Source: Jeff Greenberg / Getty 23 People Charged Multimillion-Dollar Shoplifting Bust Another day, another scam . 23 people have just been charged in connection with a multimillion-dollar shoplifting operation, which spans New York and New Jersey. According to a report from WABC-TV , local authorities put the pieces of this operation together following a year-long investigation, which ultimately brought them to alleged mastermind Stephan Williams. It all started with hundreds of thousands of dollars in Jersey City, which is alleged to have eventually grown into something worth millions–thanks to a system in which participating shoplifters were instructed to procure items from a predetermined list. Ulta Beauty, CVS, Walgreens, and Duane Reade were all affected throughout this operation, where the shoplifters scammed over-the-counter meds, vitamins, beauty supplies, and multivitamins. According to investigators, a typical hit would have a hired driver dropping off as many as 10 shoplifters at the locations at a time, and afterward, the items they obtained were allegedly put up for sale on eBay. According to the most recent reports about the bust, 11 alleged participants have been arrested, while warrants for “several others” have been issued; A total of 23 people have reportedly been charged in connection with the scam. It has been estimated that $3 million in stolen items have been recovered by the police, who also managed to freeze a pair of bank accounts that totaled approximately $4.5 million.

The rapper stopped by Camp Jewel House Academy with Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson to teach the stem school’s fourth graders a thing or two. Savage campaigned against gun violence and versed the kids in music industry career opportunities. He also emphasized the importance in knowing how to manage your funds, as well as pledged $100 to each student who came through and opened a bank account. “For most kids, the focus is on earning money—and while that is important, to really get ahead you need to know how to manage your money, not just make it,” 21 said of his campaign, according to Complex . “Last year, I had the privilege of participating in one of 21 Savage’s philanthropic enterprises,” Congressman Johnson added, according to the site. “His events draw thousands of young people eager to hear his message. Things have gone from bad to worse for Wendy Williams. And now the talk show host appears to be in legitimate trouble. According to The Daily Mail, Williams was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after she suffered a relapse just one day after numerous outlets reported that her husband’s mistress had given birth to a baby. That’s a confusing sentence, we know. But Kevin Hunter, who has been married to Williams since 1997 and who shares an 18-year old son with the television personality, has allegedly been having an affair with a woman named Sharina Hudson for years. This has been an ongoing rumor for as long as we can remember — and it’s something Williams has even remarked upon to her viewers. She’s never really come out and denied the affair; she’s simply said she remains committed to her marriage. But then Hudson reportedly welcomed Hunter’s child on Monday and this, understandably, was enough to send Williams into a tailspin. The aforementioned publication writes that Williams was given an IV bag that contained vitamins and minerals at the hospital after members of her team found her highly intoxicated. It’s unclear exactly what state Williams was discovered in… but it was clearly a troubled one. “She was in a bad way and disappeared from the studio after her show Monday,” a source told the Daily Mail website, adding: “She went back to the sober house only to check herself out and decided to start drinking.” Indeed, Williams admitted to her audience just last week that she was living in this sort of facility after a previous recent relapse. I don’t know how, except God was sitting on my shoulder and I just stopped.” Hunter has said very little about his alleged affair and also about Wendy in general, but he did speak out about her sober living facility move , referring to her addiction and hopeful recovery as a “family process.” Those close to Wendy are praying Kevin won’t be a member of her family for much longer, however. “Wendy is considering divorcing Kevin,” says The Daily Mail, concluding: “She’s really distraught over the situation, she knew about Sharina but didn’t think a baby would arrive. She didn’t think Kevin would go this far, she’s lost and everyone is worried for her.” We don’t like what Williams sometimes says on her show, but we do wish her the best in this case. Back in July of 2018, Demi Lovato suffered an overdose that nearly claimed her life. Lovato recently reached a milestone in her recovery and is soon to be eight months sober. But this week, there’s a different anniversary on the pop icon’s mind. “Today I Would’ve had 7 years sober,” Demi wrote on her Instagram page over the weekend. “I don’t regret going out because I needed to make those mistakes, but I must never forget that’s what they were: mistakes,” she added. When Demi says “going out” here, she’s not referring to hitting the club (her overdose took place in a private residence). Instead, she’s using popular AA terminology: “going out” is a common euphemism for relapsing. From there, Lovato went on to express her gratitude to the organization (along with Narcotics Anonymous) and its compassionate response to roadblocks on the path to recovery. “Grateful that AA/NA never shuts the door on you no matter how many times you have to start your time over,” she wrote. “I didn’t lose 6 years; I’ll always have that experience but now I just get to add to that time with a new journey and time count.” Demi is clearly optimistic about her continued recovery, and sources say she’s fully committed to the hard work of staying sober. There were concerns among fans when Demi began dating Henry Levy shortly after leaving treatment. The couple had met in rehab, and though Levy was newly sober himself, those who are new to recovery are commonly discouraged from entering new relationships, particularly with other people who might be vulnerable to relapses. These days, Demi and Henry are broken up, though it’s unclear if the decision had anything to do with one or both parties opting to focus on their sobriety. Lovato concluded her most recent post with a message of hope for others who may have suffered setbacks in their recovery: “If you’ve relapsed and are afraid to get help again, just know it’s possible to take that step towards recovery,” she wrote. “If you’re alive today, you can make it back. You’re worth it.” During the six years that Demi was substance-free, she often served as an inspiration to others who were in recovery. Now, it seems she’s eager to embrace that role once more.
