The British singer posted a note to fans on Monday in which she gave them an update on the procedure to remove a benign polyp from her vocal cords. “Sorry I haven’t written for a while. Thank you for all your positive thoughts and get well wishes,” she wrote . “I’m doing really well, on the mend, super happy, relaxed and very positive with it all. The operation was a success and I’m just chilling out now until I get the all clear from my doctors.” Last week the doctors who performed the procedure gave an update on the surgery. “Adele underwent vocal cord microsurgery by Dr. Steven Zeitels to stop recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage (bleeding) from a benign polyp,” read a statement from Massachusetts General Hospital, where the surgery took place. “This condition is typically the result of unstable blood vessels in the vocal cord that can rupture. Based on the advice of her doctor and voice therapist in the United Kingdom, Adele came to Boston to consult and undergo corrective voice surgery with Dr. Zeitels, the Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center. … Dr. Zeitels expects Adele to make a full recovery from her laser microsurgery.” The surgery used special lasers to stop the vocal cord bleeding and has successfully been performed on other singers in the past, including Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler in 2006. It came after the “Rolling in the Deep” singer scrapped all her remaining 2011 performances and appearances on doctor’s orders. The vocal problems were the latest hiccup in the 23-year-old singer’s plans to tour the U.S., which were previously derailed when she had to call off a string of gigs due to a bout of laryngitis. While fans won’t be able to catch Adele live anytime soon, they can check out her first live concert film, ” Live at Royal Albert Hall ,” which hits stores on November 29. Less than two weeks after a California woman claimed that the “Baby” singer had fathered a child with her last year following a brief backstage tryst, TMZ is reporting that lawyers for accuser Mariah Yeater quietly dropped the suit last week. In fact, the gossip site is adding that not only has the paternity case been withdrawn, but lawyers Lance Rogers and Matt Pare have quit representing Yeater entirely. Bieber’s camp had vigorously denied the claim from the moment Yeater launched the paternity action earlier this month. Yeater claimed in a signed affidavit in the suit that she had unprotected sex with Bieber last October in a backstage area at one of the singer’s concerts at Los Angeles’ Staples Center and that her four-month-old baby is his. Last week, Bieber’s camp confirmed that the 17-year-old singer would take a paternity test as soon as he returns from a European promotional jaunt in celebration of his just-released Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe . “I can confirm that the team has proactively made arrangements for Justin to be tested upon his return and we’re going to hold everyone who is involved responsible,” Bieber spokesperson Matthew Hiltzik said in a statement. “It’s sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims,” Hiltzik added. “We’ll vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions.” It is unclear if Bieber’s camp will still pursue a lawsuit over the bogus claims. Yes, Justin Bieber. We KNEW that little boy was poking and stroking. Via RadarOnline : A 20-year-old California woman has filed a bombshell lawsuit against teen pop icon Justin Bieber alleging he is the father of her three-month-old baby boy, Star magazine is exclusively reporting in its new issue. Mariah Yeater is demanding the singer take a paternity test “to scientifically confirm” he is the father of the child, according to court papers obtained by Star. The papers were filed in late October and Yeater asks the court for Bieber “to provide adequate support for my baby.” In an affadavit signed under penalty of perjury Yeater says she was 19 years old when she had sex with the underage star backstage at one of his concerts in Los Angeles. Backstage? And you were more underage then her?? Dang, Bieber! Bieber’s reps have strenuously denied the accusations but a court hearing has been set for later this year. In a statement to RadarOnline.com, Bieber’s said: “While we haven’t yet seen the lawsuit, it’s sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims. We will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations.” We’d like to think that this 20-year-old woman wouldn’t put herself out there like that if… Oh wait, Maury Povich has been making a living off of unsure women and their paternity tests for years, huh. Wonder how much she’s gonna get for the exclusive interview about her night (or nights) of getting that fever from Bieber. That should pay for at least one year of daycare.

LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant, clearly no stranger to controversy, may find himself in some more hot water after footage was shot of him appearing to sling some homophobic slurs at an NBA referee during a Lakers, San Antonio match last night. According to TMZ , the incident occurred in the third quarter after Kobe got hit with a technical foul. Clearly angry, Kobe walks to his chair, punches it, and screams at the referee, Bennie Adams. Although you can’t hear the words he uses, he appears to mouth the words, “F**king f**got.” One of the announcers then comments, “You might wanna take the cameras off of him right now, for the children watching.” It is sadly not the first time recently that homophobia in relation to the NBA has been an issue. When Toronto Raptor guard Leandro Barbosa held the hand of teammate Reggie Evans in celebration of a big win, as the pair headed to the locker-room recently, it didn’t take long for a massive homophobic retaliation to ricochet across the internet. Instinct Magazine notes that the video of the teammates hand holding was uploaded to YouTube, but the ability to post comments had to be disabled after a torrent of juvenile, vile anti-gay messages started to accrue from sports fans. This outburst from someone who is supposedly a role model for fans the world over, probably isn’t going to do much to promote tolerance and acceptance in sport, so it seems like we still have a very long way to go in regards to changing the ignorance of some people’s thinking. Apparently, there’s a reason why Gabriel Aubry recently panicked over his paternity. The Canadian model filed a motion on December 30 to be officially, legally declared the father of Nahla, the two-year old daughter he shares with Halle Berry. Insiders tell Radar Online his concern over custody status is based on a series of explosive fights with his ex. “Whenever Gabriel doesn’t do exactly what Halle tells him to do, or if he does something she doesn’t approve of or like, she goes crazy on him, screaming and shouting,” the source says . Referring to Berry as someone with a “nasty temper,” this friend says things grew more heated than ever near the end of the year, as Aubry was spotted out in public with Kim Kardashian and others. “Halle was absolutely furious and had a complete melt-down. She basically gave him an ultimatum: choose between dating other women and carrying on being on her good side… in the end he just got sick of being bossed around and told what to do by his ex-girlfriend.” For that reason, Aubry can’t trust that he and Berry can peacefully work out a custody arrangement outside a courtroom. The source makes it clear that Gabriel believes Halle is a good mother, and has no intention of fighting for full custody of Nahla. He just wants to ensure his rights as her father are protected, especially as Berry has allegedly gone to extreme lengths to discredit him. “Gabriel told me that he believes Halle is having him tailed by a private investigator, and he’s not just some paranoid dude with a wild imagination… if she thinks a PI is going to dig up anything salacious or scandalous I think she’ll be sorely disappointed. Gabriel’s one of the straightest, nicest, bordering on boring guys I know.”
