At least they didn’t shoot him … New Mexico Police Help Shoplifting Dad Buy Baby Formula What started as a shoplifting call, turned into something very different for a group of officers and the suspect. Instead of arresting a father for stealing baby formula, four officers ended up helping him and his 11-month-old. Via KRQE reports: The story is quickly spreading on social media. The officers’ Sergeant calls it “old fashioned compassion” in his Facebook post, and it’s already gotten hundreds of shares. An Albertsons employee called Roswell Police Sunday, after spotting a man shoplifting, hiding stolen items in a baby carrier. “We waited at the front door for him, confronted him at the front door,” recalled Officer Joe Mason, of the Roswell Police Department. “We uncovered the baby carrier and found it was baby formula.” Officer Mason, Officer Chris Bradley, along with Officer Anthony Armijo and a New Mexico State Police officer, were there. The officers said the man immediately showed remorse for stealing the items. He told police he recently lost his job, and the formula was for his 11-month-old son. “He just seemed like he was down on his luck,” said Bradley. “It kind of happened without even being said you know, we all knew what the right thing to do was,” added Mason. Each officer pitched in their own money, and bought him the baby formula, about $80 worth. Even Albertsons pitched in, and the man ended up with five canisters of baby formula. “He broke down, it was a very emotional moment for everybody that was there,” recalled officer Bradley. Police said the man was in tears. He was grateful for the officers’ compassion, and said he would never look at cops the same way. “He didn’t have really criminal intent, he was just a man trying to feed his child,” said Bradley. “And you know, I put myself in his shoes.” The officers told KRQE News 13 they treat every situation differently, and had a lengthy discussion with the man. “Where is he going to better serve that child, in jail – or at home taking care of him?,” Mason explained. “And that’s what’s important.” A Roswell Sergeant shared the story in a Facebook post, saying “Great job day shift. I am honored to be your Sergeant.” The Facebook post received more than 300 shares in less than a day. Several people responded, saying “awesome display of kindness, compassion, and respect!” Another person wrote, “Class Act right there! That’s what being a police officer is all about!!” Bradley and Mason both told News 13, they did not expect such a wide response. “We did it just because it felt like the right thing to do,” said officer Bradley. The officers shared resources that could help the man, so he wouldn’t resort to stealing. “If you can actually touch someone in a positive way, that’s what we want as a police officer you know,” said officer Mason. “My best memories and the coolest stuff I’ve done as a cop has been helping people.” Not only are people sharing the story on Facebook, they’re responding. Roswell Police said they’ve gotten multiple messages from people wanting to donate diapers and formula to the man. The officers are also helping him find a new job. Facebook

Chelsea Clinton Gives Birth to Baby Girl!

Chelsea Clinton is a mother for the first time. The global activist and former First Daughter, 34, welcomed a baby girl with her husband Marc Mezvinsky! “Marc and I are full of love, awe and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky,” Clinton wrote late Friday night. Months after announcing she and Mezvinsky hoped to make 2014 the “Year of the Baby,” Chelsea, confirmed in April that the couple were expecting. “I certainly feel all the better whether it’s a girl or a boy that she or he will grow up in world filled with so many strong female leaders,” she said. Appropriately, Bill and Hillary Clinton’s only child made the announcement at a Clinton Foundation event for the empowerment of girls and young women. Her mom, the former Secretary of State, has been excited for the arrival, stockpiling kids’ books and planning to have a car seat in her own vehicle. “I want to babysit any chance I get!” the former First Lady said at a political gathering in September, “Bill and I are on constant grandchild watch.” Chelsea kept a busy pace at the Clinton Global Initiative just days before Charlotte’s arrival. Hopefully now she’ll get some well needed rest (just kidding)! New parent humor. On Friday night’s Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 1, Baez ended up badly injured after a convoy carrying drug evidence to be incinerated was attacked. What led us to that point, and what transpired afterward? Watch Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 1 Online As  Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 1 proved with the situation in Times Square, police often find themselves in situations where there is no easy answer. React too fast and make an error in split-second judgment? You’re at fault. Take your time and try to process the situation and miss your chance? You’re also at fault. Officer McCarthy found this out the hard way even though he was following procedure, failing to consider the impact of traffic. The more surprising aspect of all this was the response. Uncharacteristically, Frank let the mayor bully him into letting his officers down, a first for him and perhaps a sign of a profound arc here in Season 5. As for Baez and Danny, they drew fire while protecting a drug transport, and she verbally fired on him in a different sense, for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the stresses of work and life all culminated in that moment, but she later admitted that Danny was the closest thing to family she had left. Speaking of partners, Jamie’s feelings about his? Complex. As Erin tried to say, Jamie’s feelings for Eddie are increasingly obvious … to everyone else. Did Jamie make the right decision about his partner, though? And has Frank changed the way he does his job for better or worse, since he took the job? He wasn’t even safe in police custody. Yale Professor Found Dead In Jail Cell This is sad. According to NBC Connecticut: New Haven detectives are investigating the sudden death of a Yale professor who was being held in a cell at the Union Avenue Detention Facility. Police said Samuel See, 34, of New Haven was arrested on Saturday night. On Sunday, he was found unresponsive in his cell and later pronounced deceased. Police went to See’s home after receiving a complaint of a domestic dispute at 5:15 p.m. Saturday. According to police, See’s husband, Saunder Ganglani, 32, of New Haven, had gone to See’s home to retrieve his belongings despite a protective order that was in place. Ganglani told officers that he’d spent about two and a half hours at the house on Saturday before police responded. Officers charged Ganglani with violating the protective order and spoke with See, who told police to remove Ganglani from the home, police said. As officers were speaking with See, they mentioned there is also a protective order filed for See to stay away from Ganglani and See “became enraged,” police said. He yelled that it was his house, said he shouldn’t be arrested and fought with the officers when they tried handcuffing him. As he was being brought to the cruiser, he yelled “I will kill you. … I will destroy you,” to one of the officers, police said. See had suffered a cut over his eye and police called for EMS to evaluate him, police said. An ambulance transported See to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was treated. After being released, he was placed in police custody, taken to the detention facility and charged with violating a protective order, interfering with Police and threatening in the second degree. Detectives from the New Haven Police Department are investigating the death. “Mr. Samuel See was delivered to the detention center on Nov. 23 at approximately 9:10 p.m. by New Haven Police and was alert and communicating with Judicial Marshals throughout his detainment until Marshals assigned to the detention center found him non-responsive in his cell at approximately 6 a.m. on Nov. 24. Marshals immediately provided CPR and other lifesaving efforts, until relieved by New Haven Fire and Rescue,” Rhonda Stearley-Hebert, program manager of communications for the Connecticut Judicial Branch, said in an e-mailed statement. See was an assistant professor of English and American Studies who was on leave this semester. “The University community is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Samuel See. Our condolences go out to his family, faculty colleagues, and students, and his friends at Yale and elsewhere,” a statement from Yale says. The situation seems a little fishy. Damn. That had to hurt. Man Puts Gun Up His Rectum According to Mail Online A man was booked into an Oklahoma jail over the weekend with a loaded firearm concealed inside his rectum. Mark Gregory Valadez was arrested on Sunday morning on a minor city violation and transported to the Oklahoma County Jail. Authorities said that because so many people were being booked into jail at the time, Valadez was only subjected to a pat-down and wasn’t made to go through a metal detector. As a result of the lax screening, Valadez, 33, was locked up with a Derringer pistol contained a single round of ammunition inside his body cavity, reports The Smoking Gun. Authorities only learned about the weapon after Valadez, who lives in Wichita, Kansas, bragged to other inmates that he had smuggled a weapon into the jail. About 16 hours after Valadez was locked up, police carried out a cavity search on him which resulted in the loaded gun being uncovered. ‘We had our officers go up and do a search and they found a little small Derringer with one small round inside,’ Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel told KFOR. You big dummy. Following the weapon’s discovery, Valadez was transported to a local hospital for treatment on injuries suffered as a result of placing the gun inside his body. According to Sheriff Whetsel, the term for what Valadez did is called ‘keistering.’ ‘They take whatever it is and up the hole she goes,’ he said. Valadez is now being held in lieu of $5000 bond, according to jail records. He was originally arrested on a city violation that has now been upgraded to a felony count of possession of contraband in a penal institution. Earlier this year, an Oklahoma woman was charged with having a loaded revolver in her vagina when she was booked into jail on drug charges. The suspect, Christie Dawn Harris, was sentenced in July to 25 years in state prison. Who sticks a loaded gun up their azz? We feel bad for the officers who had to do the cavity search. Black Boy Lost: 14-Year-Old Shot Dead By NYPD After Shoot-Out With Another Man!

Sweet baby Jesus… NYPD Shoots And Kills Armed 14-Year-Old After Shoot-Out With Another Man A rookie police officer shot and killed a 14-year-old boy on a street early Sunday after he refused to drop his gun and pointed it in the direction of officers, authorities said. Shaaliver Douse died of a single gunshot to his jaw after the confrontation in the Melrose section of the Bronx. Two officers with the New York Police Department were on foot patrol when they heard gunfire at around 3 a.m. The officers responded to the scene and found the boy with a 9mm handgun firing shots at a fleeing man, authorities said. Police released two surveillance videos Sunday evening that show a man they’ve identified as Douse, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, fire at a group of men standing outside a bodega and then chasing after one of them. Police said Douse fired four shots in all. The officers identified themselves as police and ordered him to drop his weapon, authorities said. “The officers ordered Douse to drop the gun but instead he fired another round,” NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said at a news conference. “It is undetermined at this time whether he fired at the officers or a fourth time at the unknown male who had just run past the officers.” When he pointed his gun in the direction of officers, one of the officers shot him, police said. Douse was pronounced dead at the scene. Although it appears that Shaaliver Douse was clearly in the wrong, it’s still sad to see another young brother killed. Teenage Chicago Gunman Shot And Killed By Police A Chicago teenager who police say was recklessly firing shots at pedestrians while riding on his bike has lost his life after being fatally shot by Chicago police officers. via Chicago Tribune A teenaged gunman on a bicycle who officials said was firing shots at pedestrians and police officers was fatally shot by police this afternoon on the West Side, according to authorities. The gunman, who is 15 or 16, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to Pat Camden, a police union spokesman. It happened in the 1300 block of South Independence Boulevard in the Lawndale neighborhood, according to police. At about 4:10 p.m., Ogden District tactical officers were northbound on Independence Boulevard approaching Roosevelt Road when they heard gunshots coming from the west side of Independence, according to a statement released by Chicago Police Department News Affairs. When the officers made a U-turn and crossed the median, they spotted the offender firing shots at pedestrians and fleeing southbound on a bicycle while brandishing a handgun, the statement said. “He was riding a bicycle firing at people on the street,” Camden said. The officers were pursuing the offender when he turned towards the officers and fired shots at them, prompting the officers to fire their weapons and hit the gunman, the statement said. “They’re right behind him in an unmarked car beeping their sirens and flashing their lights when he turns around, twice, and fired at the squad car,” Camden said. “The third time he turned around, the passenger in the squad car fired at him and hit him,” Camden said. “He was DOA at Mount Sinai.” Judging from what we know so far, it sounds like police had no other choice but to do what they did before this young man harmed anyone else. Jacob Cox-Brown is not smart. The Oregon teen was jailed following the dumbest Facebook gaffe of all time – and that’s saying something, as 95 percent of all Facebook posts could be considered dumb. His blunder? Bragging about driving drunk AND committing a hit-and run. “Drivin drunk … classsic 😉 but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P” was the early-morning post that quickly led to his arrest at home in Astoria, Oregon. Upon reading Jacob Cox-Brown’s post , two of the his Facebook friends contacted police; it became vital information in an ongoing investigation – go figure! The previous night, two officers responded to an incident in which a white Scion and an adjacent vehicle were damaged in their parking spots. After collecting pieces of a damaged taillight and bumper, police were informed about the Facebook post and headed over to the home of Cox-Brown. They arrested him on two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver. No DUI charge was filed as nine hours had passed and he was not in the car. “Astoria Police have an active social media presence,” a spokesman said. “It was a private Facebook message to one of our officers that got this case moving, though. When you post, you have to figure that it is not going to stay private long.”  “We actually use Facebook to find things not unlike this.” At 18, he can be charged as an adult; surprising, as he clearly has the IQ of a three-year-old. Too bad there’s no surcharge for social media stupidity.

Say It Ain’t So Eddie Cain!!! Michael Wright Of ‘The Five Heartbeats’ Popped For DUI

SMH. He hit a cop car trying to park his Rolls…a 1978 double R. According to TMZ … Michael Wright hand-wrapped the NYPD an early Christmas present this morning when he gave them the easiest DWI arrest ever … by hitting a police car … TMZ has learned.  Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Wright — who starred in the classic movie “The Five Heartbeats” — was trying to park his 1978 black Rolls Royce in Manhattan when he hit the car that had two officers sitting inside.  We’re told the officers went to have a word with Wright and detected an odor of alcohol on his breath. After the field sobriety test didn’t go Wright’s way, the officers arrested him. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Wright’s blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit. We’re told both officers were taken to a local hospital to be checked out after the accident. SMH.
