Tina Fey Introduces The Sarah Palin Network

Barack Obama wasn’t a big fan of Sarah Palin’s uninformed criticism of his nuclear arms treaty with Russia this week. But at least the President, along with all rational human beings, can take solace in Palin’s existence for one reason only: it’s enabled Tina Fey to deliver the best satire television has seen in years. The actress was at it again last night, impersonating the former Alaskan Governor (and current professional, paid speaker of BS) on Saturday Night Live . Fey introduced viewers to The Sarah Palin Network, which is comprised of the following programs: Are You Smarter Than a Half-term Governor? Tea Party Wheel of Fortune (Example of a puzzle: Obama is a Terrist) Hey, Journalist, I Gotcha! (Where “I re-edit my interviews with journalists to make it look like they were the ones that were woefully unprepared.”) Man in a Helicopter with a Sniper Rifle vs. Wild It takes a lot to upstage Justin Bieber on the show , but Fey did it with this great skit. Weekend Update Charades

Tina Fey was on Jimmy Fallon's show last night, so Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler showed up to do a little Weekend Update Team Charades. Major charm offensive ahead. Also some fair to middling charades. 3OH!3 Discuss ‘Leaked’ Track ‘House Party’

‘That’s a fun song,’ Nathaniel Motte says. By James Montgomery 3OH!3 Photo: MTV News Those 3OH!3 guys have never really been ones for subtlety. Last week, when MTV News visited them in the studio where they were putting the finishing touches on their Streets of Gold album, it seems they were planning to “accidentally” leak a sneak peek of the album a few days later — and they weren’t exactly trying to hide that fact. Oh, and the leak in question was a song called “House Party,” which is — you guessed it — about throwing a totally awesome house party. “There may or may not be a leaked song that we accidentally slip out there on the Internet, with maybe a video, and it might be something about a house party,” 3OH!3’s Nathaniel Motte smiled. “It’s gonna be called ‘House Party,’ and someone might steal it off my computer and put it online pretty soon.” “Yeah, It might be me,” Motte’s cohort Sean Foreman laughed. Lo and behold, a few days later, “House Party” appeared online . And, much like Motte and Foreman had promised, the song is basically one long ode to getting totally wasted within the confines of your own home (sample line: “I’m gonna have a house party in my house/ I’m gonna pour booze down my mouth”). What can we say — 3OH!3 are straightforward dudes. “That’s a fun song. We were talking about it the other day and we’re really excited because all the songs we’ve written thus far — and we’re getting close to the end — are things that we’re really excited about,” Motte said. “And they’re all things we hope to get out there, whether they’re on a CD or whether we release them in another way, we’re excited about all of them.” But while “House Party” can pretty much be taken at face value, it’s only representative of half of what the dynamic duo have done on Streets of Gold, due in June. By their own accounts, there’s an entirely different side to the band and their music, one that gets equal love on the album too. “I think we stretched. As much diversity as there was on the last album, we just pulled that and stretched it further,” Foreman said. “You get stuff on either end of the spectrum — like ‘House Party’ is crazy and has the craziest production, and it’s just a fun anthem that you’d want to sing with all your friends. And then there’s stuff on the other end of it, where it might be a little bit more singing and stuff like that.” “Slow jams for the ladies,” Motte added. “You always need a slow-dance song in the middle of the party,” Foreman laughed. “Make your way to the dance floor, player.” What do you think of 3OH!3’s “leaked” song, “House Party”? Michael Lynche’s Save: ‘American Idol’ Experts, Fans Weigh In

‘Bad decision with this many weeks left!’ one MTV reader writes. By Gil Kaufman Photo: Ray Mickshaw / FOX For once, “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest wasn’t exaggerating when he promised that Wednesday night’s results show would be a shocker . On a night when many predicted that Aaron Kelly’s “Idol” journey would be coming to a halt , instead it was burly personal trainer and new dad Michael Lynche facing the sing of shame. Lynche, who has emerged as one of the strongest contenders in an otherwise lackluster season nine, pulled out his big guns in an attempt to stay in the mix, reprising his lauded cover of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work” and earning the season’s only save. He was on the chopping block despite a mostly praised R&B spin on “Eleanor Rigby” on Tuesday night. “I was absolutely shocked,” Rickey Yaneza, webmaster of the “Idol” fan site Rickey.org , said about Lynche landing in the bottom three alongside Kelly and Andrew Garcia. “I didn’t think he’d end up getting the least amount of votes, but I think they made the right call.” Yaneza said Lynche’s “Woman’s Work” was one of the best performances of the season so far, and the reprise was more than enough to earn his spot back. As for what happened to put Lynche in the crosshairs, Yaneza speculated that the brawny singer’s fans may have gotten complacent, while supporters of Kelly and Garcia pulled it together and rallied enough votes to keep them in the competition. “Aaron and Andrew’s fans worked their butts off overnight knowing their guys were in trouble,” he said, noting that Lynche’s fanbase has never been as strong as those for other on-the-bubble contestants such as Kelly, Garcia and “Teflon” Tim Urban. MTV’s own “Idol” disciple, Jim Cantiello, was surprised that the judges used their one-and-only save for Lynche, assuming they’d save it for one of the other front-runners. “Given the way this season is going, I assumed they’d only use it on Crystal Bowersox or perhaps Lee Dewyze,” he said. “Michael was a likable guy, but he’s been railed for giving overdramatic performances. Tuesday night, he went way over the top and Simon was quite vocal in his disapproval. So for 24 hours later to have passed and now the judges are unanimous in giving this guy another shot? It was unexpected.” Cantiello disagreed with the move, saying Lynche had reverted back to his “over-emotive” habits. “After his results-show interview where he told Seacrest that people should just download his studio recordings if they’re not feeling his onstage antics?” Cantiello said. “That right there proves he has no intention of pulling back. America wasn’t feeling his dinner-theater performance style, voted him off, and then the judges gave him a free pass to keep doing what he’s doing. If he doesn’t tone it down next week, he’ll be the lowest vote-getter all over again.” MTV readers reacted strongly to the drama, with Kevin writing, “Now what do they do if someone that is talented and could have a future in the business like Crystal doesn’t get enough votes one week? Bad decision with this many weeks left!” Rick took a more academic approach, arguing that the judges shouldn’t have saved Lynche because “when your vote total is that low, then your fanbase is highly unlikely to carry you through and you’re going home within the next few weeks anyway. I don’t think you break out the save until there is seven or even six left. In that case you could potentially save the winner.” MJ Santilli, who runs the “Idol” fan site MJsBigBlog.com , isn’t a fan of the save in general, feeling that the “Idol” chips should fall where they may with no interference from the judges. “Surprise boots are part of the ‘Idol’ experience. Everyone gets over it and moves on,” she said. “So I’m happy to have it out of the way for the season.” That said, if the save has to be deployed, she was fine with Lynche being the beneficiary. “There are at least four contestants who should be heading out the door before Mike Lynche: Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Katie Stevens and Tim Urban have all had spotty track records, at best, on the ‘Idol’ stage,” she said. “Plus, Mike is one of the few contestants left with decent performance skills, and now that Paige Miles is gone, he’s the only R&B singer in the group.” Santilli was also surprised at Lynche’s elimination because she figured his fanbase wasn’t being split with any of the other contestants. But the problem now, she said, was that if one of the other front-runners — such as Bowersox, Dewyze or Siobhan Magnus — is eliminated in the next few weeks, the judges can’t do a thing about it. “And there goes that feel-good save they could have used during ‘Idol Gives Back,’ ” she lamented. Michael Lynche’s ‘American Idol’ Save And Other Reality-TV Comebacks

From Chris March to Speidi, we look at some spectacular returns from the dead. By Eric Ditzian Michael Lynche Photo: FOX Michael Lynche was an “American Idol” goner for exactly 216 seconds: the time between Ryan Seacrest’s announcement that he was heading home and Simon Cowell’s declaration that the judges had used their precious save to keep Big Mike crooning another day. “We only have one save in the competition,” Simon said. “This is unanimous, Michael, if it’s any comfort, and we have decided we’re going to see you next week.” And just like that, Lynche was once again an “Idol” hopeful instead of an “Idol” has-been. It was an emotional comeback for Big Mike, the soulful teddy bear who was stuck in Hollywood Week while his wife went into labor and delivered their baby girl. And it’s a comeback that has us looking back at other reality show revivals, when contestants we thought were dunzo ended up re-joining the competition. Chris March, “Project Runway” : Season four’s gregarious costume designer got Heidi Klum’s heave-ho in episode four, after he couldn’t figure out how to make fashion magic out of shoulder pads and baggy sweaters. But one illness of a fellow contestant later, and March was back to sew another day. And sew he did. March ended up making it to the final four and getting to design an entire collection before being booted off pre-Fashion Week. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, “I’m a Celebrity …Get Me Out of Here!” : Speidi actually pulled off a reality show quit-and-comeback twofer in the Costa Rican jungle. First the duo decided they were “too rich and famous” to be slumming it with the likes of Stephen Baldwin. They took off voluntarily … only to return shortly thereafter, blaming the devil for their actions. But that comeback was short-lived, as Heidi was hospitalized and the couple fled back to the concrete jungle of L.A. Matt Giraud, “American Idol” : “Idol” introduced the judges’ save in season eight last year, and Giraud was the first and — until Big Mike — the only contestant ever to receive that honor. Yet Giraud’s fate should be a cautionary take for Lynche. On Disco Night the following week, Giraud busted out a slow-burning take on “My Funny Valentine” and was promptly voted off once again. This time there was nothing the judges could do. Beware, all ye who attempt to overrule the will of the American voting public. Jimmy D and Shauna, “Millionaire Matchmaker” : Wait, were you under the impression that “Matchmaker” isn’t actually a competition show? Oh, gentle reader! Both of these looking-for-love-in-all-the-wrong-places contestants have popped up twice on the show. After insulting his Scientologist date during his first appearance, Jimmy D staged a comeback, taking a new gal to Vegas. She ended up getting a bit too tipsy and fleeing to her hotel room while he waited downstairs for their romantic dinner. To paraphrase Jimmy D, Don’t nobody treat Jimmy D that way! Shauna, meanwhile, is a self-declared cougar who first landed a date with a rich 20-something. Sparks didn’t fly with the youngster, so Shauna opted for an older gentleman for her comeback. Of course, she never actually got to the date, as she ran away screaming after catching a glimpse of the old fogey, losing a high heel in the process. Veronica Portillo, Basically Every “Real World/Road Rules Challenge” : Veronica is the undisputed queen of reality-show comebacks. You think we’re kidding? How ’bout “Challenge 2000,” “Battle of the Seasons,” “Battle of the Sexes,” “The Gauntlet,” “The Inferno,” “Battle of the Sexes 2,” “The Inferno II” and “The Ruins.” We’re exhausted just thinking about all that wackadoodle combat and late-night boozing. Kudos to Veronica for her epic resilience … and for actually winning three times! Who is your favorite reality-TV comeback kid? Reminisce in the comments below. What Rehab? Lindsay Lohan Partying Like a Madman

She is going broke . Friends worry she will die . But rehab be damned. This week on the party circuit, Lindsay Lohan ran into a few of her old carousing companions, including Paris Hilton, and former flame Samantha Ronson. Amazingly, not a single police reports is believed to have been filed! First, she hit Bardot, where Sam was chilling. The twosome somehow kept the peace. “Things seemed amicable between Linds and Sam,” a source said. “Usually the pair doesn’t engage. They did this time in a friendly way.” Will Lindsay Lohan get help before it’s too late? After that, it was off to a private party in the Hills where Paris Hilton was on hand but trying to stay incognito. Amazingly, Paris may be a good role model for Lindsay. Lohan partied until 6 a.m., with bodyguard in tow and cigarette in hand. On the plus side, she didn’t fall like she did last weekend at Les Deux. Stumbling outside the infamous club, she ended up in the fetal position in the back seat of her car. No cacti were involved, but nevertheless, another crazy night for LL. Classy chick, this one. You really wonder when and if she’ll get a clue. The only good thing we can say here? Michael Lohan has yet to comment because he’s too busy getting engaged to and trying to procreate with Kate Major . Gross.

Alyssa Milano Wants You To Buy Her Clothes

We’ve had a pretty decent run on pictures of Alyssa Milano wearing something other than her line of franchise clothing over the last little while, but the party is over because she’s back to her old tricks. Here she is modeling her new line of MLB and NFL shirts for chicks. They look alright, but they’d look even better crumpled up on my bedroom floor. Yes I did use one of the oldest/lamest jokes around. Deal with it. more pictures of Alyssa Milano here

Resurrection Rocks: Celebrities Celebrate Easter with Families, Fiances

The holiest day on the Judeo-Christian calendar was the perfect opportunity to catch a whole lot of glimpses at celebrities with their families yesterday. Some, such as Gwen Stefani, are often seen out and about with their significant others and adorable babies. Others, such as David Arquette, aren’t exactly paparazzi regulars. Still, Easter is a time to hang with the family, give props to Jesus Christ for his resurrection and attend exclusive parties in Malibu. One of these shindigs was hosted by Katy Perry, who proved she has equal love for Jersey Shore and the Son of God. Check her out below, standing alongside fiance Russeel Brand and pal Jonah Hill: Who else was spotted at this party and other similar events? 3Oh!3 Prepare Fans For Another Ke$ha Collaboration

‘First Kiss,’ the duo’s first song with ‘rad’ pal Ke$ha, will appear on their upcoming album. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias 3Oh!3 Photo: MTV News 3Oh!3 helped Ke$ha teach boys lessons on her hit “Blah Blah Blah.” And she’s returning the favor on the guys’ next album, Streets of Gold . “First Kiss” was recorded before Ke$ha stormed the charts with “Blah,” and it was actually the backdrop for the first meeting between the party-loving singer and the similarly celebration-happy duo. 3Oh!3’s Sean Foreman recalled how he and bandmate Nathaniel Motte were first introduced to the “Tik Tok” singer. “We were working with our buddy Benny Blanco and Dr. Luke [on ‘Kiss’], and we had a line for the song. It’s kind of a call and response, and Luke’s like, ‘I know this girl.’ We worked with her and we got a friendship since then,” he said. “She’s rad,” Motte added. “The success she had with ‘Tik Tok’ was amazing.” As of now this collaboration with Ke$ha is the only guest appearance on the album, which comes out in June. But the guys note that they’re open to inviting other artists into the studio. “It’s nice to work [with friends], like when we worked with Katy Perry [on ‘Starstrukk’],” said Foreman.
