Time for the Sandusky skeletons to come on out the closet Oprah Winfrey Interviews Jerry Sandusky’s Son Matthew About Sex Abuse Via RadarOnline Jerry Sandusky’s adopted son Matthew details the horrific sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of the Penn State University defensive coach-turned-convicted serial molester in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah Prime, and we’ve got a sneak peek at the jarring discussion right here on RadarOnline.com. “At bedtime, his ritual began,” Matthew told Winfrey in a preview clip of the interview, which comes more than two years after the coach was found guilty on 45 counts of child sexual abuse in connection with the molestation of 10 children (a group that doesn’t include Matthew), beginning in the early 90s. “At bedtime,” he tells Oprah, “his ritual began.” In the chat with Oprah, Matthew opens up about the way his adopted father Jerry groomed him for the abuse, and eventually began the horrific actions some say came to define the once-vaunted Penn State football coach, as well as his silent superior, Joe Paterno. As we previously reported, Matthew — who stepped up during the legal proceedings, admitting that he too was a victim — said he nearly killed himself out of the despair and grief associated with the longtime abuse. In the chat, Matthew also addresses claims made by his adopted mother Dottie decrying his claims, saying he was motivated by money. The interview will air live on OWN on July 17th at 9pm EST. Tina Turner Recovering From Stroke, European Publications Report Via RadarOnline : Tina Turner is recovering after suffering a stroke, several German and Dutch publications are reporting. The rock and roll legend reportedly is now improving and her driver, Albert, is quoted as saying “Tina had to cancel her holiday to recover, she has already managed a smile for her partner Erwin Bach.” Last February it was widely reported that the ‘Proud Mary’ singer, 74, had suffered a stroke. Her friend, Oprah Winfrey then tweeted a denial, saying,”Tina had a bad flu weeks ago. She’s recovered. And LIVING life! “ Turner has made her home in Switzerland for several years. She lives there with her much younger German music executive husband, Erwin Bach. A stroke is serious business, and this isn’t the first time we’ve heard whispers of Tina Turner falling so ill. If these reports are true, we certainly wish her good health and a speedy recovery!
Well, that didn’t take long … Michael Sam’s OWN Documentary Postponed Via NYDailyNews Oprah has punted, for now, on a planned documentary series about openly gay NFL draftee Michael Sam. The Oprah Winfrey Network announced Friday it will postpone the untitled documentary, claiming it didn’t want to hurt the fledgling football star’s chances of making it onto the St. Louis Rams. The team drafted Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by the National Football League, last week in a ground-breaking moment for professional sports. Cameramen for the documentary would have followed the former University of Missouri defensive end as he tried to earn a spot on the squad. The show’s air date and the number of episodes were never announced. OWN Network president Erik Logan said postponing the documentary would give “Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team.” “OWN is about elevating and empowering people to achieve their best,” he said in a statement. “It’s clear that we, along with the world, recognize the important opportunity that Michael now has in this moment.” We’re sure there are plenty of folks who are more than happy about this recent development. Oprah Winfrey shared a video of her 1983 audition for a Chicago daytime talk show on the OWN network today. It’s nearly impossible to believe the confident yet soft-spoken young woman in the clip below would go on to become one of the wealthiest and most admired people in America. Oprah Winfrey Audition Tape But even thirty years ago, Oprah had undeniable camera presence. In the audition clip she explains the story behind her first name, noting that even though Oprah is “Harpo” spelled backwards, there are no Marx Brothers fans in her family and her folks didn’t even own a TV. Turns out the moniker that’s now synonymous with media dominance is actually a misspelling of an obscure biblical name. Who knew! In introducing the clip, Oprah says she was “obsessed” with landing the hosting gig in Chicago and “stayed up all night” editing clips from her previous TV jobs to show to producers. Amazingly, Queen O says she was forced to pull the all-nighter because was unorganized in those days and hadn’t previously created a video resume like most of her colleagues. Well, it certainly seems like she’s got her stuff together these days. Maybe there’s hope for the rest of us after all!
