Stick and stones… Luol Deng Forgives Danny Ferry For Racist Comments Via ESPN Heat forward Luol Deng has forgiven Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry, who is on indefinite leave for making racially insensitive comments about the veteran forward in June. Deng was born in what is now South Sudan in Africa. Deng, speaking at the Heat’s media day, said he recently talked to Ferry and hopes they can make something positive of the situation. “I think one of the hardest things to do as a human being, and it’s something we should do more often, is forgive,” Deng said. “I really do forgive Danny. It’s not something I want to hold onto for the rest of my career or the rest of my life.” Deng said the Hawks were one of the few teams he considered this offseason. In July, Deng signed a two-year, $20 million deal with Miami before the comments became public earlier this month. “I really believe that he’s really sorry for what he said,” Deng said. “And whether it came from him or wherever it came from, the main focus really should be on how we move on going forward. What are we going to do about it?” Luol believes that this incident may just result in something positive for his people. “We could really turn this into a positive thing where people can benefit from,” Deng said. “It’s something we’d like to start, working together with Danny and helping people back home in Africa or working with an organization. Just so that one day we could look back and say this happened and it was something negative, but look at how it turned around and how it became something positive. “I’m not the type of person to hold on and be angry at somebody or be angry at Danny. I don’t think Danny is racist. I really don’t. I really don’t know Danny to describe him as a person. I just know who he is. That’s just what I believe in. I would like to put it behind me and just move forward. But I would really love if I could do something positive out of it.” Luol certainly is a man of high moral character, but could you have forgiven Danny Ferry for that bullisht he said? Image via AP
Bigfoot is once again back in the news, thanks to two new videos from British Columbia, Canada, that allegedly capture the hairy creature in action. Bigfoot Sighting in Canada Sasquatch Sighting in Canada The first video (left) shows what certainly looks like a giant, ape-like creature ambling through a forest, just a little bit too far away to be seen clearly. The second (right) appears to show a group of Chinese tourists in Mission, B.C., taking photos of a large ape-like figure creeping through the trees. The videos, dated July 18 and 24, came to light after Canadian app Legend Tracker put out a request for videos of Bigfoot and his mythical brethren. The legend continues … though if that’s a hoax, it’s a good one. You tell us, THGers … Bigfoot: Real or fake? Real! Fake! View Poll »
The Rockets signed Dwight Howard this offseason. But now they must deal with Terrence Jones. According to KATU, the second-year forward out of Kentucky was arrested Wednesday morning after a police sergeant witnessed him leaving a bar in Portland. Officials say the athlete was seen strolling by two homeless men and stomping down on one’s leg after yelling at him to “wake up!” The victim only suffered minor injuries and did not require extensive medical attention. Jones, a Portland native, was charged with harassment and pleaded not guilty during a court appearance yesterday afternoon. He is now free on $1,500 bond and is due in court again on September 6. In 19 regular-season games with Houston as a rookie in 2012, Jones averaged 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14.5 minutes.
Sorry, Kim Kardashian . Your ex beat you to parenthood. Sources confirm that Reggie Bush is the proud new father of a baby girl born, as Lilit Avagyan gave birth to the couple’s first child Monday. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 9 ounces. These two have been together for about 18 months and announced Avagyan’s expecting state in October. Bush, of course, dated Kardashian for many years before she married Kris Humphries and then got knocked up by Kanye West . He signed a four-year deal with the Detroit Lions this offseason and appears to have moved fully on from the reality star. Except that Avagyan does sort of look like her. Either way, hey: congratulations Reggie and Lilit!
The Tim Tebow era is over in New York. Following a tumultuous season that saw him make far more noise off the field than on, this former Heisman Trophy winner has been released by the Jets. “We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” coach Rex Ryan said. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped.” “Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.” The Jets took Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL Draft Friday, clearing the way for some kind of quarterback move. Tebow finished the 2012 campaign with eight pass attempts, six completions, 32 rushes for 102 yards and zero touchdowns. As for Tebow’s future? It may be in the Arena League . It may be on the big screen . But it will most definitely not be as a member of the Jets, an organization in complete disarray heading into the 2013 season. And for that, Tebow should truly give thanks. He really may be blessed after all.

Say what you want to about Lebron and his “decision” but when he gets it goin’ there’s not a lot anybody can do to stop him. ORLANDO, Fla. — In the days leading up to Miami’s third matchup of the season with Southeast Division-rival Orlando, LeBron James stressed that even at barely the midpoint of the season there was high importance for Thursday night’s game. And James played like it, pouring in 51 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists — including a 23-point first quarter — to lead Miami to a 104-100 victory. It was a season high for James, whose scoring effort tied for the fifth most points of his career. Dwyane Wade added 15 points and Chris Bosh 13. The victory was the Heat’s fourth straight. The Magic lost for the fourth time in their last six and fell behind 2-1 in the season series with Miami. “Just playing this team got me going,” said James, who hit his first 11 shots of the night. “We understand that it wasn’t just any regular-season game. There were a lot of things said about us in the offseason that came from this organization. So we just wanted to come in here and play to our abilities and make a statement.” It was definitely an impressive effort, but near the end of the game Miami lost focus and let the Magic back into it. The Heat are gonna have to tighten up in the 4th quarter if they plan on going deep into the playoffs. Source
