In order to catch Stephen Dorff and Nick Swardson during Comic-Con, Movieline had to brave the converted parking lot Camp Playboy, an artificial turf-lined space where dozens of scantily clad Playboy model types (day players, mostly) flitted about during our chat about Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star , in which Swardson plays the world’s unlikeliest porn star. Maria Shriver waited a long time to divorce Arnold Schwarzenegger , but now that she has, she’s not waiting for it to become final to move on. She’s purchased some swanky new digs. The Sperminator’s estranged wife is buying a $10 million home in Brentwood, a posh area of L.A. The home is near the one she shared with Arnold. The couple is determined to keep their divorce amicable, with both Arnold and Maria getting joint custody of their two minor children, both teens. The proximity of the two homes will make shared custody easier. Maria’s purchase has not been finalized yet but reports say it will close soon. Casey Anthony’s release from jail July 13 won’t necessarily mean the end of her legal problems. The accused murderer may be sued in a civil case. Attorney John Morgan, who represents Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, has filed a subpoena to question Casey and served her at Orange County Jail. Gonzalez claims she can’t find work and was ostracized after Anthony told police officials that a woman with the same name kidnapped her daughter. Investigators quickly established that Gonzalez had nothing to do with the case and Casey’s babysitter “Zanny the Nanny” was a total fabrication. Anthony was sentenced to four years in prison for lies to police like that one, but having served almost all of that already, will go free next week. In any case, Gonzalez is seeking $15,000 in damages for damages to her reputation, loss of job, humiliation and distress brought by Anthony. The worst part for Anthony is the possibility of being forced to testify at trial and questioned under oath, which she did not at her murder trial. While Anthony was acquitted of murder, questions potentially asked during a defamation suit against her could prove very difficult to answer. The subpoena demands Anthony appear at Morgan’s Florida office July 19 at 10 a.m. for a deposition, where she will be questioned under oath. Casey is officially broke, but stands to make a fortune from interviews, photographs plus film and book rights , after her sensational acquittal. On the flip side, she owes investigative and court costs associated with earlier check-fraud convictions – and likely a fortune for her murder defense. In short, you haven’t heard the last of her by a longs hot.
Toddlers & Tiaras is the most despicable show on reality television. And, yes, we know: that’s saying a lot! But many believes the TLC series sunk to a new low this week when it featured eight-year old Brock Ritter as a beauty pageant contestant. He’s a boy. The self-described “diva” hails from Michigan and has a mom, Tori, who says she’s simply trying to “nurture” her child. Brock Ritter on Toddlers & Tiaras “I support what his ideas are and what he wants to do because people say you have to open your kids up to opportunities and let them try different things,” Tori told TV Guide. “We’ve both played soccer. We’ve kicked the ball around with him in the back yard and he has no interest in doing that. Defending the spray tan on her son as part of “dress-up,” Tori has this to say about those who criticize child pageants overall: “It would be interesting to take a poll on how many of those people have sat in an audience or have had hands-on experience in a pageant. The third season premiere of Teen Mom may only have earned two points from our critic this week, but it resulted in a record-setting performance for the MTV hit. The episode attracted 3.65 million viewers, making it the most-watched premiere in franchise history. It was also the number-one telecast on TV among women between the ages of 12-34. In other words ( gulp! ): the next generation.
