Azealia Banks Will Silence Hip-Hop Critics With Styles P Feature

“When I bust out with that Styles P record, ya’ll not gonna call me fake,” Banks tells MTV News days before she ‘quits rapping.’ By Nadeska Alexis Azealia Banks Photo: MTV News Is Azealia Banks really saying goodbye to her rap career? Earlier this week, the Harlem native deleted her Twitter account and announced that she will now focus on being a ‘vocalist’ instead of a rapper . But just last week she told MTV News that her upcoming Fantasea mixtape would be heavy on hip-hop, with a major feature from Styles P. Banks announced her resignation from rap via a new Tumblr account, writing, “No longer wishing to be a rapper. i never was. … and as soon as i started paying attention to bullsh– urban media, i started getting myself in trouble. From now on i’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the ‘rap game’ … or whatever the f— that means.” Oddly enough, the new proclamation comes just days after Banks revealed to MTV News that Fantasea, slated for a July debut, will include a feature from Styles P that she was thrilled to get. “It’s gonna be hip-hop, there’s a lot of hip-hop on it,” Banks said of the mixtape. “I have a track with Styles P on there, which I’m really excited about because Styles killed it, killed it, killed it.” “It’s so New York and it’s so raw and it’s so just … everything that needs to be said,” she added, going on to address the criticism she’s received from the hip-hop community so far. “I’m that rap girl who’s out here and doesn’t have another rapper behind her, but she’s got all this mouth and she’s all over the place. So [this collaboration] was cool for me [because I’m like] ‘What ya’ll gonna say now, when I bust out with that Styles P record?’ Ya’ll not gon’ call me fake and make fun of me for having one song. Yeah, I make lil dance music and ya’ll got jokes, whatever — watch when I come out with the Styles P record.” Banks hasn’t been too warmly received by all urban media, but some of that has to do with her reputation for taking open shots at artists like Grand Hustle’s Iggy Azalea — a rap girl who does have another rapper behind her — and by association, veteran T.I. So despite Banks’ claim that she will quit rapping, there will still be hip-hop on Fantasea, and she even admitted that she’s hoping for more rap features outside of Styles P. “Schedules are weird and with as much as I have going on, it’s hard, but I like to really collaborate,” she said. “When I’m collaborating with someone I want us to be in the same room and feed off each other. I don’t wanna just send you the track.” One thing we do know is when it comes to Banks’ outspoken nature, nothing much is going to change. “Rap dudes, keep talking sh– and I’ma keep popping sh–,” she said. “I’m just reactive and I say what I have to say and I keep it moving. … It’s not going to change.” Do you think Azealia Banks is really done with rap? Flaming Lips Insist Oklahoma City Thunder ‘Will Win’ NBA Championship

Wayne Coyne talks to MTV News about recording ‘Thunder Up!’ for his hometown team as they prepare to take on Heat. By James Montgomery James Montgomery and Wayne Coyne Photo: MTV News Last month, before his epic war of words with Erykah Badu and after his hometown Oklahoma City Thunder fell behind 2-0 in their Western Conference Finals matchup with the seemingly unstoppable San Antonio Spurs, Flaming Lips’ mastermind Wayne Coyne was still upbeat. And not about Badu. No, despite the (then) overwhelming odds against them, Coyne was confident that the Thunder would not only rally to defeat the Spurs, but would go on to win the NBA championship. In fact, “confident” was probably an understatement. “Of course, what do you mean ‘Can they win?’ ” he responded to MTV News when we asked about the Thunder’s chances of taking home the NBA crown. “They will win.” And we all know how things turned out. The Thunder staged a Lazarus-like comeback against the Spurs — who had been riding a 20-game winning streak — and won the series in six games. Now, it’s on to the NBA Finals, where they’ll face off against the playoff-tested Miami Heat and their trio of stars: LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Game one of the Finals tips off Tuesday night (June 12) in Oklahoma City. Can the Thunder’s epic run culminate in the NBA championship? Well, we know what Coyne thinks … and he’s not alone. He and the Lips recently re-recorded one of their signature songs — “Race for the Prize,” off 1999’s The Soft Bulletin — as an anthem for the team, a rousing version dubbed “Thunder Up! Racing for the Prize,” with the same crashing drums and keening synths of the original, but sees Coyne changing the lyrics to reflect his admiration for the squad. “Theirs is to win/ We win with them/ They’ll keep fighting for Oklahoma!” he sings, while the shouted refrain of “Thunder Up!” is repeated in the background. The whole thing ends, appropriately enough, with a booming thunderclap of electronic noise. It’s not known whether “Thunder Up!” will be played in Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Arena during game one of the Finals, but Lips multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd has certainly been doing his part to make it happen: He’s tweeted the track to Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, encouraging him to share it with all his “OKC Thunder bros.” Like most of the city, Drozd’s wrapped up in the thrill of the NBA Finals, noting , “There’s already extra traffic and excitement in the air at OKC airport.” Related Artists The Flaming Lips

14-Year-Old Host Of Political Radio Show Says “Obama Is Making Kids Gay” [Video]

And we thought kids were more open-minded than adults. But it turns out there’s one young politically minded teen who isn’t so keen on Obama’s recent show of support to same-sex marriage . 14-Year-Old Internet Radio Host Caiden Cowger Declares “Obama Is Making Kids Gay A vehemently anti-gay radio show host is making headlines with his latest proclamation that Obama is “making kids gay” — and he’s only 14 years old. Caiden Cowger of West Virginia hosts the “Caiden Cowger” Internet radio show twice a week, where he gabs about his staunchly conservative political beliefs. During one of his recent broadcasts, which are syndicated by Spreaker Web Radio, the teen explains how he is “sickened” by watching some of his friends “turn to” homosexuality, which he says the Obama administration encourages. “They are encouraging kids to think, ‘Well, you know what? They’re talking about being a homosexual and they’re saying there’s nothing wrong with being gay, so you know what, I think I might try that out for a little bit,” Cowger says. “That is what’s going on!” The teen adds that the President should be urging young people to turn away from homosexuality, “a perverted belief.” Cowger added that he doesn’t believe in bullying his gay peers, but that the definition of bullying has been skewed. “When you’re trying to teach them the word of God and they consider that bullying … I find that a big problem, not being allowed to convert other people to my religion,” he said. On his show, the teen has interviewed former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain and John Raese, a Republican running to represent West Virginia in the U.S. Senate. Cowger identifies himself as a Pentecostal Christian on his Facebook page, where he also names Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck as role models. In March, Cowger announced he is writing a book, “Restoring America.” SMH man… We’d say this kid is a future wankster, but we’re pretty sure his classmates would tell us he already is one! There’s got to be better role models out there for teens than Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck to look up to. Source

Congratulations!! The Oklahoma City Thunder Are Headed To The NBA Finals After Defeating The San Antonio Spurs In Game 6!

Winning! The Oklahoma City Thunder Will Represent The Western Conference In The NBA Finals Kevin Durant had 34 points and 14 rebounds while playing all of regulation for the first time all season, and the Oklahoma City Thunder claimed a spot in the NBA finals by beating the San Antonio Spurs 107-99 on Wednesday night. Russell Westbrook added 25 points for the Thunder, who trailed Game 6 of the Western Conference finals by 18 in the first half and erased a 15-point halftime deficit before pulling ahead to stay in the fourth. Durant grabbed the final rebound, dribbled the ball across halfcourt and raised his right fist to celebrate with a sold-out crowd. The franchise will play for the NBA title for the first time since 1996, before relocating from Seattle. Tony Parker had 29 points and 12 assists for San Antonio, but only eight of the points and two assists came in the second half. Tim Duncan chipped in 25 points and 14 rebounds, and Stephen Jackson scored 23. Game 1 of the NBA finals will be Tuesday night in Oklahoma City against either Boston or Miami. The Celtics lead that series 3-2 and can earn a trip to the finals with a win at home in Game 6 on Thursday night… Durant celebrated even before the final buzzer, hugging his family seated courtside after a foul was called with 14 seconds remaining. The Thunder became the NBA’s 15th team to come back from an 0-2 deficit in a seven-game series, doing it against a team that had won 20 games in a row. Even if you aren’t a Thunder fan, it’s hard not to root for these young men and what they have accomplished. Images via AP Source Hit the flip side to see the highlights from the big game!

DENIED!!! Did Weezy Get Kicked Out OKC Thunder Arena After Allegedly Slam Dunking In James “Fear The Beard” Harden’s Boo Trina???

Did OKC baller James Harden get Wayne kicked out the Thunderdome for smashing his new boo thang Trina? After Lil Wayne admitted to still wanting to show ex flame Trina “How To Love,” rumors have been circulating that he has been smashing her Slip N Slide cakes to smithereens once again. But time out! Trina has been dating Oklahoma City Thunder player James Harden and when Weezy tried to stop by the arena to catch the playoffs, he got ejected from the game! Via TMZ reports : ‘Lil Wayne is a ‘Lil wrong when he says he was denied entry into tonight’s playoff game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs — fact is, he just didn’t have a ticket. The rapper just tweeted, “Going to go to the Thunder game tonight but was denied by the team to be in their arena. Wow.” But a rep for the OKC Thunder tells TMZ … “We did not deny him,” adding, “His representatives contacted us about court side tickets and we told them we are completely sold out.” The rep says the team has no beef with the ‘Lil one. Thankfully Harden and OKC got the W last night, so we’re sure he wasn’t even thinking about him. Weezy thought he could just walk into the game and sit his greasy dreads and mediocre raps on down countryside. Sorry boo! We imagine Pusha T was somewhere laughing hysterically.

Jay-Z Used Old Subway Signs For New Brooklyn Nets Logo

Black-and-white crest is ‘a throwback to Brooklyn and what we’re about,’ Jay tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Brooklyn Nets’ logo Photo: NBA Jay-Z once fancied himself the black Branch Rickey, the man who broke the athletic color barrier and signed Jackie Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Sure, Hov used poetic license when he spit the line on 2009’s “Brooklyn Go Hard,” but now that Mr. Carter is part of the brain trust that will transplant the NBA’s Nets to his native BK, the God MC has surely changed the game. At the end of April, the Brooklyn Nets unveiled their new logo, a Jigga-approved black-and-white crest, which bucks the flash and pizzazz typical of most NBA logos these days. “I wanted to make it really classic and strong; a throwback to Brooklyn and what we’re about,” Jay told MTV News on Monday after his press conference where he announced his upcoming two-day Made in America music festival in Philadelphia. Since his 1996 debut album ( Reasonable Doubt ) Jay has stood as an ambassador for New York City’s largest borough. Though the music mogul has gone on to acquire life’s finer things, through songs like “Brooklyn’s Finest,” “Where I’m From” and his #1 hit “Empire State of Mind,” Hova has always rapped about the darker side of his hometown as well. The struggle eventually breeds strength and it was the strength that Jay hoped to capture in the new Nets design. “It’s real gritty and we’re not about flash — well, sometimes,” he said with a brief pause. “Just the roots of Brooklyn as this very bold, strong, simple logo” When the NBA’s Seattle Sonics franchise moved to Oklahoma in 2008, the team was rechristened the Oklahoma City Thunder and was branded with a new color-filled logo fit for post-millennium basketball. With this new Nets move, Jay-Z and Nets brass looked to the past in order to ensure the team’s place in the future. Vintage New York transit system signage served as their chief inspiration. “It was really a take off the old subway signs, if you look at the old subway signs they were in black and white. It was that strong, beautiful, iconic black and white,” Jay said. “I wanted to pick something that would stand the test of time and be here forever.” What do you think of the new Brooklyn Nets logo? Video: Kobe Bryant Tried to Kill a Reporter with His Eyes Following Lakers vs. Thunder Game 1

The Los Angeles Lakers were completely and thoroughly embarrassed the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. Nearly everyone had picked the Thunder to win this series, but most figured things would at least be mildly competitive throughout. As you can probably tell by the 119-90 final score – there was nothing competitive about what transpired last night. After the game, Kobe Bryant was understandably… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Opposing Views Discovery Date : 15/05/2012 07:06 Number of articles : 3
