Jessica Chastain is riding high with her critically acclaimed Oscar-nominated performance in Zero Dark Thirty , but her next gig may be a bit of an about-face from her role at the center of covert operations to snuff out Bin Laden. Chastain will star in a film adaptation of August Strindberg’s play Miss Julie , which will be directed by Swedish actor-director Liv Ullmann . Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton will also star in the film, according to The Guardian. Written in 1888, Miss Julie helped pave the way in utilizing theatrical naturalism in telling its story of class and power. The story revolves around the daughter of a count who falls for her father’s footman. Originally set at a Swedish country house in 1874, it is unclear if Ullmann will set the movie version of the story there or if she’ll pick a different period and locale. The last major adaptation of the play was a Mike Figgis-directed version which starred Saffron Burrows and Peter Mullan as the leads. Ullmann starred in ten of legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman’s movies and took up directing in the 1992 family drama Sophie . Miss Julie will be her fourth feature, though her last film, Faithless was released in 2000. [Source: The Guardian ]
I don’t know who Jeremy Renner is…but apparently he’s Oscar Nominated and people are talking about how he knocked up some groupie when in canada….only instead of calling her a groupie…who did everything she could to get knocked up by Jeremy Renner in hopes of one day being his divorcee staring on a Real Housewives show….they are calling her a model…and I have a bit of a problem with that….because she has never done any real modeling work…having a photog take half naked shots of you doesn’t make you a model…it makes you every chick on Instagram…seriously…this bitch is more of a cocktail waitress, bar tender, party girl with a uterus and a plan…that probably needs a paternity test… Now I don’t care about who knocks up who…I just know how these girls are…the self labeled model….who end up doing promo jobs at parties and trade shows…wh is no more than just a slut…who fucks anyone with any status who comes to town….I see it all the time and I’m calling her out on it…not that I had to…or really care to…I appreciate her hustle…even if it is obvious… If I was famous, I’d have a vasectomy to avoid this kind of shit…imagine your one night stand leading to dealing with the trash for at least 18 years cuz you have a kid together….the worst…
Super Size Me director Morgan Spurlock will take on a boy band for his next project and rabid fans will get a 3-D view. U.K. group One Direction will be the subject of a film by the Oscar-nominated director in a project that will be produced by X-Factor producer Simon Cowell. One Direction – Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – have had a meteoric rise since they were plucked into notoriety by Cowell’s original British version of X-Factor in 2010. The five-some quickly became one of the competition’s all-time popular acts. They finished in the final three, but more importantly, they amassed a massive fan base. In March 2012, One Direction’s debut album, Up All Night , made a splash stateside, making them the first British group to have a debut album enter the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at number 1. The band has sold over 13 million records worldwide and today the group released their sophomore album, Take Me Home , which includes the hit single, Live While We’re Young . The TriStar Pictures project is set for an August 30, 2013 release, which lands on Labor Day weekend in the U.S. and Canada. Morgan Spurlock, Ben Winston, Simon Cowell, and Adam Milano will produce the film. [Source: Deadline ]
Jennifer Lawrence ….young, Oscar Nominated actress turned, smutty blockbuster chasing actress, cuz that’s where the money is especially since she’s got the rest of her life ahead of her to make the “artistic” films that she’ll garner respect from her peers for…even if good acting doesn’t matter in our shitty…flash in the pan…garbage content filled world…and what matters isn’t quality…but marketing budget…and you know what…she’ll be a far more respectable person…with 100,000,000 dollars in her bank rather than a couple bough trophies anyway…cuz everything in life…is bullshit… Here she is modeling hot for Elle.
Maybe it’s my hairline, but I’ve always been partial to John McClane’s brand of bald (and smirky) heroism. So, it’s good to see my favorite hairless hard-ass Bruce Willis shooting up Russia with his cinematic son Jai Courtney ( Spartacus ) in the latest trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard . I’m not sure how I feel about Courtney as a potential heir to the McClane Yippie Ki Yay legacy. (For one thing, the kid has got way too much hair.) Then again, I’m not going to lose a lot of sleep over this because a Die Hard movie without Willis is not a movie I want to see. No pressure, John McClane Jr., though I give Courtney props for his delivery of the punch line to this mayhem-heavy trailer set to Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.” (I’m not going to spoil the fun. Check it out below.) A Good Day To Die Hard finds Willis’ unflappable former NYC policeman fighting terrorists with his estranged son in Russia. John Moore ( Behind Enemy Lines and Max Payne ) directed the script by Skip Woods ( Hitman ). The film opens on Valentine’s Day 2013, which is pretty savvy logic on distributor 20th Century Fox’s part: A Good Day to Die Hard sounds like it could work as both a cuddly date movie and entertainment for single guys who want a whole bunch of explosions and one-liners to help them forget that they’re incredibly alone in this world. With Skyfall ‘s Daniel Craig seemingly winding down his reign as James Bond, it looks like screenwriter John Logan will be writing off into the sunset alongside him. Deadline reports that the Oscar-nominated Logan ( Gladiator , The Aviator , Hugo ) is writing two connected scripts that will likely see Craig through the last two 007 outings he’s currently signed on for. [ PHOTOS: Prince Charles meets 007 on the Skyfall red carpet ] Like the storylines connecting Casino Royale with the subsequent Quantum of Solace , Bonds 24 and 25 would take Craig through another multiple film dramatic arc, which Bond fans seemed to have loved. And with his Bond increasingly dealing with themes of age and obsolescence, as he does in November’s Skyfall , these two Bond films would presumably see Craig passing the torch to a new agent , or at least closing his chapter of the franchise. Logan, meanwhile, earned his first Bond credit on Skyfall alongside Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. [ Deadline ]
Tim Burton had brought up the idea of Frankenweenie long before he finally was given the go-ahead. Development for the stop motion animated film dates back to late 2005, but didn’t finally come out until recently. He went on to direct Sweeney Todd , Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows before his latest time in the director’s chair. But the hold-off with Frankenweenie begs a follow-up question: What other ideas did the Scissorhands filmmaker ever have that didn’t make it to the big screen? Apparently the answer is Michael Jackson . Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, U.K., Burton, who received an award along with partner Helena Bonham Carter at the recently concluded London Film Festival where Frankenweenie had its European debut, said that he once proposed a pic starring the pop legend who died tragically in 2009. “My favorite one was when I tried to convince the studio to make my idea of a musical version of House Of Wax with Michael Jackson,” said Burton. “It was many years ago but that’s the one that springs to mind.” Though a collaboration between the eccentric Thriller superstar and the off-beat Oscar-nominated filmmaker might have been a journey in filmmaking spectacle, the idea apparently had a quick demise. “They did not go for that one at all,” said Burton. Re-made from a 1953 horror in 2005 starring Paris Hilton, the story follows a group of teens who are stranded near a strange wax museum. They soon begin to fight in a struggle to survive from becoming the exhibit’s newest acquisition. [ Source: Yhaoo! Movies U.K. ]
Those eternal kids from the Peanuts gang will get another turn at the big screen in a project spearheaded by Twentieth Century Fox Animation’s Blue Sky Studios. If all goes according to plan, Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoopy and the posse will hit theaters in 2015 with support from the family of Peanuts’ late creator Charles Schulz. The new film’s release will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the 1965 television special A Charlie Brown Christmas . The November 25, 2015 target is also in line with the 65th anniversary of Peanuts’ debut — talk about eternal youth! Charles Shulz’s son Craig and grandson Bryan will write the screenplay alongside Cornelius Uliano, while Ice Age 4: Continental Drift filmmaker Steve Martino is set to direct, according to The Guardian. Details about plot were not disclosed, though a holiday tie-in would not be a surprise. “We are thrilled to partner with the Schulz family and Iconix and honoured to bring the Peanuts characters to the big screen,” Fox Animation’s Vanessa Morrison said via a statement. “This all started with our love and respect for the work of Charles Schulz. We thank the Schulz family and Iconix for letting Fox and Blue Sky bring his vision to new generations of filmgoers.” Charles Monroe Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip was one of the most popular in the history of the medium, making its first appearance on October 2, 1950. Schulz died in February of 2000 and had said he wished for the strip to end after his death. United Features, which has ownership of the strip has honored that wish, but syndicates re-runs to newspapers. New television specials have since been produced, but they have been based on previous strips. Schulz had also said that he views Peanuts TV shows as entirely separate from the strip.
