16-Year-Old Student To Pursue Biology Degree At Howard University

A Black teenager who is displaying excellence in the realm of academia will be taking her talents to Howard University this fall. Brendell Allen , 16, will be a part of the institution’s 2022 graduating class, the university reported. Congrats to Young Scholar Brendell Allen, a 16 Year Old Junior Transfer Student! Read more about her story here: https://t.co/18XUAQzFBB pic.twitter.com/OGwE0UGb5a — Howard University (@HowardU) August 30, 2018 Allen graduated from East Mississippi Community College and was specifically selected to become a Bison. Despite receiving several offers from top schools across the country, the teen knew that she wanted to further her education at Howard. She plans on pursuing a degree in biology and aspires to become a surgeon. “Howard was always my first choice! When I was accepted to Howard, I knew I was ready to go. I was screaming and crying, and I cannot wait to start class,” said Allen in a statement. Allen says her personal experiences inspired her to want a career in the medical field. “A couple of years ago, my father had a massive stroke where a blood clot traveled from his heart to his brain. Since then, I’ve had the interest in cardiothoracic surgery,” she added. Howard has been working closely with community colleges to encourage students to complete their degrees at the Washington, D.C.-based school. The university has established a Transfer Student Association that organizes events throughout the year so that students feel connected to the community. “We know many arrive and don’t feel immediately connected. We make sure that transfer students feel a part of the community since day one,” said Melanie Carter , Ph.D., Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies. Like Allen, there are many other Black youngsters throughout the country who are entering college earlier than expected. Earlier this year, 11-year-old Baton Rouge native Elijah Precciely received a full-ride scholarship from Southern University. Teen Pushes Tech Innovation In Nigeria Forward

A 15-year-old Nigerian teen is making waves in the tech industry with the creation of an app. Tomisin Ogunnubi ’s My Locator app—which is designed to find children who are lost—has introduced a new level of innovation to the technology sector in Nigeria, BBC reported. Tomisin Ogunnubi was just 12 when she created an app which helps lost children in Nigeria. More here: https://t.co/vWeraT7lr3 #BBCInnovators pic.twitter.com/Q0McuAFJlB — BBC World Service (@bbcworldservice) August 28, 2018 Ogunnubi began coding at the age of 12 and later conceptualized the idea for the app, the news outlet writes. The app—which she unveiled in 2016—utilizes the Google Maps feature to help individuals track those who are lost. There is also a functionality that allows users to add telephone numbers to the app so that they can easily share their location if an emergency were to occur. Since the launch of the app, it has been downloaded over 1,000 times. Ogunnubi says she was inspired to create My Locator because the security of children is something that is extremely important to her. “I was very conscious about security, thinking… there are different dangerous people, so I guess the idea of being able to go out safely might have been what triggered the idea for the app,” she told the news outlet. “But it was me then as my 12-year-old self-thinking, ‘Oh I’ve just learned how to create applications. How about I use what I have learned to create something that can be useful to me and other people?’” Leaders in the tech industry believe that Ogunnubi’s creation speaks volumes about the importance of racial representation in tech. Google Program Manager Aniedi Udo-Obong says Ogunnubi’s journey will encourage other Black children to follow in her footsteps. “I’m impressed with Tomisin’s app for two reasons. I prefer to see products in whatever state they are than to hear about the most brilliant idea. I like the fact that someone hatched an idea in their head and was able to bring it to fruition and complete it,” he said. He also added that there is a need for more STEM education initiatives in Nigeria stating that the country is “going to be left behind if we don’t get our own children learning at the same rate with the same tools and technologies that their contemporaries in other countries have.” Many educational institutions and non-profits are putting the focus on STEM education. Black Girls CODE, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating career pathways for young women of color in the tech industry, announced the development of a technology exploration lab in New York City. Selena Gomez New Big Tits and New Face of the Day

It’s fascinating how a new kidney allows a bitch to go through puberty finally in her life… I guess she had a fucked up kidney from her mother who coddled her and exploited her to the people…how else does a Texas premature looking kid become a huge star..there’s a psycho mother behind them opening the doors and pushing for it…I’m thinking the LUPUS isn’t even real, it was just side effects of the poison her mom gave her to stunt her growth… Because all of a sudden girl harvests a Kidney from a groupie fame whore trying to be famous girl who lived in her house – who coincidentally was a match….and her tits grow 5 sizes…. I’m no scientist…but it’s worth investigating….Not to mention she’s got a new face too, I mean sure it could be injections, surgeries, make her look more like a porn slut cuz Bieber doesn’t want her anymore….I mean all the girls are doing this to themselves… But there’s no fun in that….I want scandal, Mommy Dead and Dearest storylines…not Selena always wanted tits and is rich so she got them between rehab visits cuz she’s broken on all fronts… I actually don’t care either way, but you know what I mean…storylines make tits more interesting, but the tits in and of themselves are still worth staring at. Here are the new tits in action JOIN THE NEWSLETTER YOU ASSHOLES! The post Selena Gomez New Big Tits and New Face of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

J.D. Madison, Southern Charm Star, Also Accused of Sexual Assault

J.D. Madison and Thomas Ravenel now have something in common. But it’s not friendship and it’s not a role on Bravo reality series Southern Charm. It’s the fact that each has been accused of sexual assault. We’ve documented in the past how Ravenel has been accused of raping both a nanny and a woman with whom he went on a date a couple years ago. The lead Southern Charm cast member has since announced that he will not be returning for Season 6. Now, People Magazine has confirmed that an incident report was filed in August 25 with the Mount Pleasant Police Department against South Carolina businessman Madison, who is pretty tight with Ravenel. He’s appeared multiple times on Southern Charm as a result. According to legal documents, allegations of rape, sexual assault and involuntary drugging have been leveled against Madison by a South Carolina female, whose name was redacted by authorities. The details are pretty disgusting. The alleged victim told police that the incident in question took place on August 21, 2017. She says that she was with Madison, his male friend and another female friend at her house for a drink prior to heading out to a local bar. While there, she alleges that Madison intentionally broke a glass – and, as she cleaned it up, Madison “slipped a drug” in her already-poured beverage on the counter. The victim says that, after finishing the drink, she fell in and out of consciousness. Later, in the early hours of August 22, the woman says she awoke in the guest bedroom of her home where Madison was “forcibly raping and sodomizing her.” The attack supposedly stopped after Madison received a phone call from his wife. Then there’s this addendum to the story: FITSNews has identified the male with Madison and the alleged victim that night as Jay Schwartz, a local chiropractor.  He was arrested on drug charges this same evening. Mount Pleasant are reportedly investigating these charges, while Bravo is yet to issue a comment. The allegations against Madison come three months after allegations of sexual assault were brought against Ravenel by “Nanny Dawn,” who was featured Southern Charm caring for Ravenel’s two children with ex Kathryn Dennis. Another unnamed woman also brought a similar charge against the Wealthy Charleston resident. Ravenel is currently under investigation by South Carolina police. He dropped out of the show this month admist these scandals , defiant in his statement and adamant that only Bravo producers had done anything wrong. “I’m not doing the show anymore,” Ravenel Tweeted, adding: “In the contract they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I decided I’ve got too much to lose and informed them I’m not coming back.” This guy sucks so much. And even if J.D. Madison never faces any charges for what he’s accused of above, we feel confident in saying he sucks a lot, too.

Demi Lovato: Losing Control of Her Life While in Rehab?!

It’s been over a month since Demi Lovato suffered a heroin overdose that nearly claimed her life. During that time, the singer has been proactive about seeking the sort of treatment that might prevent her from coming so close to tragedy a second time. These days, Lovato is in rehab, and sources say she’s fully devoted to the hard work of recovery. Not only has Demi checked herself into an in-patient treatment facility in Arizona, she’s also been making regular trips to Chicago to meet with the team of therapists who helped her to get sober for the first time, six years ago. Of course, in some respects, it’s easier for someone in Demi’s position to put everything on hold in order to focus on self-care. After all, most addicts don’t have the luxury of taking months off work and checking into a pricey rehab center. But in other ways, Lovato’s battle with substance abuse is complicated by her wealth and fame. Sources close to the pop star say all the touring and performing made it easier for her to fall back in with the wrong crowd, and it was reportedly one of Demi’s backup dancers who provided her with the drugs on which she overdosed.  Now that Demi is taking a break from presiding over a one-woman media empire in order to focus on herself, she has to trust that the people she’s hired will uphold their responsibilities in her absence. And sadly, it seems she may have placed her trust in the wrong people. “Her bodyguards have taken over her house,” a neighbor of Demi’s told Radar Online this week. “They’re the same two men who are with her around-the-clock when she’s home,” the source adds. “They have been living at her house since she was hospitalized. The insider says not only do the men appear to be treating the property as their own, they’ve also invited multiple female guests to join the party. “They’re there and so are two women who are possibly their girlfriends or wives,” the source adds. “Demi must really trust them because these two men have taken over her house completely and haven’t left since she was hospitalized.” Unfortunately, it seems there’s little that can be done about the situation, as Demi placed her trust in her bodyguards, and no one wants to alarm her with reports of their behavior. Here’s hoping the guys don’t do too much damage to the place. Lovato fans are a passionate lot, and you really don’t want to make them angry. 13 Reality Shows That Need to Be Rebooted

TV shows are canceled for a variety of reasons.  It could be whether the cast wants out or the ratings, or anything.  With multiple scripted TV shows getting the reboot treatment, it was only a matter of time before the world of reality TV was rocked.  Jersey Shore and The Hills have been rebooted, so why can these 13 shows not get a reprieve?   1. The City The City was a short-lived spin-off of The Hills. It followed Whitney Port as she moved from California to New York in an attempt to further her fashion career. Once there, she quickly learned that the world of fashion was more cutthroat than she first anticipated, and had to adapt to her new surroundings. Initial episodes were clunky, with performances so wooden it sounded that the script was below the camera. However, the series managed to find its footing in Season 2 by scaling back the relationships in favor of actually focusing on the world of fashion. MTV opted to cancel the series alongside The Hills. Given that Port is married to Tim Rosenman, the producer of the series, would it be that difficult to bring the show back in some form if the reboot of The Hills proves to be successful? We think not, and we would totally watch! 2. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Here Comes Honey Boo Boo followed Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and her family around McIntyre, Georgia. They were fun to watch, made hilarious comments, and controversy seemed to follow them. TLC pulled the plug after four seasons in 2014, leaving a full season of episodes unaired. The reason for the cancellation was said to be because of rumors that June Shannon was dating a registered sex offender. The series returned to TLC three years later with a two-hour special that featured some of the footage that never made the cut. Could a reboot be on the cards? 3. The Real World The Real World put a group of youngsters inside a house in a specific location each season. Viewers watched as they partied, bickered, made up and did the same thing all over the next episode. Does it sound like a lot of reality TV shows on MTV nowadays? Later seasons added in twists that diluted the premise of the show, and it could explain why MTV has not aired the series since early 2017. There have been rumblings that a reboot is in the works, but there is nothing official as of yet from MTV. A back-to-basics approach could be what this series needs to thrive again. 4. College Hill College Hill followed the lives of students at historically black colleges. The format was similar to The Real World, but the college setting made for a fresh perspective. It was a hit for BET, but fizzled out in its final few seasons, and that was largely down to the cast not being as good as the earlier editions. The general rule of thumb for reality TV is that if the cast is right, viewers will tune in. BET would be wise to trial an updated edition of the show. It could be a hit! 5. Next Next was a dating show that spanned 288 episodes from 2005-08 on MTV. It was retro, cheap, and everything you would expect from a dating show in the noughties. The surprising thing about it was that MTV’s target audience managed to understand the convoluted format. A reboot for streaming could be a hit. 6. Growing Up Gotti Growing Up Gotti followed Victoria Gotti, daughter of Mafia boss John Gotti, and her three sons; Carmine Agnello, Jr., John Gotti Agnello, and Frank Gotti Agnello. Victoria was a hard as nails mother, who would stop at nothing to keep her sons in line. Despite being popular, it lasted just three seasons. A reunion aired on the network nine years later, and proved there was still enough family drama to sustain further seasons. View Slideshow
