The ‘Twilight’ Stars’ History With The MTV Movie Awards

From Kristen Stewart dropping her award to her near-kiss with Robert Pattinson, ‘The Twilight Saga’ has provided the awards show with many memorable moments. By Amy Wilkinson Anna Kendrick, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Getty Images As host Aziz Ansari joked at the close of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, the “New Moon” sweep of all the categories surprised, well, no one. In fact, anyone who’s watched the Movie Awards over the past three years knows the vampire saga and the awards ceremony go together almost as well as a clumsy teen named Bella and the century-old bloodsucker who loves her. Months before “Twilight” hit theaters back in November 2008, under-the-radar stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart — wearing matching Ray-Bans — and co-star Cam Gigandet attended the 2008 Movie Awards to introduce an exclusive clip from the Saga’s first film during the pre-show — the pre-show! But by the time the trio and co-star Taylor Lautner appeared at the Video Music Awards a few months later to introduce “Twilight” soundtrack band Paramore, they’d gained plenty of buzz. In fact, many Twilighters were outraged when host Russell Brand supposedly interrupted Pattinson during his speech. Hordes of Twilighters took to the Web to express their frustration and anger at the host. Fast-forward to 2009’s Movie Awards and Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner had become worldwide superstars thanks to the runaway box-office success of “Twilight” and the ensuing “Twilight” mania sweeping the nation. “Twilight” scored five Golden Popcorns that night, including Best Movie, Best Female Performance for Stewart, Breakthrough Performance Male for Pattinson, Best Kiss for Stewart and Pattinson and Best Fight for Pattinson and Gigandet. “Twilight” nearly swept every category it was nominated in save for Best Song From a Movie, which went to Miley Cyrus instead of Paramore’s “Decode.” The cast’s appearance at the 2009 show garnered many memorable moments. While accepting her Golden Popcorn for Best Female Performance, Stewart famously fumbled her award, with it eventually thudding to the floor of the Gibson Amphitheatre stage (which is probably why one of the first things she did during her 2010 win was place the statue safely on the ground before her speech). Later, when Stewart and Pattinson won the honor for Best Kiss, the two torturously teased the audience with the possibility of a lip-lock. Pattinson took the gum out of his mouth, the two closed their eyes and leaned in, but before the pucker could take place, Stewart turned away yelling, “Thank you so much!” Though fans likely felt slighted by the Pattinson/Stewart almost-kiss, they were aptly rewarded later in the ceremony when the duo and Lautner debuted the first “New Moon” trailer, which Pattinson called “a thank-you to the fans.” A few months later at the 2009 VMA Awards, the stars doubly thanked fans by introducing an extended version of the “New Moon” trailer. At this year’s ceremony, the vampire saga finally completed its long-awaited sweep — not to mention, Twilighters got what they truly wanted: a quick onstage kiss between Bella and Edward, er, Stewart and Pattinson. ‘Eclipse’ Scene: Check Out A Sneak Peek Before MTV Movie Awards!

Edward and Jacob get heated in this preview of our exclusive clip, which premieres this Sunday. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit Entertainment Last month, when we told you Robert Pattinson , Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner would be on hand at the MTV Movie Awards to present a never-before-scene clip from “Eclipse,” fans went wild trying to guess just what footage they’d get. Would it be the part where Edward Cullen proposes to Bella Swan? That much-hyped tent scene that co-star Elizabeth Reaser called a “chaste three-way” ? Well, the full clip won’t be unleashed until the Movie Awards this Sunday, but it’s just cruel to make you wait that long to find out what you’ll be getting on show night. So we pushed and we pulled, we twisted arms and engaged in activities that might be illegal in some countries — and voil

Ashton Kutcher Asks: ‘How Does Robert Pattinson Not Win Every Award?’

The ‘Killers’ star is just as dedicated as Twilighters to making sure RPattz dominates the MTV Movie Awards. By Eric Ditzian HOLLYWOOD — Last year, Robert Pattinson won three Golden Popcorn statutes at the MTV Movie Awards . At the 2010 show, he’s up for another three potential wins, including Best Male Performance and Best Kiss . Most avid Twilighters would say that’s pretty darn good work for the 24-year-old actor. Others might argue that such awards-show recognition just ain’t enough respect for the British heartthrob. By “others,” we mean Ashton Kutcher, who made a not entirely convincing (but nonetheless amazing) case to MTV News that Pattinson should never lose a single award — regardless of genre or gender specificity. Ever. “How does Robert Pattinson not win every award ever invented?” he asked us Tuesday night on the “Killers” red carpet, just days before Pattinson and his “Twilight” cohorts descend on the Movie Awards. “How does he not win every award ever?” Kutcher was only getting started. In an extended, dramatic-pause-assisted monologue, the King of Twitter made clear to what extent he’d be willing to go to defend the honor — and the awards-show dignity — of everyone’s favorite smoldering teen vampire. “Like, I almost got up onstage this year at the Grammys when he didn’t win and almost kicked Taylor Swift off,” he said. “Because I’m like, ‘What’s up? Robert Pattinson should have won this.’ “And the Emmys are coming up too,” he continued. “And I might go and just be like, ‘What’s up? Robert Pattinson should have won this.’ And then, at the Oscars, if ‘Precious’ is nominated for something next year again for some reason, I’ll just be like, ‘Robert Pattinson should have won this.’ “Or Ben Affleck,” he added with a deadpan grin. “One or another.” Are you as dedicated to RPattz’s awards-show dominance? ‘New Moon’ Men Battle For Best Male Performance At MTV Movie Awards

Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and last year’s winner, Zac Efron, are also in the race. By Jocelyn Vena Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” Vampires, werewolves and wizards — oh my! Toss in a time-traveling Zac Efron and a letter-writing soldier, and you have the race for Best Male Performance at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , airing this Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Efron might have a leg up on the other guys, since he took home this very Golden Popcorn last year for “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” but Robert Pattinson , Taylor Lautner , Daniel Radcliffe and Channing Tatum will no doubt put up a good fight. Last year’s winner returned to high school for “17 Again,” this time as a grown man trapped in a 17-year-old’s body. Can Efron prove that he’s the big man on campus again? If supernatural beings are more your thing, then “New Moon” offers up two performances that will certainly get your blood pumping — which, if you’re around Pattinson’s Edward Cullen , could be a dangerous thing. Bella Swan’s man faces off against her best friend, Jacob Black, played by a beefed-up Lautner . This is the ultimate case of Team Edward vs. Team Jacob. Of course, Lautner, Pattinson and fellow “Twilight Saga” star Kristen Stewart will be at the Movie Awards on Sunday to present an exclusive new clip from “Eclipse” ! Radcliffe is making a compelling case for the Golden Popcorn, reprising his teen-wizard role in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” There are no halves here: He can either win it or lose it. It may take a little magic for Tatum to take home the prize. He made girls cry and made Amanda Seyfried swoon in “Dear John,” but he’s up against some stiff competition in this category. Dear John — we mean Tatum — we’re rooting for you! Which guy are you pulling for to win the Golden Popcorn? Tell us in the comments! Don’t miss the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , airing live from Los Angeles this Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Les Grossman Gives ‘Twilight’ Star Robert Pattinson Some Unlikely Grooming Tips

Hear what the ‘Tropic Thunder’ movie exec advised RPattz to do to his ‘filthy hair’ before the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart onstage during the 2009 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic Doing his part to add more VIP cred to the upcoming , movie exec Les Grossman — last seen shaking his moneymaker in “Tropic Thunder” — recently took out of his busy schedule to offer “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson a few grooming tips before the big show, which airs live June 6. In a new promo, the Hollywood producer and his young actor, Grossman told Pattinson (bluntly and spewing profanities) that the awards show is lucky to have him: “MTV is sportin’ mad wood that you’re doing the show.” Pattinson, looking a little startled and uncomfortable, admitted to Grossman that he’s been thinking about cleaning himself up a bit for this year’s awards show. “Maybe [I’ll] get a suit, have a shave. Maybe [I’ll] wash my hair,” RPattz responds. “I love it,” Grossman says sweetly, before raising his voice and launching into a tirade. “In fact, I love it so much I’m going to fly Vidal f—-ing Sassoon here to personally give you a Brazilian blow-out! And when he’s done, I’ll give you the number of a good plumber because you just flushed your f—-ing career down the toilet! “Your filthy hair made you a star,” Grossman reminds Pattinson. “Your filthy hair made me hundreds of millions of dollars and, he adds, pausing for dramatic effect, “sent my fat a– kid to space camp four times. He manages to calm down long enough to ask Pattinson a question: “What kind of shampoo are you going to use?” “Dirt?” Pattinson offers nervously. Grossman, satisfied with his star’s response, reaches out for a fist bump. “That’s my dirty dog. Playa,” he smiles. Watch out for more of Len Grossman’s words of wisdom this week. ‘Glee’ Gets Picked Up For Third Season

The hit Fox series gets big vote of confidence before the end of season one. By Jocelyn Vena Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz and Chris Colfer on “Glee” Photo: FOX As the first season of “Glee” nears its June 8 season finale, Gleeks will be happy to hear that the show will be around for at least another two seasons. On Monday (May 24), it was announced that Fox has picked up the show for a third season. Variety reports that the show will be back for more musical filled laughs and drama for the next two years. “Glee” was the highest-rated show of the new season, following a special launch after the “American Idol” finale last May. In the year it’s been on the air, it has garnered critical acclaim and a rabid fanbase. Ratings continued to thrive in the second half of the season, when the show has aired in the plum post-“Idol” spot. Guest stars have included everyone from Neil Patrick Harris and Olivia Newton-John to Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, and the show has paid homage to Madonna and, in this week’s episode, Lady Gaga . “I never thought the show would even last,” show creator Ryan Murphy recently said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly . “I just didn’t think people would get it. It truly is a show that the fans think is theirs, that they discovered it.” Murphy remains wary of backlash in the face of his show’s success. “I told [the kids] at the beginning, ‘When you burn hot, there will always be a moment when they turn on you, and then they’ll come back around. You just have to learn how to navigate it,’ ” he told the magazine. “Now you can feel we’ve gone from sort of America’s squeaky-clean sweetheart to ‘Lea Michele snubs photographer!’ Like, really?” What do you hope to see in the season finale of “Glee” next month?
