Alcohol Ed. Coordinator: Lindsay Lohan Rules!

Looks like Lindsay Lohan is in compliance with her alcohol education course … at least according to a letter sent by program officials to the judge in her DUI case. According to the letter sent by Right On Programs, Lindsay “attends regularly and consistently” and “is positive and receptive to ideas regarding lifestyle changes.” The program wrote the letter , despite the fact that Lindsay has only attended 10 of the required 13 classes, with the deadline of May 20 (tomorrow) looming. Nor does the program make any mention of the “lifestyle choices” Lindsay has made in the last few months … falling into cacti, throwing drinks and whatnot. According to the letter, “She has never come [to class] under the influence.” OMG wow, congratulations! You’re not supposed to show up to alcohol ed drunk! The letter notes Lindsay “attends regularly and consistently communicates in a timely manner to reschedule if necessary.” Apparently bribes go a long way in life. The program concludes, “At this time, Lindsay is in program compliance.” There were a few weeks where Lindsay, who is rumored to be dating Indrani , did not attend, but the organization says her absences were all approved in advance. The program is not required to notify the judge unless Lindsay misses 21 straight days. The judge, however, ordered her to attend class at least once every seven . She hasn’t done that by any stretch of the imagination. Not even close, really. But it’s all up to the judge as to whether the train wreck actually pays a price for it. Because Lindsay is not in full compliance, the judge has ordered her to attend Thursday’s court session. How that shakes out is anyone’s guess. (Jail! Jail! Jail!) Daniel Radcliffe’s PSA For LBGT Help Line Debuts

‘If you’re feeling helpless or hopeless, there’s always a safe place to turn,’ he says in the Trevor Project PSA. By Eric Ditzian Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News Earlier this year, MTV News was on hand as “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe recorded a public-service announcement for the Trevor Project , a nonprofit organization focused on crisis support and suicide prevention for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youths. “It’s something I’ve always been quite passionate about,” the British actor explained to us after the shoot. “Because I grew up around gay men, it was always a natural thing to me. It was never something I ever gave a second thought to. … And now I am in a position where I can help an amazing thing like the Trevor Project.” Radcliffe’s charitable effort has now debuted online. “If you’re feeling helpless or hopeless, there’s always a safe place to turn,” he says in the PSA. Anyone can call the organization’s number — (866) 4-U-TREVOR — for free and confidential support. “You can talk to someone 24 hours a day,” the actor says. “There are about 160 people in total who work around the clock, and that number is obviously growing over time. It is an incredible thing,” Radcliffe told MTV News. “I was talking to one of the [volunteers], who said, ‘I hate the fact that this needs to exist.’ But it’s so important that it does.” Founded by the filmmakers of an Oscar-winning short film called “Trevor,” the Trevor Project is the leading national organization dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youths. The group’s prevention hotline and trained counselors have helped save lives and sought to foster safe, inclusive environments for at-risk youth at homes and schools. Their message — and Radcliffe’s — is a simple and powerful one. As the actor says in the PSA: “Be proud of who you are.” What do you think about Radcliffe’s PSA? Share your thoughts in the comments. Lena Horne Funeral Attended By Family, Famous Friends

Vanessa Williams was among mourners at New York memorial service. By James Montgomery Lena Horne’s funeral program Jazz great Lena Horne, who died Sunday at age 92, was remembered by hundreds of mourners at New York’s St. Ignatius Loyola church on Friday (May 14). At the funeral — attended by Vanessa Williams, former Mayor David Dinkins and actress Jenny Lumet — Horne was remembered by those who knew her as a girl from Brooklyn who became a world-renowned singer and actress and, in the process, lent her voice to those oppressed by decades of racism. But she was also so much more. “[She] was so many ideas existing all at the same time, in the same space, and they were all conflicting, and they were all true,” Lumet said, according to reports . “I’ve tried to sum her up and I can’t. … Summing up really means it’s over, and I think she’s not over and that she’s quite infinite.” Horne’s paternal grandparents were early members of the NAACP civil-rights organization, and in a precursor to her lifelong battle on behalf of equal rights, she was the cover girl for the organization’s monthly bulletin in October 1919, when she was just 2 years old. She would go on to sing at Harlem’s legendary Cotton Club, appear in Broadway productions and star in Hollywood films, though she would often refuse to play roles that portrayed blacks in subservient positions, which limited her appearances. By the 1940s, she was the top-earning black performer in Hollywood, playing lucrative nightclub gigs and gaining popularity among black and white G.I.’s during World War II. Horne’s sultry voice would go on to dazzle fans for decades on hits like “My Blue Heaven” and “Stormy Weather.” Upon learning of her death, a whole new generation of artists — including Alicia Keys, Diddy and Monica — remembered Horne as a pioneer and a prodigious talent, one the world would probably never see the likes of again. Flavor Flav, Meat Loaf Team Up For ‘WWE Raw’

Rapper and rocker appeared on show Monday with Randy Orton and R-Truth, the rapping wrestler. By Kyle Anderson Flavor Flav Photo: MTV News Over its long history, professional wrestling has always had a deep connection to the world of music. Cyndi Lauper helped get the WWE on MTV, Alice Cooper appeared in the corner of Jake “The Snake” Roberts at WrestleMania III, and the likes of Snoop Dogg and Jewel have served as recent guest hosts on the organization’s flagship Monday night program “Raw.” And a very odd tag team came together Monday night to share hosting duties, as hip-hop star and reality TV icon Flavor Flav co-hosted the show, live from the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, with epic rocker Meat Loaf . Following an opening promo from WWE star Randy Orton, Meat Loaf came out near the top of the show to remind the wrestler (and the viewing audience) that he has a new album out today called Hang Cool Teddy Bear and wanted one of his new tunes to be Orton’s new entrance music. He sang a few bars a cappella, but for his trouble, Meat received an RKO (a sort of jumping neck-breaker that Orton uses as his finishing move) and spent the remainder of the segment unconscious (or at least giving the illusion that he was — it is wrestling, after all). Flav had a slightly better night. He was introduced a few segments later at the side of R-Truth, the rapping wrestler. Truth and Flav traded catchphrases (the former’s being “What’s up?” while the latter’s was, of course, “Yeah boy!”). Flav stayed in Truth’s corner while he performed his match with William Regal and unfortunately provided him little support when he was attacked mid-match by the Colon Brothers. Later, Flav had a backstage conversation with wrestlers Santino Marella (a comedic Italian stereotype) and Vladimir Kozlov (an angry Russian stereotype). Santino tried to get Flav and Koslov to get together as a tag team, to which Kozlov wasn’t receptive. They were interrupted by William Regal, who tried to show off his rapping skills by attempting to rhyme about Parliament. Sadly, Meat and Flav never had any sort of overlapping segments, which would have made for delightfully strange television. The surreality continues next week on “Raw” when astronaut, former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant and MTV icon Buzz Aldrin will take the microphone and host the show live from Toronto. Wyclef Jean Paid His Mistress $105,000 Through His Haiti Charity [Employee Relations]

Yele Haiti , the sketchy foundation that Wyclef Jean founded to help the Haitian people —which received millions in the outpouring of generosity following the wake of the earthquake there—paid Jean’s mistress and personal assistant $105,000 in 2008. That’s Zakiya Khatou-Chevassus on the right in the photo above. According to Yele Haiti’s 2008 tax return, which was posted this week by the Smoking Gun , the charity paid Khatou-Chevassus $105,000 as an independent contractor in 2008 for “program development.” That amounts to roughly one-third of all the money Yele spent that year on management and general expenses. So what did she do for that money? Khatou-Chevassus is currently listed on Yele’s web site as the organization’s vice president. But according to four sources familiar with Yele’s operations, in 2008 she served as Jean’s personal assistant—working on his commercial endeavors as well as his charitable ones—and was involved romantically with the former Fugees star. “She worked for Wyclef on all Wyclef matters,” says one source who has worked with Jean in the past. “She did whatever Wyclef needed that day, whether it was related to Yele or not. She would do things like book flights, and she wasn’t very good at it. It’s a shame that she made that much money.” The source said Khatou-Chevassus’ salary amounted to more than three times what Suzie Sylvain, Yele Haiti’s dedicated program director who is credited by many Yele Haiti insiders with actually keeping the organization running, was paid. “Everyone knows they were in a relationship,” says another source familiar with Yele Haiti. “A dozen people, including me, saw and knew. It wasn’t a secret.” Jean is married, but he has said in the past that he has an open relationship with his wife. Jean has a long history of using Yele Haiti’s money for his own commercial gain. In 2005, 2006, and 2007, the foundation paid out a total of $410,000 to commercial entities controlled in whole or in part by Wyclef , including a whopping $250,000 for advertising time on a Haitian television station he co-owns. According to internal financial statements obtained by Gawker in January , Jean didn’t contribute a single dollar to Yele Haiti’s American operation during the year he founded it, and its founding executive director resigned because he “saw hundreds of thousands of dollars going to business needs and nothing going to the charity, when it seemed that part of Wyclef’s new PR strategy focuses on his charitable endeavors.” In 2006, he demanded a $100,000 fee to perform at a Yele Haiti fundraiser designed to raise money for his own hometown. The event was canceled in part because securing Jean’s participation was too expensive. As the Smoking Gun noted, Khatou-Chevassus seems to have done some modeling in the past . The photo on the right above was taken at a 2009 reception she organized in New York for Prince Edward’s International Award Association. (Captions from photographs taken at the event that we found online identify her as the CEO of Carte Blanche International, but we’re almost certain that’s an error. All of the people we spoke to who know Khatou-Chevassus say it’s preposterous that she’d be a credit card executive; we’ve called Carte Blanche to ask.) A call to Khatou-Chevassus and an e-mail to Yele Haiti’s publicist were not immediately returned.

We Follow ‘Hope For Haiti Now’ Donations With World Food Programme

MTV News crew met with WFP’s Louis Hamann to see how food donations are being distributed in Haiti. By Gil Kaufman A victim of the earthquake in Haiti prepares food Photo: MTV News Haiti faces untold challenges as the Caribbean island nation tries to dig out and recover from the devastating 7.0 earthquake that leveled thousands of buildings and killed more than 200,000 in January. In addition to medical attention and shelter in advance of the rainy season, one of the most crucial needs continues to be food aid to the millions of Haitians left homeless in the wake of the disaster. MTV News returned to the island in late February to follow the trail of some of the more than $65 million raised during January’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon . We dropped in on staffers from the 50-year-old United Nations World Food Programme, which delivers life-saving food to victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters across the globe. Even before the quake, conditions were desperate in Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, with poverty and hunger already rampant. But the destruction of so many homes, businesses and government buildings made conditions even more dire for the chronically hungry and impoverished. MTV’s Sway traveled to Haiti to document the work of the WFP, applying stickers to a few 110-pound bags of urgently needed rice to follow their path to hungry Haitians. Surrounded by bags of food in the port of the nation’s devastated capital, Port-au-Prince, WFP’s Louis Hamann said the organization has brought in about 25,000 metric tons of food (around 55 million pounds) to date. “It just gives you an idea of how massive this operation is for us here in Haiti,” he said, noting that the $58 million grant from “Hope for Haiti Now” has helped the organization buy, ship and distribute the food aid to those most in need, possibly for the next year. Rice is an obvious first-choice staple to distribute because it is easy to store, cook and share and a little goes a long way. “The reason that it’s only rice right now is to make sure that we reach everybody quickly and efficiently [and] calm down the food situation in Port-au-Prince,” said Hamann, who added that the plan is to move to a “more traditional basket” of food items featuring staples of the Haitian diet in the next weeks and months. Sway also visited a massive staging area where trucks were loaded up with bags of rice that were delivered early in the morning to the sea of refugees set up in a temporary tent city inside the Sylvio Cator Soccer Stadium near the island’s capital. As the thousands inside the stadium lined up for food aid early in the morning, they were quickly joined by thousands more looking for rice, an example of the more than 3,000 families that line up every day in just one location to haul away the heavy bags. MTV’s crew then followed one of those families as they carried a bag back to their crumpled home, a pile of rubble and twisted metal, where the rice would be cooked over a makeshift carbon stove by widowed mother Myrthile Joseph. “Thank you to everyone that donated for Haiti from all over the world,” said a grateful Joseph. “Thank you for the distribution that is going to the people in need.” Related Videos Making Progress In Haiti

Hollywood actor Sean Penn is being hailed as a hero after personally saving two lives in Haiti, according to US reports. The Milk star reportedly rescued a woman and an orphaned child who were both badly injured in the rubble of a collapsed building. Penn – who runs the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization – was already in the country helping with relief work. According to reports, the star drove for 90 minutes with his daughter Dylan to rescue the woman and child, who were trapped in rubble outside Port-au-Prince, possibly from an aftershock. Kellan Lutz for PETA: Clothed, Pushing for Adoption

Come on, Kellan Lutz. It’s not enough that you have a ridiculous body ? You also need to love animals and pose with puppies more adorable than all the Twilight Saga stars combined? The actor stars in a new PETA campaign. Unfortunately, he isn’t naked, like so many other animal-loving celebrities have been when appearing in ads for this organization. But Lutz still has an important message to send, as the poster below reads: “Buying Animals Is Killing Animals. Save a Homeless Dog or Cat – Always Adopt and Never Buy.” Said the actor: “There are surprisingly so many animals in these animal shelters. It’s sad, and knowing that they get euthanized… and there’s a lot you can do… spay or neuter your pets so that doesn’t happen.” Seriously, Kellan. You already have a hard body. Must you match it with a soft heart? Leave some girls for the rest of us, will ya?

John Mayer Receives Support From Charity, Porn Producers

Isaac Foundation blogs in defense of the singer, while Vivid Entertainment offers him a screenwriting gig. By Jocelyn Vena John Mayer Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Last week, John Mayer caused an uproar with controversial, racially charged comments he made in an interview with Playboy magazine . But amid the statements of outrage — and his own apologies — one group is coming to the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter’s defense: the Isaac Foundation , a charity for which Mayer has helped raise money. “I thought I would take to our blog to write a quick defense of John Mayer, someone that I have grown to respect for the kind, caring, and compassionate person that he truly is,” reads a message from Andrew McFadyen, the founder of the organization dedicated to curing MPS VI, a rare, progressive disease in children caused by an enzyme deficiency. Mayer has reportedly worked with the charity since the summer of 2008 and has kept in touch with Isaac McFadyen (the child who inspired the organization) and his family. “I know he has said things that turn people off. I know he’s said things that make him sound like someone you would never want your children around — ever. But I also know the person that he truly is and the good things he tries to accomplish with the celebrity status he’s achieved,” the message on the site reads. “A few minutes ago, I asked Isaac to tell me three words he would use to describe John, and he responded, ‘Nice, Friendable, and Loveable.’ Print that, bloggers, and give John his fair shake.” Mayer invited the 5-year-old Isaac and his family to his show in Toronto on Sunday, which followed his tour kickoff in Detroit on Saturday. After visiting with the McFadyens, the singer broke his self-imposed Twitter hiatus to link to the Isaac Foundation site. “Thank You Toronto,” Mayer tweeted . “Here is my friend Isaac I was telling you about. He made me the Valentine card tonight.” Mayer can also be seen in a video from Sunday’s show thanking Isaac for the Valentine onstage. “Sometimes you get beautiful things out of little, tiny mistakes,” the singer said. Over the weekend, Mayer also got support from another camp: porn production company Vivid Entertainment, which offered him a job penning scripts. “We read about your interest in porn in the current issue of Playboy magazine,” founder/co-chair Steven Hirsch said a letter posted on TMZ.com . “When we learned that you make up backstories in your mind and that your ‘biggest dream is to write pornography,’ we decided we’d like to talk to you about doing just that and possibly directing as well.” According to the New York Daily News, Mayer’s publicist said he wouldn’t be accepting the offer. Do you think John Mayer’s charity work makes up for his big mouth? Should he take Vivid’s offer and quit his day job? Sound off below! Related Artists John Mayer
