HECK NO! “I let my boys choose their life,” Mikki says into the camera, speaking on behalf of his wife and adding: “We just say whatever…We say, 'Yeah, choose it!' Moments ago, TMZ reported that Gwen Stefani has filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale. Sources say Stefani cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking joint custody of the couple’s three children. There is reportedly no prenup, so the split will be subject to California’s 50/50 community property law. Given the length of the marriage and the fact that Stefani’s net worth is reportedly twice that of her husband’s Rossdale will likely come out on top. According to the documents she filed today, Gwen is already seeking to deny Gavin spousal support. Rumors of Rossdale cheating on Stefani have been circulating for years, but Gwen made no mention of infidelity in her divorce petition. The split comes as something of a shock, as Stefani welcomed the couple’s third child just last year. Shortly thereafter, Stefani and Rossdale celebrated their 12th anniversary by posting a throwback photo celebrating their time together. The couple has issued a joint statement that reads: “While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment.” Story developing. After seven seasons of critically-acclaimed existential despair, Mad Men will come to an end on Sunday, and even the most devoted fans really have no idea what to expect from the finale. That’s not because the show is known for wild, Shyamalan-esque twists (though there were certainly some surprises over the years), but rather because, like The Sopranos (the show on which Matthew Weiner cut his teeth), Mad Men is unpredictable in the sometimes maddening and often meandering way that real life is. Back in 2007, it seemed that fans who expected Tony Soprano to go out in a blaze of glory hadn’t really been paying attention over the years, and the same can now be said for the viewers who want Don Draper to tumble from a skyscraper or find lasting peace on a California commune. We’re not claiming to know what will ultimately become of the man once known as Dick Whitman, but we can tell you his fate almost certainly won’t be a perfect match with any of the most popular predictions. Weiner and his writers are known for their subtle foreshadowing (We figured there was going to be a suicide in season five, but most fans guessed Pete Campbell would be the one to check out early.), but even so, trying to guess exactly what will happen to Don in the series finale is sure to be about as fruitful an exercise as predicting where you yourself will be in five, ten or twenty years. And therein lies much of the appeal of a series that often feels more like great literature (and dare we say, real life?) than a television show. In something of a surprise move, the penultimate episode gave us more in the way of definitive endings and hints about the future than we’ve come to expect from Mad Men. There were some illuminating callbacks and allusions in a season that’s already been filled with them, and the Internet is currently abuzz with theories and conjecture. Even so, Don’s future remains almost as characteristically murky as it’s ever been. The show has never really trafficked in bombshells, so it makes sense that in a way, the two big surprises in Mad Men Season 7 Episode 13 have been telegraphed for years. Cigarettes and war were the specters looming over this show from day one. In fact, Don’s opening bit of dialogue in the very first episode was about smokes and military service. Mad Men Episode 1, Scene 1 So it makes sense that the unwelcome surprises that greeted Don and Betty last week were directly related to the deadly boogey-men that so often made headlines in the 1960s (and ’70s). Betty’s diagnosis and Don’s beat-down were both classic Matt Weiner plot developments – the kind of surprises that you realize you should have seen coming only after they blindside you. But what now? We’ve likely seen the end of both Betty and Pete (His happy ending may have been more of a shock than her tragic illness.), and while we could spend days discussing whether or not those characters deserved more or less from the writers, the really important question at this point is, What about Don? The last we saw of Mr. Draper/Whitman, the once-imposing ad man was at an Oklahoma bus stop, a rumpled Sears bag his only luggage. Many fan theories went out the window (no pun intended) following the death of Betty, as while Don wasn’t always the most attentive parent, he’ll likely man up when it comes time to care for Bobby and Gene. Some feel that his newfound single-parenthood will prevent Don from reaching his West Coast Shangri-La. (A recent episode was titled “Lost Horizon,” which is also the name of the novel that gave us that term for an Edenic paradise.) Others think he’ll shirk his duties and keep right on drifting. One interesting theory has the Draper boys relocating to Europe , and as absurd as it might sound, the move would actually make a fair amount of sense, if only because it would enable Don to resume living his life as Dick Whitman. However, in both cases, it’s highly unlikely that the major events will be wrapped up in a neat little package that perfectly makes sense of everything it encapsulates. All we know at this point is that Don is heading West, just like unmoored Americans have for centuries. Like the pioneers of yore, his future is uncertain and he’s guilty of more than his fair share of atrocities, but despite the destruction the ad man of mystery has left in his wake, many of us still hope he’ll find some modicum of contentment wherever he lands. And we hope for our own sake that the future of television will offer characters just as frustrating, baffling, and strangely identifiable as the farm-boy-turned-corporatized-creative-genius-turned-beatific-drifter that we met first in a smoke-filled Manhattan bar back in 1960. In honor of Mother’s Day, Leah Jenner took to Instagram to celebrate her journey to parenthood. In a new post, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star showed a growing belly and mentioned her excitement. “I can’t wait to meet this little person,” she wrote. “#AlreadyFeelLikeAMama.” Brandon and Brody Jenner joined Leah for lunch at their mom Linda Thompson’s house. Brandon couldn’t contain his excitement about the baby either. He also rushed to Instagram to express his enthusiasm: “Three generations. Well, one in the belly.” he said on Instagram, posing with his mom and wife. “Happy Mother’s Day! @ltlindathompson @leah_jenner @brodyjenner,” he wrote. Heading into Parenthood Season 6 Episode 13 , the question really wasn’t whether or not viewers would cry over the final installment of this beautifully-written, criminally underrated drama. The question was simply how much one would cry. Watch Parenthood Season 6 Episode 13 Online The finale certainly did not disappoint, as the Braverman family came together for Sarah’s wedding to Hank, which Max was able to photograph… just prior to hitting it off with a beautiful young women who didn’t call him “Asperger’s.” Cue tissue box number-one. Elsewhere, Joel and Julia chose to adopt Victor’s newborn biological sister, while Adam took over Chambers Academy. This decision led Crosby and Amber to breathe new life into The Luncheonette. Then, of course, it came time to bring on tissue box number-two, three and four. Zeek succumbed to his failing heart, although creator Jason Katims and company at least spared us a total breakdown by revealing the moment of his passing off screen before Camille found him, passed away, in his armchair. As he requested, Zeek’s ashes were spread on the baseball field, as a series of flash forwards depictued the Bravermans a few years into the future. Among the highlights: Joel and Julia have four kids. Crosby and Jasmine are expecting their third child. Adam is handing Max his diploma from Chambers Academy. We’re losing any and all control of our tear ducts just writing these words and remembering the footage in our heads. While Parenthood is considered by many to be the most emotional program on television, along with the saddest program on television, Katims shared with TV Line why he chose to end the series on an uplifting note. “This is ultimately an uplifting show, and it’s about this family coming together,” he said. “We didn’t want to give the audience a fairytale ending, and we wanted the story of Zeek dying… “By juxtaposing the death against the family continuing to expand and thrive, that would give it the music of life.” Darn you, Jason Katims. Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard are planning ahead for her labor and delivery process. The two are writing Bible verses for the big event! The 19 Kids and Counting twosome recently took the time to write out passages from the Bible – by hand – to hold on to during the birth of #BabyDilly. “Writing out bible verses for encouragement during pregnancy, labor and delivery!” Duggar wrote on her Instagram account, a go-to for pregnancy info. “#scriptureboard #babydilly #pregnancyprep #blessedparents.” The mom-to-be, who has shared some good Jill Duggar baby bump photos already, showed off another glimpse of her growing bump as she sat on Dillard. Sorting through the scriptures, the religious couple wrote several passages down with different colored pens, including Isaiah 26:3 and Deuteronomy 4:9. With 24-25 weeks to go, there are plenty more to add. Duggar, 23, and Dillard, 25, have been crossing items off their to do list she got pregnant, from renovating their house to giving their baby its own hashtag. Last month, Jill Dillard’s baby registry was created, featuring many “Baby Dilly” musts, such as a three-piece crib and a portable video surveillance system. And don’t even think about giving her a hard time about that registry (they actually have more than one) because future moms need caffeine , okay? Even a Duggar gets to have some vices.
