Some gambles just aren’t the best idea. Via KPTV : A man with a gunshot wound was reported, Friday morning, at an apartment complex called the Pines on Watkins Drive; but he wasn’t shot there. Jackson police say, shortly before that, a guest at a nearby Motel 6 had a run in with the man in the rear parking lot. They say the guest was approached by a man asking for cigarettes. The hotel guest said he didn’t have any cigarettes. The man began to walk away, when , police say, he turned around and said “I bet you don’t have one of these”, pointing a gun in his direction. The guest did have “one of these,” and began firing at the suspect. He reportedly hit the man at least once. The shooting victim left and was later picked up by ambulance at the Pines apartments. He was hospitalized, but is not being identified at this time. WELP! Bet he’ll think twice about who he runs up on in the future.
A man was charged with two counts of child abuse after using pepper spray on two children, police said. Florida Man Arrested After Pepper Spraying Kids Playing In His Yard Two boys, ages 8 and 10, were playing by mailboxes in the 300 block of Country Club Oval shortly after 5:45 p.m. Wednesday when they were confronted by resident Wilbert Vreen, according to a police charging affidavit. The boys told police that Vreen sprayed their faces with pepper spray, which a witness confirmed, according to the affidavit. “They displayed signs consistent with being sprayed by pepper spray, which were watery eyes and mucous on the upper lip,” according to the affidavit. Vreen, 58, told police that, while he did own pepper spray, he had not used the spray on the boys, but did say they were bothering him, according to the affidavit. Records show Vreen was being held Thursday at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $10,000 bail. Only in Florida !
Man Arrested After Putting Hot Sauce In Child’s Mouth And Taping It Shut via Fox News Prosecutors allege a man living in a Massachusetts hotel put hot sauce in the mouth of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son and then taped it shut. Christopher Delcid was held on $250,000 bail after pleading not guilty Wednesday to assault and battery on a child and child abandonment. The boy was found alone in the Danvers hotel room Tuesday. The child told police that bruises on his body were caused by his “daddy” who hit him with a shoe and a belt as punishment. The 21-year-old Delcid is not the child’s biological father. Police responded to the hotel after getting a call from a relative concerned about the child. The Salem News reports that Delcid’s lawyer said his client has alternate explanations for the toddler’s injuries. The boy’s mother could face charges.

Florida Man Shoots Himself With Gun He Smuggled Into Prison Three Florida prison inmates and four others are charged with smuggling a gun into a prison so they could shoot themselves and then sue the Corrections Department for reduced sentences. Via First Coast News reports: The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported Tuesday that Columbia Correctional Institution inmates Kirk Cartwright and Deshandre Billups were shot and wounded on March 22. FDLE says the pair claimed they were praying in their cell when they were shot by an unknown person. Investigators later found they managed with the help of relatives, friends and a third inmate to get a .25-caliber handgun into the prison through the mail, with plans to shoot themselves and file lawsuits. FDLE says the two regularly smuggled cellphones and drugs into the prison. Cartwright and Billups are facing five new felony charges. What type of fawkery is this?!
Seems legit … 450-Pound Man Stashes Marijuana In His Stomach Fat An obese Florida man nicknamed “Fat Boy” and “Biggie” is in jail for stashing grams of ganja in his stomach rolls to evade arrest. A 450-pound Florida man was arrested yesterday after cops conducting a traffic stop discovered that he had stashed marijuana under his stomach fat. Christopher Mitchell, 42, was traveling in a vehicle driven by Keithian Roberts, 38, when the car passed a sharp-eyed Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputy who noticed that the 5′ 6″ Mitchell was not wearing a seatbelt. During a subsequent traffic stop, both men reportedly appeared nervous, prompting the cop to summon a drug-detection dog. Mitchell, investigators noted, claimed to be so big that he was unable to buckle himself in. After the drug dog alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, officers searched Mitchell, Roberts, and the car. Investigators found “23 grams of marijuana hidden under Mitchell’s stomach fat,” a handgun, $7000 in cash, and some cocaine (for which Roberts was hit with a possession charge). Mitchell, seen in the above mug shot, was also cited for failure to wear a seat belt. Additonally, deputies noticed that the car’s trunk and its interior were “sprinkled with carpet freshener and scented dryer sheets, a common tactic used to conceal the odor of drugs when they’re being transported,” according to a news release which does not reveal which unfortunate deputy had to excavate the pot from Mitchell’s stomach cave. According to Florida Department of Corrections records, Mitchell was previously convicted of cocaine trafficking (for which he served three years in prison). Mitchell, who was freed in December 2004, had several aliases, including “Biggie” and “Fat Boy.” His weight a decade ago was 265 pounds, jailers reported. Florida does it again!

California Man Freed In Error By Jury Is Stabbed To Death A defendant in a Central California burglary case walked out of a courtroom a free man after a jury mistakenly signed a not-guilty verdict form — only to be killed hours later. Via NY Post reports: The flabbergasted judge said Wednesday that he had no choice but to order defendant Bobby Lee Pearson to be released from jail because the not-guilty verdict had been put on the record, The Fresno Bee reported. After it was too late, jurors told the judge they were hung on the charges against Pearson. Prosecutors might have had an opportunity to retry Pearson in the case of a hung jury. “I can’t believe it,” Superior Court Judge W. Kent Hamlin said after he ordered Pearson to be set free. Hours later, Pearson was stabbed to death after going to a home to get some clothing and belongings, Fresno police Sgt. James Rios said. He apparently got into a fight early Thursday with his sister’s boyfriend, who Rios says then stabbed him. The two apparently had a long history of problems. The boyfriend’s name has not been released. Hamlin said Wednesday that he couldn’t change the verdict form because double jeopardy was already attached. “This has never happened to me in more than 100 jury trials that I have done,” he said. Pearson and two co-defendants were accused of burglarizing an apartment last year and stealing a video system and a gun. The homeowner allegedly caught the intruders and wrestled with one of them. Jurors returned a guilty verdict against Pearson’s co-defendant, Terrel Minniweather, and the mistaken not guilty verdict against Pearson before lunch Wednesday. Hamlin asked the jury whether that was in fact its verdict against Pearson, and all 12 nodded yes, the Bee reported. The jurors were then asked to return after lunch for a potential second phase of the trial. The confusion over the verdict against Pearson came to light during lunch, when one juror told court staff that he had voted to find Pearson guilty, said Linden Lindahl, an attorney for Minniweather. Jurors said they were confused by the forms, one of which was for a guilty verdict and the other for a not guilty verdict. One juror said there was no form they could sign that indicated the jury was deadlocked. Lindahl said he was surprised by the jury’s confusion, since the judge “did everything by the book.” Cold world!

Jealous Queens Teacher Arrested For Rape Of Student Who Dated Another Girl Via NYDailyNews A Queens gym teacher flipped out on a student she raped numerous times when he was 16 after he revealed he was taking a date to the prom, prosecutors alleged Tuesday. The relationship between Joy Morsi, 39, of Massapequa, L.I. and the wrestler at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood began around June of last year when she helped him try to lose weight, prosecutors said. On June 10, Morsi lured the student into a “secluded closet” where she exposed herself to the student, prosecutor Taylor Piscionere said. She also allegedly sent the student emails asking if he was a virgin, as well as raunchy selfies. Sexual encounters occurred all over the school from June to July of last year — including the basement and gymnasium, prosecutors said. The victim alerted authorities two weeks ago to the affair — which continued outside of school grounds — after Morsi became jealous he was taking a girl to prom, prosecutors said. The student turned 17 during the nearly year-long dalliance, prosecutors said, making subsequent alleged encounters legal in the eyes of the law. A stone-faced Morsi, wearing all black, pleaded not guilty to numerous counts of third-degree rape, a criminal sexual act in the third degree and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Apparently the after school sex education wasn’t as big a secret as Morsi thought… “We had a feeling that something was going on,” said ninth-grader Josie Gonzalez. “They would always be together around the school.” They said Morsi’s husband is a science teacher at the same school. A man identified as her husband left the courtroom separately from Morsi without commenting. Wait, her HUSBAND works at the same school?!?!?! SMMFH. “This case is particularly disturbing because the defendant is a teacher and schools should be safe havens for children,” said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. “Instead, this defendant is accused of sexually preying upon one of her students during rendezvous all over the school.” Hajar Rajah was still shocked by the news because she thought Morsi was a good teacher. “I’m surprised about this because she’s a really hard-working teacher, and she’s nice,” said Rajah, also a ninth-grader. “She pushes people in gym all the time to work out, and that’s a good thing, you know?” If convicted, Morsi faces up to four years in prison. “If convicted”, ha, that’s cute. Another senseless act of violence , this is truly sad… Man Fatally Stabs 6-Year-Old Boy And Wounds 7-Year-Old Girl In Brooklyn The New York Daily News reports: They were two best friends laughing and hurrying to get an icy treat — but the two pals never made it past a crazed killer. Prince Joshua Avitto, 6, died and his 7-year-old playmate Mikayla Capers was left fighting for her life after a man stabbed both kids in an elevator inside an East New York, Brooklyn, building on Sunday, cops said. The hulking attacker brutally attacked the kids in an elevator at the Boulevard Houses on Schenck Ave. at 5:50 p.m., cops and family members said. “He took my pride and joy away,” said the boy’s father, Nicholas Avitto, who lamented how he had not kissed his son that day. “I’m devastated. I’m beyond comprehension. I’m trying to understand how God works. My son is gone. That was the light of my life.” The heavyset killer, believed to be in his 20s, pulled out a knife and stabbed both children in the torso on the lift somewhere between the first and fourth floors after telling them to “shut up,” a police source said. The attacker then ran off through the housing project and ditched the murder weapon that was soon found by cops, authorities said. Both children, meanwhile, were left bloodied and fading fast. Mikayla had enough strength to stumble out of the elevator on the first level but she soon collapsed to the floor, a trail of blood marking her attempt to flee. The boy was discovered when the elevator arrived on the fourth floor, police said. “She was laying face up, they were on her chest. They (EMTs) opened up her jacket and all you could see is blood,” said neighbor Kevin Velez, 41, who then saw the dying boy. He was covered head to toe in blood. I just seen that little boy yesterday. I’m hurt. These are my daughter’s friends. These are kids.” Both children were taken to Brookdale University Hospital, where Prince Joshua, known to family and friends as P.J., died a short time later, authorities said. We hope the sick killer who did this is off the streets soon!
