The event never took place. On Sunday, meanwhile, West told website readers to gather around the Alamo in San Antonio for another viewing. But when hundreds showed up, law enforcement officials were on the scene, saying there was no permit in place for a projection and anyone attempting to put one up would face legal consequences. Chalk up another quashed Kanye event. And also chalk up some criticism aimed at the star, as Texas National Movement member Angie Alexander told MySanAntonio.com that it was “very disrespectful to the people who died” at the Alamo for West to have even conceived of an event there. Mark Loeffler – spokesperson for the Texas General Land Office and the Alamo’s caretaker – echoed this sentiment. “It’s sad that people have such little respect for the Alamo,” he said.

Mistrial Declared In Jodi Arias Sentencing Trial According to Fox News Jurors who spent five months determining Jodi Arias’ fate couldn’t decide whether she should get life in prison or die for murdering her boyfriend, sending prosecutors back to the drawing board to rehash the shocking case of sex, lies and violence to another 12 people. Judge Sherry Stephens gave a heavy sigh as she announced a mistrial in the penalty phase of the case Thursday and scheduled a July 18 retrial. “This was not your typical trial,” she told jurors. “You were asked to perform some very difficult duties.” The panel then filed out of the courtroom after 13 hours of deliberation that spanned three days, with one female juror turning to the victim’s family and mouthing, “Sorry.” She and two other women on the jury were crying. None of the jurors commented as they left court. The mistrial set the stage for a whole new proceeding to determine whether the 32-year-old former waitress should get a life sentence or the death penalty for murdering Travis Alexander five years ago. He was shot and stabbed nearly 30 times — his throat slit ear to ear — in what prosecutors said was a jealous rage because he wanted to date other people. A new jury will be seated to try again to reach a decision on Arias’ sentence — unless the prosecutor takes execution off the table and agrees to a life term. Jury selection for the next phase could take weeks, given the difficulty of seating an impartial jury in a death penalty case that has attracted global attention. Arias, who first said she wanted to die and later pleaded to the jury for her life, looked visibly upset about the mistrial and sobbed before it was announced. Her family didn’t attend Thursday but has been present for much of the trial. Family members of Alexander also cried in court. The same jury on May 8 found Arias guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Alexander, who was nearly decapitated in the bathroom of his Mesa home. The jury later determined the killing was cruel enough to merit consideration of the death penalty. Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery thanked the panel in a statement after the mistrial was announced: “We appreciate the jury’s work in the guilt and aggravation phases of the trial, and now we will assess, based upon available information, what the next steps will be.” He said a status hearing has been set for June 20, “and we will proceed with the intent to retry the penalty phase.” Under Arizona law, a hung jury in a trial’s death penalty phase requires a new jury to be seated to decide the punishment. If the second jury cannot reach a unanimous decision, the judge would then sentence Arias to spend her entire life in prison or be eligible for release after 25 years. The judge cannot sentence Arias to death. A new jury would have to review evidence and hear opening statements, closing arguments and witness testimony in a condensed version of the original trial. Attorneys will also have to find prospective jurors willing to issue a death verdict. As the proceedings continue, Arias will remain in the Maricopa County jail system, where she has spent the past five years. Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Thursday she will be confined to her cell 23 hours a day and not be allowed to give interviews. The trial’s penalty phase also featured dramatic statements by Alexander’s sister and brother as they described how their lives were shattered by the loss of their beloved sibling. The judge had told jurors they could consider a handful of factors when deciding Arias’ sentence, including the fact that she has no previous criminal record. They also could weigh defense assertions that Arias is a good friend and a talented artist. Arias found it difficult to resist the spotlight throughout her case. She spoke to a Fox affiliate minutes after her conviction, and did a series of jailhouse interviews just hours after the jury got the case in the penalty phase. “The prosecutor has accused me of wanting to be famous, which is not true,” Arias told the AP on Tuesday in an interview where she combed her hair beforehand and wore makeup for the cameras. She also insisted that no images be transmitted of her from the waist down, showing her striped jail pants and shackled ankles. Hopefully this painful saga can come to an end.

Via Page Six reports : Rihanna is suing British retail giant Topshop — chaired by billionaire Sir Philip Green — for $5 million for selling T-shirts bearing her image without her consent. A source exclusively tells us the superstar’s team had tried to negotiate with Topshop owners Arcadia Group for eight months over the rights to her image, “but they offered her $5,000 and said they don’t care.” Rihanna, 25, has hired international law firm Reed Smith to file the suit in London. The source said, “Rihanna’s management asked Topshop a number of times to stop selling her image and were told, ‘We do what we want.’ They buy the pictures from a photographer, but they do not pay the artist licensing fees. Unfortunately, UK law does not protect the artist. “What is most offensive for Rihanna is that they basically told her, ‘Go to hell. We don’t care; we are going to continue selling you.’ Topshop is now in the United States. They set up in Manhattan and Nordstrom, but they know better than to do this in the US because they would get in trouble,” our source continued. “Even though the UK laws don’t protect the artist, she has decided to move forward and sue Topshop. She has spent almost $1 million in litigation at this point. She says it’s the principle, and wants to make a statement about it. They are taking advantage of artists. It is just exploitation. What they are doing is wrong.” We’re told the case is now in discovery. Rihanna has handed over details of her fashion deals with Armani and River Island, a competitor to Topshop in the UK. A Topshop source told us: “This issue is related to a T-shirt provided to Topshop by a third-party supplier. We are aware it is the subject of litigation. [There are] public documents” available for inspection in the London court. It helps sell tickets…Amanda Seyfried, my favorite little pop tart, young heart throb, Disney star turned naked in indy films, annoying in shitty romantic comedy films, boring in papaprazzi pics, but hot all around, never trying too hard….was in the issue too, dressed like a show girl, and shit got me excited so I’m posting the pics here….it’s kinda what I do.

I have no idea how am I supposed to put into words everything that I’m feeling right now but here is my Bieber experience. My name is Polina, I’m 16 years old and I live in Moscow. When the dates for the Believe Tour were released, Russia wasn’t on the list at first, but after a few weeks they finally added us with 2 concerts: Saint-Petersburg and Moscow. My best friend Ani and I bought tickets for the fan-zone as soon as we could and we couldn’t stop freaking out. This would not be my first Bieber concert because I’ve seen Justin during the My World Tour in 2010 for the first time, and then at a free concert in NYC on June 15th 2012. This upcoming concert would be a completely different thing because I would be going with my best friend and Justin would be performing in my country. We’ve been dreaming about this day since the beginning of November 2009, the month we became beliebers. We’ve been there for him from the start, when the name Justin Bieber wasn’t even well known yet. As the concert got closer we started to think of ways to meet Justin. That’s when Ioana, an incredible person and friend, offered her help. We decided to enter the M&G contest that Bieberfever holds for every concert date. The day before the concert I refreshed my email literally every 5 minutes but when it struck midnight, I gave up. In the morning I woke up and decided to check Twitter when suddenly I saw that I got a new email. I opened it and saw, “Congratulations, Polina!” from the Bieberfever team and I started crying. I ran to my mom and she held me and laughed at me while I was bawling on her shoulder. I called my best friend and started crying on the phone! I could hear her crying too. I somehow managed to get myself together and Ani and I went to the arena. Before we knew it, the guy put the M&G wristband on me I knew that this was it. I was about to meet Justin. At approximately 6 p.m. they took us backstage and explained to us how everything was about to go down. The guy told us that we should get comfortable cause we might be waiting for a while. Finally after the longest 2 and a half hours of my life they finally told us to line up. I can’t even begin to describe how I felt when I saw Justin. Well to begin, I didn’t even recognize him at first. The space was very dark and there was a bunch of people but then I noticed him. To be honest, I expected him to be a bit taller. He was wearing a brown leather jacket, a white t-shirt and jeans and the whole outfit made him look so tan. His skin was perfect, it’s like he was a doll, like he wasn’t even real. I stared at him for what felt like forever when I heard him say, “Hey hey.” He looked so happy and he waved for us to come closer. I was so starstruck but I somehow managed to say, “Can we please have a hug?” and he said, “Yeah, yeah,” and smiled. His voice was perfect. I looked at his face and couldn’t believe that my whole world was standing right in front of me. Even though he wasn’t smiling in our picture, he was really happy during the M&G itself which made me really happy. Seeing him smile is what matters the most to me. He put his hand on my shoulder and I heard Mike say “Ready..?” and I tried to make a decent face (well I tried to not drool at least). He took 2 pictures and Justin gave us a half hug, he sort of held us closer to him for a second, squeezed us and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t breathing at that moment. Then security started pushing us out and then I knew that this was the last chance that I’m gonna get to say something. As we walked out backwards, still looking at Justin I said, “Justin, you changed my life completely,” and he looked at me, smiled and winked. What happened next is a blur, the next thing I remember is Ani hugging me, screaming and crying. I could not believe that I just met him, after almost 4 years of supporting him, I finally met him. I’ve dreamt about this for so many nights. I always thought how would I act, what would I say, what would he say – but never in my entire life did I think that it would actually happen. It’s an indescribable feeling. I look at my M&G photo and I still can’t believe that I met him. He held me, he smiled at me, for a few seconds I was there, standing next to him and for a moment he knew that he changed my life. I’m still taking it all in, still trying to understand how did I get so lucky. But the story doesn’t end here, there was still the concert. We went to the fan-zone and surprisingly got really good spots. We were standing in the 3rd row so basically 2 meters away from the stage and when Justin performed, he was so close so us. The concert was obviously amazing, and at some points I just gazed at him, and thought about how I was just hugging him a few moments ago. The concert ended around 11:40 p.m. and with the biggest smile on my face, Ani and I went home. In the subway the concert continued, beliebers chanted “Justin Bieber” and sang ‘Baby.’ It’s amazing how close Justin can bring so many people together. I woke up in the morning and my phone was blowing up from all the notifications I was getting. I didn’t understand what was going on but when I found out that Justin RTed my tweet that was 8 hours old. I started shaking and crying again. I was in complete shock, out of all the people that tweeted about the concert last night, he goes and RTs my tweet. He’s such a creeper but I love him for that. He made the whole experience even more special, and I thought that wasn’t possible.
