Paramore Debut ‘Renegade’ At Fueled By Ramen Show

Band promises churning new track will be available online ‘soon,’ at 15th anniversary concert in NYC. By James Montgomery Paramore’s Hayley Williams performs at the Fueled by Ramen 15th anniversary concert Photo: MTV During Wednesday night’s Fueled by Ramen 15th anniversary concert, Paramore pulled the curtain back on a brand-new song, “Renegade,” and promised that fans will be able to hear a full studio version very soon. The new song — recorded along with their roaring single “Monster” back in March with producer Rob Cavallo — is a churning, spiky thing, full of roiling bass and guitars, and seems to bridge the gap between the band’s punky Riot! past and the more plaintive expanses of 2009’s Brand New Eyes. Paramore have been using a recorded version of the brand-new track as their intro music during their recent run of Warped Tour dates. Now, as frontwoman Hayley Williams promised the crowd at New York’s Terminal 5, fans will be able to get their hands on it in the very near future. “This song, we will be putting online for you to have as soon as possible, we’re working on it!” she shouted. Of course, it’s not clear when (or even where ) “Renegade” will be made available. A spokesperson for the band’s label told MTV News that the release date “has yet to be confirmed.” Paramore didn’t just use the FBR anniversary show as a platform to premiere new songs, though. They also worked a classic into another new track, spinning a few refrains of Fleetwood Mac’s stirring “Landslide” into their sonorous acoustic track “In the Mourning,” and the crowd definitely appreciated the move, singing along to the iconic verses and cheering wildly. And Williams responded , telling fans that they’ll be able to own that track too. After all, she’s been promising new material in 2011, and she did it again on Wednesday night. “Thank you so much, goodness!” she said. “Well, if you like that, we’re going to release it later this year for you guys to have … hey, we promised we’d put some new songs out for you. You guys sounded amazing on that, thanks for singing along.” Are you excited for new music from Paramore? Tell us in the comments! Big Sean First Pick For MTV Jams’ Fab 5

Rapper tells MTV News his Finally Famous is ‘best album in the world.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Big Sean Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images It’s going to be a hot summer. Just ask G.O.O.D. Music recording artist Big Sean , whose first album, Finally Famous, debuted at #3 on the Billboard albums chart after it dropped in June. Now Sean is setting things off as the first of MTV Jams’ 2011 Fab 5. Conceived in 2005 on MTV Jams, the Fab 5 is a collection of the most outstanding new hip-hop artists of the year who have made a visual impact on the road to releasing their debut albums. Fab 5 alumni include Juelz Santana, Tony Yayo, Paul Wall, Young Jeezy, Kid Cudi and Drake. This year MTV Jams, MTV News and Sucker Free will bring you 2011’s hottest new hip-hop upstarts, and Big Sean is up first! In the past year, Sean has emerged from being a G.O.O.D. Music understudy to one of the main stars on Kanye West’s squad. With his playful flow and witty lyrics, Sean proved this year that he can make hit records when he snagged the #1 spot on Billboard ‘s rap singles chart with “My Last” featuring Chris Brown. He also just shot the video for his next single, “Marvin & Chardonnay.” The K. West and Roscoe Dash-assisted track is poised to pick up where his last hit left off. But who is Big Sean exactly? In his own words: “Big Sean is a Detroit player, a dreamer. Somebody who went against the grain who realized following your heart is way more important than following your head. And somebody who when I look back on life, I don’t have to say, ‘I wish I coulda, woulda, shoulda did anything.’ ” The pint-sized MC got his moniker because of a 6’8″ friend who had the same name. “His name was Sean too, so they called me Big Sean and him Little Sean, just to be funny,” he said. “It’s way fresher for me to be little and people have to call me big.” Since rolling with Team Kanye, things have only gotten bigger, and the fame has brought about some strange occurrences for Sean, especially on Twitter. He recalled a time when someone posted a childhood picture, lifted from his grandmother’s house, on the social networking site. “I’m like, ‘How the hell did you get this picture?’ ” he said. “The Internet is powerful; it’s crazy.” Wise words indeed. Sean also reveals that if he were down to his last $10, he’d splurge on … who else but himself? “I would spend it on the best album in the world: Finally Famous. ” That he is! Check back here every Monday for the next four weeks to find out who will join Big Sean in the Fab 5. And tune in to “RapFix Live,” where each artist will be highlighted. Paramore’s ‘Monster’ Video Premieres

Clip hints at past dramas and points to the long road ahead. By James Montgomery Paramore’s Hayley Williams in their “Monster” video Photo: Fueled By Ramen Last month, Paramore roared back to life with “Monster,” the first song they’ve released since the rather acrimonious departure of founding members Josh and Zac Farro in December. In the track, Hayley Williams seemed to be singing about nothing but the Farros (Josh in particular) and how Paramore are pushing on without them. But if the song is about the interpersonal relationships that cause a band to fall apart (and subsequently come back together again), well, then the video — which just premiered on MTV.com — seems to be about the band itself. Or, more specifically, the band as a sort of machine, one that never stops running and seems designed to continually churn through members. In this case, it is the Monster. And it must be fed. Or something like that. Because the “Monster” video is one gigantic M

Paramore, Green Day Clash For Musical March Madness Championship

Voting is now open as the bands compete for 2011 title game after tough Final Four challenges. By James Montgomery Paramore Photo: Nigel Crane/ Redferns It’s all come down to this: Green Day and Paramore will meet for the 2011 Musical March Madness title, advancing to the championship game after knocking off a pair of tough challengers in the Final Four. Third-seeded Green Day held off a late charge from upset-minded #9 Disturbed, watching a big lead (nearly 8,000 votes) dwindle down to triple digits as Final Four polls closed Sunday at midnight. In a contest that saw more than 230,000 votes cast, Green Day’s final margin of victory was less than 800. Things weren’t nearly as close in our other Final Four matchup, as #5 Paramore dominated heavily favored #3 My Chemical Romance. Hayley Williams and Co. led from nearly the opening tip, and ran away from MCR — who lost the 2010 MMM championship matchup to Coheed and Cambria — late, ultimately cruising to a 20,000-vote win. That sets up our 2011 championship game, which is not only a clash of two battle-tested bands (Green Day knocked off the likes of U2, Blink-182 and Panic! at the Disco in this year’s tourney, while Paramore survived showdowns against foes like No Doubt and Tokio Hotel), but also serves as the culmination of a year-long quest for revenge: Both Green Day and Paramore were upset in the opening round of last year’s MMM and have spent the past 12 months seething about that fact. In short, this one’s been a long time coming. So, why wait to get the action under way? Championship game voting has begun over on the Newsroom blog! Polls will remain open until Monday (April 4) at midnight ET. And since it’s the championship game, we want to keep things suspenseful, which means results — and our 2011 MMM champion — won’t be revealed until Tuesday on MTVNews.com. MTV’s Musical March Madness has reached our championship game! It’s Green Day versus Paramore, and the winner is determined by your votes. Rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM. ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Deena Explains Wardrobe Malfunction

The new housemate laughs about her early encounter with the Situation. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Deena Photo: MTV News Well, that’s one way to introduce yourself to your new roommates. “Jersey Shore” newcomer Deena Nicole Cortese hadn’t been inside the Seaside Heights house for more than a few hours when a few too many games of flip cup led to an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction in which she exposed her lady parts to a shocked, though quite amused, Situation. And let’s be honest, Sitch is not exactly the shockable sort when it comes to unveilings of female flesh. Just how did Deena come to drop her drawers on the show’s newest episode quicker than you can shout, “T-shirt time”? “That was such an accident,” she confessed to MTV News. Let’s allow Deena to set the stage. “I wasn’t used to the environment. I didn’t know anybody,” she explained. “I was like, ‘All right, let me get a little buzz. Little did I know, I really didn’t eat the entire day, so my little buzz turned into a quick little hammered. We drank the entire night, so as soon as the nighttime hit, now I want my ‘blast in a glass’ hat. I’m feeling fantastic. I can’t feel my face.” And so Deena and the Situation go in search of the hat, a straw cowboy hat of which she is quite enamored. No sooner does she plop that hat on her noggin than, well, we’ll let the New Jersey native take it from here. “I wanted to show just my bikini, so I go to take off my dress, not realizing my bottoms were not there anymore and came down with my dress,” she said. “That’s when you hear me go, ‘Oh no, not the bikini.’ All frazzled. I had no idea. How embarrassing! “Do you know what?” she added with a shrug. “You can’t dread over things. You know what? Laugh about it. Big deal. Whatever!” Don’t miss “Jersey Shore,” airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: ‘Jersey Shore’ Related Photos Jersey Shore | Back To Jersey | Cast Photos
