Flickedup.com: “Justin Bieber:Never say never”

The teen pop star with the trademark mop top wants to take over the world. Justin Bieber’s latest project is, at the movies. Will you catch the Bieber fever ? Brett Martin here in the flickedup virtual theater, thanks for watching. I have never been a big fan of teen pop. Monkees, David Cassidy, Leif Garret, Donny Osmond,Jonas Brothers, and Miley Cyrus… I am not of fan of any of them, from any era. This Justin Beiber kid, with his film Justin Beiber:Never Say Never is a cut above other teen pop stars. Musically I am not a fan but this film does hold up a mirror to our society that is obviously in the midst of a pre-teen genuine youthquake. Basically Never Say Never is a concert movie packed with home videos and audition tapes. The interviews with his entourage of helpers makes this quite an interesting “behind the music” film. Even the most cynical of you out there may end up being Beiber believers after seeing this film. He comes from a humble background, he has strong family ties and a dedicated Christian faith. He is the first pop star to become famous via Youtube and he is not a biproduct of the Disney/Nicholodeon teeny pop factory. This movie, though its not for everyone, is a film that everyone can see. Some people in your family may enjoy it more than others and that, in my opinion, is worth the price of admission. This energetic portrait of the global superstar as a normal teenager from small-town in Canada, works. The Flick-o-meter gives Justin Beiber: Never say Never a four out of five. It runs about 15 minutes too long but really, when its the true story about a kid who never gave up on his dreams, who cares how long it is, right ? Brett Favre to Go Dancing With the Stars?

Jenn Sterger and NFL fans everywhere have seen as much of Brett Favre as they can stomach, but the man has many fans and know how to spark debate. That’s why one fellow Dancing With the Stars alum and NFL MVP would love to see him follow in his footsteps and shake his booty on the hit show this year. Preferably without sexting pics of his junk during rehearsal. “Let me think on what old retired NFL guy should join the show,” Kurt Warner told PopEater . “Brett Favre. That’s a good idea. Controversy is good for ratings.” Kurt, who made it within one episode of the finals in his appearance, previously criticized Favre for the off-field sexting shenanigans that dented his legacy. “I do think [that] hurt his legacy to some degree,” he said. “I do think people look at him differently now – at least in the short term – than five years ago.” A turn on DWTS could help restore his image … but he’d have to be given a chance first, which a show source says has no chance in hell of happening. “No way would [ DWTS ] want any part of Brett,” the source said. “They love having colorful people but you have to remember this is a family show and not the right fit for someone accused of e-mailing private photos of himself to young ladies.” Sums it up well. Jenn Sterger might work, though. Wowza.

What was the Best Commercial of Super Bowl XLV?

Christina Aguilera flubbed, the Black Eyes Peas lit up and, somewhere along the way, Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. But in the minds of many viewers, Super Bowl XLV was all about what happened in between these events. Namely, the commercials. From Eminem returning home to a mini version of Darth Vader using his Force, car companies came up with the most creative advertisements. In our opinion, at least. What’s yours? Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ Gets Remixed

DJs and producers have begun putting their spin on Spears’ banging single. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Todd Williamson/WireImage It didn’t take long for the club scene to put their spin on Britney Spears’ single “Hold It Against Me.” In the weeks since the pop star released the hard-pounding dance cut, DJs and producers have begun work on making sure it bangs the club even harder. A few days ago, house legend Paul Oakenfold revealed on Twitter that he was putting together a “HIAM” remix, tweeting , “I’m in the studio working on Britney Spears remix its going well.” Oakenfold previously remixed Spears’ “Gimme More.” While fans have yet to hear how Oakenfold plays with “Hold It Against Me,” electropop act Robots With Rayguns already have released their own, space-aged rendition on the tune. Their version combines ’80s-inspired synths, robot noises and sparse beats, while keeping Spears’ vocals at the forefront of the track. It sounds like Kylie Minogue’s version of dance pop, playing up Spears’ sex-kitten image. DJ Mike Rizzo has offered up his own take on “Hold It Against Me,” subtitled “Funk Generation Club Mix,” and it goes dark where Robots With Rayguns went light. Playing up the song’s already-heavy electro and house groove, this remix sounds like it would be right at home at any given dance party, with its lopped vocals, sirens and thumping beat. The dance community has been vocal about their support of “Hold It Against Me.” “The more the stuff that is underground becomes mainstream, the more the underground is gonna change,” Skrillex told MTV News with regard to the Dr. Luke/ Max Martin-produced tune. “I think it’s gonna inspire people to obviously do something different. “I thought the track was great overall,” he added. “I’ll be honest, man: I love Max Martin. I think he’s an absolute genius. And Dr. Luke did it, right? I think they are a f—ing dream team. I love the track!” Meanwhile, super-producer David Guetta says he’s all for the track and Spears’ further journey down the dance rabbit hole. “My favorite part is that dub step break. I think that’s really cool,” he explained to MTV News. “It’s like the beat is really simple and you’re like, ‘OK,’ and then there’s this huge chorus it’s like, ‘OK,’ but then when they come with that dub step break … It gives a totally different approach to the record. I love this. It’s surprising. It’s a big record.” What do you think of Britney’s “Hold It Against Me” and the remix tracks that you’ve heard? Share your opinion in the comments. Melissa Etheridge Set To Star In ‘American Idiot’ Musical

Rocker will replace Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong as St. Jimmy in the hit Broadway show for one week next month. By Jocelyn Vena Melissa Etheridge Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty Images Melissa Etheridge will put a gender-bending spin on the lead role in the Broadway hit “American Idiot” when she joins the show for a one-week engagement beginning February 1. The singer will take the place of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who currently is tackling the part of St. Jimmy. “Billie Joe and I always believed that it would be incredible to have a woman take on the role of St. Jimmy. This character is seductive, thrilling and dangerous. Melissa Etheridge is all that and so much more,” the show’s Tony Award-winning director, Michael Mayer, said about the casting decision to BroadwayWorld.com . “She’s a rock icon and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she’s bringing her immense talent to ‘American Idiot.’ ” The Green Day singer just kicked off a 50-performance run of dates in the show earlier this month. Right now the schedule for upcoming “American Idiot” performances is as follows: Armstrong for the remainder of January, Etheridge for February 1–6 and Armstrong again for February 10–27. The actor who originated the part on Broadway, Tony Vincent, ended his run as St. Jimmy on December 30. Armstrong previously appeared in eight performances of the stage show in September 2010. During that stretch, ticket sales grew to more than $1 million; last week’s grosses for “American Idiot” were around $600,000. The musical is based on Green Day’s smash 2004 album of the same name. When “American Idiot” opened in April 2010, Armstrong talked with MTV News about the show and the recording. “I think, politically, American Idiot , when we were writing it, it was trying to make sense out of a big mess,” he explained. “You’re trying to find something to believe in, but it’s difficult when you’re getting bombarded with useless information. So it’s just [about] trying to find your identity and your individualism in the midst of all that.” Would you be excited to see Melissa Etheridge star in “American Idiot”? Hayley Williams Posts Demo Of New Song, ‘In The Mourning’

‘I don’t want people thinking it’s a new Paramore song. This is just something I wrote for fun,’ the singer says in a blog post. By James Montgomery Hayley Williams Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images Last week, during Paramore’s “Last Word” interview with MTV News, Hayley Williams promised fans that the band would “definitely” be releasing new music in 2011 … and, it looks like she meant it. Well, sort of. On Tuesday, Williams took to her blog to post the chorus of a song called “In the Mourning,” a winsome, windswept thing that, while new — and actually pretty great — probably won’t be showing up on a Paramore album anytime soon. “A few weeks ago I posted some new lyrics up on Tumblr. Wanted to share the melody with anyone who’s asked me to post it,” Williams wrote on her blog. “This is just the chorus … I didn’t want to post the full thing yet because I don’t want people thinking it’s a new Paramore song. This is just something I wrote for fun. Hope you likes!” Williams did post the lyrics to “In the Mourning” a few weeks prior, and at the time, fans were speculating that they might be related to one of the new demos guitarist Taylor York had written for the group. Now, it doesn’t sound like that’s the case, although Williams and Paramore’s other remaining members — York and bassist Jeremy Davis — are apparently still writing and demoing new material . Late last month, just days after it was announced that founding Paramore members Josh and Zac Farro would be leaving the band, Zac posted a demo by his new project, Tunnel . In February, Paramore will launch a South American tour — their first since the Farro brothers’ departure — with York’s brother Justin filling in on guitar and veteran stickman Josh Freese on drums. ‘Jersey Shore’ New Season: Burning Questions We Want Answered

From Deena drama to the duck phone, here are five things we hope to clear up when the show returns on Thursday. By Eric Ditzian The new cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: Josh Kessler Previously, on “Jersey Shore” : Snooki, the Situation and the rest of the roomies survived a GTL-filled tear through Miami Beach — motor-boating Jell-O shot girls at night, serving up gelato flavors in the bleary morning — and packed up to head back to Seaside Heights. They brought plenty of baggage with them. When “Jersey Shore” picks up again on Thursday with the premiere of the show’s new season, there will be many lingering questions left over from the reality stars’ time down south. Before this season’s final fist-pump, here are five questions we hope to have answered: Will Sammi and Ronnie Make It Work? The drama between these two lovebirds — by turns crabbily thin-skinned and candidly raw — has provided the show with much of its dramatic energy for two seasons. Sam and Ron ended the second season just as they ended the first: together and in love. But the up-and-down pair is as addicted to relationship conflict as they are to maintaining their tans. No doubt they’ll engage in some (irrational) brawling. Whether they’ll survive a summer of Shore temptation remains to be seen.
