Dave East Turns Himself In On Assault Charges Yet another NYC rapper is headed to the courthouse over slapping someone up this week… Dave East is living up to his street rep out here…and it could cost him a few fines and community service time. The rapper is facing misdemeanor assault charges after allegedly popping a man on Pier 40 in NYC while deboarding a party yacht this past July. The incident was caught on camera and briefly went viral on social media: According to TMZ , the man Dave struck, 28-year-old Joel Rosario, says he had no confrontation or even contact with Dave inside the party venue, so he was completely blindsided by the attack and has no idea at all why he hit him. He also claims that he didn’t even know who the rapper was, and police only identified Dave as the man who hit him after an investigation. After the incident, Rosario had to be treated for a laceration above his left eye. Dave turned himself in to police on Tuesday afternoon and was charged with misdemeanor assault and released. He has another court date regarding the charges coming up this December. Hmm…how do you think this will end up panning out for the rapper? Johnny Nunez/WireImage/SplashNews

“To survive with little nutrition, to make it across dangerous waters, to survive the peril of being in boats with other black people that they did not know nor speak their language…It’s an amazing story when you think about it” — Bishop T.D. Jakes DALLAS — Bishop T.D. Jakes paused briefly to reflect on long ago autumns while viewing a poignant exhibit about Thomas Jefferson and slavery inside the African American Museum of Dallas. Jakes, the influential Pastor of The Potter’s House, walked through a powerful three-gallery exhibition that featured detailed accounts of how enslaved Africans labored on Thomas Jefferson’s Virginia plantation, Monticello, some 200 years ago. “As an African-American I think it’s really difficult for you not to be passionate about this,” Jakes said during an interview inside the museum. “But even as an American in general I think it is a part of our history that gets swept up under the rug and yet it has so much to do with the current dilemmas that we face today and it has all the world to do with any solutions that are derived for us to be more harmonious as a people in this country.” Jakes is the honorary co-chair of a new traveling exhibit, “Slavery at Jefferson’s Monticello: Paradox of Liberty,” which will run from Sept. 22 to Dec. 21 at the African American Museum of Dallas. The exhibition tells the story of slavery at Monticello, Jefferson’s 5000-acre plantation, from the perspective of Africans who Jefferson enslaved. More than 300 artifacts, works of art and documents representing Jefferson’s legacy of slavery be on display. Dallas is the first city to host the exhibit that will feature additional objects that have never left Monticello. Other stops for the exhibit include Detroit, Richmond and then the West Coast in 2019. ( Photo : African American Museum of Dallas ) “You know, it’s interesting, as I was walking around museum, reading some of the quotes that were attributed to Jefferson, the conflict that he had while being an advocate for emancipation on one hand yet he was a slave owner on the other,” Jakes said. “I think that conflict is indicative of where we find ourselves today as a people that many people in this country have not resolved their own inner turmoil about how they see the assimilation of other cultures into our society, what role they should be, and the tug and pull between those two issues.” Gayle Jessup White knows something about inner turmoil, too, because she is still processing a complex past: Her African ancestors – men, women and children — were enslaved by Thomas Jefferson. Jessup White, community engagement officer for Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, and a descendant of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, helped facilitate the exhibit opening in Dallas. “This is a story about my family,” Jessup White said last week. “And this exhibit humanizes people. You will see tools that were used by enslaved people, people who were cast aide, people who were left behind, but these people were the backbone of America.” Jessup White is an integral part of Monticello’s African American experience: DNA tests have proved that Sally Hemings was White’s great-great-great-great aunt. More than 80 members of the Hemings family lived in slavery at Monticello over five generations. “In this exhibit, you will see the stories of six families who lived and worked in slavery at Monticello, we know of these families because Thomas Jefferson took such copious notes,” she said. Sally Hemings is considered one of the most important African-American women in history. At just 16 years old and a slave, Hemings negotiated with one of the most powerful men in the nation, ensuring she would receive “extraordinary privileges” and achieve freedom for her children. Jefferson, the author of The Declaration of Independence and America’s third President, fathered at least six children with Hemings. “We’ve given back to Sally Hemings her humanity,” White said. “The objective of this exhibition is a bit different —we want visitors to understand Sally Hemings as a person through her family roles as a mother, daughter and sister. We’re not just talking about Thomas Jefferson and his family, we’re talking about the enslaved people and their families, too.” “This is an American story because these enslaved people helped shape America,” Jessup White added. “This exhibit is a big deal: There is lots to see, lots to take in, and lots to learn.” Jakes said the legacy of slavery is complex — but well worth exploring. “I think it’s important that we own the fact that our founding fathers were flawed in that way and it helps us to better understand the potentials and possibilities of the recurrence of that in contemporary society,” Jakes said. “I think it’s just a very important look at where we came from. Dr. Harry Robinson, President and CEO of Dallas’ African American Museum, said the Monticello exhibit is important and distinctive. “This is information that children won’t get in textbooks,” Robinson said. “This exhibit tells about slavery from the enslaved people’s point of view – and that’s a new perspective. This is their story.” Robinson added that residents of Dallas – Black and white – can benefit from the exhibit. “Dallas is sometimes considered a cultural outpost and when we established this museum, we were trying to fill the void,” Robinson said. “This exhibition will help us bring about discussions of [racial] issues that we have been dodging for some time.” Meanwhile, Jakes said America must come to grips with slavery to effectively confront contemporary racial issues. “If this country is going to live out its highest ideals,” Jakes said, “were going to have to be very intentional in listening, and learning, and not muting the voice of the person who cries out in the night and says I have been oppressed.” PHOTO : (Museum) Joseph G. Prairie View A&M defeated Grambling State 22-16 in the 93 rd State Fair Classic at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas Saturday night, signaling that a changing of the guard in the SWAC Western Division could be at hand. The Panthers (3-3, 2-0 SWAC) led from wire to wire en route to ending the two-time defending SWAC champion G-Men’s 26-game conference winning streak and beating them for the first time since 2013. Prairie View won even though Grambling (1-3, 1-1 SWAC) held the Panthers’ two most explosive weapons in check relatively well. Quarterback Jalen Morton completed 23 of 34 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 62 more yards. But that was a sub-par performance for him compared to the 511 yards – which included a school record 255-yard rushing effort – and six touchdowns that he accounted for last week. Running back Dewonya Tucker, the leading rusher in all of Division I football, ran the ball 19 times for 72 yards. The Panthers compensated for their offensive unit’s lack of fireworks with a stifling defensive effort. They held the G-Men without a touchdown until the fourth quarter; they harassed Grambling quarterbacks the entire time, registering 10 sacks with defensive end Willie Green accounting for three, and they held the G-Men to 42 rushing yards on 32 attempts. Grambling had 278 yards total offense and only averaged 3.3 yards a play. Grambling’s only points through the first three quarters came on a safety when the G-Men tackled Tucker in the end zone for a one-yard loss and a safety late in the second quarter. Prairie View led 15-2 at the half on the strength of Morton’s first-quarter touchdown passes of 38-yards to Markcus Hardy and 80 yards to Tucker and Zach Elder’ s 43-yard field goal in the second quarter. The Panthers’ final points came on four-yard touchdown pass from Morton to Zarian Holcomb in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Geremy Hickbottom breathed life into Grambling’s offense when he entered the game in the fourth quarter. Hickbottom led the G-Men to a pair of touchdowns, and they recovered an onside kick following their second touchdown. But Panthers cornerback quashed their comeback hopes when cornerback Ju’Anthony Parke r came up with an interception with 1:42 remaining to seal the win. KEY RESULTS North Carolina A&T State 31, South Carolina State 16 – The Aggies regained their mojo after having their 15 game winning streak snapped in Week 4 with a home MEAC victory Thursday night. It wasn’t easy though. North Carolina A&T (3-1, 1-0 MEAC) had to overcome a 16-3 first half deficit – reeling off 28 unanswered points after starting the game in sloppy fashion. The Aggies pounded South Carolina State into submission with their running game. They generated 208 of their 311 rushing yards in the second half. Running backs Marquell Cartwright and Jah-Maine Martin combined to hammer the winless Bulldogs (0-4, 0-1 MEAC) for 249 yards. Cartwright, the leading rusher in the MEAC with 456 yards, topped the 100-yard mark for the second time in three games with 157 yards. Martin chipped in with 92. Martin got the Aggies’ offense in gear with a 40-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter that cut South Carolina State’s lead to 16-10 at the half. Quarterback Lamar Raynard brought the passing game to the party in the second half with three touchdown passes. Raynard ended the game with 253 yards through the air while improving his record to 29-1 as the Aggies’ starter. Morehouse 23, Kentucky State 21 – The Maroon Tigers used some second half magic for the second consecutive week as they came from behind to claim a road win that keeps them unbeaten. Morehouse (5-0, 1-0)) rallied from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit against Kentucky State (0-5, 0-2 SAIC) after coming from behind to beat Miles 23-21 on the final play a week ago. The Maroon Tigers’ 5-0 record gives them their best start since 2010 when they reached the Division II playoffs. Quarterback Jules St. Ge staked the Thorobreds to a 14-0 lead with touchdown passes of four and 24 yards to Demetrius Anderson and Jordan Level, respectively. Morehouse chipped away at the lead. Santo Dunn scored on a seven-yard run that capped an 18-play, 80-yard drive that took 8 minutes, 41 seconds off the clock. Fernando Sdelamora booted a 36-yard field goal to make the score 14-10 at the half. The Maroon Tigers went ahead 16-10 in the third quarter when Dunn scored his second touchdown on a one-yard run, and they extended the lead to 23-14 on quarterback Michael Sims’ 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ryan Edwards. The Thorbreds made the game interesting when Malik Saunders scored on a seven-yard touchdown run with 4:32 remaining in the game. Alcorn State 20, Southern 3 – The Braves were unwelcome guests as they spoiled the Jaguars’ Homecoming by defeating their SWAC rivals for the third consecutive year. Alcorn (3-2, 2-0 SWAC) won the contest in workmanlike fashion. They held Southern (2-3, 1-1 SWAC) to 139 total yards – 63 rushing and 76 passing – while pounding the Jaguars with a running game that produced 243 yards as four difference ball carriers gaining at least 50 yards. Quarterback Noah Johnson led Alcorn runners with 81 yards. Alcorn got a pair of field goals from Corey McCullough, a one-yard touchdown run by De’Shawn Waller and a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown by Qwynterrrio Cole for its points. Southern avoided being shutout when M Fontenot kicked a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter. Source: Josh Blanchard / FilmMagic/FilmMagic for HBO Season 3 of Insecure went by super fast! It’s hard to believe that tonight’s episode is the season finale, but it is. Tonight’s episode is a lot about introspection, which is perfect since Issa’s 30th birthday is coming up! Molly has a surprise that her girl will love. Meanwhile, Lawrence meets up with his father and talks about life, including Issa. He tells his father that all the women he has been dealing with since Issa have been too demanding and that dating for him hasn’t been easy like his and his mom’s relationship. His pops is just looking at him like… It’s a naive perspective. That point is driven home when Papa Lawrence lets him know that he and Mama Lawrence have been through some ish. “Your mom and I had matching luggage!” Welp. In other news, Issa has put her block party planning on hold because getting it together has been harder than she thought. Molly got co-lead on a major case at work. Taurean is the other lead, but Molly was shady in how she got the case in the first place (she undercut him). That is going to prompt major introspection on her part later on. Now it’s Issa day! Molly goes to pick her girl up for a day of fun and bumps into Nathan. Yes, Nathan. He has some flowers thinking he’s about to make amends but Molly shuts him down. Apparently, he has been ghost for a month and Molly tells him to go away because he’s not about to mess up Issa’s birthday. He does as he’s told for now. Molly’s surprise is taking Issa to a blackbuster night in the park. They’re watching The Last Dragon , one of Issa’s favorite movies. Lawrence came out too because it’s also one of his favorite movies. That becomes clear when they bump into each other and say lines from one of their favorite scenes. Lawrence then joins his boys, Chad and Mike ,and learns that Chad’s fiancee took him back, even after the cheating scandal. Lawrence is shocked but Chad said he had to do a lot of begging but he wasn’t trying to “do this couple shit all over again.” Plus, it’s how love works (in his mind). You see where this is going, right? Lawrence and Issa are probably not getting back together (anytime soon), but you can tell that Lawrence is reconsidering a lot of things in terms of how relationships can work. He even heads back to Issa’s blanket with her favorite snack just to wish her a happy birthday and their vibe is super cool. Issa also gets to talk to the founder of the blackbuster night, a woman she also met at Tiffany’s baby shower who obviously has similar interests. She even confirms that event planning for the love and with no real budget is no joke and inspires Issa to try to get the block party poppin’ again. Issa and Molly take it back to Issa’s place for a slumber party. Then Molly tells Issa that she ran Nathan away because she didn’t want any drama on her 30th and of course Issa is pissed because she would have rather handled that herself. Then Issa says Molly has a habit of throwing people away and being negative and that she assumes the worst in everyone. This even shows up at work. Molly assumed that Taurean was coming for her neck and canceled him out when it came to competition. Molly just sees it as this is how she has to be to get what she wants but Issa says what is she going to do at work when everyone hates her, “Because this isn’t her. This has never been her.” Then we cut to Molly at work. Molly learns that Taurean has joined another case since Molly is capable of handling it on her own. But it feels weird, and we get the sting is when she sees Taurean meet up with two other co-workers to actually work together on another case. They offer a begrudging, “Congratulations,” and look at her like… You can tell they feel some type of way, not about Molly having ambition. It’s more about Molly allowing that ambition to steamroll and isolate people. This prompts her to do some introspection and she even calls Andrew, #AsianBae, to apologize for being a jerk and she actually shows some vulnerability. We finally see Molly with her mask off. Issa links with the organizer of the blackbuster night and she has all types of knowledge about how to find partners and make the block party happen. it looks like the beginning of a nice partnership and even friendship but then in another scene, we see that same friend meet up with Lawrence for drinks. He met her at the baby shower too and this is looking like a date. That’s going to make things really awkward. Finally, Nathan meets up with Issa to apologize, talmbout he went back to Houston because he was dealing with a lot of stuff. He doesn’t know how to explain what this stuff is but he gets really down and negative and he can’t talk to people sometimes and he didn’t want to put her through that. Issa translates it to, “You ghosted me and left LA because you were in a bad mood?” But what it really seems like is that Nathan may be dealing with depression and doesn’t know how or is ashamed to communicate that. He does seem to genuinely be contrite and offers an apology. Issa expresses that she needs some time to think about some things and figure out what she wants, so she goes in her house, puts some finishing touches on her apartment and lives her best life alone. Nathan will be back though. He claims that he’s here now and hopes they can talk. They’ll talk again, but we’ll have to wait a year before we see what comes of their relationship…or lack thereof. By now, you've surely heard the big Teen Mom OG news, right? And no, we're not talking about the additions of Cheyenne Floyd and Bristol Palin to the cast. We're talking, of course, about Catelynn Lowell's pregnancy! Yep, after having a miscarriage last year that was so traumatizing it caused her to contemplate suicide, Catelynn is pregnant with what she's been calling her “rainbow baby.” She and husband Tyler Baltierra seem very, very excited about adding another member to their family, and it's been pretty cute to see. So far, we know that the baby is due on March 6th , and although there's been no official gender reveals, reports claim that they're having another girl. And thanks to this adorable new Teen Mom OG sneak peek, we know that their daughter Nova is pumped about being a big sister! The clip starts off with Catelynn and Nova making cupcakes while Tyler sits at the table nearby. Cate tells Nova that some of their cupcakes are going to be pink and others are going to be blue, then asks her if she knows why they're making them that way. Nova honestly just seems psyched about cupcakes in general, so Catelynn asks her if she knows why they're having a party the next day. “Mommy has a baby in her belly,” she explains to her, “and tomorrow the party is because we're going to find out if it's a little girl or a little boy.” “Yeah!” Nova responds, soaking up the news. Cate asks her if she'd rather have a little brother or sister, and Nova doesn't hesitate to say she'd prefer a sister. Tyler, who's always been open about how much he wants a son, makes a face, then asks her “What if it's a boy?” Catelynn asks her if she'd be happy with a little brother too, and she says she would, because she's precious and perfect. They start talking to Nova about babies, and they tell her babies cry a lot. “Yeah, then you just say 'shh,'” Nova says, again, because she is too cute for this world. She then says that she's going to rock the baby and feed it bottles and be a big sister. “He's so cute!” she exclaims. “I love him!” The whole thing is really just painfully adorable, it really is. It's also nice to see a lighthearted moment with the family, after how heavy things got for them last season. Some people think that Catelynn and Tyler rushed into having another baby , that they should have waited longer after her trips to rehab. But one thing is for sure, and that is that Nova is going to be the best big sister. Check out the sweet moment in the video below:

Here's why https://t.co/g1XC06oFHg pic.twitter.com/m8ewCQwsTE — NewsOne (@newsone) September 12, 2018 Love, seeking her third term in Congress, has found herself in a tight race. Utah is a red state, but many residents of the 4th District have been showing love to the congresswoman’s opponent, Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams . A Salt Lake Tribune poll in June found that Love had just a six-point lead over McAdams. The congresswoman was fighting for her political life while embroiled in a campaign finance scandal . Love was in hot water with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) over her team improperly raising more than a million dollars for a primary election that was never expected to happen. During the Fox interview, Love lashed out about the political ads against her. “They want to just do character assassination, and I’m telling you what Brian, I’m not going to allow them to do that,” she told host Brian Kilmeade . “This is absolutely — it’s below me. … This is something that’s happening not just to me, but around the country. This is the way that they’re trying to win. They will buy, they will cheat, they will assassinate your character to try and win.” But Love has also fired off negative ads, tying McAdams to President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton in one of them.
