The Side-Eye: Slavery-Lovin’ Lawmaker Jon Hubbard Defends Comments, ‘Slavery Was Cruel… But Black People Are Better Off Here Than In Africa’

Aww shucks…thanks for clearing that up for us! Jon Hubbard actually gave an interview to defend his piece of isht book and it backfired because the lawmaker just ended up sounding even more racist. Hubbard continued to say that African-Americans are lucky they were once slaves. According to TalkBusiness : “Slavery was cruel, but as a result of slavery, we have African-Americans living in this country today who are living here in situations that are probably much better to endure than if they were living in Sub-Saharan Africa. If you had the choice knowing the lifestyle of people living in Africa and knowing the lifestyle of people living in the United States, which would you choose? Pure and simple.” “But I think the end result — that they [African-Americans] did get to live in America, although the means for getting here were terrible —I think the end result was better than it would have been if they had to live in Africa themselves.” Asked if the outcome justified the institution of slavery in early America, Hubbard said it did not. “I don’t think anything justifies nearly three centuries of slavery, but the facts are the facts; we can’t take that back,” he said. “… I don’t know of any other way that black people in America could have gotten here if there hadn’t been slavery back at that time.” According to Hubbard’s version of history, absolutely no one in Africa had a boat or a ship back in the day. Wow! We never knew Africans didn’t have boats!! The saddest part about this story is the fact that Arkansas Republican leaders have not asked Hubbard to resign. Images via Facebook

Stop The Violence–Another Officer Faces ZERO Charges After Shoooting Oakland Teen

Another grown azz Man thought his life was in danger and took a teens life. According to The Huffington Post : The Oakland police officer who shot and killed a black teenager earlier this year will not face charges in a case that has touched off a lightning storm of controversy between the city’s African American community and a troubled police force on the brink of a federal takeover. On Tuesday, the Alameda County District Attorney’s office released an 18-page report on the incident, stating that Officer Miguel Masso acted in self defense when he shot Alan Blueford three times in the torso after the 18-year old Skyline High School student pointed a gun at him. “Officer Masso actually and reasonably believed that his life was in danger after he had made eye contact with Mr. Blueford and that if he did not shoot, he would be killed,” Senior District Attorney Keneth Mifsud wrote. The report states that on May 6 of this year, Masso and his partner Officer Joe Fesmire were driving in their patrol car and saw Blueford walking with two others in Oakland’s Castlemont neighborhood, allegedly in the process of a drug deal, when the officers noticed that Blueford looked as if he might be concealing a gun in his waistband. Masso and Fesmire detained the trio but Blueford soon fled on foot. Masso gave chase for a number of blocks before the teen allegedly pulled an object that Masso identified as a handgun from his pants and pointed it at Masso. In front of a private residence where a birthday party was underway, Blueford tripped, fell to the ground and again pointed a gun at the officer. Masso fired four shots, three of which fatally struck Blueford and the other which hit his own foot. “I was scared,” said Masso, who claimed this was the first time anyone had ever pointed a gun at him. “It scared the living crap out of me.” Masso is currently on medical leave. A coroner’s report on Blueford found no gunpowder residue on his hands and no drugs or alcohol in his bloodstream. Police found a gun containing Blueford’s fingerprints on the ground near where he was shot that was stolen from the home of a police officer last year. The victim’s father, Adam Blueford, told the San Francisco Chronicle that he was disappointed at the district attorney’s decision not to charge Masso. “We thought it might go this way,” he said. “My son didn’t commit any crime at all other than running. This is alarming.” The Blueford family has led a series of contentious protests in recent months. “Alan cannot speak, so I’m going to speak for Alan,” said his mother, Jeralynn Blueford, at a protest in front of an police substation last month. “[OPD’s] job is to protect and serve–I was not served and Alan was not protected. We are about standing for justice.” The Oakland PD REFUSED to publicly release a police report about the incident and we’re told there have been different reports on whether or not Blueford ever fired a gun. Folks in the community believe this is all part of a police coverup. Images via facebook

Brutality: One-Time Who Was On The Scene When Officer Murked Innocent College Baller Danroy Henry Says Cop Was Aggressor In Shooting!

What’s done in the dark will always come to light. We knew from jump that there was plenty of shady dealings goings on around the MURDER of Pace football star Danroy Henry who was shot to death by a Mt. Pleasant police officer two years ago, but now the lid is being blown off the whole situation. Ronald Beckley, another officer on the scene recently participated in a series of depositions as part of the civil case against the city of Mt. Pleasant. During those depositions he confirmed that Aaron Hess, the officer who fired the shots was, in his opinion, the aggressor… So much so that he actually fired his own weapon and shot him! This is completely different from earlier “official Police” versions of events. The original story was that DJ Henry was leaving a parking lot and struck a Officer Aaron Hess in the knee causing him to fly on the hood of the car and he opened fire to save himself. Part of the original story was also that Officer Ronald Beckley fired into the car to save Aaron Hess. It was later announced that Aaron Hess had to have surgery on his knee due to blunt force caused by DJ’s vehicle. We spent much of the past two days reading the lengthy depositions that have been posted on the website of Michael Sussman, Esq, the lawyer representing the Henry family. You can find them HERE , but we will summarize what we found and include some screencaps: In a series of depositions conducted last week, the second officer involved in the shooting, Officer Ronald Beckley, openly admits to causing the knee injury to Aaron Hess by shooting Aaron Hess. Officer Ronald Beckley shot Aaron Hess, realizing Aaron Hess was the aggressor and that he was about to cause unnecessary harm to DJ Henry! It was revealed by Officer Ronald Beckley during his deposition that he shot at Aaron Hess out of concern for DJ because he didn’t initially recognize Officer Hess as a police officer and felt that he was the aggressor in the situation by pulling his weapon and firing into the car DJ was driving. Beckley then confirmed that he hadn’t seen the official accounts that were supposed to be based on his statements until just weeks prior to his deposition. Very troublesome since the Westchester DA presented these falsified documents to a Grand Jury and Officer Aaron Hess and Ronald Beckley admit that they were never even questioned by the DA herself. Based on Beckley’s deposition, Police Lieutenant Brian Fanelli also falsified documents of Ronald Beckley’s original statement to make it appear that he shot into the car because he was in fear of his life. Fanelli also appears to have lied to Beckley by saying his shots didn’t hit Hess and that he didn’t know how he made it out of the situation alive. Even more shady, in his deposition Beckley revealed the Police Chief REFUSED to speak to him about what he witnessed at all, and recommended he find a lawyer to represent him. The public has been fed a pack of lies for the past two years as part of a police cover up to keep Officer Hess for being punished for his aggressive actions. We’re talking about an all American, college honor student who was an athlete and was truly murdered the night of his homecoming game. It’s crazy how many people would go out of the way to protect a crooked cop. Sadly, Beckley, a 30-year veteran of the force retired immediately after the incident and those in power have done everything they could to prevent him from revealing the truth. But it is good to know there are good cops out there who are capable of doing their job, even if it did take two years for him to break down and tell the truth. The sickest part of all of this is that the city of Mount Pleasant awarded Hess Officer of the Year knowing this was all a lie. Talk about an intentional slap in the face to DJ’s family! We hope they will find some measure of justice finally now that the truth is finally coming out.

Amanda Bynes in ANOTHER Alleged Hit-and-Run Crash (Really)

A woman claims that troubled star Amanda Bynes rear-ended her car and then drove off without exchanging insurance info Saturday afternoon. This would be the third alleged hit-and-run of the year for AB. Kisa, whose last name has been withheld by TMZ for the time being, says she was struck by Bynes driving her Toyota Corolla on Ventura Blvd. She didn’t recognize the woman at first – because she “looked like a hot mess” – but once they began talking, realized it was Amanda Bynes. Kisa says she got out her insurance card to exchange details, as is customary in such cases, but says Bynes “seemed nervous about that.” According to her, Bynes told her the damage “didn’t look that bad” and proceeded to push her bumper back into place … which didn’t work. Bynes then said they didn’t need to exchange info since neither car was damaged – Kisa says Bynes’ car had “significant” damage to it – and peaced out. Kisa called police, who responded to the scene. Kisa says when she told the officer who hit her, the officer replied, “Didn’t she just get a DUI?” As a matter of fact, police arrested Amanda Bynes for DUI April 6 … and she was also accused of hit and run incidents on May 5 and May 27. Making It Rain On Them Bums: Homeless Man Who Made $60k A Year Begging Says He’s Too Lazy To Get A Real Job

$60k? Where do we sign up? A man who was arrested for panhandling without a permit told police officers he was too lazy to get a job because he could make $60,000 a year begging. Shane Warren Speegle was allegedly caught panhandling near Interstate 40 and Macarthur Boulevard in Oklahoma City earlier this month. Officers informed the 45-year-old that he was breaking the law and that he would need to pay $200 for a permit to solicit in the area. The 45-year-old asked if he could get a permit that day as $200 was relatively cheap, according to KOCO.com. When the officer asked why Speegle did not just look for a job, he replied: ‘I’m lazy, and I made $60,000 doing this last year. Why would I go get a job?’ The officer left after asking the beggar to leave the area and reminding him that he could not panhandle without a permit. But when the officer returned a mere 20 minutes later, he found Speegle panhandling in the same spot. He was arrested on a complaint of soliciting from the street and taken to the Oklahoma County jail. Racks on racks on racks!! Source

Jesus Take The Wheel: Woman Fatally Shot In Detroit When Hug Accidentally Triggered Gun Of Off-Duty Police Officer

Detroit Woman Fatally Shot From Gun Accidentally Triggered By Hug Wow. This is tragically sad. A woman celebrating the weekend before her 25th birthday was fatally shot Sunday when she hugged an off-duty police officer while dancing at a party, causing the officer’s service weapon to fire, according to police and her mother. Adaisha Miller would have turned 25 on Monday, according to her mother, Yolanda McNair. The shooting happened at an outdoor social gathering about 12:30 a.m., said police Sgt. Eren Stephens. It happened on the city’s west side. According to Stephens, the woman “embraced the officer from behind, causing the holstered weapon to accidently discharge.” The bullet punctured Miller’s lung and hit her heart, and she died at a hospital. Stephens said the Detroit officer will remain on administrative duties while authorities investigate the shooting and report their findings to the Wayne County prosecutor. The officer’s name was not released. “For this to happen to her, whether they want to call it freak accident or mistake in judgment, it should have never happened to my child, and there’s nothing I can do to get her back,” McNair told WDIV-TV. McNair said her daughter was out to mark her upcoming birthday. “All she wanted to do was enjoy the weekend for her birthday,” the mother said. “She had every right to enjoy turning 25 and look beyond that.” R.I.P. Adrian Peterson Arrested, Charged With Resisting Arrest in Club Altercation

NFL star Adrian Peterson shoved an off-duty police officer in a Houston bar early Saturday morning, leading to his arrest , the Houston P.D. says. An off-duty officer was working security for the nightclub Live! at Bayou Place when closing time came and he told patrons it was time to leave. The officer had to tell Peterson a second time he had to leave and the Vikings running back shot back, “Hey man, we heard you the first time!” He then pushed the officer in the back of his shoulder, causing him to stumble. The officer then told Peterson to turn around and put his arms behind his back because he was under arrest and Peterson began yelling at him. The officer repeated himself and Peterson turned around to face the officer and got in “an aggressive stance,” ignoring more verbal warnings. A second and third officer then rushed over, according to the police, and they were finally able to arrest the all-star athlete and take him to jail. He was booked on the charge of resisting arrest. Adrian Peterson was heavily intoxicated at the time of his arrest, which was very out of character for him, according to the nightclub owner. Peterson has been to the club before, but he has never known him to drink much. He was reportedly a difficult customer all night Friday, though. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]

Another Pig Walks After Taped Beating Of Unarmed 15-Year Old Black Kid: Even The Mayor Is Pissed! [Video]

What the hell is going on… is this the 60′s?: Not guilty verdict in case against ex-Houston officer Andrew Blomberg So the cops and people of America feel it’s just “kill black boy” season: A fired Houston police officer has been found not guilty of official oppression in the videotaped beating of a teen burglar. The Harris County jury found 29-year-old Andrew Blomberg not guilty of official oppression. He was fired from the Houston Police Department after a videotape surfaced of the beating of Chad Holley during his March 2010 arrest. Holley was 15 years old at the time of the beating and arrest. He was later convicted of the burglary. The jury began deliberating the case at about noon on Tuesday, and returned to their deliberation at 9:30am today. They returned a verdict shortly after 11am. Houston Mayor Annise Parker said, “I do not agree with the verdict. No way he will ever again be a Houston police officer.” “This was a just verdict,” said KTRK legal analyst Joel Androphy. “Police officers have different boundaries than the rest of us. This officer was acquitted because police officers get extra benefit of the doubt.” Community activist Quanell X called the verdict not simply a miscarriage of justice, but an “abortion.” “They just said to black people that the police can do whatever they want to do and get away with it. They just sent a message to all of us that our lives don’t mean a (darn) thing in Harris County,” Quanell X said. The situation at the courthouse has been heated ever since closing arguments on Tuesday morning, and tensions escalated there after the not guilty verdict was announced. Blomberg was held in the courtroom for safety reasons for more than 30 minutes after the verdict was read. The situation in the hallway was described as ‘chaos.’ Outside the building, Blomberg told reporters, “I’m glad it’s over and I’m going home… just going to take a deep breath and reassess after this, see what I want to do.” Blomberg said that he would not seek to get his HPD officer job back. Ray Hunt, president of the Houston Police Officers’ Union, says he hopes there is no lingering commotion in community. However, Quanell X is reportedly calling for a protest, and suggests that ‘if people are going to be violent, then they’re going to be violent.’ Those speaking for the Black United Front reportedly said to “let justice reign in the streets.” The Reverend Robert Jefferon with the Cullen Missionary Baptist Church told Eyewitness News, “Yes, I do feel they whooped that boy unmercifully, and somebody should be punished, yes I do.” If convicted, Blomberg could have faced up to a year in jail and/or up to a $4,000 fine. Androphy adds that this verdict has sent a strong message to the prosecution that it’s going to be difficult to convict the three other officers charged in connection with this beating case. HPD Chief Charles McClelland released a statement which read in part: “I would like to thank the jury for their hard work and dedication in listening to the evidence and rendering a decision in this case. I understand that some will disagree with the verdict, and although no system is perfect, our system of jurisprudence provides appropriate safeguards to protect our freedom. “I also appreciate the citizens of Houston and trust that they will continue to express themselves in a manner that is respectful of the rights and privileges we all share. It is important to remember that the officer that was the subject of this trial is no longer a Houston police officer and that a separate and distinct administrative process has confirmed his termination from the Houston Police Department. He will never again be a Houston Police Officer.” Mayor Parker also said that the actions of the officers allegedly involved in the beating don’t represent the thousands of other officers in HPD. Harris Co. District Attorney Pat Lykos said in a statement, “Although, I respectfully disagree with the decision, I accept it and thank the jurors for their service. We have the best criminal justice system in the world. We are prepared to go to trial on the remaining three cases and request the court to set speedy trials.” Turn the page to see this foul in court celebrating and for the disturbing beating footage. George Zimmerman Pleads Not Guilty, Waives Right to Speedy Trial

George Zimmerman pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin and waived his right to a speedy trial on Tuesday. Arguing to a Florida court that he needs more time to prepare for trial, his move means it could be October at the earliest before it gets underway. Zimmerman’s intentions were outlined in two brief documents that his attorney, Mark O’Mara, filed Tuesday in Seminole County, Fla., circuit court. The actions did not come as a surprise to legal experts, who said such moves are common even in less-complex and lower-profile felony cases. Florida law requires suspects charged with a felony be brought to trial within 175 days of their arrest, unless those defendants ask that the right be waived. Zimmerman was released from jail after posting $150,000 bond last month. The 28-year-old turned himself in to authorities on April 11, charged with the murder of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager on February 26. Martin was walking in Zimmerman’s neighborhood in Sanford, Fla., and for reasons only he truly knows, considered him to be suspicious. Law enforcement officials’ initial reluctance to arrest Zimmerman sparked a national outcry, with many observers suspecting that Zimmerman was given a break because of his race, and the race of the young man he fatally shot. The case has also shined a light on mainstream media bias, highlighted by NBC’s editing of the 911 call from the night of the fatal altercation. He admits he shot Martin, 17, but claims he did so in self-defense. He pleaded not guilty in court documents, making his appearance unnecessary at a Tuesday arraignment hearing. At his first pre-trial hearing following his arrest, he surprised many by apologizing to Martin’s family .

Queen Latifah to Headline Gay Pride Festival

During the same week when North Carolina residents passed a constitutional amendment that defines marriage exclusively between a man and a woman, it looks like Queen Latifah has decided to come out of the closet. Rumors about the veteran star’s sexual preference have been circulating for years, but now it appears she’s chosen to end the speculation… by headlining this year’s Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival. It takes place on May 19/20. Said Pat Crosby, co-president of the event: “From hip to R&B, pop to standards, Queen Latifah is the voice of our generation, and her concert here will be phenomenal. For her to make her worldwide Pride debut here in Long Beach is a tremendous testament to the popularity of our celebration and to the strength of our community.”
