Image via Getty Unarmed Black Man Shot With Police Taser In Viral Video At this point the cops should just come out and say they LIKE to shoot us with guns and tasers. Just admit it. Sadly, it might make the despicable state of affairs in America more understandable. According to PhillyVoice , a video of unarmed 27-year-old Sean Williams being shot with a taser has gone viral. The report states that a 911 call was made about a man threatening people with a baseball bat, police say that dispute began with a woman over a social security card. The video shows Williams interacting with police in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where it appears he was about to be arrested after being asked to sit on the curb. With his hands in plain sight, Williams takes a seat but allegedly failed to properly adhere to the officer’s other commands. Lancaster Mayor Danene Sorace says the incident is being investigated “Like you, when I saw the video, I was upset by it, and it is of great concern to me,” Sorace said in a video statement. “We take the use of force very seriously.” She goes on to say: “There is an investigation that has already commenced regarding the use of force in this incident, and we are in communication with other civil rights groups and other individuals to address the concerns,” Mayor Sorace said. “We’ll be continuing the investigation over the coming days.” Flip the page to peep the video.
If it feels like we've been drowing in Kailyn Lowry drama lately, it's because we sort of have been. There's been all sorts of stuff going on with her feud with Briana DeJesus — we've been seeing the beginnings of it on Teen Mom 2, and it's still happening in real time, too. And thanks to her weekly podcast, we've been learning all sorts of things about her, like her possible plans for plastic sugery and her desire to have a fourth child. Oh, and speaking of that fourth child, Kailyn's offered up an update on that situation. And you're not going to believe it. 1. Baby Daddy Drama So Kailyn has three children right now, and those three children have different fathers: she had her oldest son, Isaac, with high school boyfriend Jo Rivera, then she was married to Javi Marroquin when she had Lincoln, and finally, she conceived little Lux during a fling with Chris Lopez. 2. Good Terms In the past, Kailyn and Jo haven’t gotten along, and at one point things were so bad that she even got an order of protection against him. She moved with Isaac from their home state of Pennsylvania to Delaware, but he followed them, and eventually they were able to work things out. 3. OK Terms Kailyn’s also had plenty of ups and downs with Javi — but like, major, major ups and downs. She had an order of protection against him, too, and their divorce was particularly messy. Things were OK with them for a while during her pregnancy with Lux, but he began dating Briana DeJesus shortly after, and things went south again. But now that Javi isn’t dating one of her co-stars, they’re doing all right. 4. And Then There Was Chris As for Kailyn’s relationship with Chris … it’s very, very confusing. 5. What HAPPENED We’ve heard a few different stories, but the gist of it seems to be that they were friends who started hooking up, even though he had a girlfriend. It seems like she liked him more than he liked her, but she has said that her pregnancy with him was planned. 6. Oh, Girl … On the last season of Teen Mom 2, we saw her repeatedly reach out to Chris, only to be ignored. He didn’t seem to want anything to do with her, and for a while, it looked like he wasn’t going to be around for their baby at all. View Slideshow
Source: West Rock / Getty Houston teen Micheal Brown is out here being brilliant and what not. Twenty colleges across the country seem to think so. The 17-year-old got accepted with a full ride to all the institutions he applied for…plus $260,000 in additional scholarship offers. Shining. Wholesome beautiful content: Texas teen Michael Brown getting accepted to Stanford while his friends cheer him on. Michael then went on to get 19 more acceptances. His advice? Other first-gen kids can do it too! pic.twitter.com/PV2wbBrq3w — Isabella Gomez (@Isabellephant) March 30, 2018 Out of the 20 colleges that accepted him, Micheal listed his top choices as Harvard, Princeton, Northwestern, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Georgetown and Vanderbilt. No big. “It’s something I’m proud of because I see my hard work paying off, determination paying off, sacrifices paying off,” Micheal told CNN. The guy received only one B his entire academic career. Micheal also isn’t out here just thinking about himself. “For me, it’s important to highlight that I’m not the only student of color who is achieving,” he said. According to Michael, it was organizations like QuestBridge , Emerge Fellowship and Breakthrough Collaborative where he met other students shining like him. These orgs connect low-income communities to higher education opportunities and Michael says he knows at least one friend at every single Ivy League school thanks to these initiatives. “I want people to be informed and get access to these same programs,” Micheal went on to say. Duly noted Mr. POTUS. Lastly, while Micheal is deciding between Yale, Harvard and Stanford, he is also planning a two week summer trip visiting cities that have historically organized around racial justice. It’s apart of Rustic Pathways’ “Race in America” program. So, he basically has no chill when it comes to iconic actions. Gotcha. Congrats to Micheal and we can’t wait to watch you lead the way! Congrats to Micheal Brown of @LamarHS ! He was admitted to all 20 colleges and universities he applied to thanks to his mother's example, @HoustonISD and the @EMERGEfellows program https://t.co/WysLtH9GVm pic.twitter.com/KDEAX7aeAR — Defender Network (@defendernetwork) April 2, 2018
Okay, bear with us please, because this is more than a little weird. Just about every modern pregnancies comes with at least one sonogram, an image of a fetus in development that doctors use to monitor health and development. Parents use it to share their excitement. But one couple spotted something a little odd on their sonogram. And it looked, to them, like Jesus. You see it, right? Right there on the left. You see what looks like a long-haired guy with a beard. Culturally, we’re taught to recognize that, not as Poseidon or basically any dude from the 1970s, but as Jesus. This sonogram was taken shortly before Briella was born. Briella’s parents, Alicia Zeek and Zac Smith, were struck immediately by the distinctive image in their sonogram. Alicia and Zac, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, spoke about the phenomenon. “When they gave it to us… Umm, to me, it’s Jesus,” Alicia says. “And it looks like Jesus.” At first, she couldn’t believe her eyes. “I blinked a lot, to kinda make sure I was really seeing it…” Zac also spoke about it. “This is distinct — I mean, there’s another face looking at my daughter!” The couple say that they’re not particularly religious, but Zac describes a very emotional response to the image. “When I seen it, it almost brought tears to my eyes… I was speechless, I just couldn’t believe it, I really didn’t believe what I was seeing.” This from a couple who describe themselves as not being particularly religious. From people reporting that they’ve seen Jesus’ image appear “miraculously” on toast to pointing out that they see Jesus take shape around their dog’s butthole … (Yes, really) … it’s very common for people to spot what they’ll describe as an image of Jesus’ face on everyday items. We’ll get into the psychology behind that in a moment, but we should acknowledge that it’s fairly widespread. But many regard such appearances as novelty items. (Though often devout Christians are irritated by what they see as frivolous claims of “miracles” that they feel embarrass their religious community) For Alicia and Zac, however, this was a positive omen. Zac describes his interpretation: “The angel or God or Jesus, however you want to propose it, I look at it as my blessing.” Alicia and Zac had two very difficult pregnancies, with their first child being born with a series of complications and their second chidlbirth nearly claiming Alicia’s life. Briella, who was born healthy, is their third child. We’re not going to tell anyone what to believe, of course. The thing is that human beings are psychologically wired to pick out hidden faces. This makes a lot of sense for the survival of our species — to recognize each other, but also to spot ambushes or other threats. The same thing applies to recognizing familiar iconography. Some images are so omnipresent in our culture that, regardless of someone’s beliefs, You can grow up non-religious in a non-religious household and still have angels and Jesus and everything firmly embedded in your psyche, because Christianity has dominated Western culture for a full millennium. But Christians who believe that these apparitions — even the seemingly irreverent ones — are genuine omens would point out that just because the human mind constantly searches for “faces” doesn’t mean that a genuine face couldn’t show up. That’s fair. As for Alicia and Zac, we’re just glad that they found it comforting at the end of a very tense pregnancy.
