A 15-year-old was sentenced to 85 years in prison for killing and sexually assaulting his teacher at a Maryland youth facility, MyFoxDC reported. Brian Wonsom pleaded guilty on Friday to killing his teacher Hannah Wheeling with a cinder block when he was 13. “It’s a tremendous tragedy,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said. “And there’s no answer for why a 13-year-old boy is capable, would be capable, of killing and raping in the manner that he did, but we are now satisfied that we have removed the threat from our community. It is sad on so many levels.” Court records show that Wonsom also pleaded guilty to a second violent attack that originally was not made public. Wonsom was being held at Cheltenham Youth Facility, which serves youth awaiting trial or court disposition, after his mother found stolen items in his possession. Wheeling’s bloody body was found outside a cottage on February 18, 2010. Additional evidence, including a bloody sweatshirt with matching DNA to the victim, was found by state police investigators under a stairwell. The name inside the sweatshirt read “Brian Wonsom, ” the report said. DNA matching Wonsom was found on a lanyard that was used in the attack. Prosecutors believe Wonsom is a sociopath who would need decades of intensive therapy before anyone would think it was prudent to allow him to walk the streets again, the report said. In court Friday, prosecutors showed evidence of the teen trying to kill another woman before attacking his teacher at the facility in 2010. The boy is also a prime suspect in an attempted murder case. Prosecutors say the 13-year-old entered a woman’s apartment through an unlocked sliding glass door and stabbed her several times before she screamed and he ran off. Investigators connected Wonsom to the crime through fingerprints found on a knife, MyFoxDC reported. Prosecutors say doctors who examined the teen found him to be sane, but wicked. “Oh yeah, completely without being mentally ill,” Prosecutor Wes Adams said. “He exhibited no remorse, childhood onset anti-social personality disorder. That’s not criminally insane, that’s dangerous.” Why he chose to attack Wheeling is still unclear. Since there is parole in Maryland, Wonsom will be eligible to apply in his mid-to-late 50s. This is still happening , NYC? Police shot and killed an armed man whose girlfriend said had gone outside in his pajamas to check on a possible break-in at his Brooklyn home Thursday night. Dwayne Browne, 27, was shot once in the chest about 10:40 p.m. outside 943 Schenck Ave. in East New York and died at Brookdale Hospital at 11:46 p.m., police said. “The officers told me they had to shoot him,” said his girlfriend, who gave only her first name, Juanita. “They kept calling him the shooter. The officer said, ‘I’m sorry. It was one of us. But he wouldn’t put the gun down.’” Juanita said she hadn’t seen him with a gun. But Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne, the NYPD’s top spokesman, said a firearm was recovered at the scene. A police source said Dwayne Browne was shot by an officer who responded to a scuffle outside the two-family home. The source said the scuffle involved two men trying to force a third person through the front door. City Councilman Charles Barron (D-Brooklyn), who said he was briefed by police, said a woman who witnessed that confrontation called 911 and later told cops the duo ran away as officers were arriving. Juanita said she and Browne were watching “The Resident,” a thriller, when they heard noises outside. “He looked through the blinds before he went downstairs,” she said. “He said he saw two people running away. It sounded like someone was trying to break in. He went downstairs to check it out. I heard one gunshot. “He came back upstairs and he was bleeding,” she said. “He looked at me and said, ‘Baby, I’ve been shot.’” At that point, Juanita said, cops rushed into the apartment and one officer pointed a gun at her head and refused to help Browne. “His chest was moving up and down,” she remembered. “He was fighting for his life. “They wouldn’t help him.” Shoot first, ask questions last, huh? Planted evidence, no charges on trooper and the UPD under fire: The Utica Police Department is coming under a ton of scrutiny and outrage throughout the community the past few days. On social networks, the outrage has become viral. First, the Utica Phoenix reported on an ongoing case involving a videotape that appearently shows a UPD officer planting evidence during a veichle stop back in February. The tape was brought to the NAACP and then brought to the attention of UPD and the FBI. One of the officers involved, Officer Holt, is the son-in-law of newly elected Mayor Robert Palmieri. UPD says they’re conducting an internal investigation. Considering the relation, Palmieri needs to get out in front of this and demand that the F.B.I. takeover the investigation in order to avoid any perception of preferential treatment. Now the community is up in arms about a recent case in which a NYS Trooper, Jesse Miller, allegedly kicked in a couple’s door in the middle of the night and attacked the occupants. The resident, who was sent to the hospital, say he didn’t know the individual and reports indicate that he did call 911 while Miller was “pounding on his door”. Before police arrived, Miller kicked in the door and attacked the resident. The resident responded in self defense by hitting Miller with a hammer. However, UPD has yet to file charges and claims to be treating the trooper like any other individual. Interesting considering the hawkish intensity in which the UPD posts mugshots on their facebook page of anyone arrested on the slightest of charges. For example, you can find mugshots of people who have been arrested for stealing lipstick. The way in which these cases are being handled is once again raising tensions in the community about the perceived corruption that’s been systemic in Utica over the decades. The planted evidence video harkens back memories to the Walter Washington case a few years ago. In that case, Washington was shot dead by the UPD after allegedly pulling a gun on officers, which was later learned to be a BB gun. However, it has been maintained by eye witnesses and those close to the incident that Washington never had possession of the gun, and that it was seen being pulled out of a police cruiser’s trunk and planted beside Washington after he was killed. Whether these allegations are true or not, the UPD and local elected officials aren’t helping the situation with their lack of urgency to respond to the public’s questions. Hopefully the FBI will come in and do a full investigation of UPD practices over the years. Hope he enjoyed that wiener because when he gets to jail…nevermind. Charles Nowden, a 48-year old man from Mansfield, Texas, took a trip to the movies that he will never forget. Nowden now faces up to 80 years in prison for passing on a counterfeit $20 bill to buy a hotdog and some popcorn during his trip to the movies. Nowden had another $120 in counterfeit bills with him, which authorities say was part of a series of crimes he has committed over the last 20 years. “Charles Nowden was a career cargo-thief who needed to be brought to justice,” Assistant District Attorney Dawn Ferguson, said in a statement. “The auto theft task force and the district attorney’s office are pleased to see that his lifetime of stealing is over.” Nowden has been convicted, and the judge now has to decide the scope of his punishment. He faces up to life in prison because he has prior convictions and two pending felony theft cases. He will be eligible for parole in 15 years. Nowden claims that the bills were given to him at a local gas station when he got change for a $100 bill. He feels that the pending theft cases from 2007 and an arrest back in July made him a target for authorities seeking to get him on anything. “This has been going on for four years. They would never take me to trial. They were harassing me. They were harassing my family. People I care about wouldn’t come around any more because they were harassing them.” We get that he did something wrong, but 80 years?! And Lindsay Lohan can’t even force her way into jail.
