According to Houston Chronicle: It was supposed to be the work of a barefoot man who snuck into a Houston couple’s home in 1985, had forced sex with a woman, killed a man and escaped without a trace. In reality, it was a wife who shot her husband as he slept, then went on for 28 years living a lie. Carolyn Sue Krizan-Wilson, 71, admitted Wednesday in a Harris County courtroom that she shot Roy McCaleb, her husband of two years, almost three decades ago. “Guilty,” was all Krizan said when asked for her plea by state District Judge Ryan Patrick. In exchange for the plea, Krizan-Wilson was sentenced to six months in jail, which will be followed by 10 years probation. The relatively light punishment, though, was not as important as finding out the truth, said McCaleb’s daughter Pam Nalley. “She is willingly admitting that she murdered him and that’s something we’ve known all these years,” Nalley said. “I think that means more to me than anything.” James Stafford, an attorney for Krizan-Wilson said the septuagenarian is suffering from dementia and a host of other health issues and wanted to get past the case against her. McCaleb, a construction foreman, was 50 when he was killed on Sept. 22, 1985. Krizan-Wilson was 43. McCaleb was heavily sedated because of a recent back surgery, Krizan-Wilson said after the shooting. He was also recovering from a heart attack. SMH. In speaking to reporters after the death, Krizan-Wilson told a fantastic story about being car-jacked then raped about 10 days before the shooting by a barefoot man with a knife. She said she didn’t report it because she feared it would hinder her husband’s recuperation. Day later, she told authorities, the man came into the couple’s North Shore home through an unlocked door on a Sunday night. She claimed the man threatened her, scraped her with a coat hanger and dripped hot wax on her. He again held a knife to her throat and raped her, she said. The man then took the gun she kept under her pillow, went to where her husband was sleeping and shot him, she said. As the man fled the scene, she said, the two collided and the intruder dropped the gun. She picked it up and fired two shots after him as he fled, she reported. Days without a suspect or any new leads stretched into months, then years until investigators picked the cold case up again after 23 years. In 2008, police arrested the widow, who had been a civilian employee at the Houston Police Department as her two sons climbed the ranks as police officers. After the arrest, her attorneys argued that too much time had passed to indict Krizan-Wilson, a position that swayed former state District Judge Kevin Fine. Fine dismissed the case, and for the past five years, it wound its way through the appellate courts. The dismissal was reversed and sent back to the original court now presided over by Patrick. Krizan-Wilson will begin her six months in jail on Dec. 26. Six months in jail and 10 years probation for killing a man and lying about it for 28 years? Police Chief Jarrod Campbell said in his 11 years with the department, he’s rarely dealt with “an incident this brutal.” The Rev. Norman Hayes, 57, said he feared for his life and begged for the attack to stop. Hayes suffered a broken nose, bruises and three long cuts that required stitches across his face. “I questioned his girlfriend in his presence if she felt safe,” Hayes said. “He was very, very upset that I’d even suggest that he would hurt her. Then he turned around and hurt me very badly.” Jeez, calm down, bro… Maxie and the girlfriend, who attends the church, approached Hayes after the service. She told police that Hayes asked her if Maxie was abusing her, and Maxie became furious, striking pastor several times in the face in the church hallway. “He came from nowhere and hit me … and knocked me down, and then he got on top of me and just kept hitting me over and over,” Hayes said. According to Raw Story: A passive-aggressive note left on a car parked in a handicapped spot has drawn international attention to a paralyzed Michigan man and his wife. Matt Milstead said he went last week to the Grand Rapids YMCA to play wheelchair rugby, and he found the handwritten note shoved in the door handle when he returned to his BMW, which had the proper handicapped parking tag hanging from the rearview mirror. “I would love to see your wheelchair!” the anonymous note said. “I’m guessing male 25-35 years professional who thinks he’s got the world by the ass. But I could be wrong.” Milstead said the note left him puzzled, but his wife said she became “instantly furious.” “It’s kind of ironic the guy was trying to right a wrong,” Leslie Milstead said. “He assumed some jerk had parked in a handicapped spot that shouldn’t be, and so he was really trying. He probably felt like a good person and thought he was doing a good thing, but the problem is he was wrong.” Leslie Milstead posted a reply on her own Facebook page that has since gone viral. “You were so close on the age, he’s actually 36, and he is a professional with a full time job,” Leslie Milstead wrote. “He is also a quadriplegic, which for him means that he can no longer move his legs or his fingers in either hand. He has no grip.” She said her husband would gladly trade his 6-year-old BMW and handicapped parking pass for the use of his legs and hands, and she asked why the note writer was so sure a handicapped person couldn’t work hard, be successful and own a nice vehicle. Leslie Milstead said she never expected her reply to gain so much attention, but she and her husband hope the episode will serve as a lesson to others. “I never expected it to get to this level,” Matt Milstead said. “I kind of looked at it like, well, this will be another. It will happen again. But, hey, if I change someone’s way of thinking, then it was worth it.” She got him together. According to KOMO: A 21-year-old man whose rage over a breakup ended up in murder, apologized to his victim’s family as he was sentenced in King County Superior Court. Jarod Lane will spend the next 33 years in prison for killing 17-year-old Jessica Scholl in May of 2012. So many of Scholl’s supporters filled the courtroom to see her young killer sentenced, they had to bring in more benches. “I couldn’t believe that my beautiful daughter who I’d just seen a few hours before could be dead,” said Stephanie Scholl, Jessica’s mother. Jessica had ended her two-year relationship with Lane, and then a week later, he ended her life. “Jessica was tortured for a good length of time,” Stephanie Scholl said. “Jarod didn’t afford her any sympathy or compassion.” When Lane couldn’t win Jessica back, he showed up at her Renton home before school and stabbed her so hard with kitchen knives, the blades broke. “He tried to strangle her with a belt, hit her head against the dresser multiple times, then he drug her to the bathroom where he tried to drown her in the toilet,” said King County deputy prosecutor Jennifer Worley. “When that didn’t work, he bashed her head against the toilet tank.” Horrible! Lane set the Scholl’s house on fire to cover his crime and was found four days later in Oklahoma. Lane told the court he never planned the murder, then apologized to the grief-stricken parents who had welcomed him into their home, then murdered their only child. “I can’t express how apologetic and deeply sorry I am for my selfish acts on that unthinkable, unimaginable, and unforgettable day,” Lane said. Jessica’s family and friends then implored the judge to sentence Lane to the maximum 33 years for murder and arson. “He took the life of my 17-year-old daughter, who was just beginning to live her life,” Stephanie Scholl said. The judge agreed and gave Lane the maximum sentence. “Even though a sentence doesn’t bring her back, I really hope that it brings resolution and ultimately some peace for each of you,” said Judge Mary Yu. After the sentence, Lane’s mother handed us a note that read: “My love for my son is unconditional, there aren’t enough sorries in the world for all the lost milestones and life events, my heart aches daily for Jessica’s family.” Lane’s attorney says he’s tried several times in custody to end his own life So he took her life and tried to take his because he couldn’t live with what he did…coward.

Man Denies Leaving Racial Slur On Red Lobster Receipt The customer at the center of a racial slur written on a Red Lobster receipt last month in Franklin is speaking out for the first time and says new evidence proves he didn’t write it. Via WSMV reports: “It’s been horrific. I mean, I just have been getting all these threats and everything,” said Red Lobster customer Devin Barnes. His name and his receipt wound up at the center of the scandal, but Barnes says he now has reason to breathe easier. “I’m not mad. I just didn’t like what happened. I just wish it didn’t come out this way,” he said. Several weeks ago, waitress Toni Jenkins posted a photo of her customer’s receipt online. “She was polite. She was cheerful,” Barnes said. But Barnes did not leave her a tip and says he left the total line blank. So, when the N-word somehow showed up on the receipt online, Barnes knew he was in trouble. “I didn’t do this,” he said. “I just asked my parents, ‘Why is this happening to me?’ I mean, I didn’t do nothing. Me and my wife were just trying to go out to eat, have a nice time.” Weeks ago, Barnes’ attorney and pastor, Richard Dugger, hired an independent handwriting expert who compared the receipt with samples provided by Barnes and his wife. “There is no evidence that neither Devin Barnes nor his wife wrote that hideous statement on the line total, which means that someone else did,” Dugger said.
