Tina Fey Goes Off on Todd Akin, Politicians Who Define Rape

Tina Fey is one unhappy comedian. The 30 Rock star spoke last night at the Center for Reproductive Rights Inaugural Gala in New York City, using the opportunity to call out Todd Akin of Missouri, Richard Mourdock of Indiana and other politicians who have remarked on abortion and rape over the past few weeks. “I wish we could have an honest and respectful dialogue about these complicated issues,” Fey said. “But it seems like we can’t right now. And if I have to listen to one more gray-faced man with a two-dollar haircut explain to me what rape is, I’m gonna lose my mind.” Watch now: Tina Fey at Center for Reproductive Rights Gala

Magazine Covers: President Obama And His Bangin’ First Lady Grace Cover Of EBONY, Plus Barack Finally Addresses Black Issues!

President Obama and First Lady Michelle are all coupled up on the Nobember cover of EBONY Magazine! The 2012 Election is 30 days away, and the incumbent, President Barack Obama, and his wife, the First Lady Michele Obama gracefully cover the November issue of EBONY. In the cover feature, written by MSNBC political analyst Melissa Harris Perry, and in an open letter from The President to “African American Families,” the second term hopeful thoroughly outlines for voters what he’s done over the past four years to benefit the country at large, and specifically the African America community. The President ‘s points in the article hone in on Jobs, Health Care, Education, and Crime and Violence, to name a few. And, he makes his second term plan clear—continue to improve the economy, accessible health care, foster community sustainability via education, health care and stable families. Here are a few quotes from the cover story: On Jobs: “African Americans were hit especially hard by the recession…but over the past 30 months, businesses have created 4.5 million new jobs.” On Education: “We created the first-ever White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans.” On Health Care: “…the numbers of working poor who don’t have health care who are African American or Latino are higher than the general population…the 30 million people who are going to be able to get health care for the first time…are going to be African Americans.” What do you think? Will this help his case for addressing African American issues?

U.S. Women’s Soccer Team: Golden!!!

It took a last-second goal by Alex Morgan to send the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team into its Gold Medal matchup against Japan, but no such heroics were required to earn the Yanks a revenge-filled victory today: Yes, we did! By a score of 2-1, America took down the team that shocked us in last summer’s World Cup finals. Carli Lloyd scored in the eighth and 54th minutes of the game, with Yuki Ogimi netting a shot in the 63rd minute, and the U.S. held on for the prize it had been aiming for over the past two weeks. An Olympic record crowd for women’s soccer (80,203) at Wembley Stadium watched Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and company pile on to each other when the final whistle sounded, as bars and offices across the county broke out into chants and toasts just a few moments ago. Canada, meanwhile, defeated France earlier in the day to earn the Bronze.

And now multiple sources confirm that Glee star Kevin McHale is also under consideration for the gig.

Jennie Garth: Very Thin, Struggling at Dating

It’s been less than five months since Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth split after 11 years of marriage, but she already looks quite a lot different. Noticeably slimmer , to be more specific. Jennie Garth yesterday (left), and in 2010 . “I always said I would rather lick a dirty floor than go back to dating,” Garth said. “[Dating] is very new for me. I have training wheels on right now.” “I was married [for so long]. That’s my whole adult life, basically. I think I’m actually going back into adult adolescence. I’m having a moment.” Garth, who has been linked to HGTV’s Antonio Ballatore, said that she’s “met a few people of the opposite sex” but is finding it hard to date again. “They come into it knowing who I am or my history,” the actress opined. “While I know nothing about them, so I have a weird disadvantage.” [Photos: WENN.com, Pacific Coast News]

Lolo Jones Tears Up, Defends Herself Against New York Times "Hit Piece"

Lolo Jones may be without an Olympic medal, but she is not without controversy or headlines. The sprinter – who lost out on Gold in the 100-meter hurdles when she hit an obstacle on the home stretch and who then finished in fourth place by a tenth of a second yesterday – was the subject of a feature in The New York Times Sunday. And it was far from flattering. The article claimed that Jones “has decided she will be whatever anyone wants her to be – vixen, virgin, victim – to draw attention to herself and the many products she endorses,” referencing the fact that Jones has played up her virginity and her looks over the past few weeks. Appearing on The Today Show this morning, the athlete fought back tears and labeled the piece of journalism a “crazy misogynist hit piece.” “They should be supporting our U.S. Olympic athletes,” Jones told Savannah Guthrie of the newspaper. “Instead they just ripped me to shreds. I just thought that it was crazy because I worked six days a week, every day for four years for a 12-second race.” The Times also compared Jones to Anna Kournikova, a retired tennis player who got a lot of attention for her looks… yet never actually won a single tournament. Faced with that charge, Lolo points to her resume. “I have the American record. I’m the American record-holder indoors. Just because I don’t boast about these things, I don’t think I should be ripped apart by media. I laid it out there, fought hard for my country and it’s just a shame that I have to deal with so much backlash when I’m already so brokenhearted as it is.”
