Damn that’s terrible… Father Chokes To Death Hours After Walking His Daughter Down The Aisle At Wedding Via MirrorUK A father choked to death at his daughter’s wedding reception just hours after walking her down the aisle, an inquest heard. Jagan Babwah, 73, beamed with pride as he gave his daughter Camela away during her lavish wedding ceremony at a picturesque castle owned by Jools Holland. But just two hours later the cabbie began choking on a piece of lamb in the post-wedding feast and guests desperately tried to save him with the Heimlich manoeuvre. Despite their efforts Mr Babwah suffered a cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead by paramedics on May 31 this year. Camela bravely decided to continue the wedding in tribute to her much-loved father, which is what she believes he would have wanted. The 160-guest reception and evening party continued – but Camela never heard her proud dad’s wedding speech. One dead daddy don’t stop no wedding reception. She revealed that the hardest point was when she had to open up her father’s wedding card the very next day. “To be honest opening the card was the hardest part,” she said. “I opened it the next day and he had given us some money towards our honeymoon. “We were thinking of going to Mexico but we had to cancel it. “Now I can’t put my wedding cards up because I have so many sympathy cards. “For weeks after I felt like I didn’t want to celebrate. It just didn’t seem right.” Camela is going to have one bittersweet wedding anniversary, R.I.P. Daddy Babwah Image via CLN Continue reading
There’s no happily ever after for this corrupt couple ! These crooks are responsible for swindling $675K from 80 unsuspecting old heads. Via NYPost reports : A Staten Island couple stole the IDs of sickly senior citizens and blew the cash on vacations and courtside sports seats — but they left a trail of evidence on social media that led to their arrests, officials said today. Amanda Zieminski, her fiance Clyde Forteau and three others bilked about $675,000 out of 80 patients to fund their lavish purchases over five years, according to DA Daniel Donovan. Police recovered several jewel-encrusted Rolex watches, a money clip engraved with Forteau’s nickname, patient files and cash during the investigation. Zieminski and Forteau bragged about their spending on Facebook, including how in 2012 he and his brother had better NBA playoff seats than NFL star-turned-accused killer Aaron Hernandez. They also posted about their trip to Disney World, where they got engaged inside Cinderella’s Castle. “Make no mistake, Amanda Zieminski is no Cinderella and Clyde Forteau is far from prince charming,” Donovan said. “However, this story does have a fairy-tale ending — for law enforcement.” Zieminski, who went by the nickname “Meme Zee,” worked as a nurse at South Shore Physicians in Staten Island beginning in 2004. Before she was canned in 2012 for inflating her work hours, she passed along the personal information of patients to Forteau, who refers to himself as “C-Money CEO,” and three other members of the ring, according to the DA, who announced the 64-count indictment a day after their arrest. Donovan expects to collar more suspects in the coming days. Prosecutors slapped the crew with a litany of charges that included fraud, falsifying records and theft, although Forteau was also charged with a hate crime for targeting the elderly. Forteau, an aspiring rapper, withdrew money from ATMs on several occasions wearing the same distinctive clothes, which were later found in the trunk of her car, the DA said. He also told bankers he was a victim of Hurricane Sandy when asked why new debit cards were being sent to the Bronx instead of Staten Island, authorities said. Zieminski, of Staten Island, and Bronx residents Forteau, his brother Jerome “It’z Holly” Forteau and Abdul “Chips” Yousef face between 8 ¹/₃ and 25 years behind bars if convicted, while Bronx-resident Carmen Rivera, who was charged only with identity theft, faces between 2¹/3 and seven years, prosecutors said SMH they know they ain’t isht… Photo Credit: Da Office Continue reading
We hope and pray the jury gets it right this time! It’s been over a year since we first told you about the shooting death of 13-year-old Darius Simmons , but now that the trial of his alleged killer is set to start this week we are hopeful his family will see some justice at last. Via NY Daily News reports : A trial for a 76-year-old man accused of shooting to death his 13-year-old neighbor in front of his mother in Milwaukee is set to begin this week in a polarizing case that some say was misplaced vigilante justice. A national field director for Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition said in Wisconsin last year that the shooting of Darius Simmons, 13, was “vigilantism and rogue police behavior” in a similar vein to the killing in Florida of Trayvon Martin, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. George Zimmerman was acquitted in that case over the weekend. Both cases involved an older man allegedly killing a black teen the shooter believed was suspicious. In Milwaukee, police say John Henry Spooner shot Simmons, his next door neighbor, last May after accusing the boy of stealing $3,000 worth of guns from his home. The teen, who had lived with his mother next door to Spooner for only a month, was taking out the trash around 10:00 a.m. when Spooner accused the boy of the theft and demanded he return the shotguns. The boy told Spooner he had not stolen the guns and his mother, Patricia Larry, told the elderly man to go back inside. Spooner then pulled out a handgun and shot Simmons in the chest from only five feet away, killing the boy. “I condemn in the strongest words possible the murder of Darius Simmons,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said after the shooting. “To have a boy who’s taking out the garbage at 10:30 in the morning murdered should shock the conscience of the state.” Spooner allegedly told arriving officers “Yeah, I shot him.” The elderly man allegedly complained to a local politician about being frustrated over the police response to his report of the theft. He’d been burglarized in the past, the Sentinel reported. The man was described as a good neighbor, but in December, 2006, police seized 16 guns from his home after he was accused of hosting a felon at his residence. The eight rifles, four shotguns and four handguns were later returned to Spooner. He allegedly shot Simmons on May 31, 2012, in front of at least two witnesses. The trial has been twice delayed and was scheduled to begin Monday. His defense plans to claim Spooner is not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. If convicted of first-degree intentional homicide, Spooner faces life in prison. “My son, Darius Simmons, was shot and killed in front of me,” Larry, his mother, told the Sentinel in May after the trial was delayed for a second time. “It’s affected me, my friends, my work.” At least in this case there are eyewitnesses and a confession. What kind of ain’t isht daughter does this to her elderly daddy? Via NY Daily News reports : John Potter, a 92-year-old Army veteran who served during World War II, had raised enough cash to buy the house he’s lived in for almost six decades — or otherwise face eviction. But the modest single-story dwelling will remain in the hands of its owner — Potter’s own daughter — after she rejected his offer last week. “It is heartbreaking,” Potter’s granddaughter, Jaclyn Fraley, told the Daily News on Thursday. “He says he’s fought a lot of battles. He’s won some, he’s lost some — but this is one he never thought he’d lose.” Potter faces a June 26 eviction hearing in Vinton County Court, where a judge will order him to vacate the property, said Fraley, who’s siding with her grandpa in the family feud. Potter lives in the small village of Zaleski, about 70 miles south of Columbus — a rural hamlet where the retired train dispatcher once served as mayor and the county sheriff. To leave the home he and his late wife built 56 years ago is unsettling, Fraley said. “My biggest fear is the toll (the eviction) is going to take on him,” she added. “He’s 92, and I think about his health. Getting evicted is stressful enough when you’re healthy.” Fraley launched an online campign on GoFundMe.com in April, sharing her grandfather’s story and how he needed to raise at least $125,000 to try and buy the home from his daughter, Janice Cottrill. Although Potter had long owned the home, Cottrill took ownership of it 2004, when she used a power of attorney to transfer it under her name. Potter had gotten sick at the time, and Fraley claims her mom made the transfer without his consent. He only learned in 2010 that he no longer owned the home after his daughter tried to have him declared legally incompetent and moved to a nursing home, Fraley said. Meanwhile, bad blood was brewing between Potter and Cottrill when she took custody of her older brother, Joe, who is autistic and had been living with Potter. The father and daughter were arguing over visitation rights. Potter fought in court to have the deed transfer reversed — but he lost because the four-year statute of limitations in the case had expired. Finally, in January, Cottrill filed an eviction notice against Potter, and made it known she and her husband were interested in selling the house. Fraley started an online campaign on his behalf, trying to raise money that could be offered to Cottrill for the home. Cottrill’s husband, Dean, previously said they would drop the eviction if Potter left his son alone and stopped the lawsuits. Through the Go Fund Me campaign, Potter raised an astounding $139,603 in two months. But instead of rushing to offer the entire amount to Cottrill, Fraley said, Potter had a market appraisal done of the home. Its value was pegged at only $47,000, plus $2,830 for the land. When they made their official offer, Cottrill instead counteroffered $85,000 plus attorney and eviction process fees. Potter decided last week to increase his offer to $60,005.23 But Cottrill and her husband declined to bite. “He will be evicted,” Fraley said of her grandfather. “The judge has no choice. His hands are tied.” There is a silver lining at least: The money raised through Go Fund Me will be enough for Potter to find a new house or help remodel his caretaker’s home so that he can move in there, Fraley said. “Some people who donated were adamant that they didn’t want (Cottrill) to get the money anyway. They said, ‘Don’t give them this money. Go buy grandpa another house!’” Fraley added. Potter has been sharing his thoughts on videos posted to YouTube, and has thanked the anonymous donors for their generosity. Fraley said she plans to record another video this weekend. He celebrated his 92nd birthday a month ago. “We’re trying to move forward,” Fraley said, “and just hold our heads up high.” Thank God this guy has his granddaughter to help him out. We hope he finds a great home to move to. Shame on his daughter. God will deal with her sooner or later though and you know karma ain’t no joke! Photo Credit: John Potter Continue reading
