Katherine Webb on The Today Show: No Apology Necessary!

Katherine Webb, the AJ McCarron girlfriend who has dominated the Internet over the past 48 hours, was a guest this morning on The Today Show . Asked about the praise bestowed upon her by ESPN announcer Brent Musberger, Webb reiterated that she was flattered and said the network never needed to issue an apology. Katherine Webb on The Today Show “I think the media has been really unfair to [Musburger],” Webb told Matt Lauer ,” adding of Musberger gushing over her and McCarron’s mother: “If he would’ve said something along the line that we were hot or sexy or made any derogatory statements like that, I think that would’ve been a little bit different, but the fact that he said that we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don’t see why any woman wouldn’t be flattered by that.” Webb has seen her popularity sky-rocket as a result of her face time on ESPN. Donald Trump wants her to judge the Miss USA Pageant, while a source says Webb hopes to be an actress . Makes sense to us. She’s already starring in the fantasies of men around the nation.

THG Celebrity of the Year: Kristen Stewart!

We’ve arrived at #1. Over the past couple weeks, THG has been counting down the stars that made 2012 such a memorable year, from their sex tapes to their Billboard hits to their nude photos and royal babies. We ranked Kate Middleton at #4, followed by Taylor Swift and then Rihanna at #2 . Who does that leave as our undisputed Celebrity of the Year? KRISTEN STEWART! The actress starred in two blockbusters this year: Snow White and the Huntsman and Breaking Dawn Part 2 . She also established some indie cred via On the Road . But let’s face it: these roles are not the main reason Stewart made so many headlines in 2012. Instead, Kristen’s most buzzed-about accomplishment (perhaps for the rest of her years) will be her affair with Rupert Sanders , a story made for this tabloid age and made even more unprecedented when Stewart actually came out and admitted to the scandal! Her statement and public apology to Robert Pattinson may go down as the year’s most shocking moment. This relationship – previously kept under wraps as much as possible by the duo involved – was suddenly front page news. Would they get back together? What, exactly, happened between Stewart and Sanders? How would it affect the Breaking Dawn box office? In the end, the film fared well and Kristen and Rob appear back together. Other numbers/facts related to Stewart’s big year include: She became the face of Balenciaga perfume in June. She ranked #7 on AskMen’s list of Top 99 Women. She earned $34.5 million, more than any actress over the past 12 months. She was named one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood. Philadelphia to Install Condom Dispensers in High School

Call us crazy, but we think a new Philadelphia high school program may create a bit of controversy. According to ABC News, the city – in response to a new report that cites five percent of its high schoolers have tested positive for STDs – is installing condom dispensers in the 22 schools with the highest rates of these diseases. “We believe distributing condoms is part of our obligation to keep students healthy and to remain healthy,” said school district spokesman Fernando Gallard. “The health department has described this as a continued epidemic of STDs among teenagers in Philadelphia.” Approximately 130,000 high school students in the Philadelphia area have been tested over the past five years, with 6,500 of those coming out positives for STDs that include HIV. As a result, when students return from Christmas break, they will be greeted by machines in the nurse’s office that provide free protection. The condoms will be available to all, unless parents sign an “opt out” form. HOWEVER, the schools do not plan on actually enforcing these forms. “Opt-out letters are to be maintained by the school office,” Assistant Superintendent Dennis W. Creedon wrote. “Students are to honor the wishes of their parents. If a student disrespects their guardian’s directive, that is an issue of the home.” Overall, according to nonprofit organization Advocates for Youth, at least 418 schools across the country supply condoms to their students. David Gregory, Meet the Press Investigated For Gun Display

NBC’s Meet the Press and host David Gregory are being investigated by officials after his display of a high capacity gun magazine on television Sunday. Some reports say Gregory was cleared by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to show the weapon on television (below). Others aren’t so sure. Ironically, Gregory’s display took place during an interview with the NRA President on Meet the Press , in which gun laws and gun safety were debated. If anything, he was making a point about the power and danger of such weapons during a gun control debate of sorts – not flashing it for any other purpose. In fielding NBC’s inquiry about the magazine, an ATF official contacted the D.C. police to find out if the District of Columbia had a law prohibiting such a display. The D.C. police official concluded David could legally show the magazine, provided it was empty, and told the ATF, who gave Meet the Press the green light. However, it appears district police are now conflicted about their own answer. Wayne LaPierre on Meet the Press D.C. police released a statement today, saying “NBC contacted the Metropolitan Police Dept. inquiring if they could utilize a high capacity magazine for this segment.” “NBC was informed that it was not permissible and the request was denied.” Basically, David Gregory is currently being investigated for displaying the magazine, despite apparently trying successfully to have the display cleared. Matt Lauer: Taunted by Viewers, Described as "Miserable"

Count Matt Lauer among those who cannot wait to see the calendar flip to 2013. Over the past few months, Lauer has been blamed for both the ousting of Ann Curry and The Today Show ‘s floundering ratings. Sources even say we may see Matt Lauer fired soon if more viewers don’t tune in to NBC on weekday mornings. With this pressure hanging over him, network insiders tell TMZ Lauer is “miserable” and is facing constant taunting on the streets, as Today fans refer to him as a “bad guy” and throw Curry’s poorly handled departure in his face. Lauer feels “abused,” according to the source, who adds of the harassment: “It’s driving him crazy. He’s so unhappy.” Lauer also denies any involvement in Curry’s firing, but many continues to insist he only signed a new $25 million contract this year because he was told Curry would be a goner. Still, don’t look for Lauer to be going anywhere any time soon. With many believing potential replacement Willie Geist isn’t ready for the job, NBC has no replacement for one of their most recognizable employees. Bruce Springsteen Performs at 12-12-12 Concert, Makes Plea For Sandy Relief

New Jersey’s #1 ambassador (with apologies to Chris Christie , who would probably agree with us), Bruce Springsteen, rocked the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief last night. The Boss kicked off the four-and-a-half-hour-plus show – which also featured a Nirvana reunion – with “Land of Hope and Dreams,” “Wrecking Ball” and “City of Ruins.” Bruce Springsteen 12-12-12 Concert Performance “For 25 years, if you go to Asbury [Park] in the summer, and there was no one on its beaches, no one on its boardwalk,” Springsteen said in introducing “City of Ruins.” “Then, over the past decade, thanks to an arts community, thanks to the gay community, thanks to people who lived there and toughed it out, the town has had a renaissance.” “The Jersey Shore’s always been a special place. It’s been inclusive.” “I’m sure there will be a lot of difficult conversations when the rebuilding comes around, but I pray that that characteristic remains along the Jersey Shore.” Springsteen then brought out Jon Bon Jovi, another of the Garden State’s homegrown heroes, to jam with the E Street Band on his 1975 classic, “Born to Run.” Pretty much as cool as it gets.

Welp, it looks like it’s not a rumor and we have pics of the ring! According to celeb jeweler Ben Baller : My boy Bush is a dear friend of mine, so when he hit me up about proposing to his girl of over 10 years, I said, don’t worry about the price, let’s just get it the f**k in!!! We used a beautiful VS G color triple Ex cushion cut 2 carat diamond…we created our own setting Now the pics might suck because it’s hard to get a proper macros close up shot with my iphone, but I made the best that I could… but the ring does NOT suck. it’s so nice, it sparkles and what’s crazy is that I’ve made over 5 engagement rings in the past month! Damn Reg, only a lil a$$ 2 carats huh?! We know damn well Kimmy Cakes wouldn’t have gone for that isht! Set your DVR, American Idol fans: Fox has announced that Season 12 of television’s highest-rated show will debut over two nights in early 2013: Wednesday, January 16 and Thursday, January 17. The series has also unveiled a new promotional photo, courtesy of E! News , which at least makes it look like Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are getting along. At least for the 30 seconds it took to snap this picture… Are you excited for Season 12? Do you believe Mariah and Nicki were ever angry at each other?
