Inspired By Egypt, The People Of Lybia Ask Moammar Khadafy To Give Them Free

The uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia have inspired a few more uprisings by oppressed people elsewhere in Africa and the Middle East. Unfortunately, as motivated as the people are, in each country the desire for freedom is bringing the same thing: violence. Dozens of protesters were killed in clashes with Libyan security forces in the nation’s second-largest city Saturday as protests against eccentric dictator Moammar Khadafy stretched into a fifth day. The worst uprisings in Khadafy’s 42 years of power continued as government snipers killed 15 mourners attending the funerals of slain protesters in Benghazi. But a witness said the death toll was much higher. “Dozens were killed…not 15, dozens. We are in the midst of a massacre here,” the witness said. The government also cut off Internet access across the nation, blocking the anti-Khadafy protesters from posting photos and video. Human rights officials estimate the death toll in the demonstrations has now hit 84 as the Khadafy regime lashes out at its opponents. A similar scene played out on the streets of Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, where one demonstrator was shot to death and five wounded during protests against President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Protesters, now in the 10th day of demonstrations, are demanding Saleh’s resignation after 32 years under his rule. Between all the death and destruction of protest, we just hope these people are able to enjoy their freedom once they finally get it. Source

Michael Lohan to Billy Ray Cyrus: I Feel Ya!

Michael Lohan has just reached out to fellow embattled celeb dad Billy Ray Cyrus in an open letter. We have no earthly idea why, so don’t even ask. Billy Ray raised eyebrows earlier this week when he told GQ that Satan and daughter Miley’s star-making gig on Hannah Montana ruined his family . He says he’s desperate to get his famous offspring “sheltered from the storm.” Those words clearly hit close to home for the father of Lindsay Lohan. If anyone knows what it’s like to help his little girl follow her dreams into show business and explode into a bigger star anyone could’ve imagined, it’s MiLo. If anyone also knows what it’s like to see that little girl’s innocence stripped away, and for her to become embroiled in one scandal after another, it’s MiLo. If anyone knows what it’s like to become estranged while in prison, then resort to ridiculous stunts like booking her on Letterman without her consent … Okay, Billy Ray didn’t do that. But there are some similarities, people! They’re spelled out in Michael’s open letter to the Cyrus patriarch … Billy Ray, Oh My God! Am I seeing and reliving almost the same exact situations, scrutiny, pain and willingness to sacrifice yourself, for the sake of your family? As hard and frustrating as it is, believe me when I say, it’s a road worth traveled. Even if it may have its’ bumps and grinds along the way. As I was raised, there is nothing like the love a man has for his family nor is there any length he will go to save or protect them. The hardest part is, experiencing the pain that comes from the resistance of the very one(s) you are trying to save. The one(s) you love so much, and are willing to die for, are too blinded by the “bright light” and people who use our loved one(s) while everyone thinks you are supposed to sit back and pretend it goes unseen. As I don’t see you as any one of the three monkeys with their hands over their ears, eyes and mouth. I, nor you, are the type of men who will sit back and do or say nothing at the risk of being persecuted. When I look at what you are going through, I am forced to see myself. Two men who know what divorce and alienation, have done to our families. Why I ask, if it so hard for our wives, children and even the public, to see that all we are trying to do, is to be there for our family and try to make things right? Isn’t it clear that the answer is so easy but the people who don’t matter, make it so hard? While all we want is our family and normal lives back, others forsake that for so much more. Why is it that people don’t put themselves in or shoes? And say to themselves, “How would I feel if that was happening to me?” The sad part is, they don’t and they probably never will. But that doesn’t mean that men like you and I should ever give up. While we can’t change the world, our example just might touch a few, and maybe even the one(s) we seek to save. To that end, I want to say, that I know what you are going through, I feel your pain and frustration, and I also admire your strength, dedication and love, for your family in the name of God. Best and God Bless, Michael Lohan

‘I Am Number Four’: The Reviews Are In!

Sci-fi flick might not be treading new ground, but it’s sure to make a box-office impact. By Eric Ditzian Alex Pettyfer and Teresa Palmer in “I Am Number Four” Photo: DreamWorks This weekend brings the year’s first major sci-fi release to the multiplex, and audiences should be flocking to it after weeks of tepid rom-coms and half-baked horror flicks. “I Am Number Four,” though weakly reviewed, stands to win the top spot at the box office over the four-day holiday. “Unknown” and “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son,” alas, don’t stand a chance. Which one is right for you? Or, perhaps, is now the time to avoid the new offerings and hit the Oscar faves ahead of next weekend’s Academy Awards? Check out what the critics are saying about “I Am Number Four” and decide for yourself. The Story “Since space creatures don’t arrive with the traditional backstories of vampires and werewolves, the story of extraterrestrial conflict and teenage longing requires a little setup. John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), a new transfer student to the high school in Paradise, Ohio, arrives with more than the usual adolescent baggage. He is one of a handful of children surviving a space war. His ancestors, the people of Lorien, were all but exterminated by the evil Mogadorians. The remaining nine fled to Earth, where their Abercrombie & Fitch looks make them stand out while trying to blend in. The Mogadorians, a black-trench-coat Mafia with bald heads and tribal tattoos, are on their trail, out to finish the genocide. They already have killed Numbers One, Two and Three. Which means John is up next.” — Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune The “Twilight” Comparison ” ‘I Am Number Four,’ the appealing new kid-on-the-teen-angst block, reverberates with much of the same dark combustible mix of action and romance that’s been fueling the ‘Twilight’ vampire mega-franchise for a while now. The issues of the heart have shifted from the undead to the otherworldly, and the battles have been amped up considerably, but its fate still rests on the basic boy-meets-girls story, which frankly could use a bit more bite.” — Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times The Action “The screenplay by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar — adapting the young adult novel by James Frey and Jobie Hughes — works a few surprises into the familiar high school scenario; an action scene set at a haunted house goes in some unexpected directions, and the more we learn about Number Four’s outer space world, the stranger and more entertaining it gets (that pet beagle is not what he seems). But as ‘I Am Number Four’ ramps up toward the inevitable third-act fireballs and fights, any out-there appeal gets washed out by lots of CGI and pretty girls walking slowly away from explosions (Teresa Palmer, who shows up late as the alien Number Six, makes for a great bad-girl black swan to [Dianna] Agron’s buttoned-up Sarah). By the end it’s even turned into a kind of ‘Spider-Man’ knockoff, a young man standing in a graveyard, contemplating the meaning of his newfound great power and responsibility.” — Katey Rich, Cinema Blend The Dissenters ” ‘I Am Number Four’ is mostly a missed opportunity. The film plugs into some genuine teen angst and identity confusion that might have dovetailed nicely with its sci-fi elements. Instead these two realities, a high school with its many melodramas and aliens chasing each other around the country, operate on parallel tracks. At times it feels like the reels from two very different movies got mixed up in the projection booth. The idea here is nifty; the execution mostly pedestrian.” — Kirk Honeycutt, The Hollywood Reporter The Final Word ” ‘I Am Number Four’ is a well-made, reasonably diverting night at the multiplex that will seem overly familiar to everyone except teenage girls. It’ll be a retread to them, too, but that’s why they’ll like it — a sci-fi/fantasy drama that’s moody and broody to the point of occasional near-coma, ‘Number Four’ represents an acceptable holding action until the next installment of ‘Twilight’ rolls around.” — Ty Burr, Boston Globe Check out everything we’ve got on “I Am Number Four.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Actor who played Uncle Leo was also on ‘Everybody Loves Raymond.’ By Terri Schwartz Len Lesser in 2001 Photo: Jason Kirk/ Getty Images Actor Len Lesser, best known for his “Seinfeld” role as good-natured, cantankerous Uncle Leo, passed away Wednesday morning in Burbank, California, from cancer-related pneumonia. He was 88. Reuters reported that Lesser was admitted to a rehabilitation center near his home several weeks ago. His family said he died in his sleep after breakfast and told CNN that his passing was “very peaceful.” “Heaven got a great comedian and actor today,” daughter Michele Lesser told the New York Daily News . “The outpouring of sympathy we’ve already received has been amazing and is so greatly appreciated. Thank you to all the people who helped make my father’s last journey special and surrounded with love.” The veteran actor appeared in only 15 episodes of “Seinfeld,” but made a memorable mark as the cheapskate uncle best known for saying “Jerry! Hello!” whenever he saw his nephew. Lesser also had a running appearance on “Everybody Loves Raymond” as Garvin, a friend of Raymond’s father who always lifted his arms in excitement when he saw the title character in a reference back to his stint on “Seinfeld.” In addition to his long television career as a bit actor, Lesser also served in the army during World War II and worked in film alongside Hollywood heavyweights like Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Lee Marvin, Dustin Hoffman, Barbara Streisand and Donald Sutherland. His last role was as a neighbor in a 2009 episode of ABC’s “Castle.” Lesser is survived by two children, Michele and David, and three grandchildren.

Diane Kruger Does GQ Naked of the Day

I don’t really know who Diane Kruger is. I just know she’s German and Germans like to get intense, agry, emotionless, demented sex with good engineering. You know these are the people who just 65 years ago were doing tests on humans they deemed subpar because they were told to, making me assume they are a people that are pretty easy to get to convince to lick you’re asshole while you shit down their throat, you just have to tell them something convincing….like that if they don’t do it, they’re bad Germans…. Sure I don’t know much about the culture, but I’m working off logic here, and now their biggest crossover star from their world to ours since Heidi Klum, but then again I’m just saying that cuz I don’t know any other German’s off the top of my head, and this one is rockin’ GQ naked and amazing…and that’s good enough for me… I don’t really know who Diane Kruger is, but here she is in some movie called Inhale – Naked….
