura bandmates, will be on the road until the end of March, and is humbled by the positive response he’s received from his fans. “I’m really, really grateful. I don’t take anything for granted,” Santos said. “I’ve been working very, very hard. I was very focused on this last production. I wanted it to represent a lot and not abandon my genre, my roots. ” Santos, who teamed up with Usher and Lil Wayne on his debut album, is not ruling out the possibility that these two might join him onstage during his tour. “It’s possible,” he said. “What I normally do is keep it a surprise, but it’s a possibility.” Are you excited to see Romeo Santos in concert? Skrillex, Avicii, Duck Sauce, Swedish House Mafia and Robyn also contenders for Best Dance Recording at Sunday’s show. By Adam Stewart David Guetta Photo: Larry Marano/ Getty Images Kudos to the Academy. They’ve pretty much nailed it when it comes to the Grammy nominees in what’s arguably the most-important dance-related category Sunday night: Best Dance Recording. In 2011, the U.S. EDM market saw an explosion the likes of which hadn’t seen since the punk rock revolution back in the ’90s, and those given the nod are a testament to its abounding success. A category once graced by Madonna, Britney and Gaga is now overrun by the Prince of Dubstep, a monstrous mouse, a turntable whiz and his NYC cohort, three rock stars of house, a Frenchman with a Swedish prodigy and a girl who originally showed us love in the ’90s. Each one of the nominees was not only at the helm for producing a killer track, but was at the forefront of a movement that is changing the tastes of the American mainstream and truly defining cool culture. In further recognition of EDM’s explosion, the Grammys have lined up an all-star crew for a dance-music performance Sunday night in a tent outside Staples Center. Chris Brown, the Foo Fighters and Lil Wayne will join EDM superstars deadmau5 and David Guetta for a genre-busting performance that will highlight dance/electronica music. This marks the first Grammy performance to shed light on the increasingly popular genre, which has recently seeped into every form of music. For anyone still getting their feet wet in the scene, fear not: We’ve broken down the Best Dance Recording noms, put together a little prediction of who will probably win, based on how these things have gone in the past, and who should win — as in, what might best be accepted and respected by the EDM masses. It could very well be a pivotal year for the Grammys — if they get it right. Best Dance Recording Nominees deadmau5 and Greta Svabo Bech, “Raise Your Weapon” : deadmau5 went dubstep with this little experiment, and it earned him high marks. The angelic vocals of Bech, juxtaposed with signature ruff and rugged dubstep riffs, this track catapulted itself into a monster. deamau5 again showcased his versatility while (for the most part) maintaining that signature deadmau5 sound, but was it original enough for what we usually expect from this seemingly unconquerable musical madman? Duck Sauce , “Barbra Streisand” : In 2009, iconic NYC house-music icon Armand Van Helden paired up with Canadian spin master A-Trak in a collaborative effort named after the most popular of all condiments in pan-Asian cuisine. Since then, they’ve become one of the most popular dance acts around, in large part due to this crossover smash that pays homage to one of America’s most beloved entertainers. The tune is decked out with a spirited house groove and a vocal hook that everyone knows the words to. You’d have to have lived on the moon to not have heard this one, and have no soul to do anything but love it. David Guetta and Avicii , “Sunshine” : True EDM fans can’t complain on this one. It’s progressive house at its finest. EDM loyalists all the world over were ecstatic to see Guetta distancing himself from the Peas and picking up on Avicii, who is simply one of the most insanely talented producers out there. Try listening to this tune and not smiling ear to ear. It combines Avicii’s signature piano riffs and progressive charm with Guetta’s thunderous big room house and ability to produce bangers at a moment’s notice. The production value of “Sunshine” is precise, clean and harmonious. If the Academy is properly tuned in, this thumper has a good chance of coming out the victor. Robyn , “Call Your Girlfriend” : Taking nothing away, this is a killer tune by one of the key players in the dance-music crossover. However, it was Kaskade’s remix (un-nominated) that truly resonated with the EDM masses. Regardless, the original was a monster in the mainstream, and the killer cut off the third installment of Body Talk has absolutely taken Robyn to new heights and solidified her place as one of the all-time dance-music greats. Skrillex , “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” : This track was Dubstep 101 to anyone who’d never heard the genre. Call it “brostep” if you will, but you can’t deny that it expanded the sonic pallet of anyone who dared to listen to it. Some would say EDM noobs as a whole probably think the track defines the movement as a whole, which is less than accurate. Never the less, Skrillex and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” is a very fitting example of what helped push dance music into the spotlight in 2011. Don’t be surprised to see Skrillex walking away with the golden gramophone. Swedish House Mafia , “Save the World” : The year 2011 was perhaps an incubation period for the rock stars of house. Having released just a pair of tracks in the calendar year, the Swedes went a little more pop on this than they had in the past, but nevertheless, still gave their loyal following what they wanted with a killer hook and an impossible-not-to-sing-along vocal provided by fellow Swede John Martin. If videos were involved in the selection, this would certainly take the prize. Heroic puppies and house music? A match made in heaven.
