Lecter’s gentlemanly quality and intellect make him stand out over other horror movie murderers. By Kara Warner Dr. Hannibal Lecter in “Silence Of The Lambs” Photo: Orion Pictures Corporation It’s time for yet another in-depth profile in our creepy crypt of horror movie killers for MTV’s Killer Halloween , a competition in which we ask you, the best and brightest fans, to vote for the best and scariest movie murderer ever. Which horror movie baddie has the most intense “gross factor”? Make your pick in our MTV Movies Blog poll! We’ve already provided a handy guide to the gory details surrounding Freddy Krueger , Jason , Leatherface , Michael Myers , Chucky , Ghostface and Jigsaw . Now it’s time to take a look at the man the American Film Institute named the number-one villain of the last 100 years. Name : Dr. Hannibal Lecter Occupation : Psychiatrist, cannibal, serial killer Weapons : Teeth, intellect, items purchased from the Williams-Sonoma catalog Archenemy : People who annoy him, the FBI, bad taste Profile : Smart, serene and sinister, Hannibal Lecter is easily the most gentlemanly of the killers we’ve included in our survey. Created by author Thomas Harris in a series of horror novels first published in 1981, and later immortalized by Anthony Hopkins ‘ Oscar-winning portrayal in “The Silence of the Lambs,” Lecter has won millions of fans for his creep factor and cunning ways. Not to mention his way with words: “A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.” — Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs” Horror movie expert Ryan Turek, Managing Editor of ShockTillYouDrop.com , told MTV News that Lecter’s main appeal is his cool exterior. “Hannibal is the gentleman’s bogeyman. A class act in a pool of ragged, obvious-looking killers,” Turek said. “He’s unassuming in physicality but absolutely lethal. He’ll outsmart you at every turn and serve you up for dinner. His terror factor lies in the fact that lurking behind his amiable face is something incredibly deranged. That pleasant British fellow? Oh, yeah, he wants to split your skull open and fry your brains on an open skillet.” Turek added that Lecter also has a certain finesse with regard to what types of individuals are to become his victims. “Hannibal eats the jerks or those who at least catch on to who he is. I can’t imagine him suppressing his cannibalistic side in a theater of people text-messaging during a movie.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Silence of the Lambs.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘American Idol’ judge is the magazine’s ‘All-Star Woman.’ By Christina Garibaldi Jennifer Lopez on the December 2011 cover of Glamour Photo: Conde Nast Jennifer Lopez has had a roller coaster ride of a year. In January, the singer took over one of the vacant judges’ seats on “American Idol,” scored a hit single with “On the Floor” off her album Love? a few months later, and saw her seven-year marriage to Marc Anthony come to an end in the summer. But it seems 2011 will end on a high note for Lopez as she’ll grace the December cover of Glamour ‘s annual Women of the Year issue. Lopez is being honored as an “All-Star Woman” for her numerous achievements this year in television, music, fashion and charity. The singer/actress/fashionista was interviewed for the magazine by another inspiring woman, actress Jane Fonda. Lopez talked candidly about what she’s learned about love and relationships over this past year. “I think I’ve finally learned the biggest lesson of all: You’ve got to love yourself first,” Lopez says. “You’ve got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with someone else. You’ve got to value yourself and know that you’re worth everything. And until you value yourself enough and love yourself enough to know that, you can’t really have a healthy relationship.” So does that mean Lopez is ready to date again? Possibly, but this time she plans to try to keep her love life out of the tabloids. “I think to give something a chance, to really get to know somebody, you want to do it out of the public eye,” Lopez says. “You know the media — they want to rush everything.” While Lopez’s romances often make headlines, the “American Idol” judge has been also been known to turn heads with her style. “The things I liked when I was, like, 16 and in the Bronx — jeans, cut-up T-shirts — I still like,” she admits. “But I’ve been exposed to so much now from traveling the world and seeing couture clothes,” Lopez added. “I used all of that when I created my new line for Kohl’s. My style has come from everything, from where I started to where I am today.” Lopez and 10 other lucky ladies will be honored in Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year issue, which hits newsstands November 1. ‘I got my notoriety from going into that hip-hop underground battle world,’ MC tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum Locksmith Photo: IMGMI Firestarter: Locksmith Not much is known about Locksmith , but one thing is for sure: The Richmond, California, MC can spit with the best of them. On Wednesday’s “RapFix Live,” Locksmith closed the show with a tongue-twisting, lyrically packed freestyle verse, but for those who have been following the Bay Area lyricist this is nothing new. “I really got my start … I got my notoriety from going into that hip-hop underground battle world,” Locksmith told Mixtape Daily . In September, the verbal wizard dropped his I Am Lock mixtape as a free Internet download. The 10-track project features production from Ski Beatz and West Coast luminary E-A-Ski . From the tape’s opener, “That Bullsh–,” Lock makes it clear that he is about his business. “It’s more like a raw freestyle song so it’s more accustom for people that are familiar with me,” he said. “They know he can go in. Then, it’s a shock to the people that don’t know me, like, ‘Yo this guy can really spit.’ ” “I ain’t no drug dealer, I ain’t no n—a star/ I ain’t no bitch n—a, I ain’t no prison guard/ I ain’t no f—in’ cop, I represent the Rich/ My little cousin got murdered n—a f— a bitch,” he spits. The wordplay continues throughout. Later in the track, Smith goes even deeper when he lets loose with lines like, “Lyrically I’m on another level, try to bruise me/ I make Lil Wayne sound like Lil Boosie/ I make Andre sound like Kanye/ If a n—a don’t believe a mother—er, step to me.” For Locksmith, however, all of this is simply a warm-up for his debut album, Embedded, which is due out November 15. Actor/musician/security guard Derrick T. Tuggle’s smooth moves earned him a starring role in the Keys’ new clip. By James Montgomery Derrick T. Tuggle in The Black Key’s “Lonely Boy” music video Photo: Warner Music Group Forget about that “Evolution of Dance” guy or the “Double Dream Feet” dude. The real Internet dancing sensation may very well be Derrick T. Tuggle, the 48-year-old actor/musician/part-time security guard currently setting the Web ablaze with his smooth moves in the Black Keys’ “Lonely Boy” video . For the uninitiated, the clip stars Tuggle — and only Tuggle — as a herky-jerky dance machine who grooves to the Keys’ new single while standing outside a motel room. Over the course of three-plus minutes, as the sleeves of his dress shirt become increasingly unrolled, he cycles through a series of rather amazing moves (and even mimics a few of the lyrics) before triumphantly thrusting his fist skyward as the song comes to a close. It is a decidedly odd, strangely compelling performance, and because of it, the “Lonely Boy” video — the first clip from the Keys’ El Camino album — has racked up nearly 400,000 views in less than 24 hours. It’s also made a rather unwitting star of Tuggle, even though (up until right now), no one knew his name. But what’s even more amazing is the fact that his star-making turn almost didn’t happen at all, as Tuggle told MTV News on Thursday (October 27). “I was cast as an extra, and there were maybe six or seven other people who were supposedly going to be in the video. … I was the first one to perform in the video. It was a motel shot where the guys from the Black Keys come and give me the keys to their motel room,” he said. “The director just sort of noticed me dancing and asked me, ‘Can you perform?’ I said, ‘I can dance, anybody can dance,’ so I took some moves from everybody: John Travolta from ‘Saturday Night Fever’ and ‘Pulp Fiction,’ the Carlton Banks dance from ‘The Fresh Prince’ and a little bit of Michael Jackson, so it was a smorgasbord of everybody in there. “It was just a spur-of-the-moment thing,” Tuggle added. “My acting teacher Mark McPherson, he has us do this thing before we start class called ‘Song and Dance,’ where he’ll have us sing one of our favorite songs, and then while we’re singing it, he’ll have us do a crazy dance, or a sexy dance, and I guess it spawned from that.” The end result is most definitely crazy — not to mention rather incredible, considering Tuggle nailed the routine in a single take (“As an actor, you have to know your lines, you have to be ready, so I was,” he explained). And though he’s had music-video experience in the past (he’s done background work in clips for the Dave Matthews Band, Lenny Kravitz and Lloyd), he’s never experienced anything quite like the reaction to “Lonely Boy,” and he’s hoping it will translate to more roles in the future. “I’m elated, and I’m still in shock, to be honest. I’ve been out [in Los Angeles] for 10 years, pursuing acting and music, so hopefully this will lead to more work,” he said. “Honestly, I just went down there to do my part and see what would happen. Who knew I would take over the whole thing?” What did you think of Tuggle’s moves? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists The Black Keys
We follow the singer as she returns to her hometown to sing the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ and cheer the Texas Rangers to victory. By Matt Harper Demi Lovato sings the National Anthem prior to Game 5 of the 2011 World Series Photo: MLB/Getty Fifteen minutes before taking the field to sing the national anthem near her hometown of Dallas at Game 5 of the World Series, Demi Lovato admitted to MTV News just how nervous she was. “I feel like I’m about to jump out of a plane,” the young star confided nervously after warming up her vocals in a back room deep in the heart of Arlington, Texas’ Rangers Ballpark. “Although this is a lot safer.” MTV News got the opportunity to spend the day with Demi as she prepped for the big moment. Minutes before stepping out in front of 51,000 people, she was cracking jokes, but it was plain to see that she was nervous — extremely excited, but definitely nervous. Just seventeen minutes later, and Demi’s smile said everything you needed to know about how her performance went. Standing on the field watching the 19-year-old belt out the notoriously difficult song, it was hard not to get swept up in the emotion of it all. Even before the end of the anthem, hitting a particularly difficult note in stride, the crowd erupted in premature cheering. As fireworks erupted and the crowd stood cheering, Demi left the field smiling. As we walked through the back hallways of the stadium, we were stopped every few feet by fans, athletes and MLB officials telling Demi how amazing she had done. After posing for photos with a few fans, Demi was approached by Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp, who had also just left the field after being given the 2011 Hank Aaron Award as the most outstanding offensive player in the National League. Kemp took a moment to congratulate Demi and ask for a picture with her. Finally back in the green room, Demi was able to stop and think back on the whirlwind 20 minutes. Her family and friends were all there to support her, and they gushed about seeing the performance on TV and how clearly moved the players and fans were. In the company of her support circle, Demi was able to relax and laugh and let the nervous energy of the day roll away. All that was left was to sit back and spend time with the people that she cared about the most — and cheer on the Rangers, of course. We all traveled to our seats to watch the World Series game, and Demi sat in-between her aunt and one of her childhood friends, with other relatives and close friends flanking her on either side. For the next few hours, Demi got to watch the exciting game like the rest of the 50,999 fans in the stadium, eating popcorn and standing up to cheer as the Texas Rangers’ Mike Napoli got the final out of the game to seal Texas’ 4-2 win over the St-Louis Cardinals. A perfect end to a long and exciting day for Demi Lovato. How did Demi do on the anthem? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Demi Lovato Related Artists Demi Lovato
‘It’s just nutty to think that people can’t use their celebrity for good,’ Simmons says. By Rob Markman Russell Simmons Photo: MTV News So what if Russell Simmons is rich? The hip-hop mogul doesn’t believe that takes away from his support of the Occupy movement in the least bit. For the Def Jam co-founder, it doesn’t matter if he is part of the 1 percent — ultimately all he wants is to be part of the solution. “I can’t show solidarity with the people that are suffering?” Rush asked MTV News rhetorically. “I just don’t want to have corporations control our government, I want a better democracy. I’m part of the 100 percent. If they’re suffering, I’m suffering with them.” Russell, who has spent much of his career fighting social injustice, wrote a blog on his Global Grind website in September asking the U.S. government to raise his taxes in an effort to reverse the effects of the economic recession. “For far too long in this country we have allowed the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer,” he wrote. Simmons has since been a chief supporter of New York’s Occupy Wall Street movement, which began in September. Rush, who is worth more than $340 million, will not let his bank account or celebrity keep him from doing what he feels is right. “Muhammad Ali, didn’t he help build the Nation of Islam? Did he help stop the war in Vietnam? Did Harry Belafonte and those guys help Dr. Martin Luther King?” the mogul questioned. On October 10, Simmons brought the very famous Kanye West out to Zuccotti Park and has since rolled down to the demonstration with Katy Perry and her comic husband Russell Brand. Tom Morello , David Banner and Talib Kweli have all visited and lent their support. Some have questioned the celebrity motive behind the Occupy movement, but Rush feels anyone who helps raise awareness is helping the cause. “It’s just nutty to think that people can’t use their celebrity for good and that they can’t show up to help people who are suffering,” he said. “I show up, that’s what I do, I add voice to the voiceless, that’s what I do. That’s what rap does. So I don’t see why that’s a conflict. I let people talk but I do have an answer for them, it’s nutty. It’s disingenuous half the time when the media says these things.” Related Videos Inside Occupy Wall Street
This season of “Basketball Wives LA” has been filled with over the top drama! From the first fight with Laura and Malaysia to the current drama with Draya, it’s hard to keep up with who likes who and who’s talking about who. After talking with Draya recently, I knew that I had to find out more about what is really happening on this show. I caught up with Laura and asked her for her side of the story! Of course, Laura is no stranger to the media. As Gloria’s sister, we heard her mentioned plenty of times on the first season of “Basketball Wives” due to dating rumors between her and other NBA players. Laura definitely cleared all those rumors up! She dished on the drama with her and Jackie, her feelings toward Draya and even a little bit about her rocky relationship with her fiance. Take a look at what Laura had to say below! HelloBeautiful : We watch the show every single week and the very first question that popped in my head is, what the heck is Jackie talking about? She’s been going around saying that you’ve been talking about her negatively behind her back, calling her fat amongst other things. Is she making things up? Laura: Honestly, I have no idea what Jackie is talking about. You’ll see what’s to come. A lot of things are starting to be revealed. When you hang out with someone for a long period of time, his or her personality is eventually revealed, but I’m not like that. I’m myself from the beginning. I’m not a “fronter”. I am who I am; there are no surprises with me. I show you exactly who I am from the beginning. It’s so funny when you see it play out. It’s like on a first date people are pretending to be something they’re not, but with me you get the real me from the start. Like I’ll burp, I’ll fart. That’s just me! I’m real. Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington an Urban Oasis Single Black Women Tired of Being a Spectacle HB: Why did you dislike Draya so much this season? What are your feelings toward Draya now? Laura : It played out on the show that we have beef but in reality, we’re cool. It’s no animosity and no drama. It wasn’t even like that. What was really a two-hour filming session, you saw it edited into two minutes. HB: What was the real reason you went in on Draya in the boxing ring? Did you plan that fight or did it just randomly happen? Laura: You know, I’m the same way with my sister [Gloria]. I’m very athletic and I’m very competitive. If that was mom I would have been lenient but outside of that you get in the ring with me and I’m going to start going in. Draya said she wanted to come in I was like “okay”. If it would have been any of them I would have went just as hard. I did the same thing with my sister! So it wasn’t intentional or me just going hard on Draya because she’s Draya, I’m just competitive by nature. HB: What made you and Jackie dig up dirt on Draya in the first place? Do you really believe the stories about Draya and her son are true? Laura: That’s really none of my business. I didn’t care to look her up. We were asked to do so. I feel like it was a mistake and I even said that on the show. I don’t believe everything I read. It’s hard because people twist and turn your words and don’t write down exactly what you say. That’s her child. I’m passionate about being a mom, but that’s her life. That’s one thing I can look back and say that I wasn’t interested in doing. I was thinking, “this is dumb”. HB: How do you respond to rumors that you’ve dated other NBA players? Laura: I don’t say anything to them. People are going to believe what they want to believe regardless, that comes from being uneducated. I’m at fault for that too. I used to read stuff and be like “Oh my gosh!” so I get it. But now being in the industry, I’m always like “is that really true?” I don’t put effort into it anymore. I don’t really care as far as what people say about me because I can’t change everyone’s mind. When you meet me, people say I’m so nice and so sweet but you don’t get that on TV, you get the drama. I know how to portray the difference between who I am but it’s hard to see people go at you all the time so now I don’t read it or deal with it. The only people I care about are the people who care about me: my close friends, my fiancé and my family. HB : Wow, fiancé?! How are things going with your relationship now? Are they better since the show? Laura : Things are going great! You know, he’s been my fiance, for a while now. On the show, people think that the reality that they are seeing is actually happening right now, and people don’t get it. But we were together for a while going into it. Were not shy about it. It’s been about 10 years of ups and downs but it just what it is. HB: Do you still keep in touch with any of the other girls from the show besides your sister? Laura : I do! I actually talk to all of them here and there. I’m really close to Imani and Malaysia and when I see Jackie, Tanya and Draya it’s all love. At the end of the day, we’re working together. I support them all. How many of us can say we’re doing things on our own? Think of it like this, we’re co-workers. It’s not cool to go into work and hate each other. As a woman, I’m cool with everybody. Even if we have beef, it’s of that moment. I never let it continue. We fight and keep it moving. HB: How do you think being on “Basketball Wives LA” has changed you ? Laura: It has changed me completely. I was over 200 pounds on the show and I had just given birth. I lost like 70-80 pounds since then. Other than the physical changes, I would say that it’s been therapy because you got to get a lot of things out that you normally couldn’t share with people. Seeing yourself on camera, seeing how big you are looking and how your hair looks and even your fashion. I don’t take it personally, I had a good time! I’d say that it’s mainly changed my sense of style and me caring more about my appearance. Other than that, I’m the same me! HB: Do you think we will see another season? Laura: You guys have to stay tuned! Keep the fingers crossed. I think it was a good turn out and we had a good time. Ratings are high so I’m excited! I’m sure we may have one. HB : Are you working on any new projects? Laura: Well first, everyone follow me on twitter @l4govan! I have some kids books coming out because of course I’m always reading to my kids and I figured I would put out some kids books myself. I also have a 12-step workout plan coming out because people always ask me how I lost so much weight so I want to share that with people. I want to motivate them on how to lose weight after having a child. I’m also making a maternity line for women after they’ve given birth because it was so hard to find any clothes that fit me after I had a baby. Your belly is still hanging out and you still look pregnant! It was so hard, so I wanted to make something that when you get it in, you still feel great. And now the 5 questions we always ask…. What’s in your bag? I’m such a mom! I have diapers, wipes, bottles, baby food, Cosco card, lip gloss, mascara, hair tie, cell phone, wallet, ID, credit cars, only 20 bucks because I don’t like to carry cash, iPhone with music for kids and a lot of snacks! If you were forced to get a tattoo what would it be of? I already have five tattoos. So I guess if I were forced it would have to be anything Mexican. I’m Mexican and I represent hard. It would have to be something Spanish and something about my family. Something like a quote or a sentence. What’s your vice and where do you go to get it Twix, I’m addicted like a crack head! Like you’ll find me in a closet with two pieces of Twix secretly eating them everyday! I also love chocolate chip cookies but I need the chocolate chips in the cookies so I can pick them out- weird I know. What’s one urge you get but never act on it? To jump off a roof. I don’t know why. I used to jump off the roof when I was little and would be trying to sneak out the house to go play basketball at night. I always want to do that now but I look at that roof and I’m like “Oh no”. When was the last time you cried? The other day my son got his 4 month shot! I was in tears in the hallway at the doctor! The doctor is like “we’ve done it for 4 years”! Only over my kids! What can be said about The Roots that hasn’t already been said? Everyone knows they are the go to band for rappers wanting to experiment with live instrumentation. Need we remind you of their performances with Jay-Z for his Unplugged show in 2001 and his Fade to Black concert film? The Philadelphia bred hip-hop musicians are posted behind Hov. Though many know the drummer, Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson , for his wild afro, some might not know dude has a serious record collection. Some might even venture to say he’s drifting into hoarding territory. The Urban Daily spoke with Questo yesterday where we discussed his support for Occupy Wall Street, the new Roots album, and why Black Thought should sing more often. TUD: I’m excited to do this interview because if there was any musician’s music collection I would want to raid, it would be yours. I feel like you have every record known to man. Your apartment must be full of records. QL: My library is just so overwhelming that a lot of people would love to raid my music collection. I have some property in Philadelphia and one of the main criteria for moving out of that house was I was always running out of space. Plus, when Q-Tip had a fire back in ’97, that scared me. I thought about getting another house for my records. One of the setbacks of having an apartment in Manhattan is I’m far away from my record collection. A little bit at a time I’m sneaking records to my apartment and I find myself getting back into dangerous territory. That’s not really dangerous territory. It’s just a lot. You don’t know me, bro. Guests that are frequent are like, “Okay, this used to be where the dining room table was.” Now, it’s become a turntable station. See, that sounds like a good time to me. I love places like that. Yeah, I love it too. That’s not sexy when your girl comes over though. That’s true. I hear The Roots are working on an exclusive track for the upcoming Captain Morgan ‘Life Love and Loot’ campaign. How did you guys link up? They approached us about doing music for the campaign and the thing was having been familiar with the visual campaign, the challenge was to make the song match the visual. When you think of pirates and the sea, the normal Roots backdrop of music isn’t necessarily what comes to mind. They told us we could take the liberty to make a song we wanted. The Roots wanted to make sure we stepped out of our comfort zone to fit the spirit of the campaign. The real challenge was having to make this song with only three instruments-a guitar, tuba, and a drum. Did you guys come up with the track jam session style, like a lot of your records are known for? Absolutely. We prepared for three days. We tried seven or eight different sketches of the song. Once we came up with the sketches, we played them for our Captain Morgan liaison and he decided he liked one over the others. Then, we went into the studio and fleshed it out. It took about eight takes to get it right. Was is it a conscious decision to have Black Thought sing instead of rap on this song? It wasn’t in the beginning, but because of the nature of the song, just to yell out the lyrics didn’t feel natural. Since he is a singer as well…it’s kind of hard for me to coax him to sing. I don’t know why he’s shy about it, but Black Thought sings as good as he raps. That’s always been a head scratcher for me as to why he won’t get his male Lauryn Hill on. I told him it would sound much more natural with him singing it as opposed to him rhyming it. He did both and the singing does have better energy than him not singing and that’s what we went with. Will the Captain Morgan track be available for download? Yes. It will be available for download on the Captain Morgan USA Facebook page. People can also see the making of it there. They can see some clips and photos of us recording it and jamming out. When you heard about the whole ‘Life Love and Loot’ campaign, what did you take away from it? What did it mean to you? We decided that the campaign is pretty much our thing. I guess that would make us pirates too. [laughs] We had to put ourselves in that position and define it for ourselves. If anything, we’ve been pirates too. We’re always on the road, always working to survive, and loving what we do. We’re also running a business. That’s what so many people tend to forget because we’re having so much fun doing what we do. We run a very tight business as well. But usually when we are given a set of perimeters, we just put ourselves in that position and see how it applies to us. The Roots have a new album, undun, coming out soon. Does the sound d of this Captain Morgan track reflect the sound you’re working with on the album? Nah. We finished our record at 4:30 this morning. It’s being mastered right now. We actually did this track at the same time we recorded our album and one of the advantages of doing this track was it provided us a relief because the sound of the album is very somber and serious. There really wasn’t a high adrenaline moment on the album. Doing this on the side kind of scratched that itch for us. Besides being on Jimmy Fallon, the new album, and the song for the ‘Life Love and Loot’ campaign, what are you guys doing to stay busy? That’s a big list you just gave right there. [laughs] I heard it myself and was like, “Whoa! When am I going to sleep?!” We’re really trying to focus on the album. Fallon is everyday so there’s no escaping that, but our priority is with the new album, undun . The Roots have worked with a very wide range of artists. Who haven’t you worked with that you want to work with? I’ll be honest with you. As far as the studio is concerned, John Legend and D’Angelo are the two artists under the age of 50 I enjoy working with. I enjoy working with Erykah Badu whenever she wants to collaborate. As of late, I’ve been having a ball doing these soul records. As soon as Al Green gives us the word, we’ll probably work on his next record. We just did Betty Wright’s record. Her album comes out in December also. It sounds incredible. The Roots have always been more of a politically conscious band. What are your thoughts on the whole Occupy Wall Street movement? Yeah, I’ve been down there a few times to support them. It’s taken 99% of the people long enough to finally wake up and see the power that they hold in their hands. A lot of people think revolution and change will be the next man’s fight. They want to hang back and see what happens and it doesn’t work that way. You’ve got to get your hands and knees inside the mud. You have to be apart of the change you want to see. We’ll see what happens because this is just the beginning.
