Selena Gomez Says New Album Has ‘A Lot More Depth’

Toby Gad and Pixie Lott are contributing to album, coming this summer. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Selena Gomez Photo: MTV News This summer, Selena Gomez will release her new album, which will feature the lead single “Who Says.” And, in the short time since she released her previous album, A Year Without Rain , in September, she’s managed to live a bit of life. When MTV News caught up with her, Gomez said those experiences will end up on the record. “The third record is really fun, and there’s a song called ‘Hit the Lights’ that I love, and it’s basically about every missed opportunity that you’ve had,” she said. “But it’s also a dance track. There’s a lot more depth [on this album].” Gomez took on a bigger role this time around as a writer. “I am writing, very excited,” she said, teasing that her life experiences will serve as inspiration for the lyrics. “There’s one song that I co-wrote with Toby Gad: It’s kind of like a compliment song slash dig,” she explained. “It’s really fun. It’s basically saying, ‘I had a few people who weren’t treating me right, but now I have wonderful people.’ So it’s like I’m thanking my friends while saying goodbye to the other people. It’s very therapeutic.” In addition to working with the “If I Were a Boy” hitmaker, Gomez also worked with a British pop starlet. “There is one [song] that I’m completely in love with, and it was written by Pixie Lott, who I am obsessed with,” she said. “And it’s my mom’s favorite song. It’s very sweet. It’s kind of a ballad, but not really. It’s basically about living in the moment; it’s about enjoying right now. I’m very much enjoying right now. I’m in a good place.” Are you looking forward to Selena Gomez’s new album? Tell us below! Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Selena Gomez Related Artists Selena Gomez

Robert Pattinson Cries B.S. In His #1 MTV Moment

RPattz will debut an exclusive ‘Water for Elephants’ clip and answer fan questions live tonight at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By MTV News staff Robert Pattinson at the “Eclipse” premiere in 2010 Photo: Todd Williamson/WireImage Our weeklong celebration of all things Robert Pattinson has almost reached its glorious, OME-laden conclusion with the debut of “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” our 30-minute conversation with the “Twilight” star. But before the show goes live at 8:56 p.m. ET, we’ve got one more favorite RPattz moment to present — our favorite one of all. Previously, we’ve celebrated our first interview with him and Kristen Stewart , the duo’s onstage smooch at the MTV Movie Awards , Rob’s first appearance at the Oscars and his love for “Twilight”-branded personal lubrication . So what happened to nab our #1 favorite RPattz moment? Oh, just the time he uncorked a few filthy words during a live MTV News interview. It all went down last June at the “Eclipse” premiere during our red-carpet live stream. The crowd outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles was squealing like mad, and we wanted to know if one rumor could possibly be true: Was Pattinson really looking forward to the moment the “Twilight” franchise would be behind him? “That was such bullsh–. I am so pissed off!” he said. But Rob, man, we’re live! “Oh sh–!” he cried. That’s not making it better. Oh well, those are the perils and pleasures of reporting live. And as it turned out, after Pattinson declared that he’d been misquoted about being ready to leave “Twilight” behind, he went on to give us a very thoughtful answer about the prospect of life after the vampire franchise. “Anyone who says they’re tired of this is completely crazy. If I ever said that, someone should just remind me of what I was doing before: just sitting around doing nothing,” he said, adding, “I love doing the movies. I like all the people. I’ve had a great time on all of them. The cast is great. It’s just weird. It’s become so much a part of my life. It’s like divorcing someone. I guess I’ll see. Maybe it’ll be great. I have no idea.” Don’t miss “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” tonight at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Tune in to see RPattz introduce a new “Water for Elephants” clip, followed by a live 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Tweet questions using the hashtag #askrob to get in the conversation! BGR exclusively reported in January that Research in Motion was hard at work trying to add support for Android applications to the BlackBerry PlayBook and its QNX-based OS. The move would be a huge one, as access to the second-largest mobile development ecosystem would give RIM’s new platform a huge jump in the all-important app game. Since our initial exclusive report, we’ve seen strikingly similar… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Boy Genius Report Discovery Date : 27/02/2011 23:05 Number of articles : 2

Robert Pattinson Says ‘Water For Elephants’ Felt Like ‘Big Movie’

‘It felt totally different from doing something within the ‘Twilight’ world,’ he tells MTV News of stretching beyond vampire role. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in “Water for Elephants” Photo: Fame Pictures For all of the Robert Pattinson fans counting down the days until your favorite actor hits the big screen again, know that there’s now just about three months (94 days, to be exact) until the “Twilight” hunk’s next movie, “Water for Elephants,” opens. When MTV News caught up with Pattinson at Sunday’s Golden Globes (he co-presented the award for Best Foreign Film), we asked whether he thought “Elephants” was a big stepping stone for him, acting-wise. “I think so,” he said. “It definitely felt like I was doing a big movie when I was doing it and it felt totally different from doing something within the ‘Twilight’ world because now it just seems so familiar, the ‘Twilight’ stuff. It’s just like going to a normal job, doing that,” he explained of playing vampire Edward Cullen in the franchise. Pattinson’s “Elephants” co-star Reese Witherspoon told MTV News recently that she couldn’t help but agree with millions of fans about one thing: “He is extraordinarily attractive,” she told us. “I’m not gonna lie.” Witherspoon shares a kiss with Rpattz in the upcoming film and a new photo of the two in a lip-lock may make more than a few “Twilight” fans jealous. But Witherspoon was quick to add that Pattinson is attractive both inside — and out. “Robert is such a great guy from a great family,” she told us last month. “That’s the thing that’s so funny. He’s not really this bad boy; he’s just a great guy and really worked hard on ‘Water for Elephants.’ He really worked long hours, long days. He looks totally different in the movie.” Are you looking forward to how Reese compares to KStew as an onscreen leading lady to RPattz? Tell us in the comments!
